🌧️💛 The Ones Who Stay Through the Storm 💛🌧️
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I needed a little time after finishing Through the Storm to figure out exactly what I wanted to say about Katy and Ben because this book gave me SO many feelings. What could have easily been an incredibly heavy story became something surprisingly warm, funny, hopeful, and full of heart.
At only twenty years old, Katy is facing a future she never expected. She's pregnant, she isn't certain who the father is, her relationship with her parents leaves A LOT to be desired, and the boy who broke her heart has suddenly walked back into her life determined to prove he isn't leaving again.
That's a lot for anyone to carry.
Yet Katy never felt like a character waiting for someone else to rescue her. She's strong, stubborn, resilient, and incredibly protective of the future she wants for herself and her baby. I loved that she knew her own mind and wasn't afraid to make it clear that ultimately, these decisions belonged to her. She could be scared and uncertain while still standing up for herself, and that made her incredibly easy to root for.
And then there's Ben.
BEN. 😭💛
This man is golden retriever book boyfriend perfection.
He knows he hurt Katy. He knows walking away was a mistake. And instead of returning and expecting an apology to magically erase everything that happened, he SHOWS her that he's different.
Katy pushes him away? He shows up.
She's scared? He shows up.
Things become complicated? He's still there.
Even with the uncertainty surrounding the baby's paternity, Ben's support never felt dependent on whether that baby was biologically his. He simply cared about Katy, and watching him patiently work to earn back the trust he'd broken was one of my favorite parts of their story.
I also really appreciated that Katy didn't immediately forgive him just because he came back with good intentions. Their history matters. Her heartbreak matters. Ben has to confront the choices he made, while Katy has to decide whether the boy who once left her could truly become the man who stays.
But as much as I loved their romance, the FOUND FAMILY may have been what pushed this book all the way to five stars for me. 🤍
Katy's biological parents certainly weren't winning any parenting awards, but the people who choose to surround her more than make up for what she's missing. Declan's immediate support of his sister meant so much to me. Ella and Grandma Patty brought even more love and warmth. And then we have the absolutely legendary group of potential fathers.
The "Maybe Daddies" group chat? 😂📱
I was NOT prepared.
Those interactions brought some of my biggest laughs in the entire book. What could have been treated solely as an uncomfortable or dramatic situation instead became another example of the support surrounding Katy. Beneath all the jokes and chaos were people who genuinely cared about her and wanted to make sure she knew she wasn't facing any of this alone.
That's really what Through the Storm became for me.
A story about showing up.
Showing up when life becomes messy. Showing up when you don't have all the answers. Showing up after you've made mistakes. Showing up for the family you're born into and the family you choose.
The alternating POV between Katy and Ben made their journey even stronger because I could understand both of them. Katy's hesitation and fear felt completely justified, while seeing Ben's regret, yearning, and determination from his perspective made his redemption that much sweeter.
I also appreciated that Amelia Van Roos allowed this story to be emotional without making every chapter overwhelmingly heavy. There are heartbreaks and difficult family dynamics, but they're balanced beautifully with humor, friendship, tenderness, and some genuinely hilarious moments.
I did feel the pacing slow slightly around the middle, and there was one element surrounding the paternity situation that stretched believability a little for me. Neither ultimately changed how invested I was in Katy, Ben, and this wonderfully chaotic group of people.
And that ending left me with exactly the warm, fuzzy feeling I wanted. ❤️🩹
Through the Storm is second-chance romance wrapped inside a much bigger story about forgiveness, resilience, friendship, unexpected family, and discovering that sometimes the people who become your safest place are simply the ones who keep choosing to stay.
Ben absolutely earned himself a spot on my golden retriever book boyfriend list, the Maybe Daddies deserve their own group-chat spin-off, and Grandma Patty is a treasure.
Now I need to go back and read See You at Sunrise because I'm definitely not ready to leave Rose Bay behind. 🌅💛

I’m a few days late posting this review, but honestly… I needed time to collect my thoughts because WOW. 🤯✨ This book completely stole my heart. 💛📚
Let’s start with the book itself. The writing was fantastic ✍🏼, the tropes were chef’s kiss 🤌🏼💋, and the conflict felt so authentic and emotionally grounded. 💔❤️🩹 Nothing felt forced or overdramatic. Every moment had a purpose, and I was completely invested from beginning to end. 👏🏼📖
Now let’s talk about our FMC, Katy. My heart broke for this girl and was slowly put back together about 57 different times. 😭💔❤️🩹 She’s a 20-year-old college student trying to get a little "revenger" after heartbreak… and instead she ends up pregnant. 😅🤰🏼
And the father? Well... there are multiple possibilities. 👀😂🍿
Thankfully, her brother Declan is there from day one. 🤍 He never hesitates to step up, support her, and remind her she isn't alone. Her parents, though? 🚩🙃 Yeah... they definitely weren't winning any parenting awards.
But that's where one of my FAVORITE tropes shines.✨ FOUND FAMILY. 🤍🏡
Katy's friends and the legendary **"Maybe Daddies"** group chat absolutely made this book. 😂📱 I laughed, I smiled, and I adored every single interaction. ❤️ No matter what happened, you always knew Katy and her baby were going to be surrounded by love, support, and people willing to fight for them. 👶🏼🤍
I also loved how strong Katy was. 💪🏼✨ She knows what she wants, isn't afraid to stand up for herself, and refuses to let anyone else make decisions about her future. 👏🏼 At only 20 years old, she handles so much with such resilience, and I couldn't help but root for her every step of the way. 🌸💕

I was freaking ready for this book and it did not disappoint I loved every second of this book and had such a fantastic time reading it. The vibes, found family, a little family drama and more was indeed done so well including Ben who’s just an amazing mmc cause he don’t play about his girl and maybe baby but that doesn’t matter to him. After Ben and Katy finally hooked up he got scared and never called so she want to do a little revenge, did that include sleeping with his some of his rival team? Nope but it happened anyway lolll
Katy is a 20 year old college student who’s also a secret successful author which nobody knows about. I freaking love Katy she was just so unapologetic herself and she’s definitely so relatable in so many different ways. Did Katy go a little wild after the boy who she loved half of her life didn’t call or text? Yes but she’s just a girl and I support her rights and wrongs. Her feelings about everything was so important and her feeling like she didn’t deserve Ben even though she did!
Ben and Katy definitely have a lot of things to figure out while also learning how to overcome some things and trust each other. I just freaking love these two they are everything just the way they love and show up for each other is so special to me!
Ben Davis the MAN YOUUUU, I love youuu my guy. He made such an amazing impression on me and book 1 and this book definitely made me love him even more cause he’s so kind, patient and supportive I couldn’t get enough of him. Even though he had his fears about their relationship and that’s why he didn’t call he was still wanting her but didn’t want to push but he still showed up for her and the baby
The found family aspect this book is so amazing especially the maybe daddies group chat even they were showing up and being excited even though the baby maybe wasn’t theirs. This group is just so amazing and I can’t wait for more!

Through the Storm was such a warm, heartfelt read that left me with all the warm and fuzzy feelings. While the premise of an unexpected pregnancy without knowing the father could have been heavy, one of my favorite aspects of this book is how the author turns a potentially heavy situation into a story about friendship, found family, and people choosing to show up for each other. Rather than focusing on judgment or negativity, the story is filled with warmth, compassion, and a community that rallies around Katy when she needs it most.
The story is told through alternating chapters from Katy’s and Ben’s perspectives, and I really enjoyed getting to experience both sides of their journey. Ben is the ultimate golden retriever hero—kind, dependable, and always willing to step up. I also loved Katy’s best friend, Ella, and her supportive grandmother. While Katy’s parents were honestly horrible, every story needs someone to root against, and their actions made the love and support from everyone else shine even brighter.
One of the unexpected highlights was the group of potential fathers. Their group chats had me laughing more than once, and I loved how they balanced humor with genuine care for Katy. The romance is also closed-door, allowing the emotional connection and relationships to take center stage.

The story is told through alternating chapters from Katy's and Ben's perspectives, and I loved experiencing both sides of their journey. It was emotional, messy, and filled with moments that kept me eager to see how everything would unfold. Their path isn't an easy one, but watching them navigate uncertainty, healing, and the unknown together made their story all the more rewarding.
Katy and Ben's story explores complicated emotions and difficult circumstances, but at its heart, it's about finding your way through the storms life throws your way. The accidental pregnancy trope brought plenty of chaos and unexpected twists, but it never overshadowed the emotional depth of the story. One of my absolute favorite parts was the group text with all the "Maybe Baby Daddies"—those messages had me genuinely laughing out loud.
This book struck the perfect balance between lighthearted moments and heavier emotional themes. Ben is the ultimate green-flag hero, constantly showing up for Katy despite the challenges, misunderstandings, and baggage from the past stacked against him. Amelia has managed to capture my heart once again with her newest book, Through the Storm! Her writing style is so beautiful and her storylines are so well crafted that they leave you wanting more and more! After reading See You at Sunrise, the first book in the Rose Bay series, I knew Amelia would be a must read author for me and this book further solidified that!
Through the Storm focuses on the relationship between Katy & Ben and boy is it an emotional one!
Katy has been in love with Ben forever and she feels on top of the world after they finally spend an intimate night together…but then…he ghosts her!
Not knowing how to deal with the heartbreak, she ends up in a bit of a messy situation with a few other footballers!
What she never expected, only a few short weeks later, was to be staring at two pink lines! Katy quickly realizes that she has no idea who the father is and her life is about to change forever!
Despite Katy’s parents being super judgmental and practically disowning her, she quickly realizes she has an amazing support system without them! Her brother, her grandma and her wonderful friends will stop at nothing to stand by her side! Heck, even the one night stand footballers come together to show their support and their antics will make you laugh out loud!
When Ben learns of Katy’s pregnancy, his golden retriever qualities take center stage and there is nothing he won’t do for Katy! Scared that he might ghost her again, Katy is reluctant to let him get too close, but Ben won’t stop trying! Before they know it, their lives become forever intertwined!
This book is full of raw emotion, found family, beautiful friendships, complicated relationships and pure, sweet, unconditional love! It’s a must read, so go ahead and add it to your TBR!

After reading See You at Sunrise, the first book in the Rose Bay series, I knew Amelia would be a must read author for me and this book further solidified that!
Through the Storm focuses on the relationship between Katy & Ben and boy is it an emotional one!
Katy has been in love with Ben forever and she feels on top of the world after they finally spend an intimate night together…but then…he ghosts her!
Not knowing how to deal with the heartbreak, she ends up in a bit of a messy situation with a few other footballers!
What she never expected, only a few short weeks later, was to be staring at two pink lines! Katy quickly realizes that she has no idea who the father is and her life is about to change forever!
Despite Katy’s parents being super judgmental and practically disowning her, she quickly realizes she has an amazing support system without them! Her brother, her grandma and her wonderful friends will stop at nothing to stand by her side! This was such an emotional second-chance romance that had me rooting for the MCs (Katy and Ben) from beginning to end. Their long history added so much depth to the story, and I loved experiencing them work through old wounds while navigating so much, including an unexpected pregnancy and all the uncertainty that came with it.
The FMC (Katy) was easy to empathize with and root for. Her hesitation to trust Ben again felt completely justified after everything they'd been through, and I appreciated that the story didn't rush her forgiveness. The MMC (Ben), on the other hand, was determined to prove he wasn't going to make the same mistakes twice, and I really enjoyed his yearning and his redemption instead of just expecting it.
The chemistry between the FMC and MMC was undeniable, and the emotional moments hit just as well as the sweeter ones. The pregnancy storyline added another layer of vulnerability without overshadowing the romance, and I loved seeing them slowly rebuild their relationship.
If I had one small critique, there was one particular aspect of the story I found unrealistic and unnecessary regarding the paternity of the FMC's child. Still, it didn't take away from how invested I was in their journey.
If you enjoy second-chance romance, surprise pregnancy, first love, emotional healing, and a hero determined to earn a second chance, this one is definitely worth picking up!

One of my favourite parts of this book was getting to catch up with Ella, Declan, and Ella’s brothers from book one. I love when a series brings back familiar characters and lets you see little pieces of their lives continue. It made the story feel connected and gave me that “coming home” feeling. 🥹💗
Amelia Van Roos has such a cozy, easy-to-read writing style that pulls you into the story. This book brings together love, forgiveness, resilience, and the reminder that life doesn’t always follow the plan we imagined.

This book was a really sweet read and I absolutely loved it. The accidental pregnancy and it possibly not being his baby was a different idea from what I've read before. The Maybe Daddies were really cute and hilarious throughout the book!
Ben and Katy have known each other most of their lives. And when things finally started moving from friends to more, Ben leaves and didn't look back. Katy ends up finding out she is pregnant which changes everything for Ben. Not even knowing if the baby is his, Ben is determined to show Katy that he is all in no matter what.
Ben is a college football player and a future NFL draft pick. He has a lot going on in his future, most of it uncertain but one thing he is certain about is his future with Katy. Ben is absolutely swoon worthy and a total Golden Retriever. He has made mistakes but he is more than ready to right his wrongs. Katy is two years younger than Ben and hasn't had the best support system at home other than her brother and her Grandma. When Ben left her behind she feels like she isn't worth staying for. The further along in her pregnancy she starts to doubt herself more and is scared to lean on Ben too much, when he has already left once.
I loved that when it came down to it, Katy knew she could count on Ben and that he would be there for her. The way the Maybe Daddies treated Katy and respected her relationship with Ben was something to admire despite the circumstances. This book had plenty of banter, swoony moments, and absolute heartbreak.

This is the second book in the Rose Bay Series and definitely my favorite. I loved book 1 as it touched on a personal subject for me but this book captured my heart!
Katy is a college student and lost her virginity to the boy she loved “Ben” who we met in Book 1 but when he didn’t call or reach out after that night she was left hurt and retaliated by having a few steamy nights with a few guys who she knew from college and then the real story begins by her finding out she is pregnant, this now gives us the “Maybe Daddies Brigade” text message thread throughout the book. I was giggling at the antics through these messages. GOLD!!!!!!
We then have our MMC Ben, he is a true golden retriever who constantly shows up without question even if the end result isn’t what he imagined, he still fought for what he wanted and that was his Katy Cat. Katy struggled to see her self worth due to family trauma and Ben was there showing her how strong she is and working their way through the battles they go through.
This book really captured my heart and pulled me in through emotional connection.

He’s protective, kind, caring, and so incredibly patient with her. He stands beside Katy without needing guarantees or answers. Whether or not this baby is his doesn’t change the way he feels about her. He loves her enough that the outcome just…doesn’t matter. He chooses Katy. He chooses to stay. 🥹
Watching these childhood friends find their way back to each other was so tender. There’s so much history between them, but also growing they both needed to do. This is my first read by Amelia Van Roos, and I very much enjoyed it. The book was beautifully written, and my favourite part of this book was the found family trope. This book is about a young women that gets pregnant after things with her childhood crush don't exactly go as planned, but the thing is... she doesn't exactly know who the father of her baby is. After her childhood crush finds out, he does everything to show her that he will be here no matter what and show her that he can be trusted again.
This book truly represented that aspect amazingly. You can really see the found family in the way that the people around her did everything they could to make sure she was healthy, taken care of, wasn't alone, and helped her get prepared for he little one. It was so sweet how each character embraced her pregnancy and not only loved her, but unconditionally loved her little one, even though they weren't sure who that father was.
Overall, I truly did enjoy this book and every character in it. The found family trope for sure had my heart the entire time, and if you love a book that is going to make you smile and pull at your heartstrings, then this book is for you. It will be worth the read.

Ben feels bad for how he acted with Katy. She is everything to him and he doesnt feel worthy. He shows up to help her during the pregnancy to show how sorry he is. Katy loves Ben but it still hurts what he did. The maybe-daddies get together to support Katy thru her pregnancy sending gifts but when her brother finds out, all hell breaks loose. Katy feels that she's trapping Ben into smtg that may not be his, he's entering the NFL draft and doesn't want to hold him back. Drama, family corruption, funny characters and a dog named Danny make this a good read.

Ben and Katy absolutely stole my heart in this one . Ben’s golden retriever energy rivals that of Danny’s and was the perfect match for Katy’s black cat personality. Add in that these two were childhood friends who end up in an accidental pregnancy and are not sure if Ben or his opposing college football team rivals are the dad?! Sign me up every time!
The accidental pregnancy of this story brought plenty of chaos, but it never overshadowed the heart of the story. The text chain between all the “Maybe Baby Daddies” was one of my favorite parts and literally had me laughing out loud.
This book was the perfect mix of fun and serious. Ben is truly a green flag king who never stopped showing up for Katy even though circumstances and past events may have not been on his side.
The found family and actually family of this series is top tier (especially Grandma Patty ) I cannot recommend checking out this series enough.

Through The Storm is the second book in the Rose Bay series and put of the two, I would say that this one is my favourite so far.
The FMC is such a strong person that is going through all the feels after she finds out that she's pregnant but isn't 100% sure om who the dad is. She struggles with feeling like she belongs as well as not believing in her worth 🥺
The MMC is such a golden retriever. He shows up every single time even when things might not be how he wanted them to be. He knows what he wants and is not afraid to go after it. He also gains some very odd friends along the way but they just as loveable as he is 🥰

Through The Storm is the second book in the Rose Bay series and put of the two, I would say that this one is my favourite so far.
The FMC is such a strong person that is going through all the feels after she finds out that she's pregnant but isn't 100% sure om who the dad is. She struggles with feeling like she belongs as well as not believing in her worth 🥺
The MMC is such a golden retriever. He shows up every single time even when things might not be how he wanted them to be. He knows what he wants and is not afraid to go after it. He also gains some very odd friends along the way but they just as loveable as he is 🥰

This was such a sweet book to read, despite dealing with some heavier topics the author was able to handle those with care in a way that the characters reactions felt very real and very human. Katy and Ben are such a great couple and to see them navigate this new part of their lives was a fun read. I think it would be a great vacation or beach read if you like a sweet romance with a guaranteed HEA. Definitely makes me excited to read more books by this author.

I have to say I loved loved the ending, how it was a progression of how they kept supporting each other and not just a fast forward to their HEA. Has to be my favorite part of the book that it wasn't an epilogue with a huge time jump, which there is .. hahaha... but not quite right away once they get back together.

This one felt a little far fetched when I started but by the end the way Katy's CHOSEN family rallied around her and she got her happy ending made me SO glad I stuck with it! Katy gets her heart broken by her childhood love, Ben, after giving herself to him one night. To retaliate she ends up sleeping around with guys who were Ben's opposite...and finds herself pregnant not knowing who the father is. When Ben finds out everything gets wild and in the end, Katy loses contact with her parents and Ben man's up and steps in to remind Katy of how valuable she is. This book is all about chosen family, allowing yourself to be fully loved and seen by the people around you, and looking really scary things in the eye and knowing you will be ok. This book has some humor and really showcases the beauty of looking past flaws in others to truly show up and love them.

This was such an easy read with plenty of emotion, grovelling, heartbreak, healing, and a reminder that family isn’t always just the one you’re born into. I was rooting for Katy to fight for what she wanted, while hoping Ben would prove he was there to stay.
My favourite side characters were Ella, Grandma Patty, and Danny the Golden Retriever, who completely stole the show.
If you’re looking for a fun but emotional romance with loveable side characters and a satisfying journey, I’d definitely recommend picking this one up.

This book was a fluffy and closed door romance novel. I kind of felt like Katy was like Donna Sheraton from Mamma Mia with all her possible baby daddies. That’s not why I didn’t like the novel. I felt like the story dragged out and when Katy was pushing Ben away it just irritated me. I wanted to love this book. But I only finished reading it so I could find out who the baby daddy was. Also the nickname for the baby is gonna be the initials BJ which is so funny bc that’s the acronym for something sexual. I expected more for this novel. I felt like the characters lacked growth and Katy’s parents were so mean to her which also irritated me. I wish her parents accepted her.

Not sure how I feel about this ! Overall good story college sports romance with one night stands resulted in pregnancy. FMC Katy kind of got on my nerves with her actions I’m I get that the mmc Ben ditched after the slept together but to keep fighting him for the whole story was a bit much. Ben was sweetheart always showing up for her telling her he was in this forever weather or not he was the child father. The text messages were hilarious. Katy was dealing with a lot her parents wanted nothing to do with her but she had friends her brother and her maybe daddies brigade with her.I would definitely read this author again

If you want banter, laughter and tears I highly recommend this book! Grandma Patty is my favorite throughout this series! Ben and Katy are so cute together and grow so much! I love how Ben is willing to take care of the baby even if it isn’t his and that is a real man! Katy finally sees her worth and I’m so happy that she does! This was such a great read and I can’t wait for the next book! Thank you Amelia for this ARC! 🫶🏼

Grandma Patty is the vibe
First off, Grandma Patty is my favorite and I want to be her when I grow up 😂 she is indeed, an icon.
Katy and Ben are such a cute couple and I love the effort that Ben puts in. I think the Maybe Daddies Chat was the part I laughed at the most in the book, except Grandma Patty - she’s a queen. And all the other characters were amazing and I want to read more about all of them!!

Such a fun love story!!
I'm new to Amelia's writing but I added this to my TBR because of the use of the pregnancy trope and was surprised to find that it also had a who's the daddy mystery and I loved the maybe daddies text thread which was really fun! The friendships in the story were also really fun and genuine...i loved ben and how invested he was in katy and her pregnancy... glad i gave this book a read!

This is my first book I have read by Amelia Van Roos and I really enjoyed it. This book was really sweet and touched on various heavy topics with care. Ben and Katy were great together and we really got to see them grow in this book and how they supported one another.

Sweet second chance romance with closed door spice, but nothing super special. I loved Grandma Pattie! She's definitely one of those kickass grandmas that everyone deserves to have. I also loved how supportive all the potential dads were through Katy's pregnancy. It truly showed how much everyone cared about each other.

I am a fan. I loved the first book of the series. The second one did disappoint.
I personally thought the "villains" for lack of a better word were great characters to have.
I also loved the uncertainty in several parts of the book that kept me wanting to continue reading.
Hopefully we get more books in the series. There are so many interesting characters worthy of a book.

Such a sweet, sweet story. A true testament to it takes a village and how important it is to surround yourself with supportive people.
The way thst everyone comes together to support their friends through this mess they've found themselves in is amazing. Sensitive topics were handled with grace.

I can really feel the emotional aspects in the first chapter. I enjoy the found family aspect so much! Grandma is such an icon. I love her antics. What a good ending!
