In the city of Anteros, you might find yourself at the Bowman's Inn. You could be lonely, hurting, or lost more than you know. The bartender, Valentine Archer, will know just what you need. He not only looks like a Greek god, he used to be one. Cupid prefers to be called Val these days. But he still knows how to mend a broken heart.

Six authors have combined their talents to bring you a collection of tales with romance, mystery and maybe a little humor. Oh, and quite a lot of sex. The delightful short stories feature characters who own or operate the facilities of the Bowman’s Inn or are just passing through. Whatever the case, Cupid has a way to help all of them find what their hearts require.

I really enjoyed reading this collection of short stories, it was like nothing I’ve ever read before and much more than I expected from a collection of short stories.

What makes this book stand out is that all of the stories are linked by place and character, so that in almost every story, there is a familiar face.

If you’re into mushy romance (I am!) you’ll love this book; you’ll also love this book if you’re into erotica (sizzling and passionate). From beginning to end, I honestly could not put this book down and just had to keep reading on to find out what would happen next.

Altogether there are six well written stories (with the addition of a prologue, which ties in very well with the last story in this collection) each with fully fleshed, realistic and believable characters that the reader warms to. Although I really enjoyed reading all of the stories in this collection, I have to admit that I have my favourites!

I particularly liked Strange Brew and Steamy connections – probably due to their erotic undertones, and the chemistry/sexual tension between the characters (and the way that this was resolved ;-)) I also really particularly enjoyed the last story Another Shot, as we finally get to see what happens to the two characters we initially meet in the prologue.

A few excerpts that I enjoyed:

Strange Brew: “Clayton leaned against the bar, one elbow propped on the counter, hand curled around a glass of water. Handsome in a way that went beyond simple good looks, everything about him exuded man. Light, salt-and-pepper hair gave him a mature appearance. He couldn’t have been much older than thirty-eight, though.”

Steamy Connections: “When her eyes met his, she caught her breath. For six months she’d wondered what he looked like. Sure, she’d created a mental image according to his voice and his description of himself, but she’d never dreamed he’d be so handsome, so beautiful. Thick eyebrows framed captivating hazel eyes, reminding her of dark crystal.”

Another Shot: “He reached toward her, and she somehow landed on his lap, sobbing into his shoulder, inhaling citrus, spirits, and something unique she couldn’t label. His arms wrapped her close to his body, while his head rested on top of hers. He whispered words she didn’t understand; not English – hell, it could be Greek for all she knew.”

These writers have shown what great things can be accomplished with teamwork and I can’t wait to read their next collection of short stories!
