After several months overseas, Rhett and Kaden O’Neil fantasize about a return to their version of normalcy. However, the FBI mission shows no signs of completion and the men are forced to wait. Just when Rhett reaches the end of his patience, a single phone call shatters his world. His beloved grandfather’s plane disappeared. No tracking. No landing. No crash site. Nothing. Rhett now must unravel the lies in place to protect him so he can help his family. And not even the risk to his own life will stop him.
Liz Borino transcribes the world inside her head onto the page, and share it with the people who are stuck in the “real world” to makes their lives a little more interesting. Because in her world, heroes fall and stand up again with the help of their partners and friends. Liz’s world is littered with formidable obstacles, which her heroes overcome with a fire of courage and passion. The beauty of love between two men is celebrated. Who wouldn’t want to live there? When not with her heroes, Liz enjoys exploring cities, working toward social justice, and editing for other authors. Liz is less than three months from obtaining her Masters’ degree in English and published nine books since 2010.
In the second book of the Secrets series, No Time for Secrets, Rhett’s sister Annabelle was found alive but kept in an unspeakable situation. Rhett rescues her and tries to set her life to rights but Annabelle would try a saint’s patience and one lie too many endangers everyone’s life. It also costs Rhett’s husband Kaden his leg. Book 3, Secrets of Nothing, picks up the story with Rhett continuing his grandfather’s mission with the FBI to rescue kidnapped woman. Rhett and Kaden are in Amsterdam and things are not going well. Kaden suffers from terrible nightmares about the plane crash that injured him badly enough that he had to have part of his leg amputated. Rhett is learning not to overprotect Kaden but it’s hard for both men to find their way, when Rhett gets more bad news: his grandfather is missing. The search for Pop leads to yet another mystery in which Rhett and Kaden find once again they don’t know who to trust. Annabelle once again proves that she is a damaged young woman who makes terrible decisions. Kaden isn’t the only one suffering from PTSD after the crash. Annabelle’s little boy, who is as destructive as a child with ADHD can possibly be, can’t even go near an airport, let alone board a plane. We’re introduced to a new character, Daisy, a German Shepherd service dog who has been trained to assist Kaden. Daisy can even open the refrigerator and fetch a bottle of water. She’s also alert to any variation in Kaden’s temperament. Daisy comes with her own trainer whose job now is to train Kaden and Rhett how to use Daisy as a service dog, not just as a beloved pet. There are many twists and turns as the story progresses. This is a mystery, spy novel, and romantic love story. Kaden and Rhett are still very much in love and still having hot sex to prove it to each other. The secrets in this series are like a hydra: when one puzzle is solved more secrets are revealed to take its place. In the middle of all the chaos happening to the couple in Europe Kaden gets yet another terrible phone call, this time about his mother. The ending of this book is the beginning of yet another unexpected adventure. The Secrets series is not finished, not by a long shot. This is one of my favorite series. I love Liz Borino’s style of writing. The characters of the series, especially Kaden and Rhett, stick with me long after the end of each book. The secondary characters are so much more than secondary to the stories. Pop, Annabelle, Donnie, Martha, Ariel, Stuart, other company employees, and even Lassie the cat and Daisy the dog are critical to the books. As Secrets of Nothing ends, you know the secrets and dangers are not yet over for anyone. I can hardly wait for the next book!
Rhett and Kaden have been to hell and back again, a couple times actually, on their journey for that ever elusive happy ever after. Now they are stuck overseas and Kaden is having nightmares, living through the daily pain of losing his leg and now they learn that someone is trying to kill them. When Rhett’s granddad goes missing, he will move mountains to find him and bring him home, no matter the cost. But is this just a ploy to bring Rhett out into the open?
I really enjoyed the sense of normality that was playing in the background, sort of like white noise, while Rhett and Kay were being put through the ringer. This book would have been way more tragic had it not been for the dialogue between Rhett and his sister. Her sexcapades in the cockpit of the plane had me in stitches.
What I didn’t care much for was the almost juvenile description of Rhett and Kaden when they were having sex. Seriously, it almost read like a YA book during the supposed passionate scenes, and that was very annoying when you take into account the similar situations in previous books. There was the usual tenderness they share, Rhett just worships Kaden and that was evident throughout the story. Kaden is experiencing some depression and self loathing having lost part of his leg in the plane crash, but Rhett is determined to make sure Kay knows how much he loves him every day, that was amazing.
This was just an okay read for me, and that pains me, because I’ve loved this series. Even with the slight step back with this story for me, I’ll continue to read Rhett and Kaden’s journies because I’m so invested in them as a couple that I have to know where the road is taking them. So I’ll still recommend this series to anyone that likes passionate romance and stories where your male leads have to struggle to find their happiness, but the reward is there in the end.
FiveStars Another great installment of Rhett and Kaden!!! Just like the last book, this one took me for a spin! There is a lot going on and secrets coming out of everywhere at times, but again the men rely upon each other to get through situations I hope no one else would have to live through (and there is quite a few of them). Part of me feels the same as they voice at one point about wanting things to not be so difficult, but the other part of me can't wait to see what happens next.
Pops and Annabelle annoyed me a bit in this one because as usual they do whatever they feel is right and everyone else has to deal with it... But I suppose so do Rhett and Kaden so I'll forgive the genetic stubbornness.
I absolutely can't wait for the next book in this series as we are left with a bit of a cliff hanger.I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. Renee
FourandHalfStars This third installment of the series was well planned and wonderfully written, maintaining the character growth and development that were set in motion during the first two books. Rhett and Kaden have really grown on me and the trials this couple manages to hold onto their relationship through makes it worth reading all on it's own.
Added to these amazing main characters is a twisting, action-packed plot that grabs hold of your soul and attempts to wrench it right out of your chest. The equally alluring and developed cast of supporting characters does their part to add turmoil and depth to the book and they are just as easy to love (or in some cases want to slap silly) as the two main characters.
The storylines in this series just keep getting better and better and I honestly couldn't put this one down until I'd finished it. A few minor grammar and spelling mistakes are honestly all that kept this book from being a full 5 stars and I look forward to more from this author in the future. Liz Borino has managed to make a simple story go on and on and unfortunately, or fortunately, I am hooked.
After the second book, where we found Kaden injured and Rhett nearly tearing his hair off from frustration and fear, we find them together once more, in bed (where else?). Unfortunately, Kaden is suffering, physically and mentally. His dreams are destructive and Rhett is learning not to baby his husband. When all things seem normal, other than their intense boredom from lack of activity, things begin not to add up.
Here we meet a new member of their family, Daisy, a beautiful shepherd who seems to know how to read human minds. We get to see Lassie, too sassy a cat to ignore. And then we get to look for Pop who seems to have disappeared. When Rhett begins to fret, the answers he gets is: nothing.
Not good.
Another mystery, another thriller, we seem to catch Rhett and Kaden at the most importunate times. We hunt with them, worry with them, and then wonder, where will it all head to? Then the ending comes and I got to think: oh no, when is the next one going to be released?
That was the worst cliff hanger of all times! I mean, really, it left me in the middle and I had to make sure nothing was left in the book to face the truth: book #4 is coming. ugh!
Original review on Molly Lolly Four stars! Oh man these boys are at it again. I love Kaden and Rhett. While you don’t really have to read the first two books in this series to enjoy Secrets of Nothing, you really should anyway. They’re good and you can get a better sense of all the players in the story and some of the background. However, you won’t be wildly lost if you choose not to. Somehow they mange to get into more trouble at the hands of Stuart and the government, though surprisingly through no real fault of their own either. Pop makes things kind of interesting this time around because he wasn’t a fan of retirement. The suspense in the story kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. There are some hints dropped throughout the story that give me some guesses on who and what is involved. What I love about the story is how Kaden and Rhett are so in tune with each other and will do anything for each other. Their love is the most important thing they have. Nothing that gets thrown in their path will shake their foundation. Not a fan of the cliffhanger ending, though it’s in a very logical place. I’m eager to read what happens next and how they get out of the situation they’re in.
Secrets of Nothing basically starts where No Time For Secrets ended. Rhett and Kaden are cooling their heels in Amsterdam until the FBI tells them they can go home. In the meant time Rhett's grandfather has gone missing and nobody is telling them anything. Rhett isn't having any of that and he gives the FBI a week to give him something to go on or he's going to the media about it. Little does he know.
Kaden's world is about to be knocked on it's axis more than it already is and Rhett is there to help him through it, no matter what.
I loved this book, although I don't like Annabelle. Don't get me wrong, I get what she went through in the first book, but I mean damn. I won't go into detail, but she needs to put on her big girl panties and take the world by storm and stop making everything so got dang difficult and don't get me started on the whole stranded situation. The FBI in this book is right along with her in the people I disliked the most, they worked my nerves just as bad.
I love Rhett and Kaden! They are one of my favorite couples, tied with Dex and Sloan. It was awesome sauce all wrapped up in hot damn! The love and support they have for each other is amazing!
Liz please for the love of all that is holy and beans, please say that the next book will be out soon because I think I'm going through withdrawal already.
I have been a die-hard fan of this series since it first came out, and I can say that I really enjoyed this installment. It did add a lot more to Kaden and Rhett’s relationship, and how they are still recovering from the crash. Especially with how drastically it affected both of them.
There were only a few things that I didn’t enjoy about the book, one of them being how much medical talk and explanations there were at the beginning of the story. To me, those parts seemed to drag along, and while I can understand why Ms. Borino added them, it was a bit boring for me personally.
I do have to say though, I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to find out what was going to happen next. Ms. Borino does seem to have a skill in capturing my attention and leave me wanting for more! Part 4 of this series can’t get here quick enough for me!

So disappointed. I was looking forward to this next book in the series because I love the already established couple, Rhett and Kaden. But, the book was a draft copy. It had strikeouts and word replacements and had so many grammatical errors it became a joke to read. How does an editing copy get to Amazon? Not sure if I'll continue with this series now.
They O'Neil boys are at it again in this installment of the Secrets Series. Liz continues to bring us more of this well established love story between Rhett and Kayden while bringing us all the emotion and mystery that revolves around this family. Continuing right where she left off with No Time For Secrets, this story does not disappoint. Can't wait to read the next installment!
I have had one relationship like that of Rhett and Karen's, alas I lost him to illness. This woman can write and make you feel the love of these two men. Everyone should read this series and the adventures of these two and then tell me you can't feel the love.
