From the USA Today bestselling author of the TREX romantic suspense series...
He's never met a system he couldn't hack or a situation he couldn't charm his way out of. Until he met her.
It's twenty years later - Kane Dennon, son of Kade Dennon and Kathleen Turner, is now twenty-six and following in his father's footsteps in every sense of the word. He's estranged from his family and living in Seattle, has more regrets than friends, and doesn't expect to live to see twenty-seven. His latest job isn't exactly going as planned, thanks to a sexy, yet nosy neighbor catching him piggybacking on her Wi-Fi and interrupting him before he can finish the hack. Just as he leaves to confront her, shots erupt, shredding his apartment. Kane races next door, expecting to find his neighbor curled into a ball, screaming as bullets whistle by. Instead he finds her shooting back.
If it weren't for bad luck, she'd have no luck at all. That's CSI tech Eleanor Rigby's motto. Make that ex-CSI tech. After being fired for stealing evidence from a crime scene, she can't get another job to save her life. If she doesn't find some way to make money, she can add homeless to the list. Leave it to her to have the proverbial tall, dark, and gorgeous man living next door--and he turns out to be a criminal. When she's literally caught in the crossfire, she ends up on the run with him, dodging more bullets while doing everything in her power not to fall for his charm.
Everything about Ellie draws Kane in--from her fiery red hair to her amazing eye for detail. He could use her specific set of skills to figure out what his latest employer is up to and has her help track the evidence. When they discover the hack is part of a much bigger plan, one that involves them both, they must find a way to stop it before it's too late.
Sometimes life isn't about the choices we make, but how we handle the consequences.
This story can be enjoyed without prior knowledge of the "Kathleen Turner" world created by Tiffany Snow. However, it's best served with a heart-racing helping of the other stories in the series on sale now.
I was a beta reader for this book. Its take place in western Washington. Kane wants to be like his dad before he married his mom. Eleanor lost her job. They are neighbors but they don't know each other before the shooting starts. Eleanor come out of her shell as she shooting at the bad guys. Hiding out from the bad guys Kane father show up to save them.
Computer hacker Kane Dennon is following in his father's footsteps, a fact his father is quite angry about. When his current client has him retrieving the blueprints to a warehouse, before he's able to achieve this feet Kane is nearly killed in a shoot out. Along with his sexy redheaded neighbor Eleanor "Ellie" Rigby, whose been sucked into this nightmare, Kane fleas for his life. Ellie, an ex-CSI tech for SPD, having been setup for misplacing critical evidence in a murder investigation. She's promptly fired.
Is it a coincidence the couple are in the same place at the same time as the bad guys trying to kill them both?.....you'll have to read this totally fast paced read to find out!
With Kane & Ellie constantly at odds with each other, despite their growing sexual attraction, they unravel the mystery behind their connection. I loved these characters, the feisty ginger and the sexy hacker. What a fun wild journey they took me on. Allie K. Adams spins a wonderful tale!
I am not familiar with Kathleen Turner series but after reading this story by Allie, I want to be!
This was a fast paced, fun, sexy read. The chemistry was off the charts and the witty banter really made this story for me. The plot at first seemed very simple and I was a bit shocked, then it was revealed and i was shocked! What we knew was just the tip of the iceberg! The storyline flowed fast but was not overwhelming, I am really hoping Allie writes another book in this series. I would love to get her take on it again and again. lol.
Allie did a great job continuing the Kathleen Turner series. Her writing is close to Tiffany Snow's style and she did a good job tying the present together visiting past events. I loved that Kade and Kathleen make appearances in this novella.
It was a good read and I enjoyed catching up with the family. I wished it was longer but that is because this was one of the best series I have read and I just didn’t want it to end. I really enjoyed the book a great ending
I thought the author did a pretty good job of keeping the feeling of this story similar to the original series. I liked seeing Kade older and interacting with his son. Ellie was funny and a good fit for Kane. Though it was a novella, it read like a full length story and didn't rush things. Kathleen didn't really read true to character for me. I'd like to give an exact reason why, but she just felt off, maybe a bit too sweet and coddling. In any case, that's very subjective, so maybe it's just me. In any case, it was a nice story.
