Jennifer uses writing as a way to corral her fervent imagination, which would otherwise devour her whole in the night. An avid reader since childhood, she would insist on reading books at the dinner table (which led to food spots on many a library book) and while walking down the street (which led to occasionally falling into holes). She made her first nickel as a writer at the age of 6, when she sold hand-printed and stapled stories to neighbors door-to-door in rural Michigan.

Jennifer has written everything from satire to humorous YA to literary short stories, but is assiduously attempting not to jump genres in an effort to finish her middle-grade trilogy, The Hundred. The mother of three boys, she is harassed daily for Book Two in the series and needs to get back to writing it immediately rather than crafting this biography. She loves to hear comments from readers, especially young readers, as they are the best form of pay a writer can receive.
