In a future dystopian world, humans have evolved into an advanced race. Amaranthines have learned to harness the Earth’s energy and use it to prolong their lives, but at a cost.
In a world that has grown cold and distant, and hasn’t seen a child born in a long time, there comes a female unlike all the rest, possessing the ability to give them everything they need. This is an exceptionally brilliant piece of writing by Ariana and the story is totally absorbing and mystical. While on the streets, Hope runs into Darrok, an Eternal; she escapes from him, but from that moment on he relentlessly pursues her. In Jake, Hope finds a Father figure, but when captured by Gideon, he does his utmost to break her. During this time they share a passion which results in unbearable consequences. Hope needs help if she is to save the world from Darkness, and finds this in the arms of Ronin. Together, and with their combined powers, they finally outwit Darrok. There are various facets to this story which are totally enthralling. Hope is continually betrayed and finds it hard to trust, but unbeknown to her there are people who have been entrusted to help and assist her along her way. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
