Rock Bottom

Sometimes life can change in an instant. Sometimes you can point to a single event and say, ‘That’s where everything changed.’ And sometimes the change is so gradual you don’t even realize it happened until you're looking in the mirror one morning and no longer recognize the person staring back at you.

My name was Rylie Stark. And I had everything.
The looks.
The money.
The brains.
The athleticism.
Even my very own Prince.

Everything, until . . .

The thing about being on top of the world is . . . it leaves you a long, long way to fall.

One incident can change one's life in a matter of seconds. I don't think there is a way to prepare yourself for such drastic changes such as those Rylie faced. I liked the fact the author gave voice to many who are suffering from drug addictions. I found the story sad but triumphing. Testifying to the strength of the human spirit.

Very good story and while reading through the book some parts seemed hard to understand and with the twist and turns. I could not put it down till I finished it. There was some suspends in the book over all a great book to read.

While Rylie through her up and downs and having lots of pressure from her peers. As she had a lot of pressure put on her from everyone to excel and be the best she could be, and the pressure got to her and she wanted a release! I wish she had picked a different release, but it showed how easy it was for someone like Rylie to get into the kind of scene she did! She came a long way in this book though, and I loved the person she turned into at the end! Elijah was the love interest of Rylie, and although he was the one who introduced Rylie to drugs, he was the one who was always there for her and tried his best to get her to stop the drugs and beat the habit!
I did have some resentment towards Elijah for starting Rylie's habit, but then there was something about him that I loved and I could see that he only wanted the best for Rylie. I could see that he really loved her and would do anything for her too! Elijah was also seriously hot, and was the first person to show Rylie that she could do what she wanted in life and that she should do what she wanted and not what others wanted her to do, which made me respect him more! I did love Elijah and he also came a long way in this book. I can completely understand why this book is a standalone.

Hope there is another book out there like this as it kept me reading right to the end. Great author also and great writing .

"Let me tell you a story about a girl, who stood her ground against a douchebag teacher even when he threatened to destroy everything she'd ever worked for. About a girl that walked into a shithole and never once looked at the boy who lived there differently because of it. About a girl who cared about that boy in a way he'd never known before . . . Let me tell you something about that girl. She can do anything because she's a figgin' superhero. She's my hero . . . Now tell me that girl isn't strong enough."

Perfect title

This book had a little bit of everything you want in a book. It does have subjects that may not be for everyone. The title is right on point for the book. I couldn't put it down in the beginning, towards the end the story did get a little less interesting to me but it was still good.

4.5 stars!

I read an excerpt from this book at the back of this author's other book, Pieces of My Heart, and it left me desperate to read the full story! It left me completely hooked! I was then offered an ARC of this book from the author, and I instantly said yes! Once I received the book, I said that I was only going to read the first chapter, as I was reading another book at the time, but I ended up reading the first eleven chapters lol! I then managed to put it down and finish the book I was currently reading lol! I loved this book though! It was dark and gritty and progressed a lot further than I was expecting it too! It also dealt with difficult issues and addictions! The plot was written brilliantly! It progressed at the perfect pace and actually went in a different direction to what I was expecting it too! I wasn't expecting it to go as deep as it did, but it showed the brutality and realness of what some girls do go through, and it was actually hard to read at times! I loved where it progressed to though, and it came a long way and so did the characters! I just absolutely loved it! The characters were amazing! Rylie was the main character, and she went from a preppy, normal high school student to someone who became obsessed with drugs and would do anything to get more of them! My heart completely went out to her! I was hoping that her drug addiction wouldn't reach the stage it did, but it progressed a lot further than I was expecting! I could understand why Rylie's drug addiction started though! She had a lot of pressure put on her from everyone to excel and be the best she could be, and the pressure got to her and she wanted a release! I did have some resentment towards Elijah for starting Rylie's habit, but then there was something about him that I loved and I could see that he only wanted the best for Rylie! I could see that he really loved her and would do anything for her too! Elijah was also seriously hot, and was the first person to show Rylie that she could do what she wanted in life and that she should do what she wanted and not what others wanted her to do, which made me respect him more! I did love Elijah and he also came a long way in this book! I can completely understand why this book is a standalone! Everything in the plot was resolved and everything was answered! The ending was also very beautiful and completely summed the book up for me! I'm sad that this book is a standalone though! I can't wait to see what this author is going to release next as well! I've loved all her books so far, so I'm excited for her next release! The cover for this book is stunning! It really suits the book and you can see how well it suits the book after you read it! It also suits the feel for the book too! Big thank you to Jamie for a copy of Rock Bottom!

Rock Bottom is about Rylie Stark, the girl who had everything…looks, money, brains, athleticism, and even her own Prince. Then in a blink of an eye everything changes. The only bad thing about being at the top is that you have a long way to fall before hitting rock bottom.

I really enjoyed this book; it was a deep and dark read. Rylie got introduced to drugs by her boyfriend, Elijah. I wanted to hate him for the path her lead her down but there was a redeeming quality in him that wouldn’t allow me to hate him. He always seemed to have Rylie’s best interest at heart and was always there for her whenever she needed him. The pressures of life were too much for her and this began her obsession with drugs and her willingness to do anything to get more. I felt so sorry for Rylie and kept praying that she would turn her life around. Her addiction went to a dark place and I was relieved in the end that she came full circle.

This book was beautifully written, even though it dealt with such a serious subject matter. It was real and gritty, I loved the characters. I found myself caring about them and the outcome of the story; it was so sad to watch Rylie fall but the ending was perfect and resolved all of the issues. This book could have triggers for people who have suffered from addiction but I would recommend it to anyone who likes a real story with an original plot. This book was unlike anything else that I have read this year; it was interesting and completely consumed me. I look forward to reading more from Ms Canosa.

I am not sure where to start with this review. Overall, this is a good book. It is full of the things I look for in a book. It has a lot happening, many turns of events, characters that fit with the story, some suspense, some gut-wrenching parts.

However, with that being said, because of the above mentioned, I feel that this book was forced. Everything happened too quickly. I didn't have enough time to digest everything that happened. I feel this book should have been a two book series. At every turn, is should have happened a little slower. There should have been a little more going on at every turn of events. This story has the makings of a five star read for me, but it should have be more than what it is.

Jamie has such a good imagination when it comes to this story. I just would have liked her to have expanded this story, and given me more, stretch it out, give me more time with each situation, let is simmer in my head and heart a little more.

I think many are going to love this book. I am one for more of the things that people don't usually like, and that is why I think many will like it. They don't want too much of some things, certain situations, and they won't get too much of them in this book. They happen and the story moves on to the next. For those who don't like too much of hard to swallow situations, this is definitely a read for you.

This was my first time reading anything written by this author, and it will definitely not be my last. This book was very difficult to read because it dealt with such a tough subject. It was extremely well written, and kept me engrossed throughout. I also found it to be what I imagine is a very realistic portrayal of one's downwards spiral into drug abuse and all that it entails.

Read this book, you will not be disappointed. I am looking forward to checking out more of Jamie's work.

I am having difficulty writing this review and that rarely happens for me. There were things I loved about the book and the writing, but I struggled with the subject matter and how quickly things seemed to transpire into dire straights.

Budding college student Riley Stark appears to have everything, a great future, amazing friends a Prince of her very own, but suddenly everything changes and Riley's life certainly hits rock bottom. The plot of the book was good and I liked the writing style but for me personally something was missing.

It is a very dark read and deals with some disturbing subject matters. I just couldn't connect to what was happening with her, why didn't her parents, friends or Elijah step in sooner when they saw how addicted she was becoming?!

All in all I enjoyed the book and would definitely read another book by the author.

Rock Bottom follows Rylie Stark and shows how one interaction & one choice can unravel everything.

"Sometimes life can change so gradually that you don’t even realize it’s happening until you look in the mirror one morning and no longer recognize the person staring back at you..."

This was an easy story line to get into and follow. Sometimes I just wanted to throttle Rylie but then I also had to sit back and realize she's only a 17 year old girl. Her actions are quite believable, being at the stage of trying to find herself and transition into her own person.

This story isn't all sunshine and rainbows and may touch on tough subject matter for some but its worth the read.

Loved it...

Jamie Canosa, you rock!!! This book was so good. I did not want to put it down. I wanted to call in sick so that I could read sooner without interruptions, but common sense prevailed and I just read it as time presses enter itself. How I LOvED this book. I rooted for Elijah the entire time. The level of his devotion to Riley. Really made my heart sing. I can hardly wait to start your next next work of art. This my pursuit to read every book you have written. I thoroughly enjoy your work!!!
