Todd grew up on the mean streets of Atlanta but worked hard to avoid becoming a product of his environment. The temptations from the streets were strong, especially when Money Mac, his father, ran the streets with an iron fist and a deadly crew. His two childhood friends, Hakim and Chris, took the easy route and fell for the fast money while Todd stayed focused on his education. When a gorgeous woman named Beautiful steps in the picture, things get a little complicated. Friends turn to enemies and enemies turn to friends When it's all over, street debts will be paid but the streets don't want cash…they want your life.
Growing up on the streets of Atlanta is never easy, but trying to stay out those streets to avoid becoming a product of your enviornment is an even harder task especially for someone like Todd, whose father is the main man in the streets. Even though the streets all calling loudly in his ear, especially with a temper that he has and the people that he knows who run the street, Todd's main focus is to go to college and finish school so that he can open up his own club. Though his father is n charge of the streets he still wants his son to be able to have his own respect in the streets especially because of who he is. Even with his two best friends in the street out for the fast money Todd still remains focused. Everything seems to be going good, his past actions are in his past until he meets a young woman who brings trouble with her. Todd knows that he needs to get his respect by any means possible and fighting in the street aint the same unless you have a gun. Listening to his fathers teachings Todd is determined to make sure everyone knows his name and to respect him. When everything is said and done will Todd get the respect hes after or will this game be too much for him to handle?
Im not sure what I thought before i started this story, but after getting into it it was pretty good. I enjoyed how it was different in terms of the whole school boy idea. Even though as you read the story he sort of detours from his orginal plan he makes sure he goes back to his plan. I thought the beginning was a tad bit slow but once things started happening the drama and things it made it easier to get into. I liked Todd for the most part. Overall, I enjoyed the story the ending really shocked me and I cant wait to see what is going to happen next because the end left me hanging.
Please tell me there's another part to this story because Todd can't go out like that I can't believe how this book draws you in I was on tge edge of my seat I will be reading more books from this author
“School Boy” by Katavious Ellis brings readers into the world of Todd. He is known in the streets because all of his friends as well as his father are street runners. His dad, Money Mac, is a pimp. He keeps Todd laced with money and the finer things in life. He has always managed to stay under the radar of the Feds because of his street motto: No murder no witness. In college Todd met Beautiful, who has an abusive boyfriend, M.T. Todd would try and mend her broken heart. After M.T. ends up murdered, the streets start talking, wondering if Todd had anything to do with it.
“School Boy” has a very entertaining storyline. The book does a great job of drawing readers into the story from the beginning and doesn’t let up. I liked the book because it’s not just another street book; it does a great job of providing a good storyline so that it’s not all about violence. With just enough drama to keep you interested and leaving you wanting more, I recommend it.
I found myself stuck in Todd's story as Katavious Ellis painted the picture of how a person with the right intentions can let life's situations lead them down a complete different path. Although Todd's dad told him to keep education first, when faced with the need to survive, the streets and the other things his father taught him replaced the books. Be ready for a few surprises because Katavious is definitely giving 'em to you. Katavious Ellis has come out swinging with his debut novel. ~BOSS LADI
