Rate this book
A little tea. A lot of grace. And a love worth fighting for.
Welcome to Gracehaven.

Ivy Fairwood has only ever wanted one thing: her own shop where she can sell her special tea blends and medicinal herbs. But when the mysterious elf, Caelen Vael, and his young daughter move into Gracehaven and purchase the very empty storefront she has her heart set on, that dream is dashed.

Caelen is cold, aloof, and carries himself with all the airs of a nobleman rather than the owner of Gracehaven's first stationery and art supply shop. Ivy wants nothing to do with him.

Unfortunately for her, God has other plans.

And when letters from a secret admirer start to arrive—an admirer who seems to know her better than she knows herself—she will soon find herself having to make an impossible choice.

Because sometimes God answers prayers in ways that overturn every plan.

And soften even the hardest of hearts.

Perfect for fans of cozy fantasy and clean romance, Ink and Ivy delivers a heartwarming tale of faith, small-town charm, and unexpected love in a whimsical fantasy world shaped by missionaries from Earth. If you love grumpy-sunshine dynamics, secret admirers, and Christian fiction filled with on-page prayer and quoted Scripture, then prepare to be swept away into the charming town of Gracehaven today!

I very much enjoyed reading this book. It was such a fun read. I loved the whimsical world and light atmosphere, and all of the characters were lovable with great dynamics between them. The MCs especially felt fleshed out and layered.

One aspect that was a little off-putting for me were a few of the descriptions of the MMC, such as his “dark baritone” and “his deep voice vibrating.”

I also liked how the story handled Christian themes and verses overall, but the way it explained Christianity as originating from Earth and being transplanted into the fantasy world did not fully work for me. My issue was not the presence of Christianity within the setting, but the framing of the Bible as literally historical to this world through Earth. For me, that altered the theological feel of Christianity in a way that felt somewhat at odds with how Scripture presents it. Personally, I would have preferred a more allegorical approach for the fantasy genre. That being said, I really appreciated how specific Scriptural principles were integrated throughout the story. I know I needed a reminder of the main Scriptural theme with the FMC at this time in my life, so that was encouraging to me.

I pretty much stayed immersed the entire time and did not want to put the book down. And THE LETTERS. They made me go HEHEHEHEHEHE.

There were also a few scenes that felt VERY close to Pride and Prejudice movie scenes, even down to some of the wording, but honestly, a lot of authors take inspiration from other works, and the book still had originality overall.

Were there a couple things I did not like? Yes. Did I still love the story? Also yes. I could absolutely see myself rereading it, and I am super excited for the next book. I will read every book the author writes.

I got an eARC as being part of the street team. These are my own honest thoughts.

This book was such a treat!

When I heard about this book, it felt like it could be right up my alley, many of my favorite things woven into a Christian, cozy, fantasy setting? The question is always will it come across in the right way that I connect with it and just relish and bask in the whimsy loveliness of the story? The answer ended up being a resounding yes for this book, and I’m beyond happy it did.

This is cozy, simple life, but I just had such a wonderful time with it. It was the perfect amount of everything for me personally. The way faith was a part of this story was something I also really enjoyed. While some might be bothered of our faith being put into a fantasy story plain as day, I LOVED it and think the explanation was simple but smart.

So if you want or love Bible verses quoted, prayers said, actual faith conversations, and real life problems of gossiping, harboring bitterness addressed in a biblical way, with a touch of fantasy whimsy, and an adorable charming and sweet romance all along the way, this is a book you need to pick up. I just adored this.

❗️Content & Trigger Warnings - magical creatures & whimsy “magic” but not witchcraft, past death of spouse during childbirth mentioned.

This was a fun read. From the cozy Narnian vibes to the P&P romance, Ink and Ivy sweeps you into the whimsical world of Gracehaven.

I loved reading about the portals between earth and Gracehaven, though they are only mentioned a few times. The unique characters and creatures gave the story a cozy, magical feeling that fits the theme so well.

What made me love the book more was the faith content and Bible verses. I loved how the characters would quote scripture and apply it to their own lives and circumstances. Truly inspiring.

Overall, I’d highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from Gracehaven! 🩷💚🤍

This was so fun!

I’ll admit, I struggled a bit with the idea of our true Christianity, that is so tied to the earth and humanity, dropped into a fantasy world with talking animals, centaurs, and elves. But once I told that overthinking part of my brain to just shut up and enjoy the story, I got really into it. 😂

The FMC Ivy is funny, endearing, and relatable in her struggles. The MMC Caelen is 100% Mr. Darcy coded. In fact, there is a lot of Pride and Prejudice inspiration in this book, from our MMC to certain scenes and dialogue!

I loved the cast of side characters, too. I can’t wait for Marigold’s story!
The setting is cozy and whimsical and so much fun. I’d move to Gracehaven in a heartbeat.

If you like cozy fantasy with Christian themes and scripture on page, a quirky cast of characters, a secret admirer, letter exchanges, and a dislike to more romance, you should definitely check this one out!

I just finished my trip to the enchanting Gracehaven!
I absolutely loved the sweetness of this story! From the very beginning, I felt a deep connection with Ivy—she is such a relatable and wonderfully drawn character. But what truly stole the show for me was the beautiful interaction with the letters; those moments had my heart completely fluttering. It is such a lovely, wonderful read that kept me turning pages late into the night. Ashley Willingham has a gift of storytelling. If you appreciate beautiful prose and a romance that gives you all the feels without needing to be overly heavy or explicit, you will cherish this one. A truly delightful addition to any bookshelf! Plus the cover is stunningly beautiful!

Ink & Ivy was my first book by Ashley Willingham, and overall, I really enjoyed it.

From the beginning, I loved the introduction to Grace Haven and its quaint English village vibey atmosphere. The setting was charming and cozy, and I could easily imagine myself there. At first, the story felt like a blend of Pride and Prejudice and You’ve Got Mail, especially once the letter writing began, which immediately drew me in.

My biggest struggle with the book was the writing style. There was a great deal of inner dialogue and internal processing, but not enough meaningful conversations between the characters. Because so much of the emotional development happened inside the characters’ heads rather than through their interactions with one another, I sometimes felt disconnected from the romance and wanted to see more of their feelings expressed in actual dialogue.

I also found Ivy’s inability to realize that Fern was Caelyn was a bit difficult to believe. We are meant to accept that she organically falls in love with Caelyn through their interactions, yet it seemed unrealistic that she never suspected his identity. Given the qualities the author gives Ivy—intelligent, capable, compassionate, and grounded in her faith—it felt strange that she never connected the dots.

The reveal itself wasn’t much of a surprise, but I was genuinely caught off guard by the arrival of Caelyn’s brother at the engagement party and the revelation of his royal lineage. Those moments added an unexpected layer to the story.

My biggest disappointment was that the relationship development came so late in the book. Ironically, the story became the most interesting in the final chapters, and I wanted much more time with Caelyn and his family. There was so much potential there that I wished had been explored earlier and in greater depth.

One thing I absolutely loved was Ivy’s relationship with Elodie. She accepted and nurtured her long before her feelings for Caelyn fully developed, and those moments were some of the sweetest in the novel.

Despite my critiques, I did enjoy this book. It took me a while to settle into the story, but the premise was unique, the setting was delightful, and the ending left me smiling. I simply wished there had been more character development and more dialogue that allowed the relationships to unfold on the page.

This first installment to the Gracehaven world was a cozy delight. The world where humans and Fae/magical creatures mix was what intrigued me to most. I think the initial world building is ok, but knowing Ashley’s writing style, it will be built out more and more with each book in the series.
I particularly liked how Christianity is represented not as an allegory but with the full representation of faith. I like the concept of humans bringing the faith to this magical realm. And I love how seamlessly the faith is brought into the story. It fits well and does not feel preachy, in the everyday conversations of the story.
The FMC Ivy is a character I can relate to, and I appreciated seeing her growth. The MMC Caelen brings the Mr. Darcy vibes, but his tough exterior is removed and I really liked his tender side.
The last 35% of the book was really where the story took off, in my opinion, it flowed the best and I wish the relationship was developed more on the pages instead of squeezed in at the end.

I am eager to see where Marigold’s story goes and look forward to reading the next book. Also, I am so curious about the small mention of Bastain and his curious companion notebook, when will be see this little teaser hashed out?!

I am not normally a fantasy reader but I judged a book by its cover and the cover of Ink and Ivy screamed “Read Me!” Dear reader, I read it and Oh. My. Lanta. It hit the top 5 (and maybe the very top) of my 2026 reads. I am obsessed with the Pride and Prejudice meets Narnia but make it cottage core vibes. Are there plot holes? I have no idea - I was just dumped into a world like I’ve never been before and now I want to live there! What did I love? The characters, the Christian outlook, the sweet, slow-burn romance, the cottage core world, the letter writing (that was 🔥🔥🔥), the food, the dancing…literally everything. Please read this 10 star book!!!!! (Also, make yourself a London Fog and get a few chocolate croissants to go along with the book because you will be craving them)

I received a free ARC copy of Ink & Ivy by Ashley Willingham from the author, but these are my honest thoughts about the book.

Ink & Ivy is such a cozy and heartwarming Christian fantasy read. The story takes place in a fantasy world filled with characters like dryads and fable rabbits, but what made the setting especially unique was the portal to the human world that introduced them to God and the Bible. It gave the story a very different feel from most fantasy books I’ve read.

The town itself felt warm and welcoming, almost like stepping into a small community where everyone knows each other. I loved getting to know the local pastor, the bakery owner, the grandmother who runs the inn, the mayor’s family, and Ivy’s close-knit group of friends. Their weekly Sunday lunches and crochet club gatherings added so much charm and comfort to the story.

One of my favorite parts of the book was the banter between Ivy and Caelen. Their conversations were witty and genuinely amusing at times. The secret admirer letters added another layer of fun. As a reader, it was pretty obvious who was writing them, but watching Ivy jump to the wrong conclusions was both entertaining and endearing.

At its heart, though, this story is about Ivy struggling with feelings of not being enough, and that theme really resonated with me personally. Seeing her journey toward realizing her worth was emotional, uplifting, and beautifully done.

This is different from the romantic suspense books I normally gravitate toward, so it didn’t immediately hook me with fast-paced tension right from the beginning. However, once I got further into the story, especially in the second half, I genuinely did not want to put it down because I needed to know what would happen next.

If you enjoy cozy fantasy, lovable side characters, lighthearted romance, faith-centered themes, and stories about overcoming insecurity and finding your worth, I would definitely recommend Ink & Ivy. I’m already looking forward to reading Marigold’s story in the next book.

This Christian based cozy fantasy is no spice and plenty of swoon! It was fun to dive into a world of talking animals and fae. I thought the blend of human and fae was well done and interesting. The story reveres humans and Christianity.

There are strong themes of Christianity throughout the entire book. Scriptures are quoted many times and the main characters are driven by their faith. The story is told from the POV of the FMC.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author but my opinions are my own. I would recommend this book and love anything by this author!

Ashley Willingham wrote another slam dunk with Ink & Ivy. She is an instant buy author for me, so of course I pre-ordered the ebook, and endured the torturously long wait until release day. I wasn't sure how this was going to go, because it's so different from her other work. Let's start with my first impressions, and then get deeper into specific aspects...

My first impression was the start of this felt very similar to another recent release I read (A Brewed Awakening by Pepper Basham), because a new man comes to a small town, opens a business, and acts in a generally dislikable way. That's where the similarities ended though. This book had whole sections that quoted Pride and Prejudice word for word, and it gives strong Elizabeth & Mr. Darcy sparring vibes, but this story as a whole did not mimic P&P too closely. There was also a part near the end that gave strong You've Got Mail vibes. It was an interesting yet unique mash up of vibes and ideas, but it worked! On the cozy meter, this book is off the charts...I was lucky enough to have a rainy day yesterday and was able to cozy up in bed with a London Fog and read with the rain pattering gently on the windows. The perfect cozy afternoon. As soon as I flipped the last page, I had a strong urge to re-read the book again immediately. I might yet do that before the end of the month!

The story is set in the fantasy world, Gracehaven, which is linked to Earth through some sort of portal that humans had previously passed through. The humans had come as missionaries, bringing Bibles and spreading the gospel to the fantasy creatures in this world (fae, dryads, elves, fable cats and rabbits, etc.). Half human-half fantasy creature hybrids now exist in the world, and there is an underlying storyline involving the half-humans. The FMC is half Dryad-half human and has features of both. The MMC is a high elf. This is the first fantasy book I have read with these types of characters, so it was a bit hard for me to imagine the characters. I did do a few Google searches to get an idea of what these types of creatures would look like! Overall, the setting and characters were interesting, and I enjoyed reading something very new to me.

I do feel like the world was very humanized though, and I would have liked to see more elements of fantasy within the world to match the characters. For example, if you took out the fantasy creatures and the characters were just humans, nothing else would have really seemed like a fantasy world. The way the characters in this setting were Christian, yet weren't human was an interesting take, and I'm not sure how I feel about that to be honest. The book mentions that humans were made in the image of God, and the Bible is the history of their world, but there wasn't really any explanation for God's role in this world where the story takes place. I would have liked just a tad more world-building connecting their creation and relationship to God's design.

Despite the setting being outside of a Biblical scope, there was a massive amount of scripture used throughout the book, really strong faith content and Christian themes. As always, Ashley did a great job with the faith content.

Ivy and Caelen's romance was seriously slow-burn and utterly satisfying. I can't say too much or I'll get into spoilers, but he is a very complex character. The supporting characters were great, and Caelen's daughter Elodie was adorable. The mysterious letters were a really endearing part of the story, and the tension between Ivy's hope for a relationship with the writer against her growing yet unwanted attraction to Caelen was great.

What I enjoyed:
✒️ Coziness
✒️ New-to-me fantasy creatures
✒️ Pride & Prejudice inspired/retelling
✒️ You've Got Mail vibes
✒️ Strong faith & scripture
✒️ Swoony slow-burn romance
✒️ Elodie
✒️ Letters from a secret admirer

⚠️ Content Warnings:
- Very clean overall!
- Orphaned adult character
-Magical creatures: fae, dryads, elves, fable cats & rabbits, etc.
-Light magic (glowing warm skin, dryads growing plants, elves controlling wind, etc.)

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.8 Stars (rounding up to 5)
Writing: 5.0
Characters & Plot: 4.5
Faith & Content: 5.0
Enjoyability: 5.0

While I did deduct half a star due to the lack of world-building that I felt was needed to really cement this world, this was otherwise a 5 star book for me. The familiarity because of the Pride and Prejudice aspects, along with the coziness, made it such a peaceful and enjoyable read. While I had a few small issues, I did overall LOVE this book, and look forward to future books in the Gracehaven series. I have some ideas of where future stories could go, and I'm excited to see them unfold! As always, I also look forward to eventually ordering the book box with swag for this story when I'm able.

If you like Pride and Prejudice, cozy cottage core type stories, light fantasy elements without too many confusing names and backstories, strong faith content, and a sweet romance, this is your book!

Review
Love love this cozy fantasy romance. At first both of them don’t see eye to eye but as they get to know each other, they slowly get closer. Love the secret admirer part where we readers can also try to figure it out with her and her friends. The sweet letters and gifts can make your heart melt and makes you wish that you would get a mail from someone you love.

Their bickering is fun to watch and also the moments with his daughter Elodie was so heartwarming. He is always there to protect her and make sure she is safe and also he knew her secret but kept quiet. And there is his secret too. Can’t spoil that much. Them working together with the children’s ministry too.

You can also see her grow in the Lord and lots of verses that all of us will be able to ponder and also meditate on. She relies on the Lord to give her strength and also him reminding her that she is enough because to God each and every one are precious.

Love the people around them who are always with them and always there to lend a helping hand and also making everyone feel welcome. This book made me smile, laugh, swoon and also see the characters grow in the Lord.

P.S I hope that Marigold will have her happily ever after. I would like to have their magical notebook too. Hehe… and also will use some of Ivy plans for the children’s ministry hehe…remember memory verses are good to help us in times to remind us.

What I learn
We are God’s precious children. He will never leave us and also, He will also take care of us.

He can use any one of us to carry out His plan and also, He has a plan for each and every one of us. He will also equip us with everything that we need and all we had to do is to rely on Him and trust Him.

And also, this book reminds us that we need to love our enemies and one another too. It hard at times especially our enemies but with God’s help anything is possible. So pray that God will help us to love just like He loves us.

I was gifted complimentary ARC. All opinions are my own. Thanks to @ashleywillinghamauthor for the ARC.

This is the first book of the Gracehaven series. If you like Narnia like world this is a story for you. Can’t wait for the next book to be out.

I struggle with self-esteem issues. I often think that I’m not good enough, that I have to prove myself, that my wants and needs impose on others. I set impossible bars for myself to clear: be perfect, get straight A’s, find a spouse, love everyone…. And I can’t. As much as I try, I can’t be perfect, I didn’t get straight A’s, I haven’t found a spouse yet, I still find it hard to love some people.

Ivy is me.

Ink and Ivy by Ashley Willingham asks what would happen if a Narnia-like world heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. Here, dryads and fae and elves worship at churches alongside fairytale animals. They read the Bible. And at the same time, there is the high society of Victorian England, with elegance and the ton and vicious desires for titles.

Ivy Fairwood, a half-dryad, has lived in Gracehaven since she was born. She’s living with her best friend while she saves up to buy the corner shop. But… Mr. Caelen Vale, a high elf widower, buys it first. When she goes to meet him and welcome him, a misunderstanding worthy of Jane Austen leads to a Pride and Prejudice situation where both despise the other. Soon after, a secret admirer known as “Fern” begins to write to Ivy, and this admirer knows Ivy deeply. Who can it be?

Ivy and “Fern” each have their own spiritual struggles, and while we don’t see “Fern” and his journey very much, it seems to mirror Ivy’s. For Ivy is lost. She, like me, thinks of herself as small, as unimportant, as unable to take up space in the world. One of her great desires for buying a shop? So that she doesn’t take up others’ room.

Ink and Ivy follows Ivy as she wrestles with Mr. Vael’s presence, “Fern’s” admiration, and her relationship with God. The sublimity of her internal work is matched by the power of “Fern’s” journey. For we do end up learning enough of his story, and it is glorious to behold.

Should you read this? I think so. If you have even a little inkling that you aren’t good enough, that you take up too much space… this book is for you. If you need a Christian romance that will make you cry… this book is for you. If you’ve ever wondered whether Narnians went to church… this book is for you.

Ashley Willingham wrote a book here that seems “low-stakes.” But really, what’s higher stakes than love and the fate of your soul?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If I could give this book ten stars, I absolutely would! I told my husband immediately upon finishing that it was my new favorite book.

I have loved everything I've ever read by Ashley Willingham, but this one is so incredibly special.

🥧 The world of Gracehaven is so picturesque; think Narnia with adult main characters who live and work together in a charming small town. Ivy Fairwood lives above a bakery with her best friend, and is saving to open a tea and herbalist shop in an empty building down the street. Her plans seem to be dashed when a mysterious, wealthy, stranger moves into town and buys the very building she had her sights on.

✒️ Caelen is a stoic elf (eek!) who moved to Gracehaven with his young daughter. The widower promptly opens a stationary shop in Ivy's building. Their first meeting is less than friendly, and Ivy is convinced she and Caelen will be at odds for the foreseeable future.

☕ When Ivy begins receiving letters from a secret admirer, she can't believe someone would be interested in her. But as they continue to exchange letters back and forth, the writer shows her how precious she really is.

🌻 This book took me to all my happy places: fantasy, cozy cottage core, characters who crochet and collect plants (shout out to the monstera in Ivy's living room!), love letters, baking, embroidery, beautiful journals and fancy pens, and so much more.

🧶 I absolutely fell in love with Ivy and related so much to her. She struggles with feeling like she is enough, has a bit of sass, and loves the comfort of her own bed. She is messy, starts projects but never gets around to finishing them, and prefers the company of a few close friends to large crowds.

⛪ The faith themes are so strong in this story and are incredibly beautiful: learning to trust in God's timing, realizing how much He values each person, and recognizing he has a plan and purpose for every life.

✨ I cannot express how much this book impacted me. I laughed out loud, cried actual tears, and finished feeling so uplifted and refreshed. I am so excited Ashley plans to continue the Gracehaven series, because I doubt I will ever get enough of it.

I received an advance reader copy from the author in order to provide an honest review. The thoughts and opinions of this work are entirely my own.

I absolutely loved this sweet and cozy romantasy! Gracehaven is my kind of town, with neighbors who all know and look out for each other.

At first, it was a little hard to get over the idea that the characters were introduced to faith by missionaries from Earth. But in doing so, the author was able to use on page scripture and prayer which I always love having in the books I read. I find it so encouraging and relatable to my own walk. So although I like the idea of allegory in Christian Fantasy, I also think the way faith was written into this story just works once you get past it. And knowing the author's reasoning behind WHY she wrote it as she did helped a LOT.

I very much enjoyed peeling back the layers to the MC's as I read this book. Ivy and Caelen had real life struggles, insecurities, wit, friendships, and relationship dynamics. Their insecurities weren't quickly glossed over and tied with a neat little bow. Neither were they solved by another person. Instead, they wrestled, prayed, and sought the Lord. They found answers in the Word. I related to Ivy's struggles and insecurities a lot, so I appreciated this very much!

This book had elements of both Narnia and Pride & Prejudice while still being an original work. It did have some lines that one might almost consider quotes, yet the plot and storyline were unique and fun. And being that I LOVE both Narnia and P&P, that just made me love the book even more. It was like briefly saying hello to an old friend. I was so caught up in the story, I did not want to put it down! I cannot wait for the second installment with Marigold!

This book was like nothing I’ve read before, and I mean that in all the best ways! It declares itself to be a Cozy Christian Fantasy Romance right on the (breathtakingly beautiful!) cover, and it follows through on every count.

Cozy: The story is a warm hug full of friendship, baked goods, sunshine, rainstorms, quirky characters, and themes of being admired and loved for being exactly who you are, set in a regency inspired world with proper (and not so proper) customs and etiquette.

Christian: This book is full of quoted scripture, on-page prayers, the gospel, characters going to church, reading the Bible, repentance, forgiveness, praising and thanking God, listening to the Holy Spirit, faith, hope, love, and learning to trust and lean on God.

Fantasy: There are a whole host of fantastical creatures residing in the world of this book, mentions of portals to the human world, very light “magic” that is more science, and some special abilities that are God-given and natural to different beings.

Romance: This is absolutely a romance book! It is a Pride and Prejudice retelling that features a delightful slow burn romance, a mysterious secret admirer, a fancy ball, and the wonderfulness of hearts opening themselves up to love.

I was not sure what I would truly find when I opened this book, but in the end it held me captive with the mystery, convicted my heart with the scriptures, led me to tears with the encouraging words, made me laugh from the humor, and made me smile and sigh from the beautiful romance. If anything I have written above sounds like something you enjoy reading about in books, then this one is for you. I highly recommend it!

Thank you to the author for the eARC. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given willingly.

Thank you to Ashley for sending me an eARC of this to read & review. It was fun to be part of the release team for this beautiful book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ivy Fairwood who is 1/2 human and 1/2 dryad lives in Gracehaven. She has spent many years saving to buy her own shop and then one morning when she wakes up it has been purchased out from under her. She is very upset. Regardless of her feelings, her friends send her to give the new shop proprietor and his daughter a welcome basket from the welcome committee. Caelen Vail and his daughter Elodie have moved to Gracehaven to escape the confines of the capital, and its marriage mart. He is not happy to immediately find a girl at his door. He reacts rudely. This sets her off in turn. He is not sure what to think. Meanwhile, Ivy starts receiving letters from a secret admirer. All the while, she and Caelen keep getting thrown together.

I am convinved that Ashley Willingham can write what ever type of fantasy she sets out to write. This book was so beautiful, and so cozy. I do wish we had gotten just a tad more world building, but that is a minor critique. I left this story wanting tea and baked goods, and a new journal. On the spiritual side, in this book Ashley Willingham really lays out the faith content and scripture- almost to the point of feeling a bit preachy at times- but not quite. This book does have a bit of redemption arc.

If you love Christian fantasy that is sweet but also cozy, and has magical creatures this might be your book. If you don’t care much for blatant faith content then you might avoid this one.

This book was so sweet and precious🥹 and all the descriptions of the baked goods had me craving treats🤤 also, the descriptions of the nature scenes were so magical✨

The reason why I absolutely adore all of Ashley Willingham’s books is the way she weaves faith seamlessly into her worlds and writing. In Gracehaven, the faith is the most clear since it is the same as in our world but it was wonderful. I loved the idea that missionaries from earth (our world) came and brought the gospel to the world of Luminara and the history of the place with mentions of the Troll Wars and the portals to earth closing and human kings (Narnia-vibes), so fun and interesting!

And of course, the letters😍 the secret admirer and yearning and the Mr. Darcy awkward, stoic vibes coming from Caelen - I loved it!❤️ And I loved with all the characters, but with Ivy specifically, the character development and increase of faith was so well done. She did not just accept her flaws and say “oh that’s just my quirks” but she knew she needed to bring it to the Lord and try to be better. I appreciated that so much!

So cute, so cozy! If you are looking for a springy/summery book to curl up with kicking-your-feet, swoon-worthy romance but with faith-filled depth then look no further because this is it!🤗💕

I’ll be eagerly awaiting book 2👀

I received an ARC of Ink & Ivy from the author, but all thoughts are my own.

This is yet another FIVE STAR read from the amazing Ashley Willingham. I have yet to read a book of hers I even find "meh"

In this Pride & Prejudice (though I actually thought it almost felt a little more like "You've Got Mail") x Chronicles of Narnia x Christian worldview book, you're given the story of Ivy and Caelen as they navigate following God, learning to forgive one another, and falling in love (none of which is easy).

I loved the entire cast of characters; even the ones I disliked were well-written. Both Ivy and Caelen had struggles, quirks, moments of great faith, and were just fun characters to read about.

The on-page use of scripture was wonderful, and I loved being able to see them worship God literally, rather than a fantasy God-like figure. People can say whatever they think about the theology behind it - they are always entitled to their opinions, and they may not even be wrong - but I seriously appreciated it. Sometimes, it's nice to see the characters' faith in ways you can relate to without having to change something out.

There was no spice, gore, or cussing - as always for Ashley Willingham - and I appreciate that :)

I can't wait to see how the rest of the series goes, and how other characters progress!

Ivy is a young woman with a dream: to buy her own building and open her own apothecary business. ✨

However, just as that dream feels within reach, a man arrives and purchases the very building she had been saving for—leaving Ivy convinced that her dream has been crushed.

Then, as life takes an unexpected turn, Ivy begins receiving mysterious letters from a secret admirer. Not only are his letters thoughtful and deeply encouraging to her walk with God, but he also happens to make the most delectable desserts. 🩷📖🍰

If you love cozy Christian fantasy, this one feels like stepping into a world filled with whimsy, wonder, and faith. It gave me the enchanting fantasy atmosphere and Christian themes of The Chronicles of Narnia paired with the delightful tension, relationships, and character dynamics of Pride and Prejudice.

Throughout the story, on-page prayer and Scripture are beautifully woven in, encouraging the characters’ relationship with God and adding so much depth to their journey.

If you love cozy fantasy, sweet romance, meaningful faith themes, and a story that feels warm and magical, add “Ink and Ivy” by @ashleywillinghamauthor to your TBR now! It releases in just 6 days on June 16th—and trust me, this is one you will want to already have preordered! ✨

Summary: Half-dryad Ivy wants to open her own apothecary shop to serve the inhabitants of Gracehaven, from the Fable-rabbit family who owns the tailor shop to her friend Bastian the dragon shapeshifter.

Notes: I love this book! I read it because I liked Ashley Willingham's fairytale books...and this is even better! (I can't wait for the second book) Gracehaven is such a cute town with a wide variety of inhabitants: wood elves, fae, shapeshifters, fauns, talking animals, two humans, and more. The humans came to this world from ours as missionaries to share the gospel. So yes, there is a centaur who is the pastor of the Gracehaven church. (Please don't get into a theological tangle.) If you want a cozy Christian fantasy-romance read, this book is the one for you.

Age of main character: Thirty-something

Violence: A thunderstorm and a downpour. That is it.

Romance: Yes. Clean, of course, like all of Ashley Willingham's books (and all the books I will review) but rather Halmark-ish. (not that I mind!)

Scary themes: One character ignores her human heritage because all the half-human orphans are taken to the capital and she didn't want to leave Gracehaven. The orphans are adopted and treated well, she just didn't want to leave.

Genre: Cozy Romance/High Fantasy

I loved the Christian aspect…other than that, this book was soooooo predictable. I even told my friend the main jist of the story and she was like, oh the girl probably falls in love with that guy, and thats exactly what happened. Wouldnt really recommend this. The writing was super purple prose and the story wasnt very original. I was getting pride and prejudice vibes but at the same time cheesy predictable romance vibes. Unless you really like an almost cringe romance, I wouldn’t say this is worth reading. The only part I did like about it this was it was COMPLETELY clean!!! That was awesome! And the Bible verse were great. Even though I wouldnt recommend this book, heres a little context;

Ink & Ivy follows a girl named Ivy who dreams of owning her own Apothecary in cozy, fantasy town Gracehaven. But those dreams get crushed when Caelen Vale buys the only empty storefront in their little town. She is so angry at him, but Caelen might be more innocent than she thinks. Then, Ivy begins receiving love letters from a secret admirer…

So yeah, it was okay, but didn’t really interest me and the writing style was not my taste. A little too flowery.

This was such a wonderfully written and seriously sweet book. I've loved everything I've read of Ashley's so far and this is right up there at the top. Her stories are all so unique and fun to read.

Ink & Ivy is a super cozy Christian fantasy romance. It takes place in an intriguing and enjoyable magical fantasy world with interesting characters and talking animals! I had some major Narnia mixed with Pride and Prejudice vibes from this one, which seems is exactly what Ashley was going for.

In this story you get fantastic characters, exchanging of letters, a secret admirer, on page prayer and Bible study, and the coolest talking cat. What more do you need?

Also, the cover and chapter header art is absolutely gorgeous!

I highly recommend anything Ashley has written. So after you read this it's time to start binging the backlog! 😁

I received an advanced review copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion and thoughts

When I got the email announcing this adorable world in book form, I got excited to be one of the first to dive in! I had heard it pitched as Pride & Prejudice meets Cruel Prince. I adore CP so I had high hopes! I will say that the miscommunication trope is not for me, so I found myself becoming a smidge anxious with the pacing. I would say it’s more Legends & Lattes over Cruel Prince, though. Very cozy, but fantasy only in the types/species of characters.

I loved the character development, loved the town, loved seeing their responses to conflict. It felt very akin to my own experiences, endeavoring to always become a better version of myself. Ashley does a great job of letting us see their struggles, how they come to terms with how their response should’ve been, and how they come to seek forgiveness from one another. It happened a few times in this book, and I look forward to continuing to hear more about the residents of Gracehaven.

Ashley has a beautiful way of making readers fall in love with Christian fantasy. And let me be clear—this is fantasy. It’s a fictional world, but the faith woven throughout the story is absolutely beautiful. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever read a fantasy book with so many Bible verses naturally incorporated into the story.

The world-building is incredible, the slow-burn romance is sweet and clean, and the story is filled with mystery, questions, and moments that keep you turning the pages. And can we talk about the food? The desserts alone will make you fall in love with this book a second time!

Ashley creates an elegant and immersive world with just the right amount of Regency-era charm, making it feel both magical and familiar at the same time.

This is book one in the series, and now I desperately need book two because I have so many questions and need to know what happens next!

I am so honored to be part of the hype team for this release. I received an ARC copy from the author and was under no obligation to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

**I read this ARC as part of the street hype team, but all thoughts are my own.**

I absolutely adored this cute, whimsical romance featuring Ivy and Caelen - a half dryad and an elf, who live in the town of Gracehaven, a place that is a mixture of fantastical creatures meets Bridgerton society.

One of my favourite classics is Pride and Prejudice and this reminded me of it in the most sweet way. This was the first Christian fantasy novel I have read, and I loved the inclusion of passages from our Gospel. It was so endearing to see characters imprinting scripture onto their hearts, and applying it to day-to-day situations.

I also was very impressed with the writing style as this was the first novel I have read of hers, and I have to say - I can't wait to read more!

Oh dear. It feels like this book was written just for me, exactly for this time.

Ivy Fairwood and Caelen Vael are a combination of Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy and Kathleen Kelley and Joe Fox, but in high elf and half-dryad form. From their pride and prejudice to the correspondence by letter (not to mention his buying the storefront she wanted adding in the business aspects), it’s just the best of two of my absolute favorite worlds.

And then you add in the scripture, and the prayer…oh dear.

It really is perfect, and one I can see myself reading again and again, especially when struggling with feeling close to God in times of trial.

I can’t wait for Book 2!

Note: I received an advance copy of the novel but this opinion is entirely my own.

I adored this little book. Don't get me wrong; I loved Willingham's epic fantasy series and her fairytale retellings, but this book speaks to me on a different level. A young woman trying to find her place in the world after all her dreams seem to have been dashed; a man trying to escape a life he's never really enjoyed. It was cozy, it was romantic, and it had the Hand of the Divine present within it.

Did I know exactly where this was going to end? Heck, yeah, but it was more about the journey, seeing the two characters slowly realize how many fronts they both put up and how desperately they wanted to be seen for who they truly were. It was absolutely beautiful, and I am so excited for more of this world.
