Richard is magically made young again, but there's a price attached to his youth.

One lifetime of experience, and suddenly magic. Richard has come to Ireland to reflect on years gone by, not to become mixed up in the affairs of the fairy folk. The handsome stranger he meets will not be denied, however. He makes Richard young again- for a price.

Albert Nothlit is an engineer who loves thinking about the science behind science fiction. He fell in love with literature ever since Where the Red Fern Grows made him cry as a ten-year-old. Growing up as a gay man, he realized that he had rarely been able to truly connect with the characters he read about in books because almost none of them were like him. He didn’t have any fictional role models to look up to. Now that he is a writer, he tries to convey the joy and pride of being different through his own books, celebrating the fact that each unique voice brings something special to the beautiful chorus that is human artistic creation.
He likes to think about what the future might be like with the help of science, but he has always been fascinated by that other, much more elusive corollary to scientific curiosity: the mystery of consciousness. He finds the fact that a mind can think about itself both marvelous and slightly terrifying. His books often explore how people (or aliens) grow as a result of facing hardship, which itself has taught him variable lessons through the tough portions of his life.
When he takes a break from writing, Albert loves to cook, despite his varying degrees of success when attempting to make good sushi rice.

This was a fairy tale. Literally. Of lost love, loneliness... and magic.

Richard (no surname) was a sixty-two year old man who took a trip with a tour group to Ireland, over a decade after his husband's death. On one stop over a hilly beach, he met a misterious good looking young man and his life course was drastically changed.

It's a pity this was such a short story. It felt as if this was part of a bigger and longer story, and we just got a glimpse of it.

I didn't get why Richard travelled to Ireland. Was that a promise made to his dead husband? Or there's more story there. The "accidental" bumping between Richard and Bryan was somewhat off too. Bryan needed Richard's help on an urgent matter in critical time. But the way he went about it, often insulting, was a tad too much for me. Of course later on I figured that was just his trait. But it's still confusing. Richard's "magical" performance was also a drastical change from his so somber character in the beginning.

That saying, this book somehow put me in a good mood. Perhaps due to its Ireland setting, or that it's something to do with fairies. A fitting spiritual experience, maybe. ;-) I wish there was more to read on Richard's adventures.

This little short was seriously adorable and I loved it. It was unique and hilarious, with little flashes of seriousness. I loved Richard with his normalness and Brian with his very not normalness.

The writing was on point and fast paced. The whole thing was just well done and very enjoyable. I laughed throughout the story with the wise assery of Brian. He was just awesome. Richard is great as the human dragged into a Fairy situation through no fault of his own.

Very light and funny read.

This is another one of those stories that turned out completely different from what I was expecting and I still got the ending I had hoped for. Richard has just been kind of drifting through life since his partner passed and while taking a trip to Ireland he encounters someone that changes his perceptions about the world and shakes him out of his comfortable yet boring existence. Brian is on a mission and decides that Richard is just what he needs to complete it...with or without prior permission. Overall I thought the story was cute and how it was resolved was clever and kind of funny, though I honestly expected a great deal of complaining from those involved that never happened. There wasn't a great deal of detail about the world Richard finds himself involved with but, since it was a short story, that wasn't really expected. The only thing I really had a problem with was that I just didn't feel the chemistry between the two MCs...maybe if they had spent a little more time together I could see it but aside from some attraction on the part of Richard, I just didn't see it. Even with that, however, I still enjoyed the story for what it was which was a quick little lighthearted read with fantasy elements I found interesting.

I was given this book free by the author for an unbiased review.

Let me start by saying what a great little book.
Well written and with lots of humor.

Richard is standing on the Giants Causeway when suddenly a man appears in front of him. This man, Brian, wants Richard's help.
Brian makes Richard young again and sets off into the forest.
It appears that his friend has been captured and is now the focus of local media. His friend is also a dragon.
The two guys manage to free the friend with some magic. Afterwards Brian asks Richard to stay with him and Richard agrees.

This book was short, too short really. I would love a full length novel to be written about these guys or maybe some more short novellas about their future relationship and their escapades.

I would definitely recommend this book.

Oh Wow! This story in so many ways, has reverted me back to my own childhood because it truly reads like a fairy tale and considering how long fairy tales have existed among humankind, I think this story has a similar charm.

In fact this story had me at the whole digital camera thing. Because even though I was very young, I remember a time when digital cameras were not the norm and when photos had to be printed and the reel had only a finite number of pictures and every photo clicked was done with great deliberation. Just something about that fact really endeared me to Richard.

Brian, well it would be very hard not to love Brian. He is the epitome of irreverent youth, who does everything before thinking and he is just such a chatterbox. I really loved his ramblings, in the way he just couldn’t stop talking. Brian’s personality brings out the best in Richard because try as we might in the beginning Richard is a sad, growly, old man who has lost something very dear and along with it has lost his interest in life as it is.

But these two come together and have an adventure of a lifetime and at the end of everything I had stars in my eyes, a smile on my lips and a longing to return to the woods.

This is the most wonderful story, I mean at no point while reading this story was I even slightly miffed with what was happening in the story. I loved Richard and Brian and would love to know more
but I also agree that the story left them at the right place.

My most often complaint against short stories is their length and content, but this one was perfect in both. Especially considering the fantasy this story depicts it doesn’t leave a lot of open ends so as to leave a reader unsatisfied and neither does the story oversimplify this magical world where nothing is as it seems.

Personally I want to recommend this book to everybody, this book gave me a sense of happiness and I believe that if a book accomplishes that then it has accomplished everything for me.

Ohh I loved this, I love fairy stories and magical stories and Shamrock lite is full of humor, magic, wisdom and whimsy. This was certainly a very warm, feel good story, that had a few sad moments as well. We learn from Richard how easy its been for him to simply stop wanting to be a part of the world around him, to slip away and be alone with things, because he is still brooding over the loss of his husband a decade before. But it is this love that also draws Brian to him, because Richard had a heart that was capable of such depth.

A lot of Brian’s energy seemed like nervous energy, and like he really did not know how to properly socially interact with out accidently being insulting at times, which actually made him really endearing. Add in that Brian was brilliant and the whole plan at the end came together so quickly, just added into the run and enjoyability of the story. This was one I could read over and over again, and would love to see if the author decides to do more with Richard and Brian. Now that we have seen how they come to be together, I think it would be awesome to see what other adventures they get up to.

Richard is sixty-two year old man on a trip in Ireland, finally just taking time for himself after the passing of his husband, George. While going about on sightseeing tour, Richard is approached by a man named Brian who compliments his youthful figure. Richard thinks he's full of crap since he's a sixty-two yo, graying, and has a potbelly. Then it gets even more crazy when Richard witnesses Brian talking to the air (or more like arguing with himself). As Richard is trying to make a break for it Brian presents a mirror showing Richard, himself forty years younger, and is roped into helping Brian.

It was a nice simple short read. I liked that Richard was given a second chance at life and love. I was a bit conflicted about how Richard was being treated by Brian since he was pretty much pushed into helping Brian. The dilemma caused by Linora was intriguing and the plan on Richard's part was inventive considering he wasn't given much time to think up anything elaborate.

Richard is a man in his 60's whose partner passed away 10 years prior. He is kind of floating through his life still grieving and not having expectations of more love to come. Brian appears younger man who asks for his help, but he is actually a magical creature. When Brian uses magic to make Richard appear to be his younger self, Richard agrees to help Brian with saving a trapped friend and the magical world. With little time to come up with a plan, what Richard does was brilliant, clever, and funny. I enjoyed reading through this.

The story was short and sweet and cute. I didn't fully grasp a connection between Richard and Brian that would lead me to believe in a forever HEA, but there was enough for me to believe in an HFN. A little more character/couple development would have been nice for me.
