I literally love every other book by Roxie Ray, I recommend everyone read all of her books! But this one felt so AI written with the dialogue it was barely readable.

‘My Emergency Contact is a Wolf Shifter’ by Roxie Ray

Wow!! What a book!! Heartwarming 💕 emotional and roughly enjoyable!! 😊

The MMC & FMC were perfect and descriptive in there emotions and thoughts!! 🤍

The other characters: ‘Markie’ 🦜& ‘Bobbi’ 👧 were essential and made the book!! … Their comments were honestly and the suggestive commentary were bob on and hit at all the right spots!! 🖤

I thought enjoyed 🥰 this book and recommend everyone to read it! … I laughed 🤣 and teared 😢 up several times! … The connection I felt to their emotions and thoughts was just on point!! - A must read!! 🤍

Once I opened this, I didn’t want to stop reading. I found Liam and Zoey entirely relatable and I thoroughly enjoyed their story.
I was celebrating every win and worrying with every stumble. Just, all the feels with this one. I loved it, another great read.

I’ve read a few of the authors other books, and they’re pretty reliable. Short, easy reads. A bit cozy. Usually funny with some spice, and this one is the same. MMC definitely would’ve been completely forgiven right away and excuses would’ve been made for him in other similar books, so it was nice to see him accept the need to change.

Knocked it out of the park

Just like 'Accurate by Accident' (which i also love), this book has neurodivergent characters. This book deals with that in a more quiet way, but also in more depth. The characters are attractive and appealing. Is like to meet them in real life.

This book is not romantasy or paranormal or even a shifter book. She could have taken the little parts about Liam being a shifter out and it wouldn't have changed the story at all. It is a cozy romance with each of them having personal issues and needing therapy.

This book was not what I expected, but it turned out to be better. Rather than a paranormal romance, it was a cozy romance that just happened to include a shifter. The fact that Liam is a shifter wolf really didn't have much to do with the story, except to add context to his past.

At one point, I was disappointed that there wasn't much suspense, no external threat to add to the drama. There was no "bad guy" to battle against, no race against time to complete some sort of task, not even much of a drastic misunderstanding that had to be worked out...but it occurred to me that this was the most realistic romance I've read in a while. The only threat to their happily ever after was their own emotional baggage.

The most unrealistic part is that they are both so committed to learning to cope better with their past trauma. They are both aware of their own issues and the other person's, and they both want to be better for themselves and each other. Therapy is discussed openly and positively. The dialogue took a little getting used to as they both had somewhat stiff vocabularies, but it made them more real in the situation. The side characters round out the fun heartwarming story: Markie the foul-mouthed parrot, Bobbi the neighbor girl with no filter, the grumpy neighbor, the Survivors Group Chat...all together, they form a found family that makes up for the lack of biological families.

He was only supposed to be a never-seen-again name as an Emergency Contact for a vacation injury. So why did this hunk of a wolf shifter show up for Zoey in the real-life, real-time, real-world hospital a few days later after she takes another tumble? Because he's still her emergency contact, that's why.

Zoey is a fixer, created by necessity before even becoming a teen, having to make sure the lights stayed on and the fridge had food in it.

Now she needs to figure out how to sit back and let someone take care of her for a change.

This book is about:
🦜 An independent woman learning to let others help her
🦜 A parrot with a foul mouth, strong opinions, and a knack for calling 911
🦜 A wolf shifter who respects boundaries, but still gets himself in trouble
🦜 An eleven year old with no filter and good advice
🦜 Found family
🦜 Slow burn, standalone romance
🦜 Lots of laughs

I love Roxie Ray's work: the characters, the dialogs, the stories themselves. They are not cookie-cutter books, all the same just with name changes. I will definitely read this book again. Opinions here are my own. I received nothing for my review other than the ARC e-book & the joy reading it. 🧡

My Emergency Contact is a Wolf Shifter by Roxie Ray is about Zoey, who ends up putting down her one night stand Liam as her emergency contact after hurting herself when they met thinking it was only for that incident. Later when she hits her head, Liam is called as her emergency contact on record, and ends up sticking around to help her in spite of her fierce independence and they awkwardly develop a relationship.

Zoey works remotely in help desk support, which is very close to what I do, so I related a lot to her work situation. The fact that Markie, Zoey's parrot, speaks in computer support lingo and cuss words was my favorite part of the book. Markie's commentary, especially about Liam, made for some very hilarious moments in the book.

The end of the story felt a little abrupt for me and I would have loved to see more development in the epilogue to wrap things up. Overall I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it for a fun paranormal romantic comedy.

This book was such a fun read. I loved the main character, Zoey, and Liam, and the extras, Bobbi and Markie. Liam and Zoey both had emotional baggage and past issues. I liked how they both started working on their problems so they could have a healthy relationship. Liam was so great at giving Zoey her space and accepting her boundaries. Zoey loved to mess with Liam’s needing to be just a certain way. The little girl, Bobbi, was a hoot, not afraid of anything, and said exactly what was on her mind. Markie was so funny for a parrot. Markie gave his opinions whether you wanted to hear them or not. I loved how by the end of the story, he had bonded with Liam. I have just started reading Roxie Ray’s books and have not been disappointed. Now off to the next one, which I can’t decide if I want to read Swipe Right on Fate or the Cuddle Clause. Both sound so cute. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love this author and have read most of her other books. Her books are usually nice, cozy, easy reads with a bit of humour and always a HEA.
In saying that I felt this book was a little flat when it came to the main characters and although it’s great to see her showing neurodivergent characters I feel she lost her usual flare in this book as I felt the characters were written with only the neurodivergence’s in mind and nothing else.
Although I didn’t connect with the MC’s like I normally would when reading her books I still found it a good read. It just wasn’t a book that I felt I couldn’t put down and had to read in one sitting.
In saying all that I think Markie should have his own book, we all need a Markie in our lives.

Meh. Not my favorite of Roxie’s books. It’s a bit flat and slow moving. There isn’t a secondary storyline, so it’s just Zoey and Liam circling each other. They have so much emotional damage it’s hard for them to function. The premise was cute. She twists her ankle and puts him down as an emergency contact. He takes care of her and they have a one night stand. She goes home & gets hurt again. They call him and he takes care of her again. She has a snarky personality and he’s quiet, so there isn’t typical sexy banter. Despite being reserved, Liam is a dream boyfriend. I think this book might appeal to people that can identify with the characters. It just didn’t have the passion I like in books. The highlights are definitely Zoey’s talkative bird and her 11 yoa neighbor.

I enjoyed this book. The characters were almost all a bit (or more than a bit) neurotypical in one way or another. I liked how they were able to work their differences and disagreements out to get to the HEA at the end. There were a couple of open door sexy scenes, but nothing super spicy—just enough to give some weight to the rest of the relationship. The neighbor kid, Bobbi, was cute and her lack of filters or boundaries was humorous, and Markie, Zoey’s parrot, was pretty hilarious, especially how he interacted with Pete the werewolf. I enjoyed Zoey’s inner strength and Pete’s protective nature. Overall, a fun read that left me with a smile on my face.

This book was such a fun read! I picked it up because the title made me laugh, and it definitely didn't disappoint. My Emergency Contact Is a Wolf Shifter had the perfect mix of romance, humor, and paranormal goodness.

I really liked both main characters and found myself invested in their relationship pretty quickly. Their chemistry felt natural, and I loved all the teasing, awkward moments, and sweet interactions between them. The hero was protective and charming, while the heroine was relatable and easy to cheer for.

The story moved at a good pace, and I never got bored. There was enough drama and tension to keep things interesting, but it never felt overwhelming. I also enjoyed the shifter-world elements and the supporting characters, who added a lot of personality to the story.

Overall, this was a cute, entertaining paranormal romance that left me smiling. If you enjoy wolf shifters, romance with a touch of humor, and characters you can easily fall in love with, and maybe even parrots who swear, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try!

Liam and Zoey

Oh my lord! I must have looked like a lunatic laughing in public.
Markie is a thing!!!
The opening chapters - the drunk celebrations… I don’t think I’ve ever had as much fun reading a book as I have for a while.

And then, it turns, and starts to become more introspective and emotional at times. Liam learns to let someone in, while Zoey learns to set boundaries. Definitely a hard won happy ending, and well worth the read.

Ohh man, like always, Roxie hits it out of the park. I loved the sarcasm and the banter. Zoey is a complex character with a history of trauma. She uses sarcasm as a shield. That is something I think everyone has seen or used. Liam is such a golden retriever vibe, but so sweet. I did cry when Zoey told Liam not to call her. I understood why, but I know he was crushed. He answers Zoey's sarcasm with his dry wit. They are a perfect fit. I loved this book, I laughed out loud until I cried.

I really enjoyed reading 'My Emergency Contact is a Shifter Wolf' by Roxy Ray. It was funny, cute, and interesting to see two people very attracted to each other but recognizing that they have to work on their relationship issues before they can totally give their whole selves to the other. He is too protective and she has trouble believing that someone can truly love her without wanting something from her.

This was a very cute story, and I loved it.

The chemistry between Liam and Zoey was perfect. It was a genuine romantic story that had me rooting for both of them. The characters (and their struggles) are relatable, and they made me realize things about myself.

The secondary characters provide an extra layer of uniqueness, and I hope they get their own books.

I’ve been reading a lot of Roxie’s books, and like her others, this one didn’t disappoint.

Zoey is used to be the one people call on, her mother had her on fast dial. Meeting Liam an alpha wolf, a man who knows how to listen and cares. Not wanting to be like his own father. One trip, one sprained ankle and a fall brings these two in close contact.
I loved Liam’s gentleness and his honest heart. Watching them come to terms with what is happening to them. Great characters who I fell for. Humour, banter, romance and drama.
Ohh a parrot called Markie, who could teach a sailor how to swear.

Like Roxie Ray’s other standalone paranormal books, this one is also a very relaxed read while bringing out the emotions and a little chaos. Instead of having a plot line with misunderstandings caused by others for creating unnecessary drama in the relationship of the FMC and MMC, the book focuses on personal growth and development of both the protagonists.

I am not someone who usually enjoys stand alone books. This book was an impulse read that I am so glad I picked up! Two characters identifying flaws in themselves and working on them without trying to fix each other is refreshing and so healthy. Honestly, as an eldest daughter on my own therapy journey, this book hit way deeper than I thought it would when I picked up a "cute shifter romance".

Highly recommend.

This is about Zoey and Liam. I like that Zoey is learning how to create boundaries, that Liam tries very hard to respect everyone’s choices, even a bird, and that they find peace and safety in each other. I also enjoyed that Bobbi helped them move past the narrative that’s controlled their relationships with others for a long time.

The perfect summer read! Markie had me laughing so hard I was crying! I absolutely loved Liam and Zoey and really found them to be so relatable. I also really enjoyed all the side characters and how they cared about Zoey and Liam. There were so many cute, funny and swoon-worthy moments! I have loved all of Roxie’s books and I think this one is definitely one of my favorites!

At first, it seemed this story was the usual meeting of different types of people and how they would have to change to be together. But, it so much more. The importance of feelings and observations of friends and found family's. I think anyone reading this book will see some way to improve themselves.

Fun story

A little sex, a lot of love! Speaking of which I LOVED the bird! Markel was hilarious and it was touching how much enjoyed the new people in his life. The hero of the story came across a bit weak. I did love his patience and calmness but he wasn’t strong enough so I gave the story a 4.

I like these standalone romance books, a bit of an easy read, this is two emotionally zipped people who are pretty repressed and desperately trying not to be, who come together and get their happy forever after. The parrot is funny, the kid is fun, another child with the same kind of problems they face and despite setbacks, make it work they do.

I enjoyed this new book by Roxie Ray. It did take a little bit for me to get into the book, but it was good anyway. The storyline was interesting, and the characters were funny with their banter.
Good read.
