Arc Read - You know what’s better than a spicy Mafia Romance, is a MM spicy mafia romance that literally shocks you awake at its first opening paragraph. This captive story develops into a sweet and spicy relationship between Soren, our controlling and dominant mafia man , and Kit our sweet and shy captor who really comes into himself and realises he is stronger than he ever thought. I also loved the found family element and the relationship between all of the members of Sorens household. Out July 25th, an amazing MM romance you cannot miss

The King’s Weakness by V. Blackwell is a dark mafia romance featuring intense power dynamics, a morally ambiguous antihero, obsessive love and a broken boy who finds his strength in the arms of the man who ruined his life.

The book started off very dark, especially the dynamic between the two MMC‘s and the themes that came up. There are very strong power dynamics between them, which are really pronounced. I had to get used to that at first. But the further I got into the book, the more I enjoyed it.

The middle section was very suspenseful and also had some thriller elements, which I loved! From that point on, the book really drew me in and both MMC‘s developed well and won me over. I especially loved Kit by the end I adored him! His amazing growth and captivating character won my heart and I also grew to like Soren more and more.

The story was very capturing and I didn’t see the plot twists coming at all. There was also a bit of a “found family” trope, which I really liked! Some of the supporting characters definitely offer potential for more great stories. Sometimes it bothered me a bit that Kit was portrayed as so weak and was often referred to as “Kid” by everyone. That improved as the book went on, though.

I really enjoyed it and can recommend this book to all dark romance fans who like MM romance and want to get to know two strong characters!

The book begins with a very dark tone and intense power dynamics between the two MMC‘s, which took some getting used to but ultimately gave way to a suspenseful, thrillerish plot that completely drew me in. Both MMC‘s developed brilliantly, with Kit's incredible growth and Soren's evolution winning me over despite my initial frustration with how weak Kit was portrayed early on. Filled with unexpected plot twists and a great "found family" trope, this highly engaging story is definitely recommended for dark M/M romance fans.

“𝕋𝕒𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕞𝕖 𝕤𝕠 𝕨𝕖𝕝𝕝, 𝕟𝕒𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕪 𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕥𝕝𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘.”

Wow...... V. Blackwell really has a way of absorbing you in and you don't let up until you've finished and the kings weakness is another one that you'll be absorbed into.

The King's Weakness is filled with so much It's impossible to even know where to begin. You've got so many loveable characters both of the MMCs and side. All of the relationships between the characters were so well written it's generally the definition of a found family. It was so bloody wholesome, just the characters alone made me wish this book was longer. You've got two MMCs who are the complete opposite to one another but click so well, their relationship is adorable. Soren is this big muscular scary mafia king (who quite frankly can take me any day) and Kit who's the quiet nerdy kid who is so sweet you just want to cuddle him and protect.
The plot is well thought out, your left gripping your seat with every chapter. It dives right in (literally) and any questions you have throughout are explained. Now the spice 🥵 ooo the spice.... the first sentence alone is enough to tell you your not going to want to read this book in public and will probably be sweating all over because hell the spice gave and gave.

“ℂ𝕒𝕟’𝕥 𝕓𝕖𝕝𝕚𝕖𝕧𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦’𝕣𝕖 𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕖… 𝕞𝕪 𝕓𝕠𝕪… 𝕗𝕦𝕔𝕜, 𝕀 𝕝𝕠𝕧𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦, ℂ𝕙𝕣𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕡𝕙𝕖𝕣.”

Once again V. Blackwell has written a new book that is going to become one of my obessions, I sense a trophy copy will be purchased in the future and a reread is already in order. Don't sit around contemplating with this book or any book V. Blackwell writes because I promise you they are worth every second!

Thank you to the author for gifting me this e-arc in exchange for my honest review!

**Thank you to the author for allowing me to read The King’s Weakness as an ARC**

If you’re looking for a dark MM mafia romance where the romance is built around obsession, trauma, and moral corruption rather than redemption, The King’s Weakness is for you.

The relationship between Soren and Kit, whilst initially ambiguous in terms of consent, is strangely charming and you get into their physical relationship RIGHT AWAY (literally the first line 😅). It would have been nice to have a glimpse into how it progressed to that, but it doesn’t impact the story.

Kit is by far the most interesting character; his arc and development from timid twink to powerful and borderline psycho is a pleasure to read. It does happen fairly quickly, but it’s still satisfying and surprising.

Side characters, especially the found family, stand out and bring warmth to an otherwise quite gloomy world - but they never detract from the main story. Lorraine is an absolute queen 👸

My only criticism is the frequency of Kit being described as small, tiny, petite etc. during the first 3rd of the book. I just felt it was unnecessary, and did give Soren a creepy vibe initially.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
This is a dark MM mafia romance❤️‍🔥 which contains themes such as; intense power dynamic, morally ambiguous antihero and found family.

This book had me hooked from the first page! It dives straight in🤭 and doesn’t stop till the end.

I really enjoyed the book, all the characters stand out, my favourite has to be Armen🫶🏻 he has such good banter and is always making jokes even in their line of work🥰

Some parts in the middle/close to the end, after you meet Finn, had me questioning what’s going to happen next since there was still 40% of the book left but the author did a really good job in developing Kit’s character in there, into the strong (less broken) boy at the end. I would’ve loved to see more times of him with Lorraine’s kindle though😂

This is a spicy MM dark romance and I’d recommend to anyone starting out in dark romance or looking for a slightly lighter dark romance. This isn’t the most dark I’ve personally read but is still a really good dark romance💗

*The King's Weakness* by V. Blackwell was a book I absolutely devoured!

The dynamic between Kit and Soren was fantastic, and watching their relationship develop kept me hooked from beginning to end. The chemistry between them was incredible, and the spicy scenes were well written and fit the story perfectly.

The plot was engaging, the characters were well developed, and I loved the found family aspect. It was especially satisfying to see Kit gradually come out of his shell and grow into a more confident version of himself throughout the story.

I'm really hoping there's a second book exploring the organisation Kit's parents worked for, as I'd love to learn more about that backstory and the world V. Blackwell has created.

Overall, this was an addictive MM mafia romance with great characters, an engaging plot, plenty of spice, and a satisfying happy ending. I can't wait to read more from this series!

5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟… I freaking LOVED it! From the minute I started it, I didn’t want to put it down. I don’t usually read mafia romances but let me tell you….this had the spice🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️…the emotions you will feel reading this will turn you inside out( in a good way😊).

I thought for sure when I started this I would fall for Soren.. he’s tall, big..muscular, tattooed.. don’t get me wrong I soooo loved him and his gentle side with kit☺️but it was kit I fell for… nerdy, shy, dark curly haired. I think I fell for kit with the way he grew into himself through out the book, I loved seeing that!! Don’t pass this one up… I mean it this was a great read!

If you like DARK MAFIA, size difference, SPICE, trauma, healing, captive to lover, all the feels then this is the book for you!!
