Katelyn Taylor writes dark and contemporary romance and is known for twisted love stories with toe-curling smut, heart-breaking angst & plot twists that keep readers up all night.
If you like your romance with a side of unhingedness & spice, get ready to cry from your eyes to your thighs.
This is basically about a bunch of hot people going on a dating show to win 5 million dollars, but its just not a regular old dating show iykwim 🔪 You've got red flags, green flags, broody tatted men, bitchy women and a creepy host😌 That's a recipe for a good time if you ask me😅
This was so MESSY AND TOXIC AND TRASHY but in the best ways possible. I ate it up and licked the plate clean and I want seconds and thirds please and thank yewwwwwww🙇🙇
It was kind of reminiscent of The Compound(another book with a similar premise) but here its just more dramatic and trashy and HOTTTTT🥵🥵 It really played out like a tv show and was so entertaining! Highly highlyyyyy recommend the audiobook for this one!
I only wished that the whole reason behind the dating show was explained more.. like who is behind it and why? I'm hoping this will be explored in season 2 which should come out soon I believe.
I had so much fun reading this book. It starts off feeling like a reality dating show, with lots of drama, flirting, arguments, and unexpected relationships, so it was easy to get hooked straight away. Courtney was easy to root for, and I really enjoyed watching her journey. I also loved the chemistry between her and her "Locked In" partner. Their relationship wasn't what I expected at first, but they quickly became my favorite part of the story. It honestly felt like I was watching a reality TV show unfold.
Everything changes very quickly. The thriller side of the book completely surprised me and made it impossible to stop reading. There were so many twists, shocking moments, and plenty of drama that kept me turning the pages. It was fast, entertaining, and a little chaotic in the best way. Reality TV at it's best! Can't wait for Season 2!
OH MY FUCKING GOD THIS BOOK WAS LOVE ISLAND X SQUID GAME PERFECTION 😭😍😭😍😳 I NEED BOOK 2 NOW!!! It's been so long since I've been THIS INVESTED in a book, genuinely one of my favourite reads for 2026! Literally a book written in crack format, if you read any romance thriller ler it be this one! Especially if you love reality TV based plots I highly recommend Locked In!! All the stars in the world and I'm definitely gonna do a blacklist marathon read of this author's books!
This book is the epitome of why I fucking love reading. Oh my God, what a fucking BLAST. I truly could not put this shit down. I was squeezing in reading time ANY chance I got. I’m talking 15 minutes before work, on my lunch break, standing up cooking dinner. I couldn’t fucking stop.
And I knew Katelyn wasn’t going to let me down because she is an unhinged queen to her core, so when this book went in the direction I was literally on my hands and knees BEGGING for it to go, I was fucking ecstatic.
I’m not a huge reality TV girly. Not that I’ve never watched it, but it’s not my holy grail. BUT this book had everything you love about a gritty, drama-filled reality TV show, except it’s better because it’s in book form. You get the different POVs and inner monologues while still getting all the mess, drama, and sexiness but this one has a REALLY unhinged twist.
From the beginning, I already knew one thing wasn’t endgame👀👀. I mean, COME ON. The second the grumpy, tattooed man was introduced, I said, “That’ll do it.” 😂 But I actually loved how that storyline was thrown in because it made the book that much better.
I loved the hate fucking, the hate-to-love dynamic, and how circumstances really brought these two together. That aspect made their relationship so much more satisfying to me. I fucking LOVED them. Their dynamic was so hot. I loved that he started out as the biggest dick on planet Earth, only to soften up so quickly and turn into the absolute perfect man who RODE SO HARD FOR HIS WOMAN.
Not only are you getting a dating reality show, but they’re also doing challenges. Really insane, kind of fucking gross challenges. They wake up drugged on this island, and there’s this ominous, mysterious feeling surrounding the whole thing. You can FEEL in your gut that something more is going on, but you can’t quite put your finger on what.
And then the fucking heads start rolling and CHAOS ERUPTS.
It was the best fucking time.
I want to say I was shocked by the turn of events, but honestly, I think I was more excited…which is kind of weird to say considering how everything turned out LMAO. But it was pure fucking entertainment. What can I say?
I obviously don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give away all the fun bits and pieces. This book is a FULL-ON experience, and you need to go into it and let it fucking happen.
Just know that I am actually obsessed with this book. This woman never lets me down.
I will absolutely be rereading this one because there is a full-cast audio, and you KNOW I’m going to need to experience that.
This is exactly what the fuck I signed up for: a thrilling, smutty, chaotic, completely unhinged good fucking time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What’s better than trashy reality TV in a book? It’s honestly a reader’s dream!
Courtney is headed to an island to find love—hopefully. But truthfully, she’s really there to bag that $5 million grand prize. It’s life-changing money, and Lord knows her family needs it. All she has to do is prove to America that she’s genuinely falling for her Locked In partner and win the challenges. But shit gets real... fast.
I randomly stumbled upon this book on KU, and the blurb had me instantly intrigued. From page one... I was Locked In (pun intended). Just as we’re making our way through the competition and falling for the characters, the story takes a hard left. I’m talking an audibly gasping, tires-screeching, "wait, WHAT?!" hard left. I blew through this like I was binging a full season on Netflix, and I absolutely adored the messiness.
If you like enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, high spice, and dark rom-com vibes, do yourself a favor and read this! Then come sit in the corner with me and twiddle our fingers while we impatiently wait for Season 2.
This was described to me as Love Island meets Squid Games. I honestly thought I’d hate it but, book club fomo and all that… so did I read it anyway? Of course I did 😬🤭
“Oh my God, chill. It’s seriously not that deep,”
(Was there ever a more relevant quote? Possibly not) 🤭
This was fast paced and full of drama drama drama! 🍿🍿🍿
Think: love island if produced by psychopathic heathens.
The contestants are in it for the prize money, the (??)love connections… and their lives!
“After all, there’s nothing quite as strong as a trauma bond, am I right?”
Was this a completely trashy read? YESSS 😨🤭
Could I stop reading it? NOOO 👀🍿
Perfect for a no-thinking, fast-paced escape from reality!
First of all, to all the haters: **you’re wrong.**
TikTok told me this would cure my reading slump and THEY WERE RIGHT. WTFFFFFF 😂
Is it the most serious, perfectly logical book I’ve ever read? No. Do I care? Also no. It was pure entertainment from the first page to the last and sometimes that’s literally all I want.
I was INVESTED. I was suspicious of everyone. I was questioning everything. My reading slump packed its shit and left.
3.5 This book was pretty good and very fast paced. Loved the island and dating show setting. The characters were all fun. The thriller part was good as well. I just wish the thriller part didn’t come so late in the book? Why spend so much of the book on Noah and so little on the thriller aspect? I feel they should have started being suspicious way earlier and the reveal way earlier. I would have said 4 stars until the end because the ending was unsatisfying and so much was unresolved.
Spoilers***
So much was unresolved at the end. What were the families of all the deceased told? How did the show cover this up? Why did Courtney and Landon not go to the police? Or go to their friends families? If I read a thriller I want some type of justice in the end, this literally had none I guess. They just went on living their lives with their money without ever thinking to notify authorities? That’s bizarre. How was the show shown to the public? Like any sort of follow up lol. I did like the thriller aspect but it started too late for me. I could have done with way less Noah chapters and more on Courtney and Landon slowly figuring shit out together. Slowly realizing they need a plan.
Welcome to season one of Locked In! They laugh, they cry, and most of them die.
If you like Love Island with a little Squid Games twist this is going to be for you!
Courtney is working 3 jobs just to make it by and to pay for her teenage sister’s medical treatments, which is about to become a big problem since the insurance refuses to pay out anymore. So when she finds out her sister signed her up for a reality TV dating show she’s definitely reluctant to leave her, until she finds out the cash prize is 5 million dollars. I mean who cares even she even finds love with money like that on the line.
When Courtney wakes up on a tropical island paradise dazed and confused..let this be your reminder to never drink the complimentary beverages…the red flags are immediately blaring. However, everyone else seems excited, the men are hot, and they get to stay in a literal mansion, what could possibly go wrong?? Only in this twisted paradise game you have to fall in love like your life depends on it. For some the prize will be a wedding worth dying for.
This book was truly like reading a twisted reality show, we have drama, alliances, betrayal, a twisted crew, humor, scandal, and murder. Better hope you picked the right partner because your life will definitely depend on it. Katelyn Taylor does it again with this twisted dark romcom!!
Lock In and definitely add this to your TBR! Thank you so much to Katelyn Taylor for the gifted copy of Locked In, in exchange for my honest review.
If you think you are going into this one for the sexy reality TV dating show vibes, don't worry babes, you are going to be getting that and a whole lot more! This one is so much more than just a spicy good time with a bunch of singles dropped off on an island to find love. You are going to get the drama and spiciest that you love from a show like Love Island but it takes a real dark turn. A turn that had me saying, what in the actual fuck is going on. In the best possible way.
Like the way my flabbers are gasted, because what do you mean that was the plot... Seriously such a unique plot that will suck you in. Have you in a chokehold from chapter one. The way that Katelyn wrote this story had me fully sat. And listening to the audio, which is how I HIGHLY recommend you to consume this one, had me feeling like I also teleported and woke up on a beach somewhere tropical in only a bikini. Like it's wild how this audio had me feeling like I was in fact our FMC Courtney. Like I experienced every single emotion she did. I experienced every time she was stabbed in the back by someone she trusted. I kicked my feet when she got attention from one of the boys. My heart broke when hers did (yes I cried and I don't want to talk about it). Like I'm still sitting here just in awe how this audiobook was able to fully transport me into there story.
This one will be going down as a top read/audiobook of the year. And baby, how much longer do I have to wait for Season 2 because my bags are packed and I am ready to go!
Welcome to Season 1 of Locked In! It is guaranteed to be a screaming good time.
I DID NOT see the book going this way! Katelyn once again took me by surprise and had me on quite the roller coaster. All I can say is take Katelyn seriously when she says this book is Squid Games meets Love Island. The storyline was surprising, chaotic, and nothing like anything I have read before. I can't word vomit my feelings without giving major spoilers so ill leave you with this:

3.75⭐️! Okay so literally read this in one day!! Picked this for a 24 hr reading challenge and it was so easy to complete because it was veryyy binge worthy. It’s giving love island vibes x squid games. A fast paced thrilling romcom I definitely recommend for the summer. I’m excited for season two 👀👀
I picked this up thinking it would be a perfect summer beach read to end my slump (because I just had a baby and I can’t even read.) And it was… the problem is that it had me eyeing my husband like I’m thinking about making another baby and it hasn’t even been six weeks yet. (I will say, the thriller definitely took a back seat to the romance at first, but it picked up and it was such a fun time that I didn’t really mind— I was too turned on to care.) I had an absolute blast and I will be accepting any and all horny thriller recs, thanks!
First off the Courtney and Landon should’ve have won at least $100 million each because of $5 million is not enough for the hell they went through. This is one of the most interesting book I’ve read all year and also finish this pretty fast.
Reality Dating Show (Love island x squid game) Enemies x Lovers Broody Tattooed MMC Sassy Strong FMC OWD (Savannah) OMD (Noah) On Page Sex with OM (FMC with OM) Off page sex with OW (MMC with OW) Multi POV (Courtney, Landon, Noah, 1st person) No Virgins/Third act break up HEA/HFN No condoms
Notes The sex scene with op happens before the MCs get together. I have a lot more to say, but will come back and write more when I get my thoughts in order

*Read it in a day for the reading challenge I’m doing on tik tok *
This book was so good!! I’ve never read anything like it. The first 180ish pages I FLEW through. It definitely gives Love Island vibes with a dash of squid games 😂 The challenges were fun and they just kept getting more dangerous!! Once you’re hit with the twist, you’re hit with EVERYTHING. All gas no breaks.
Katelyn Taylor is one of my go to authors and she always knows how to keep me intrigued.
One gripe: the challenge where they were eating DISGUSTING things 🤢
4.50✨ Oh. My. God….i was NOT expecting anyyyy of what just happened in this book! WTH! I’m thinking this was going to be a regular reality dating show, I was wrong…SO WRONG 😨. Katelyn Taylor’s writing eats, Every. Fuckin. Timeeee! & she successfully cured my reading slump for the second time🫶🏾
there’s nothing quite as strong as a trauma bond, am I right?
Holy shit I need about five working days to recover from this book.
The review which said LOVE ISLAND x SQUID GAME pretty much summed it all up. You think you know where the story is going but the last 30% are an absolute rollercoaster lmao.
I enjoyed the different POV’s but did feel that the story overall was rushed and the dialogue superficial. Nonetheless, it was a very unique story and I’ll definitely be thinking about this for a while.
I honestly would have never picked up Locked In: Season 1 if I hadn’t been required to read it, but I’m actually really glad I was challenged to step outside my usual reading choices. This was such a fun surprise!
The story pulled me in more than I expected, and I found myself invested in the characters and curious to see where everything would go. It’s always refreshing when a book you probably wouldn’t have chosen on your own ends up being one you genuinely enjoy.
While it wasn’t a perfect five-star read for me, I definitely understand why it was chosen for the challenge. Sometimes being pushed outside your comfort zone pays off, and this was one of those times. I’m giving it 4 stars and am really glad I gave it a chance!
I heard love island meets squid games and I said sign me up!! This was so bingeable, I read it in just a couple hours and couldn’t put it down! It was quite simple, but I had such a blast reading it, it was funny, it was hot, and it was chaotic!
This was definitely creative and clever to release it around the time love island was airing lol loved the twist and i have so many questions! Hope book 2 can answer them!
