The betrayal in this book BURNS! If you love to read betrayal, I think this one will definitely give you that. Definitely 5 stars for the betrayal. The ending and redemption- 0 stars.

I have never wanted to beat a fictional man more than this MMC. I wanted a crowbar to meet the hero’s face for 3 minutes.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author. The betrayals are good; the issue is the redemptions. There needs to be an equal balance for it to work.

(Possible spoilers ahead)

So the MMC was supposed to marry Camille in an arranged marriage. Camille was the beautiful, social, blonde-haired beauty. Camille ran off and married another guy. The hero was “stuck” marrying Noelle, Camille’s plain sister.

For 3 years, the hero and Noelle have been married. Noelle is the perfect wife. She loves the hero, but she knows he still loves her sister. 🥴 Let me tell you, THE HERO DOES STILL LOVE CAMILLE. It’s all he thinks about. His POV was complete dog 💩. I think I was 25% in and had to double-check if he was actually the hero. He is. 🫣

Just a preview of the hero’s POV about his wife
—————
“Noelle. She was a substitution. I'd never said that out loud,”

“Noelle was—fine. She was fine. Pretty in a quiet way, not the way Camille was pretty,”

“The problem wasn't that Noelle was lacking. The problem was that she was standing in a space shaped like someone else, just like I was, and the fit was wrong, and we both knew it, and neither of us had said it in three years”
——————-

The hero loves to tell us in his POV that he’s not a cheater. But his POV also told us how much he wished Noelle would be the one to end their marriage (he couldn’t do it because he didn’t want to be like his hobag dad). He’s always texting with Camille. He’s always her shoulder to lean on. He’s always supporting her when her husband is not.
But he’s not cheating.

Then in EVERY. SINGLE. INTERACTION with Camille, he would cheat. He even had a 3-second rule for touching her. 🙇‍♀️ He thought longer than 3 seconds shows everybody he’s cheating. Wow. He yearned to touch her. (I’m talking YEARNED as Rhysand yearned for Feyre 😜)

The hero found out Camille’s husband ran up a gambling debt. Camille cried, and the hero paid off the husband’s debt. Well, the husband wasn’t happy, and he unloaded at the hero at a family party. I did not blame the husband at all. He also ended his marriage with Camille and was like, “You can have her” to the hero. Poor Noelle just stood there like a cardboard cutout while her husband petted on Camille.

Look 👀 the hero, and Noelle didn’t even have a good smex life. Every couple of months the hero would just quickly fuxk Noelle, then he’d roll back over and go to sleep. No pleasure or enjoyment. (I don’t think the book ever told us if the hero ever had smex with Camille. I’m going to assume he did before she married another guy 🤷‍♀️)

So during this book, we will have a couple of parties and a few family dinners. At each one, the hero will always choose Camille over his wife. Literally everybody in their life was always telling him he was a POS for what he was doing to his wife. He just did not care. (There is a whole laundry list of things the hero did, thought, or said that were just icky. There’s no way I could list all his bad deeds) This hero was literally obsessed with Camille.

The hero and Camille were both openly flaunting their emotional affair. I’d even go a step farther and say it was physical, too. There were a couple of moments the hero hugged her and had his hands in her hair. Forehead kisses and tender affection. Sexy dances basically grinding on each other.

Noelle is worse than a doormat. I’d call her a robot. She just constantly “takes it” and doesn’t say anything. Ironically, the hero’s sister and mom are her biggest supporters, and they always kindly nudge her to stand up for herself.

The final event happens. The hero’s sister had another engagement party, and she did NOT invite Camille. Nobody wanted Camille there. 🤪 Well, the hero invited her because he was mad and thought Noelle was just jealous and didn’t invite her. Camille shows up and starts running her nasty mouth about Noelle. The hero comforts Camille in front of everyone and leaves his poor wife humiliated….again. He ends up staying the night at Camille’s house. He accidentally fell asleep on her sofa. Rightttt.

Noelle FINALLY breaks down. It was sad, but I was so annoyed with her character by this point.

It’s not until around 65% that the hero will start to realize maybe his wife is not so bad after all.
By this time, Noelle finally leaves him. Ugh, she leaves all the expensive stuff. 🤦‍♀️

Around this time, Camille shows the hero her cRaZy. He starts to realize he no longer has the perfect wife doing everything for him. 🎻🎻 It must be tragic to wake up and realize your unpaid housekeeper is no longer around to wipe your arse and cook your food. I guess he also realizes Camille would NEVER do those things for him.

Now it’s time for the grovel, and there is only like 20% left. 😂
Noelle’s awful dad had a heart attack. Honestly, Noelle is a freaking saint because I would’ve left him where he lay and let the state put his mean arse in a nursing home. 🤷‍♀️ Or have his sweet girl, Camille, take care of him.

All the hero did was stay by Noelle’s side and support her during this. He bought her coffee. And food. Ya know? The bare minimum.
Ohhhh yeah, he also bought her some fancy pencil for her sketches.

The pencil won her ❤️ back. I must have said WTF at least 15 times.

He’s a changed man now because they have smex. He actually gives her pleasurable oral for the first time and gives her good smex. 🤡🤡☠️

The only acceptable ending is that Noelle goes back to the hero and she slowly poisons him every day until he ☠️ and pins the evidence on her sister.

Eek, the ending put me in a foul mood.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Riley King traded a corporate career for writing marriage-in-crisis and second-chance romance where the men have to earn their redemption. No shortcuts, no cheap apologies. She lives in the Midwest with her husband, who has never once had to grovel this hard, and two very mischievous cats, who have nonetheless never groveled in their lives.

ummm does Riley King know that none of her mmcs do anything? 😂😂
her books do in fact ONLY contain shortcuts, and cheap apologies ( except i don't think he even apologized for all the cheating and mistreatement).

The Hero in this story was quite the dick. He was to marry a woman he was really enthralled with, but she up and ran off with another man. So the Hero got saddled with the sister. You know, the sweet, dedicated sister, who isn't quite as sexy and hot as the skanky sister who ran off instead of marrying the Hero she was supposed to. The story is rolled out through the eyes of the heroine. She takes care of her husband in a very dedicated manner. She plans and plans and then plans some more. She kind of came off as autistic with her focus to detail. She also came off as wooden and emotionless too. That kind of dampened the story a bit. I think I would have been totally in love if I could have truly felt her heartbreak and devastation through the story. Anyhow, I digress.

The Hero and Heroine are married for years, but the Hero still pines for the sister who got away. Whenever she'd show up, his eyes were glued to her. So were his hands. He totally believes he's loved the evil skank sister for all of these years, and he barely give his own wife any acknowledgement or attention. And then evil sis comes back, and she's getting ready to shuck her shitty husband she had run off with in the beginning of the story. Evil sis has her eyes on the original Hero and she wants to take him away from her plain and boring sister. The evil sister in this story added a lot with her nastiness, manipulations and drama. I devoured it.

Finally the sweet heroine, has enough of her shitty husband pining for her sister, as well as the evil sister salivating to take her husband away from her. She decides neither of them are with the fight, and she walks away from her marriage. Her Hero FINALLY realizes that the sister he's been salivating for, is actually a shitty and selfish person in reality and he's made a huge mistake wanting her so desperately all of these years. He decides to work to get his wife back before the divorce is finalized.

I enjoyed this story. I would have enjoyed it a hell of a lot more if the heroine had some personality and emotions to her though. I could almost understand why the Hero never really acknowledged her or thought she was worth him. She was cold, wooden, standoffish, and had zero personality. That being said, the drama was nice in this story. The evil attention-whorish sister manipulating everyone around her into believing she was sweet and innocent, and getting the masses pissed off at her sister was fun. The Hero believing the skank sister over his own wife, resulting in him tearing his wife down and chewing her ass out, was fun too. I enjoyed the hubby finally getting over himself and going after his wife as well.

Good stuff!

Judge me😁 I deserve it. I feel like a just guzzled 2 pints of rocky road ice cream.

This story got the betrayal / grovel ratio just right!!
70 % betrayal
30% redemption.

It hit the spot but was a little too long and technical in terms of event planning.

He’s a horrible human being…

This story hinges on the fact that the ML was going to marry one daughter, who ran off to marry someone else, and the second daughter, the FL, was basically substituted as a replacement. There is no love on his side but the FL has feelings.

The other sister is a total bully and biotch. A major standout is when the FL tried on a dress for a party that was beautiful on her, but sister showed up to bully her out of purchasing the dress. Then at the party, guess who bought the dress instead? The sister was definitely well written because I absolutely hated her! Horrible, horrible woman.

Plus sister is a wannabe now that her choice of husband didn’t work so well. And the ML is TSTL and backs her every time something happens. She’s after him and he goes right along with it, definitely humiliating the wife. He’s a horrible, horrible man and a terrible husband.

FL finally leaves him after his most blatant disrespect and betrayal, although there’s no physical cheating involved. He just thinks he loves the sister and has been pining all this time.

KU and if I didn’t hate the husband so much, this could have been 5 stars. But because I dislike him so much, I didn’t think he redeemed himself… so one star off. Great story otherwise.

Grant and Noelle

It took quite part of the book for Grant to finally realise what was going on more than half the book wich i thought was a lot as after that is tge discovery face and them tge grovelling face wich it wasn't long enough for his grovelling to actually be believable. In my humble opinion.

Ok, going to be straight and say I liked the neglected wife book by this author a bit better simply because the MCs in that book seemed to have more of relationship as oppose to the roommate type relationship/situation these MCs existed in. Now, that I read another book by this author i can definitely see a formula being used but that formula works on me, so Im not mad at it. 3.5 stars (Im totally gonna read more books by this author).

It was ok

Spoilers

He emotional cheated for years, he humiliated her all the time. He even pays off her husband's debt, he did more for her than his wife.

She was really a doormat, sad and had no self respect. She should of left her dad in a nursing home, he doesnt love her, he uses her.

But if course you had to make him sick so she have to take care of dad and she have to move in. He didn't do anything except buy her pencils.

Didn't like either of them

Quite good. Needs a better title.

Hated the ending. Noelle deserved better. Her father and sister never change. Never get their dues.

was torn about this one

Not going to lie but no sure if he was redeemable. Seriously he was in love with another woman (her sister) the whole time she was a doormat, I would have left after the first engagement party.

he could say he didn’t cheat all he wants but he had an emotional affair with her sister for their whole marriage and it was just cringey. He didn’t love her at all or even basic caring for her like at all.

I would not have been able to forgive him.
Was hoping she found someone else to make her happy and him to rot with the sister he chose. That would have been karma.

And how did it go from his sister being married to Lucien but then it was just an engagement. Bad editing.

Humiliated by Her Billionaire Husband, part of The Unseen Wives series, was about 28-year-old Noelle Marchand Cavelli, a landscape architect, and 31-year-old Grant Calvelli, the CEO of the Cavelli empire.

Noelle and Grant had been in an arranged marriage for three years. She hadn't been his first choice. In fact, Grant had actually been engaged to marry Noelle's older sister, Camille Marchand, who had chosen to marry another man named Lucien Fontaine instead. Noelle had been a substitution that he never wanted. For the entirety of their marriage, he had constantly compared her actions to those of her sister, letting her know who he preferred. So when it was made clear in front of all their friends and family during a dinner party that, even after three years of marriage, he would still choose Camille, Noelle walked away. When Camille showed Grant her true colors, his world as he had known it fell apart, and he quickly realized his mistake...three years too late.

Side Note: At least Grant's mother and sister were supportive of Noelle. They weren't petty, catty, or great fans of Camille's. They defended Noelle when her father talked down to her. I also want it known that, while Grant didn't cheat physically on Noelle, he did verbally every time he voiced his comparisons to her for three consecutive years. He cheated financially He cheated emotionally, not WITH Camille, but internally in his mind. Yes, that's still cheating. He lusted after her for the entirety of his marriage, and only quit when the mask slipped off Camille's face and she revealed to him who she truly was. It was still a betrayal.

This was a very well-written story, with plenty of angst, drama, and an emotional rollercoaster that had plenty of twists and turns. The conflict was steady, the flow of the storyline unbroken, and the push/pull between the two main characters was just as it should be.

Both main characters were fully developed and mature, with plenty of room for growth. The secondary characters were just as good, and I loved the fact that his family adored the FMC. I gave this a three-and-a-half star rating, rounded up to four.

This author knows how to string you along emotionally all the way to the end. This one was different in the way the hero was portrayed. He was aloof, indifferent, resentful for having married the second daughter in an arranged marriage because his fiancé flew the coop, yet he held onto his obsession with her. And did it knowingly, belligerently hoping his wife that he consistently ignored would get the message and end the marriage so he wouldn't have to because it was beneath him and he was a coward. Not only that but he inserted his ex-fiancé's name and her "higher standards" in front of his wife all the time. He went to his ex to soothe her, agree with her and hold her not realizing what his public display was doing. He was oblivious to what his actions were portraying. So he came off as really dense. And he was. The heroine was what you love in heroines. She was dignified, quiet, responsible, kind and never blamed anyone for all the hurt that was placed upon her. It was riveting to me. And the end HEA flowed with how the characters were represented. Not overly grovelly, just simply changed.

Three stars for the angst that is really high.
This is an arranged marriage where the heroine feels betrayed married the heroine when her sister, who he loved, dumped him and left with another man, so for the business of both families, the heroine was sacrificed.
They have a cold and polite marriage, but when he’s sister comes back the hero acts like a simp.
He is always around the ex, and his thoughts tell us that he loves her, and he cares for her a lot, and when the ex starts making scenes he always protects her, even when they are in public.
So the poor heroine feels neglected and of course humiliated because everyone knows he’s in love with he’s sister and they all thinks he also has an affair with her, included the sisters fiance.
After a very bad scene the heroine decides to leave.
The hero realizes he didn’t love the sister but was only acting out of habit, and that he loves the heroine instead.
And he tries too win her back.
It takes some time. In the end all is well but the hero is a sob.
Great angst, emotional affair. He never touched ow, because he doesn’t cheat… physically.

So glad I didn't read this book first because I doubt I would have read any other stories in this series. The writing was good in them, so it is shocking how bad this one is. This is OTT bad soap opera.

I got fed up with Saint Noelle and her martyr behavior. She's a complete blank in terms of character. I skimmed through it as fast as I could just to see if Noelle EVER has had enough and leaves. Don't care about the plot or any of the characters. Thank goodness a 3rd engagement party wasn't planned.

All Grant seems to do, besides pine after Camille, is look at quarterly P&L statements on his monitors. He's also a blank character who wanted to marry Camille, but she chose his brother, so he 'had' to marry her sister, Noelle. Some arranged marriage thing for business purposes.

All the men in this series get a sudden 'come to Jesus' moment when their wives leave them (takes them long enough). Then they all have to change to win back their wives.

Emotional cheating romance

Grant and Noelle have a contract marriage after Noelle’s sister, Camille, threw Grant aside for another man. To keep the political connection, Grant and Noelle marry, but basically in name only. Grant is there but dismissive and still in love with Camille. He sees but ignores the things that Noelle tries to do to create a happy marriage. Camille is her husband’s and father’s favorite and Noelle struggles living under Camille’s shadow. After Noelle is tired of being ignored, rejected, and humiliated by her husband and sister, especially at 2 very public parties, she has had enough and leaves Grant. Of course, Grant realizes his mistakes too late.

At first, Noelle seems to be a doormat, a caring person, trying to make her marriage work. But as the story develops, Noelle’s inner strength moves her forward to a better, happier life, maybe without Grant. She was a pleasure to read. Another KU book I’m buying.

UGH - I was really unsure how to rate this. I read it and finished it. I did end up skimming the last 20% because it was a little meh.

Pros - this story had some good angst to start and that's what I was looking for at the time so it definitely hit that mark.

Cons - This story is AI written and/or heavily assisted by AI writing. There were too many markers and things that just didn't make sense. At one point she is talking about the family dinner they are having and says her father "arrived at seven-fifteen, he was fourteen minutes late" - what?! The dinner start time was 7:01? That makes no sense. The other marker was those really profound sounding statements but once you actually try to think about it they don't really make sense.

I also found the redemption to be a little lackluster. He was constantly thinking about Camille and was clearly in love with her until suddenly he isn't. Made it hard to believe he actually loved her versus him just realizing Camille sucked.

Terrible Sister

Camille is an awful sister. That's the first thing to note. She is what the Wattpad stories call a green tea bish. No doubt about that. It's all about mememememe and no one else matters. Especially not her sister Noelle.

Camille was supposed to marry Grant. An arrangement between their two families. Instead she ran away with a drunkard (also a gambler and a cheater, mind you) and somehow Noelle stepped into her role. Because her father Henri decided it was the best option.

For three years Noelle played the part of the perfect wife. Hosting and planning dinners and parties. Always making sure Grant's shirts were pressed, his cufflinks prepared, and gifts sent to HIS work and social circle. All the while he treated her as an obligation.

It's hard for me to decide if I think Grant actually groveled enough to deserve any chance with Noelle. But in the end... Maybe. Just maybe.

Emotional 🥲

The husband who’s blind to the absolute gem he’s married to. The wife who was her sister’s substitute bride when the sister chose someone else.
Grant spent 3 years focusing on the sister. Noelle spent 3 years swallowing every little insult and every little humiliation, appreciated by everyone but Grant.
Finally, 2 very obvious public humiliations, one straight after the other, and she’s done.
The road for Grant to realise his loss and to win his wife back, is littered with bittersweet recognition of everything he did and all he failed to do.
It’s an equally tragic and happy tale that I highly recommend.

Variations on the themes in the previous book in this series. Once again the h is quietly competent and underappreciated. She has been married to the H for three years. The H was engaged to the h's sister until she chose to marry someone else. The h became the replacement for her sister. The sister's marriage is rocky due to her husband's drinking, gambling and carousing. The sister turns to the H for comfort and he provides the murmurs and embraces until they become given in very public situations in front of many witnesses. The H defends the sister to the h when she plays the victim card. When the h leaves and files for divorce the H realizes how little he knows about his wife.

Is it just me? Or are rich people just fascinating!

Don't know how the neglected wife put up with uncaring husband for so long, but she did. Man, that guy was a jacka**! And that sister was a piece of work. Even though she got schooled, obviously she never learned.
The story kept me entertained to the point that I rushed through chores to get back to it. Looking forward to the next one.

Just another fl who takes a man back off neglected for yr

These stories yrs ago used to be loving now its more of the case annoying. 3yrs of neglecting, never picked belittled, not even given a thought of. Embarrassed publicly more than once, sister chosen first always. And 3 yrs of your huband wanting your sister. Why anyone would stay for 3 yrs living like that. Secondly why would anyone take them back even if they changed.

The pace was weird, the FMC was a doormat/ 50’s wife who lets her husband, her dad treats her like she is invisible but she cou tiny es serving their need like a dutiful wife!
What a joke!!
But the cherry on the cake, is that after being humiliated another time, somehow she grow à spine and the MMC just out of the blue realizes that he actually loves his wife?! What a joke!
This story wasn’t well thought out and I skipped a lot because of it!

I didn’t hate it but didn’t love it.. 3.50 out of 5 stars. Grant was a horrible husband until he wasn’t. It took Noelle walking away for him to come to terms with the fact that she was who he wanted all along & not her high maintenance sister.
He learned a lesson & then had to earn her back on his own without money to back him up.

Humiliated

I loved it. It was a long time coming for Noelle. Grant was an ass and he finally realized that his wife was the special one, not Camilla. Her dad was the one who should ha be apologized and acknowledged her. It all came together in the end. Though Camilla will always be that spoiled, selfish person. All she wanted was the money and status.

Continuity issues and characters are weakly developed. I’m not sure why or when he decided he loved her because he went from yearning after her sister and being indifferent to her to suddenly he realized sister was hollow and selfish. Ok as far as it is but converting indifference into love does not automatically follow

The mmc realizes his mistake at the end of the book. No grovel, no actual character development, the fmc is still a doormat that is okay with taking scraps even whatever little grovel her husband is giving her. Nope!
