Bred for Love #1

The Prince's Consort

Rate this book
In a world where humans are genetically designed, altered and sold for sexual pleasure and breeding, a young prince of the powerful Cassian Dynasty decides to take a mate and sire heirs. Not wishing to saddle himself with royal and meddlesome in-laws, and a wife he would have no desire to bed, Prince Edward goes to Heritage Breeders, and finds far more than just a warm body to sate his lust and carry on his lineage.

Percy is the result of a master DNA architect designing himself his own personal sex slave and breeder. Yet when his creator and Master dies, leaving Percy alone at the mercy of the callous stable masters and the new owner of Heritage, he fears his future. Afraid he'll be bought by a wretched old man or a deviant monster, Percy is terrified when he is dragged from his cell and presented to the most prestigious client Heritage has ever welcomed...a Cassian Royal.

Prince Edward is immediately infatuated with the shy, nervous and enchantingly beautiful Percy, and claims him for his own. Yet not everyone is pleased by a royal purchasing a breeder, especially one like Percy, and tensions rise both in Heritage and in the palace.

Torn between desire, duty, a king's command and the innermost desires of their hearts, Edward and Percy are set on path that is anything but easy. Can Percy trust Edward with his heart as he does his body? Can Edward keep an angry king and unseen enemies away from the young slave who is steadily stealing his heart?

And what happens when Nature takes its course, and sex leads to more than just pleasure?

A 50k+ word novella, 160 pages, book one in a series. 18+ adult readers, contains sexual situations of male/male sex. Lots of sex. Collaring, master/slave.

OMG! What did I just read?! It was fantastic this book utterly fascinated me.

"The Prince's Consort" is book one in the "Breed For Love series" and wow! What a way to start! This was my first mpreg read and I love it. I was kinda hesitant at first but I soon as I read the first chapter I was hooked.

description

Prince Edward wants children but he doesn't want a wife to deal with, especially when he prefers males for his sexual partners. He decides to go to heritages breeders where he can choose his perfect male for his sexual needs and to sire his heirs. Percy is especially design for sex and to breed. His never left the heritage house and has been kept alone and innocent of anything in life. As soon as Edward sees Percy his captivated by his beauty and innocence and knows his found the perfect mate.

description

Like I said I found this utterly fascinating the way it's explain of how this males are able to carry and have children made total sense for me. The love between Edward and Percy was insta love but so beautiful and sweet. Be still my heart Edward was a true prince, he treated Percy with so much tenderness and patience. Percy broke my heart being kept in the heritage house all his life but he got his happiness when his prince found him.

description

In this first book we see the bond between Edward/Percy start from tentative to full blown passionate. By reading the blurb of the next book I know there's a storm coming for these males where they're going to have to fight to stay together.

Can't wait to read more of this series I hope it gets better. I'm under the spell of this author with her compelling writing and fascinating characters of the Cassia Dynasty. ❤️

Just as wonderful as the first time. ~ *happy sigh* ~
😌

Wow .. Am I the only one who wishes that I were in Cassian Dynasty and I, too, could buy breeders from Heritage? 😂 Such a classic perverted Shin, huh? 😏Anyhow, everything about this novel is just so wrong and so right!!! Well, not gonna lie, I'm really a sucker for HEA and dramatic romance. This book is everything I ever wanted in my wildest fantasies. And may be this one is not everyone's cuppa but it definitely was mine. ❤️❤️❤️

Cassia is an imaginary country where there is still executive monarchy and slavery is considered legal and perfectly ok. They are a leading country in genetic manipulation and they create breeders aka sex slaves to sate the various needs of wealthy men and novels.

Price Edward is the youngest son of the ruling monarch of Cassia and he's gay. There is 10 people between the throne and him and he doesn't need to have a political marriage that would favor his position as a prospective monarch . And since he enjoy the company of men and he still wants heirs to secure his personal estates and titles, he decided to buy a male breeder to obtain heirs.

And Percy is a young, shy, gullible and innocent male breeder who's afraid that an old, bald, ugly man would buy him and rape him again and again until he bore heirs for his master. He never expected that a handsome .. a very handsome and kind Cassian prince would purchase him and make him his consort.

Let me say, the attraction is constant and electric. It sparkles when they touch, flowing with electrifying attraction. And the sex?!? It’s freaking hot! The smut in this love story was just deliciously dirty! Sooooo my cuppa!
😁

I love both MCs. The epitome of Prince Charming and damsel in distress! 😉 And the storyline, wow, it really is unique, very romantic and extremely erotic. No wonder though since Revella Hawthorne is another S.J. Himes and I'm really a huge, huge fan of her works. She writes so manipulatively and masterfully well that every time I read her novels, I wish I had a cock. Is that weird? 😂😂😂

Anyhow, Enough babbling. I’m sure everyone knows it by now that I am a crazy stalker fan of Himes. I’d even buy her blank books. 😁 Saying that, I just love, loooooveeeee this novel. Can’t wait to read more adventures of Edward and Percy! ❤️❤️❤️

Favorite excerpt from the novel: 💗💜💗

“Tell me what you want,” Edward demanded, serious and earnest.

“You. You, me, our baby. Together,” Percy replied instantly, a helpless bystander to the battle between fear and hope in his heart. “Always.”

“Always, little one,” Edward promised, and Percy met him in an open mouthed kiss, joy fueling every touch and faint mewling cry.
Always sounded wonderful.”

It was just ME not the book. My friends loved this book but it was weird/strange for me. It was my first read in Mpreg books and I couldn't enjoy it! This alternating male body didn't really work for me but I hope you enjoy it, at least more than me!

I need the rest of this series NOW!!

This book made me happy! It made me feel good! It made me warm and sexy, and I just have to read the rest of this series!

Five stars for feelz. Yes. That’s what this is. I’m not ashamed to admit that I fell in love with an MPREG book. That I fell in love with insta-love. Nope. Holding my smut loving head up high, I am.

Percy, the breeder, is adorable. Think twink slave. Self lubricating. With a NEED to procreate. But only when stimulated.

Edward, the prince, is charming. Think manly trunk of a man. His machinations start up Percy’s lube love. Edward can’t get enough of him. Feeds him grapes. I want him to feed ME grapes. Alas, I’m not a breeder with internal milking muscles.

Sooooo, there’s lots of sex. It’s warranted, this is erotica. But wait! There’s a plot, too! Or at least a set up for one in the next books.

My grade: A+++++++
Sexy, inventive, touching, plus has a social commentary, to boot!

Very very cute. I’m not sure this is for everyone, since the cuteness and the sweetness is very OTT, but it worked for me, since I like that sort of cheesiness.

This takes place in Cassian, a kingdom with modern day technology. Prince Edward want heirs, but since he is 10th in line for the crown, he has no obligation to marry for the kingdom. Especially since he does not want a wife, he wants a man as his consort. And that’s why a breeder sounds like a good choice. Breeders are men or women designed to breed. They are simply created to procreate.

It is at Heritage Breeders that Edward finds Percy, an 18 year old innocent looking young man. The other breeders are all on display and look eager to bed him and carry his children. But Percy is different. He looks scared and out of his depth. Edward is immediately drawn to him and knows he has no other choice but to buy this sweet young man.

Percy is expecting to become what breeders are supposed to be, a slave to be mounted, impregnated and then separated from his child to be called back once it is time to be impregnated again. What he didn’t count on is for his new master to treat him like a real human being…

This was incredibly sweet. Percy is a scared young virgin of a boy and Edward is the big protective man who will make all the hurt go away. And that’s what happens. Edward won’t let anything hurt Percy and takes care of him as a lover should.

This ends in a strong HFN, but I do want to read the sequel, since Percy gets at the end of this.

This book gave me all the warm fuzzies. It might have a bit too much sexy times, but nothing to really complain about. And the reverse knotting (as Rachel so eloquently called it) was a different touch!

3.5*

While I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of mpreg I am a huge fan of this author (SJ Himes) and having just re-reading her amazing necromancer series I decided I’d finally give this a try.

Prince Edward is third son to the king but with his older brothers both having children he’s now so far down the line of succession that he’s free to make his own choices. And he wants a male breeder.
Now in this world humans are genetically designed, altered and sold for sexual pleasure and breeding. Edward wants children but he doesn’t want to marry and he certainly doesn’t want the stress of titled in-laws.
So he finds himself at Heritage a breeding house. Edward is intrigued by Percy and I must admit I was as well. Percy is different. He was designed specially by and for the previous owner Mr Cartwright. But with Mr. Cartwright dead Percy is afraid of what his future will hold as he’s taken from his cell and prepared for viewing.

What makes Percy so special and why doesn’t Mr Wimble (the new owner of Heritage) seem to want to part with him?
Why did the king give permission and then completely change his mind?

I’m intrigued and moving straight onto the next book The King’s Command.

Edward is completely taken with Percy and together they’re so sweet, there’s a definite them against the world thing building.

So why only 3.5*?

Sex. There’s a lot of sex as you’d expect I suppose but the balance is off for me.

LOL, sorry, but I can't get into this. Genetically altered men aka 'breeders' with self-lubricating assholes, bearing children through I don't know what part of their anatomy...

Plus a fairy tale prince with a smartphone who tries his best not to mount his breeder at every opportunity... because he wants kids, of course.

It's just too much...

imagine a treacle factory exploded and kilos of treacle just landed over every building and road in like, a two mile radius. imagine the amount of sugar. just imagine it.

this was sugarier than that.

which makes it very surprising that i liked it because i'm literally the most angsty emo in the entire goddamn world and yet with all these pet names and declarations of love i was squealing like some sort of sappy twelve year old. how did Hawthorne make me love this instead of rolling my eyes?? i don't know, but she did.

despite me actually liking the molasses-drenched adorableness, however, i did think at times it could be a bit too much because there didn't seem to be much conflict in the book. there was a little bit, but i felt like everything just went a bit too smoothly. (yeah, i know, i'm so angsty, sue me.) but i'm curious to see where the story goes next. in addition, the worldbuilding was actually pretty good. it wasn't some sort of half-assed thing that you usually get in dystopian/sci-fi/etc. erotica, it made sense and it was relatively well developed, so that was a plus.

if you like m/m erotic romance but you don't usually go for mpreg, you should maybe give this a shot anyways. you may be pleasantly surprised.

I just couldn't....naturally lubricating buttholes, futuristic male breeders, smartphones (blahhhh texting), little tiny little one Percy.

Not my cuppa. But I tried. Not even the copious amounts of Oh! Please, master! Fuck me, master!!!! could make this more enjoyable for me. Well, okay it was enjoyable for a minute until the self lubing butt hole mentioned above. Nope.

Sexy AU

Sweet, super sexy, low angst alternate universe master/slave mpreg romance.

A surprisingly sweet novella when you consider that one of the main characters is genetically bred and modified to be able to carry children and purchased as a slave.

But it really was quite sweet. Edward does all that is within his power to elevate Percy to a secure position of consort to ensure he, and their children, will be cared for and protected even if something happens to Edward.

I liked the dual POV, the interaction between the characters, the side characters...really I just enjoyed the whole thing with the exception of the mild cliffhanger.

On to book two!

Oh hey, surprise! I picked this book at random after seeing it on someone else's feed and I'm so very glad I did.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, was holding my interest last night...until I started reading this. Instantly I was intrigued by the setting, the world-building was pretty tight (not much different than now other than the genetic manipulation, but the detail on that was top-notch) and it was easy to like the characters. And the sex, holy cow! Hot stuff there, but it also packed an emotional punch as well.

I also appreciated the character growth; no, there's not a lot of room for it (I want to say there was too much sex, but I won't) but you can see Percy coming into his own and Edward becoming very cognizant of his duties & role as Percy's protector. I really liked that he even started to think about how other breeders are being treated (as barely sentient pets or sex-toys with a pulse) & how they're so easy to abuse given the way they're left at the breeding house once pregnant (housed in cells, aren't allowed to have any contact with babies they bear)...and hope that continues to evolve in the next book.

Speaking of, that ending was very cliffhangery but without the dramatic tension; the relationship has been firmly established but why everyone is so against Percy being Edward's consort, and why the new boss at Heritage was so possessive/territorial about Percy hasn't been resolved. Plus, BABIES!! Yes, I need to see Percy with about a dozen of them.

(P.S. Interesting choice there mentioning the economic impact of the genetic breeding program and the businesses it would impact if challenged or changed; combined with the tiny detail of breeders being tinkered with so that they can't pass on to their offspring the ability to conceive...it makes me wonder if that is what makes Percy special. Either that, or I've been reading too many articles about Monsanto strangling the seed market and working to keep infertile the seeds of crops harvested from their GMO lines...which they technically don't, but they do prohibit farmers from using the seeds past first generation.)

OMG. You guys don’t know how much I loved this book! It’s just all kinds of awesome! The story! The concept! The dialogues! The sexy times between Edward and Percy! Ugh. Just so good. I didn’t think I’d love an MPREG story this much! I loved the mixed up of old royal tradition with all the modern stuff! I loved Percy’s sweet innocence and I loved Edward’s brother Mason!

Chan and I have decided that we can't be true M/M connoisseurs if we don't dabble in mpreg. We just want to be well-rounded, you know? I also just HAVE to know how they are going about this whole male pregnancy thing. The sperm goes through the butt.. and then what? Where does the baby come out?! The urethra? Butthole? I liked this. I enjoy mpreg, so if a story can be written well with mpreg, I'm very happy with it. This also has a master/slave type of relationship going on because "breeders" as they are called in this are meant to basically just be objects with a hole that can carry a child to term and then be discarded, basically, once the child is born. And Percy calls Edward 'master' for a majority of this and still thinks it in his head sometimes when Edward - finally - asks Percy to call him Edward.

It definitely gave an unequal feel for the majority of this - slightly uncomfortable - BUT near the last third of the book things really started to change. Now I dunno if by the end of the series Percy will be able to be fully free and equal in the relationship with Edward, but I'm hoping that is where it leads with this series.

I liked these two together. They had hot sex, yes, and I do have to say I did enjoy when Edward was caring for Percy - holding him close, making sure he got fed, making sure he was happy - but there was the obvious imbalance throughout this book. Obviously intentional so I don't count that as a negative, but it just made me somewhat uncomfortable when Percy was treated somewhat like a child at times.

But oh did I love Percy. He was sweet, caring, kind - he obviously won Edward over quickly with his utter kindness and sweetness. Now, I feel like if you give a male in books more 'feminine' traits that there is a fine line. Because I feel like yes, definitely go for it because men and women are not all masculine or all feminine with none of the other masculine or feminine traits, and a man can totally be sensitive, sweet, demure, and yes, cry as much as they damn well please. But I feel like when doing this, you don't want to be sexist as well.

I don't think the author was sexist, there was never any comments about how Percy was doing 'girly' things, ever. Not by Edward or anyone else. I mean, yes, he was still in a place of subservience but it wasn't because he was 'like' a woman or anything. I appreciated that.

Edward was kind, gentle, and basically just worshipped Percy since the moment he got him. Obviously, it was annoying that he saw nothing wrong with how 'breeders' are treated in their society, but he did start to see by the end, which made me SO happy. Like when the doctor giving Percy a sonogram at the end doesn't even thinks of Percy's comfort and Edward is there to remind the asshole.

I enjoyed this overall, it was actually pretty well written. I think my ultimate problem is just that there's no one who seems to think there is anything wrong with the way 'breeders' are treated until Edward realizes it near the end. Is Edward the first, or are there more we just haven't seen? I guess since they're around rich, royal people for the majority of this, we're not gonna see people who think anything is wrong with it. Still, it would have been nice to hear of like, 'stirrings' of rebels and such.

Overall a pretty good start to the series. Edward and Percy have a good connection I can't wait to see more of. I'll wait to read more until the lasts book is out, but I'm definitely keeping this series on my to-read list :)

I got The Prince’s Consort for free on Amazon one day. I adore Revella Hawthorne as a person and I so much wanted to read her work. This seemed like the perfect opportunity. Of course time got away from and obligations took the forefront. FINALLY, I saw it on my kindle and said, “I have to read this.” And so I finally did…. And it was wonderful.

I haven’t read many MPreg stories. The ones I’ve read are all shifter books I believe. This one is so very unique. Edward is a Prince. I know, we all want one! Well, he’s the third son and there’s a ton of nephews so he’s like 8 billionth in line and the possibility of him taking the thrown is super slim. So, he wants a breeder to have his kids and the King is fine with it. Too easy? Yeah that’s because it is.

In this book Revella has created this interesting take on breeders. Men and women born to birth a person’s child. The details and such I leave for you to read. It’s horribly sad but this book is also quite symbolic. When Edward sees Percy, a breeder, he is immediately taken with him and so their story begins.

It’s when Edward really sees Percy and realizes how special he is and how he actually truly cares (maybe even loves) him does the whole idea of breeders and people in confinement to be mounted appalling. Isn’t that our parallel? How people who are people in a different line of society, or gender, or sexual orientation are treated? How we stand up and march and fight for their, our, equality. Needless to say I can see a revolution coming.

Percy and Edward are amazing. Edward’s protection and care for Percy and Percy’s adoration and sweet shyness; it all works brilliantly. I would say this had a soft cliffhanger. One that makes you want to continue reading on but also leaves you sated in a way. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to book 2.

I have been on a rampage, hunting down this author ( a.k.a S.J. Himes as well). Her writing always amazes me and holds my attention constantly and instantly. her story flows smoothly and captivatingly. her worldbuilding is top-notch and so elaborate with details. I swear her imagination is deserved to be admired and praised.

Percy is a work of art. he is pure ecstasy to be with: demure, shy, enticingly beautiful, kind-hearted, and brave. he has been on a constant fear to be tossed aside after being used, but Edward has come to his rescue and made Percy's dream come true and best possible.

THIS SERIES IS SO DELICATE AND INTENSE WITH THE COMPLICATIONS OF THE ROYALS AND THE SWEETNESS AND DELICIOUSNESS OF THEIR LOVE.

The prince doesn't want a wife but he wants an heir. Although he has 2 older brothers so it's not much an obligation. So, he decided to take a breeder(slave?). He certainly didn't expect to fall in love with the breeder.

The Prince is so attentive and passionate towards Percy. I love seeing that. It was sweet. But... I don't really like slow paced book. Sometimes the writing felt dragged. I rounded up because I really liked the story. :)

I loved this book! It was not overly long and ended on cliffhanger and it just whetted my appetite! I love the whole concept of a royal prince falling in love with his slave/breeder. The whole idea of DNA modification is unusual. I loved Percy and how he was - curious, fascinated by everything, shy but slightly coming out of his shell in the end.

Prince Edward was a nice surprise. The way he accepted Percy and treated him with decency when breeders are considered less than human made me view him in positive light. I really enjoyed his interactions with and care for Percy. It was a bit of a stretch how fast he fell in love with him but thinking about his family and the dynamics with different family members made me think that there was not a lot of love lost between some of them so he got it where he could - from Percy.

I loved the whole kit and caboodle: the mushy stuff, the cultural and historical side of Cassia, the sexy. Oh yes please, it was so hot! They burned the sheets. And while some would think that this type of relationship might possibly be considered unequal I think because Percy was designed different with a great degree of intelligence he was not a mindless or spineless idiot like all the others. He was willing and a happy participant in the relationship and that's what made the whole difference for me. I adored them together and can't wait to find out what happens next!

I might sound shallow, but I loved this book. The story line was simple, and the characters suffered of a strong case of insta-love, but overall it worked. The author did a great job creating interesting characters and building a credible alternate universe around them. The MCs relationship is reminiscent of a typical Alpha/Omega relationship, but the situations they were involved with were pretty much normal, even with one of them being Royal.

The book can even be read as a stand-alone without missing any important element. But even so, I'm looking forward to the other books in the series.

I keep feeling that Percy is not a 10yr old kid but 18. Amd that's why everything that Edward says to him and does with him sounds Pedophilic. Feeding him. Calling him Little man. Comparing his behavior to his small nieces and nephews. Ruffling his hair. Making him sit on his lap and tucking him in his neck CONSTANTLY.

No More. I give up at 50%

Okay, the reason I loved this so much, was constantly petting my kindle and making cooing noises, is how beautifully sweet and genuine this story is. I never for a second doubted Percy or Edward.

Percy, in his sheltered, earnest innocence, captured my heart and brought my protective nature out roaring. I cannot wait to see him with the kiddo! Hope I get pages of that!

And, EDWARD! Once in a blue moon (I think this is only the second time) I run into a character that, if I could master magic, would pluck out of the book and marry this second. Edward--I want in my life so badly! He is the epitome of sweetness, care, physical affection, protectiveness, a loving nature, courage, decisiveness, beauty, strength, and everything good, and all without being the silly, bonehead alpha-male that way too many MCs are these days.

I came in with mediocre expectations, and this blew me away. Sure, there were a few grammatical errors, but so much of mpreg--or just captured/slaves/dub-con/non-con--is either made of illogical relationships, bullying, and repressed feelings, or 3-star sickly saccharine sweetness with some 3-star side plots of danger and deceit to add a little spice, that this story felt original, true, and appealing in a way I haven't felt probably since Sacred Fate.

This was a story full of everything good and sweet in my idealized world. (This book wasn't all sweetness by the way, there was set up for danger and dissent from some of the other characters.) Regardless of its few faults, this book was still everything for me. I probably shouldn't like as much as I did; I mean it's not really on par with most of the other books I've 5-starred, but sometimes you just gotta go with your gut and do it anyway because of how a book makes you feel.

I'm totally moving on to book two soon as I can, and going to seriously look into black magic to make Edward come to life for me.

*4.5* This is a world with kings and queens (but modern, cars not horses), where creating your own breeder (male or female, or some combination in-between), is normal. These breeders are slaves, genetically altered humans designed for a specific purpose and then thrown away. This is mpreg, but explained in a way that kinda makes sense...kinda.

It’s a cinderella-like story featuring Percy, a sheltered male breeder, who has been raised in a cage. Edward, third son of the king, who picks Percy out of a humiliating line-up and takes him home with him. It’s insta-love/lust and I was just fine with that.

From the author that brought us Wolves of Black Pine it has that same sweet feel to the couple. (Revella Hawthorne is the pen name for author SJ Himes)

There is a lot of descriptive sex in this book, but really wonderful world building and characters as well. Highly recommended for readers who like unique kink, fantasy, and MM romances. Ends on a cliffy, so have that next book ready to go.

This was a pretty good read. When Prince Edward of Cassian Dynasty decides to take a mate he wants to sire heirs. The Prince has no desire for women he's gay he goes to Heritage Breeders to purchase genetically designed male he gets more than he thought. Percy is the result of a master DNA architect designing himself his own personal slave and breeder. Yet when his creator and Master dies, leaving Percy alone at the mercy of the callous stable masters and the new owner of Heritage, he fears his future. When the Prince first sees the shy quiet Patch he is taken by him. The Prince is nothing like he thought he would be he is warm and kind and falling for Percy fast. The King is not happy that Edward bought Percy and he is even more angry she he makes Percy his consort. This was a really hot book the sex scenes were good. This was my first time reading this author the book did have a few errors in grammar. This was book one in this series and I have already downloaded the next book and I am looking forward to reading it.

So...I'm a huge sucker for mpreg and any sort of...unusual...but still hot sex haha and this was just excellent! It's set in a world that is similar to ours as far as technology, cars, and so on, but there are different cities and royalty. This was all sorts of hotness, sweetness, with this sort of reverse knotting? (No clue what else to call it haha) and building intrigue as far as why the king was acting the way he was, and also why Percy's owner acted the way he did. I loved Edward and Percy together, I just wish that Percy wouldn't cry so much and will continue to gain his backbone and speak up for himself in the next story. Can't wait for more!
