I received an advanced copy of this book. This review is my honest thoughts on it.
Conduit of Fire is a story about morals, trust and sacrifice. It is a standalone fantasy novel that leaves room for sequels or parallel stories.
The magic in this world is called Enchantment - and it can make people with it go mad. Because of this, folks suspected to have it are tested and executed when they test positive - and it seems as though everyone is testing positive lately. The main character, Esmeralda, and her friends question why. Throughout the story, we learn why this is happening and potential ways to stop it. The mystery of it is as enticing to the reader as it is to those trying to do the right thing.
The character work is strong and the main characters are very likable. Even the antagonists are given solid reasons to do what they do. Everyone is trying to do what they think is the right for the people. They are motivated by friendship, principles and past betrayals.
4.5 stars rounded up. It's a very solid read and I would highly recommend adding to your list!

As an avid reader who has already cleared 137 books in the past six months, I can confidently say this book is an absolute fantasy lover’s dream. It completely immerses you in a beautifully crafted new world and makes you fall head over heels for the characters. (Though full disclosure: there were a few characters I thoroughly disliked—not because of the writing, but just because they are genuinely bad people!)
I devoured this in less than 24 hours. Honestly, the only reason it took me that long is because I had to sleep and had a kayaking trip planned the next morning! The pacing is phenomenal; it constantly leaves you wanting more and practically forces you to turn the page to see what happens next.

Strong character work, and the world-building left plenty of room for more stories in this universe.
There’s a lot going on though, enough that it felt like it could have been split into two books or stretched into a longer standalone. Between that and the multiple POVs jumping around in time, I found myself pausing to piece things together, so it took me longer to get through than a book this size usually would.
I understood the ending but that doesn’t mean I have to like it 😂 I still have a lot of questions and genuinely hope to read more from this universe.
Minor distraction for me personally: it’s written in third person, purely a personal preference thing.
Overall, really not bad for a debut!

From the first few pages, I was instantly hooked and wanted to know more. I wanted to understand the fear, the secrets… this books is full of vivid, descriptive writing that immersed me into the world created by this author. There were characters I was rooting for, characters who surprised me, and evil characters I despised. A very exciting and emotional fantasy. Great debut novel by this author!

I wanted to understand the fear, the secrets… this books is full of vivid, descriptive writing that immersed me into the world created by this author. I loved this book. There were a few times where I felt like it dragged, but then it picked right back up again.
The love that Brody had for Esmerelda was just amazing. Even after everything that had happened. There were so many times where I wished Jasper would have changed his mind about things, and helped more than he did. I was a little disappointed in the end, I was hoping for a different outcome, but it was still such a good book. It definitely sucked me in and left me wanting more.
