Amy Malone thinks she and Shane are safe living in a desolate area of New Mexico, but after she encounters a mysterious sorcerer she’s plunged into a demon-ridden nightmare even worse than what she faced in Blackwood. Pursued through moonlit wilderness by grotesque grimsnuffers and hunted by hideous jabber-suckers that suck out their victims’ flesh through pulsating tentacles, Amy must survive a deadly maze to confront the most fearsome monster of hell: a demon so deadly it can kill with just a look.
Mixing horror with dark fantasy, Demon Mania is a wild whirlwind of sword and sorcery, witches, warlocks, black magic, telekinesis, spirit-travel, deadly assassins, eerie prophecies, breathless action, and demons—lots of demons.
Harvey Click earned an M.A. in English from Ohio State University, using his first novel as a master's thesis. He has written six other novels, four of them in the horror genre, and two collections of short horror stories. He has taught both English and creative writing for Ohio University, Ohio State University, the James Thurber House, and OSU's Creative Arts Program.
"The idea behind this series is fantastic. Mr Click certainly has the imagination to make it work much better than it currently does. It just needs to be expanded on bit more with more focus on the demons and the evil side of things. That being said, this is still a fun read."
Harvey Click is a very skilled author who knows how to draw the reader in from the very first page. This is not my first book from this author and most definitely won't be the last because his books are so good that I keep looking for more books from him.
Demon Mania is the sequel to Demon Frenzy but the beauty of both books, you don't have to read one to understand the other. Both are independent and stand on their own. If this is your kind of book though, I would start with the first one.
In this second book there are some sad losses. I hated seeing some of the characters die and was cheering when others didn't make it. The plot in this book is captivating and really grabs you at the first page. You find yourself in a well written plot, that follows a great pace and has some beautiful twists hidden within that I didn't see coming, and I am usually pretty good in guessing those.
In this book Amy, who was also in the first one, is again forced to deal with the paranormal, and it hits home even more than the first one. Thankfully she has some good old friends and new to help her through this nightmare. I find that the main characters continue to grow in this book and you learn more about especially Amy and Shane.
As I stated before, Harvey Click is one of my favorite authors after just reading a few of his books. If you like the paranormal with lots of action and yes quite a lot of gore, you should pick up his books.
I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)
Supernatural is not a genre I delve into often, but once in awhile there will be that one blurb on a book that will catch my interest.
Demon Mania did just that.
Before I continue my review I would like to state that I did not read the first book, so my review is based on this book alone.
Demon Mania had all the components of a novel I would find engaging. It was well written. The characters were realistic and the plot was flawless. So why the four star rating?
Because of the beginning, it was not something I cared for and it sat with me throughout the whole book
The book starts with a man hitching a ride we are not sure where his destination will take him, but as the story continues we learn that the man, Bruce is headed to his mothers house.
I don't want to give away much but I can say this, I was mortified by the events that followed and the way Bruce treated his mother. This is of course, is my own opinion and in no way do I want to sway anyone away from the book because it is well crafted and a good read.
This sequel has even more terrifying and highly original demons than the first book. Like Demon Frenzy, it moves at a quick pace and you care about the characters -- you admire them, fear for them and find them completely believable.
Harvey Click has done it again. I could not put this book down. This second addition to the Demon series moves just as fast as the first one. I love the characters and the story line. I felt drawn to finish this book. This is definitely a series I want to continue reading.
