Marginalia: A Quinn Adler Thriller

Rate this book
She reads about murder for a living. She never expected murder to start reading back.

Quinn Adler is a criminology grad student with a true-crime podcast, an obsessive streak, and a knack for cases everyone else has given up on. So when she finds a confession penciled into the margin of a library book — detailed, chilling, signed with a tiny closed eye — she can't look away.

Then she matches it to a real unsolved killing.

Quinn then finds another. Same handwriting. Same closed-eye. When the victim turns up exactly as promised, Quinn realizes she isn't reading about the past anymore. She's reading the future, This isn't a confession, it's an order.

The confessions keep coming. More margins. More orders. Each one a death already decided, waiting to happen. Quinn can read them before they come true — but she can't stop them all, and she never knows whose name will surface next. Somewhere in the endless stacks of campus, whoever is leaving them has started reading her right back.

How far would you go for the perfect story — and who would pay for it?

Great concept

A true crime podcaster finds evidence of a crime network while researching a case for her show. It is based on voluntary self blackmail through posting of confessions of past crimes and current commissions for hits. They are written in the margins of library books. The investigation puts her life and the life of her producer on the line. I enjoyed the book and the concept is unique, just a bit slow moving.
