Josie is a waitress and her last day did not go as planned. She has found a map to a treasure in Dry Creek where she is headed to begin with. All she wanted to do was head to Dry Creek to paint and be happy for 6 months. She has a one night stand with Sam Layton who finds out she has the map he too is looking for as it belongs to his family. The two try to work together and between misunderstandings and keeping their hands off of each other things heat up.

This is the 3rd book in the Layton Family series. I have read all three and love each one. The author knows how to tell a story and make you fall for the characters. You want to learn more about the Layton family and their ways and the people they fall in love with.

This is a great series.

Not my normal kind of book I would choose but I was given this book as a ARC - I was hooked and read it in two hours. No supernatural just pure romance with a little action thrown in.....

Josie and Sam seem to be doomed at the start....treasure, mob ties & danger cause major roadblocks right off the bat to deter their relationship but they find...um (creative ways should I say?) to overcome them. :)

Off to put the first two books on my to-read list....curious about the rest of the Layton boys and if they can hold a candle to Sexy Sam. What can I say? I'm a sucker for hot, nerdy guys with OCD. LOL

Josie and Sam steam up the pages in the 3rd installment of The Layton Family Series by Avery Flynn and fans of contemporary romance with a little suspense edge will enjoy reading Passion Creek.  I've read the 2nd book, Seduction Creek (formally titled Dry Creek Bed) and we get a glance at Sam and Josie at the end but it's not necessary to have read Seduction Creek to enjoy Passion Creek. But both books are good and I plan to go back and read book 1, Temptation Creek .

Josie and Sam share a hot night in Vegas after she walks away from her job as a cocktail waitress where she hits one of her customers over the head for grabbing her breast.

Josie noticed the tall drink of water named Sam at the poker table and then later has a drink with him at the casino bar. One thing leads to another and the two are hot and heavy in his hotel room. But Josie doesn't go back for seconds with any guy. She's all about the one night stands to keep her heart safe.

When Sam finds out that Josie has plans to head to his home town, Dry Creek, he thinks that she is working with someone to find out information about a family secret treasure that people, including him, in his family have been looking for decades.

Josie is a painter at heart and was hoping to go to Dry Creek to get her painting mojo back but after learning that her bother is in trouble with a loan shark and that she must pay his loan back to save their parents Josie thinking that Sam's treasure hunt is not a bad idea. But she can't get Sam out of her mind; she keeps dreaming about him and their one night that shared in Vegas.

Sam is a straight lace professor in the small town of Dry Creek and ever since his one night stand with Josie he can't get her out of his mind. She is the opposite of what he wants in his life, chaos. But damn if he doesn't need a like chaos to shake up his boring life.

Josie Winarsky has been looking forward to going to Dry Creek for as long as she can remember. Painting is her passion and she's netted the opportunity of a lifetime in taking classes there. She doesn't mind leaving Las Vegas behind. It was just a stand-in for the moment when she could make her dreams of becoming a fully-fledged painter come true. Yet her last day at work turns out to be anything but ideal.

A Las Vegas loan shark has suddenly turned up on her doorstep, so to speak, and is now demanding that she pay for her brother's mistakes. The thing is, Cy's missing and she has no idea where he is. Never-the-less, Snips is determined to make her give him what he wants, when he wants, or he'll do away with what's left of her family.

Josie knows that she can't let him get away with the extortion. Yet she's not sure as to what to do in order to get him off of her back. When a diary with a map to Rebecca's Bounty unexpectedly lands within her hands, she soon realizes that she has a means of settling her brother's scores as well as keeping her family safe and make her ultimate dream come true. Sadly, she has no actual means of tying everything together in order to gain an ends to her own means.

A one night stand ends up turning into something more, something she never imagined it would be. Granted, Sam's convinced that she's out to get him because of the fact that she knows more about Rebecca's Bounty than she's let on. Josie isn't sure as to how she can come clean about her true purpose within the situation itself. Her feelings for Sam have also started to cloud her judgment, but she's determined to show him that she's not what he thinks she is.

Banding together to discover the secrets surrounding Rebecca's map and the supposed treasure, Josie wonders if they'll be able to make sense of things before Snips makes good on his threats. She knows that Sam would do anything to protect her, but she would rather keep that to a minimum in hopes of making sense of the secrets they've started to unravel in order to discover the treasure's final resting place. With time running out and the danger to her family closing in, she knows she'll need to find a way to find a way to thwart Snips plans if they're to survive the entire fiasco unscathed.

I must say that I've truly enjoyed this book of such a wonderful series. Granted, I've started it with book three, but will be sure to catch up on reading the first two books soon. So can't wait! Passion Creek does read as a standalone story while tying in events from books one and two so the reader doesn't get lost in the storyline.

You'll definitely find yourself immersed in just a wonderful story surrounding a legend that no one is truly sure whether it exists or not. Full of intrigue and heart-wrenching scenes, it's a story that will definitely capture the reader's interest and keep it riveted to every page as we discover the circumstances that have led Josie and Sam to where they eventually find themselves to be. I definitely recommend this wonderful series for reading.

This is my favorite of the Layton series although I would love love to have the other brother. The fun easy going brother get a story. Please......

Sam is the serious one. He has been treated with kid gloves due to losing his twin at a young age. This has made him become less reckless and more ocd. His promise to his twin was thrown out the window due to guilt. Guilt he carries around until Josie helps him with it.

Josie is serious on the inside but fun loving and adventurous on the outside. A vegas waitress who turns Sam’s eye and in many ways is like him. She like Sam has a strong family bond and is loyal to them. They are both nice but Sam is walled up behind guilt. He isn’t good at expressing himself well either.

The two have a attraction that sizzles and so does the words they say to each other. There are misunderstandings and some flirtation but this duo goes through alot to end up together.

Josie’s brother and family are threatened and she must find Rebecca’s Bounty but needs Sam’s help. This is where the fun but danger begins. Her convincing him to help was fun to see. Until the danger came to Sam and than he is thrown into the mix. When Josie is in danger Sam stops at nothing to find her.

It’s heartwarming to see him trudge through the snow and storm to help her. He can’t lose her for she helps him become himself. But he does feel guilt over what has happened to her and does try to better himself before he sees her again. The mystery isn’t there like the other books but the family loyalty and the hot attraction is. I think why I like this book so much is because we see Sam become who he is meant to be. The studious but fun loving guy and with Josie’s help and love this is what we get. This is their fun and adventurous story of how they came together.

Lisa's review of
Passion Creek
By Avery Flynn

18+ book
I received a copy of Passion Creek by Avery Flynn in exchange for a honest review.  First off this is adult book with mature situations.  This book was absolutely fabulous.  I really enjoyed getting into this fast paced and captivating story.  What would you do to make your dreams come true?  Josie had a dream of painting even after her so called best friend stole that dream from her.  Then she scrimped and saved working in the high stakes poker room of a casino getting grabbed and pawed by men in order to get higher tips so she could go to a artist retreat in Dry Creek, Nebraska in order to recover her dreams.  On her last night two things happened one of her best patrons gave her a book that had a map to Rebecca's Bounty a treasure map in the same town she was going and the second was a sleazy loan shark threatened her and her family because her brother owed him money.  She needed to let off some steam and met Sam a man that had a irresistible presence that she needed to possess in all his power.  But was that meeting destiny or planned Sam just happened to live in Dry Creek and he was related to Rebecca's.  This story takes you on a rollercoaster ride through their one night stand to their meeting in Dry Creek.  The passion and sizzle that these two create can light a fire to the pages that it is written on.  I couldn't put this book down for anything I needed to see the suspence that was going to occur between these two lover's,  the deal with Snips, Rebecca's Bounty and Josies family.  Thank you Avery for allowing me to read this stimulating and intriguing story from beginning to end.  I cant wait to read more from this fabulous author.

Josie is a waitress in Las Vegas who is trying desperately to escape her current life in search of the one she always dreamed of having. At one point in her life, she was a painter with a lot of promise until she was betrayed by her best friend. Her art was stolen right from under her. Her life was ruined. In her time of need, her twin brother Cy shared her pain and helped her to get back onto her feet. Now it is her turn to return the favor. On her last night as a waitress, Josie learns that her brother owes a loan shark working for the mob 40 grand. Her brother is no where to be found and the shark has turned to her for the money. "Snips," as Josie calls him, has two things he wants in payment for the money he loaned. He wants either the actual cash or Josie herself, a payment she is unwilling to provide.

Unfortunately for Josie, in her attempts at negotiation, Snips grabs her, invoking her temper and a swift kick to the nuts. Instead of being able to request more shifts to pay her brother's debt, she is out of work. The upside to her situation is that she decides to spend time in the bar of the casino and meets Sam, a history professor from Dry Creek, Nebraska. He just so happens to be gorgeous and smart. He also is from the very place Josie wants to disappear for few months at a painters retreat. They are instantly attracted to one another and fall easily into one another's arms. Is it destiny that Josie has met a man from the very town she intends to move to? Read the story to find out!

Passion Creek was a great short read with a great story line The main character was Josie, she lived in Las Vegas and worked as a waitress but only until she had saved enough money to continue on her dream of being an artist by taking classes in Dry Creek.

On her last night at work she is given a diary from a kind man who had kept it in his possession for 9 years, she thinks nothing of it and takes it, she is then hounded by Snips, a nasty little man and he tells her that her twin brother Cy owes him $40,000. Josie’s dream is falling apart.

She ends up in a bar and has a one night with Sam. Upon leaving Josie drops a piece of paper from the diary, unbeknownst to Josie that the diary was written by one of Sam’s ancestors and that the piece of paper was a map to Rebecca’s Bounty.

Sam thinks Josie only slept with him because of Rebecca’s Bounty even though Josie hasn’t a clue what he is on about. When she finds out though she knows she must find it to get her brother out of trouble. She ends up in Dry Creek and eventually seeks Sam out and discovers hes a nerdy history professor.

Sam tries to stay away but the problem is they cannot keep their hands off each other but Sam still thinks she is only after the bounty and not in him. Will they work it out?

Passion Creek was well written, it had a mix of action, erotic romance and suspense. It was very enjoyable. I liked that the book had an actually story to tell and it wasn’t all about the sexual chemistry.

It is book 3 of the Layton series but it can be read as a stand alone.

I was very excited to get my hands on the third book in Avery Flynn's Layton family series. I loved the first two books and I really enjoy Avery's writing so I looked forward to this.

Book three, Passion Creek, tells the story of Sam Layton - the uptight history professor. However, his uptight side temporarily disappears on a trip to Las Vegas when he meets blonde bombshell Josie Winarsky. The attraction is instant and they end up in bed together. However, a discovery makes Sam think he's been conned by Josie and things quickly go awry. The trouble is, they can't simply go their own ways and forget about it, because Josie's heading to Dry Creek on an artist's retreat, and she's bound to bump into Sam sometime.

Also, the escape to the country can't come soon enough for Josie, who seems to have inherited some trouble from her twin brother, and she's hoping that Dry Creek and the treasure it holds is the answer to her problems. Sam presents more problems, though, when he refuses to help her find Rebecca's Bounty - something he's been looking for himself for years.

Josie's determined to save her family from harm, with or without Sam's help, and it's her determination and Sam's stubbornness that makes this book such a fun read. The storyline is interesting, the characters--and their tussles--are fantastic and the sexual tension is just off the scale. This is another erotic romance from Avery Flynn that I'd definitely recommend. Hot stuff!

Passion Creek is a story that brings some of the hottest romance I've ever read to the pages of a book. Each scene brings spark of tantalizing fury as Josie and Sam ignite their passion during a search for a lost treasure. The very treasure she needs to save her family from the wrath of a sleazy, slimy mobster trying to climb the ranks.

There is intense action, suspense, and of course erotically written scenes that leave you with feelings that will rock you to the core. You can try to put this one down, but you will quickly find your way back to the pages yearning to read more and more. Passion Creek is adult romance at its best, and even that statement doesn't do it any justice.

I have to commend the author for not watering it down. When I want a good hot romance this is the type I seek out, but so many fail to deliver. There is a need as a reader to be moved and feel the raw emotion of the characters, to find yourself in the story, and watching scenes unfold. In some ways I felt my heart race during the moments of danger, and my heart definitely skipped a few beats during the hot sexual scenes of Passion Creek. Yes, Passion Creek was the perfect name for this novel, and I look forward to reading more.

Avery Flynn has written a wonderful suspenseful romance. She pulls you into a world of intrigue and swirls in a lot of love and romance. Passion Creek begins in the hot spot of Las Vegas and ends in the small town of Dry Creek Nebraska. From the beginning when you meet waitress Josie Winarsky you love her character. She is intelligent, sexy and wise ass. She is a phenomenal heroine. After meeting Josie we soon meet Sam Layton. A very hunky history professor. With the picture that Avery Flynn paints of Sam I don’t blame Josie for jumping right into his bed.

Passion Creek brings treasure hunting and hot sex together in a phenomenal story. I read this book in one day because I couldn’t put it down. Josie and Sam have such wonderful chemistry that the story just took on a natural feel. The only thing I wish there had been more of was of the Layton family. They were on the perifary of the story, but I would have liked to have met more of them. I feel now I need to read the other two books in this series. I definitely recommend reading Passion Creek. But, one warning I hope you have a husband, a boyfriend or a handy little friend because you will definitely be very hot and bothered after reading this book. :)

Josie Winarsky is a cocktail waitress is Las Vegas that dreams of escaping a job she hates and going to spend time in an artist colony in Nebraska. She's almost to the point where she has enough money saved when she gets in the middle of a mob plot and has to set aside her dream of becoming an artist to save her younger brother.

Sam Layton is a gorgeous, uptight history professor who is the complete opposite of Josie Winarsky. A totally unexpected one night stand brings the two together, sparks fly. Sam Layton stumbles across a long lost map to treasure called Rebecca's Bounty and the two find themselves working together to find it while avoiding the mob who is trying to find Josie.

Passion Creek is a steamy romance (read that 18+) that actually has a fantastic plot as well. Some romances don't have much to offer except for the romance itself. Passion Creek kept me turning the pages to find out what happened next in their search for Rebecca's Bounty. No matter what your reason, you definitely want to pick up a copy of Passion Creek (The Layton Family)

Avery Flynn does it again. I read the first of the Layton family series after it was on a best of list for 2011. The third book, Sam Layton's story, was probably my favorite of the three books in the series so far. It has the right blend of mystery, romance, and steam. Flynn always brings the steam. A sexy and fun read, for sure.

Sam and Josie

More mystery and suspense as the series continues with an opposites attract storyline. Sam is the buttoned up history professor and Josie is a Vegas waitress who ends up with a surprise connection, leading them both into danger. Easy reading. Does Chris ever get his storyline?

Passion Creek is a suspensefully sexy read that goes from the glitz of Vegas to the quiet countryside of Nebraska where two very opposite people can't help but be drawn to each other. For buxom and outspoken Josie, just when she thinks she's off to finally live her life as she wants comes a dirty-minded loan shark saying her brother owes him money and he's come to claim it from her. The reasons behind this charade are a bit convoluted and rely on events happening off page (perhaps in another book entirely) so they never really ring true. Josie's no wilting flower and knows how to physically protect herself and I cheered every time she defended herself.

Sam has always been studious and quiet after a childhood event had him shutting off his emotions. When they say, "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas", Sam means it.....at first. He thinks his scorching one-night stand with Josie will be enough but her liveliness and ability to make him laugh and feel for the first time in a long time have him dreaming about her. A crazy treasure hunt brings her to Nebraska and his dreams soon become a reality.

The treasure hunt really feels like an afterthought though. The diary revolving around the treasure tells an intriguing story but in Ms. Avery's story it seems out of place. The conclusion to the treasure hunt wraps up too quickly and haphazardly. What flows well though are the sexual encounters between Sam and Josie. The scenes are nicely paced throughout the story with the perfect blend of steaminess and playfulness. Their differences clearly meshed in the bedroom.

I enjoyed seeing Sam come out of his shell. Josie talk him that life is too short to not live it to the fullest. His final act proving his love to Josie was sweetly unexpected and showed how far Sam has come to be the man he wants to be. Ms. Avery has created likable characters with outcomes that I truly cared about and found myself finishing this story with a smile on my face.

Note: This ARC was provided by Rock Star Lit PR in exchange for an honest review.

Dangerous Tease is the third book in The Laytons series from author Avery Flynn, a title that was originally released in 2012 as Passion Creek. This story features Sam Layton, a college professor, and Josie Winarsky, a cocktail waitress, and the two meet in Las Vegas while Sam's on vacation with his two brothers, Hank and Chris. This story overlaps with some of the events in the second book, so if you've read that one, you'll recall Josie being introduced as a minor character in Vegas and then re-appears in Dry Creek. Josie may not be the usual type of woman Sam has been known to be with before but there's something about her that brings out the more passionate and emotional part of him, something he's kept bottled up ever since something happened to their family the summer he was only twelve years old.

I've always felt as if there was more to Sam than being the quiet, serious brother and his personal story was heartbreaking and one that weighed heavier on him than on his other siblings. Josie was able to create a balance of sorts because Sam really needed to smile more and to experience more joy in his life. This had more of an Indiana Jones series or Romancing the Stone/Jewel of the Nile feel to it compared to the two other books, but the heat level was definitely at par with its predecessors. I'm not sure if there's a fourth book slated for release but I certainly hope there will be because it would be sad if Chris's story isn't told. A guy as happy-go-lucky as him may just have had a dark episode in his life and he deserves to have as much of a happily ever after as his other siblings. Dangerous Tease was a fun read and gets four stars. ♥

Thank goodness my history professor was nothing like Sam Layton, because there is no way I would have been able to focus during class. Avery Flynn has yet again, created a beautiful story, which absolutely captivates her readers and sucks them into the world of Dry Creek Nebraska. Just like the previous books in this series, Dangerous Tease was a sexy and intense novel. It is always a bonus when an author manages to tie a love story with a bit of mystery or suspense, and Avery Flynn did a great job at doing so. For the life of me, I could not figure out the mystery of Michael and why Sam felt such a heavy burden over the fact that he was never able to keep his promise. Flynn shocks her readers with the identity of Michael and why Same is so dead set on finding this treasure, which is absolutely breath taking. I loved the fact that the main characters are both after the same thing – treasure, making this novel so different from other novels. While searching for Rebecca’s Bounty, the main characters find that they have fallen madly in love with one another, and must face an angry loan shark from Las Vegas who is out to Kill Josie’s brother, Cy and get ahold of the previously mentioned treasure while doing so. Josie and Sam are such a beautiful couple, throughout the entire novel, I was rooting for them to work out their differences and admit who they really are – not how the world chooses to see them. It’s always refreshing to read novels written by Avery Flynn, and one of the main reasons for this is the fact that she creates a male lead any woman would love, as well as creating a strong female lead who doesn’t need a man to take care of her. Usually her female leads have a sharp tongue and quick wit, making them even more appealing to the readers. I would easily give this novel 5 stars, and cannot wait to see what Avery Flynn will come up with next.

My Review:
For once in his life, Sam decides to let go of his inhibitions and go after the hot waitress in Vegas for a one-night stand. What he doesn't realize at the time is that she has ties to his hometown where he is a very different person.

Josie is an artist. She's working her last night in Vegas before she heads out for a 6 month artists retreat in Dry Creek. Knowing where she is headed, one of her regular customers gives her a gift...a treasure map for Dry Creek... a treasure known as Rebecca's Bounty. Josie doesn't take it seriously but the crime boss muscle/dweeb duo do and they want that treasure and are pressuring Josie to find it. The problem...the treasure is on Sam's land and this isn't the guy that Josie knew in Vegas.

Overall this was a fun book to read. Sam and Josie are fabulous together. I like how uptight he acts, although that's really not who he is. Josie makes him a different person...and that guy is hot! I liked the twin tie that both Sam and Josie had in common. Although their twin stories are very different, I felt like it added a depth to the story that I really liked.

There's a suspense/mystery/danger aspect to the story because of the treasure hunt. There have been people looking for Rebecca's Bounty for years with no success so this isn't an easy hunt. The climactic scene with Josie was fabulously done. It was late when I was reading it and it definitely kept me at the edge of my seat. A perfect blend of danger mixed in with the hot alpha male that is Sam. Seriously, the book is reading for that scene alone, but luckily, the rest of it is good too. Definitely an entertaining read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This 3rd book in the Layton Family series is a thrilling, sexy suspense story with a wonderfully strong, intelligent and sassy heroine and an adorably geeky, college professor with an adventurous sexy alpha man just roaring to come out of him, hero. Josie was a waitress in Vegas and Sam was there on a guys weekend trip when they first laid eyes on each other. They were the definition of opposites attracting. They had an explosive one night together and a misunderstanding had them going their separate ways but never forgetting each other. When the mob gets involved and threatens Josie's family, she is on a race to find a hidden treasure to save them. Sam is the only one who can help her, but he is hurt thinking she is only using him for the treasure. I love how they think they have nothing in common but can't stay away from each other. Are they really so different? Josie challenges Sam to get out of his comfort zone of routines and be a better man. Sam challenges Josie to leave her controlled life and become more emotionally accessible. I thought they were both well developed characters and their growth was genuine and believable. Their chemistry was hot and they were perfectly matched. I loved the mystery of the treasure hunt and the action was thrilling with a good pace. Sam's hilarious Mom makes another appearance along with Hank and the rest of the Layton family. The secondary characters are all great additions adding to the action. This is a fun, exciting and thrilling romance. I am a fan of Avery Flynn's work and I can't wait to read what she creates next.

Have you ever been upset when finished a book. Well, I am right now! I finished Layton Series: Dangerous Kiss, Dangerous Flirt, and just now Dangerous Tease. Well I think I did, well, maybe, maybe not, I hope not!!!
This book, this series, to somebody from the past is Dy-no-mite! Sorry, I am showing my age. OK, I am getting back to the important item, Dangerous Tease.
I absolutely loved, loved, loved the story of Josie and Sam. Sam is a professor at Cather College in Dry Creek, Nebraska. Josie is a server at a casino in Las Vegas. They meet while Sam and his brothers Chris and Hank are visiting Las Vegas on a gambling trip. The first time they see each other there is an instant attraction, which is highly irregular for Sam. Sam is a straight arrow, staid, college professor some may say boring. "Some" would be very wrong. Due to a tragedy in Sam's past, he has become all of the above, but Josie will make him see the light.
Ms. Flynn did a stupendous job writhing/rewriting this book. She really makes you see and feel all of the emotions that the characters are feeling. I loved the hesitancy Sam goes thru when Josie mentions the treasure. Absolutely positive that is why Josie is attracted to him. But, he is wrong, definitely wrong.
I wonder…… Sam has another brother, Chris… hmmmmmmm

Thank you for reading my review. Avery, you have done it AGAIN!!!

I read a .pdf version of this book that was sent to me by the author after I won a giveaway drawing (and this review is months past due...sorry Avery). For the book being around the standard length of a typical "romance" novel, I enjoyed this book very much. This book kept me excited, in the sexual sense, throughout the whole book, even during the suspenseful pages. This author uses great detail and I could visualize everything she wrote - from the sex scenes to the small cave to the scar across Sam's cheek. Sometimes I could visualize myself as Josie and it is difficult to write in a way that puts the reader into the character. However, this author did a great job.

Once I started to read this book, I did not put it down. It is a quick read in the sense that it is exciting so you read faster because you want to know what happens on the next page. Preparing to write this review, I see that this book is the third and final book in a series. You do not need to read the first two in order to read this book. Either the writing was done so well that the author incorporated the first two books or this book stands on its own. Whichever the case, I want to buy the first two books just to see what they were about.

Until next time, live life one page at a time!
