Από τα βιβλία που δε θες να τελειώσει. Αλλά, έχει και συνέχεια! Και πόσο χαίρομαι γι' αυτό δε λέγεται.

Λοιπόν, δράση δράση και πάλι δράση. Στην αρχή λίγο σε μπερδεύει επειδή παρουσιάζει 3 διαφορετικές "σκηνές" που τρέχουν παράλληλα, οπότε μπορεί να χάσεις λίγο τη μπάλα με τα ονόματα, αλλά τίποτα που δε διορθώνεται στην πορεία. Οι κεντρικοί 2 χαρακτήρες, η Κένεντυ και ο Τίλμαν σε ένα παιχνίδι γάτας με το ποντίκι κυνηγούν και κυνηγούνται μέχρι και τις τελευταίες σελίδες, σε ένα εξαιρετικά δομημένο έργο.

Αν αγαπάς βιβλία με δράση (το ξαναλέω ναι), αν αγαπάς τα καλά αστυνομικά κι άμα δε σε νοιάζει να μείνεις ξύπνιος τη νύχτα για να το τελειώσεις, αυτό είναι το επόμενο βιβλίο που πρέπει να διαβάσεις!

Στο οπισθόφυλλο του βιβλίου αναγράφεται ότι το Ευαγγέλιο των Δολοφόνων είναι το πιο συγκλονιστικό συνωμοσιολογικό θρίλερ μετά τον Κώδικα DaVinci. Μέσα στην υπερβολή του παραπάνω, υπάρχει μια δόση αλήθειας.
Είναι ένα βιβλίο που από την αρχή του σε αρπάζει και σε βάζει στην ιστορία και καθ' όλη του τη διάρκεια γίνονται αποκαλύψεις και οι 650+ σελίδες του, κυλάνε σαν ορμητικό ποτάμι.
Σίγουρα οι haters τέτοιου είδους ιστοριών θα βρουν τα κλασικά: "πώς γίνεται μια οργάνωση/ σέκτα/ ομάδα να αντέχει τόσους αιώνες;", "πώς γίνεται οι "κακοί" να είναι πάντα τόσο μπροστά;" κλπ κλπ. Ισχύουν αυτά, αλλά το bottom line είναι ότι είναι μια εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρουσα ιστορία και ένα βιβλίο που δε γίνεται να αποχωριστείς άπαξ και το ξεκινήσεις. Ειδικά για φίλους συνωμοσιολογικών και ιστορικών μυθιστορημάτων στο στυλ του Dan Brown, είναι ό,τι πρέπει.

Μπορεί να μην είναι ο νέος 'Κώδικας Ντα Βίντσι', να περιέχει αρκετά κλισέ και να είναι μεγάλο σε όγκο, ωστόστο η δράση είναι καταιγιστική, οι περιγραφές είναι λεπτομερείς αλλά καθόλου κουραστικές, οι ήρωες ιδιαίτεροι και ενδιαφέροντες, υπάρχουν αρκετές ανατροπές, και γενικά είναι ένα βιβλίο που απέχει κατά πολύ από το μέσο όρο των βιβλίων του είδους που δεν ξεφεύγουν από τη μετριότητα. Το συστήνω ανεπιφύλακτα σε όσους λατρεύουν τα συνομοσιολογικά θρίλερ! Να δούμε τι θα λέει και η συνέχειά του που μόλις κυκλοφόρησε... (8/10)

Βιβλίο που παρέχει ισορροπημένες δόσεις αγωνίας και κρατά το ενδιαφέρον αμείωτο, παρά τον όγκο του.
Καταρχήν το δίδυμο των ηρώων, η Χέδερ Κέννεντυ και ο Λίο Τίλμαν αποδεικνύοντυαι συμπαθείς και προδιαθέτουν θετικά τον αναγνώστη. Ο Λίο κερδίζει τη μεγαλύτερη πίτα των συναισθημάτων συμπάθειας λόγω του βασανισμένου παρελθόντος του αλλά και της πίστης του στην αγάπη του, η οποία είναι υπεύθυνη για τον αγώνα του. Ποια γυναίκα δε θα ήθελε έναν τέτοιον άντρα δίπλα της;
Η Χέδερ από την άλλη, κουβαλάει και η ίδια το δικό της Γολγοθά και υφίσταται ψυχολογική πίεση τόσο από το επαγγελματικό της περιβάλλον όσο και από το οικογενειακό της παρελθόν. Το αποτέλεσμα της συνεργασίας των δύο θα λύσει τον γρίφο με επιτυχία και τους δύο ήρωες όρθιους, αφήνοντας και μία αιχμή για συνέχεια.
Η επιβίωση της σέχτας ανά τους αιώνες είναι λίγο ακραία. Ο αναγνώστης σηκώνει λίγο το φρύδι ψηλά για το πώς μπορεί να παραμείνει ένα τέτοιο μυστικό κάτω από τον ήλιο. Την εποχή των δορυφόρων, των απανταχού ραδιοκυμάτων, των απανταχού περίεργων - παντοδύναμων πώς είναι δυνατόν να υπάρχει μια ολόκληρη κρυφή κοινωνία κάτω από τη μύτη των ΗΠΑ που υπερδιηθούν το σύμπαν; Και πώς αυτή ολόκληρη η κοινωνία μπορεί να μετακομίσει; Αυτή ήταν και η εγγενής αδυναμία της πλοκής. Εάν όμως κάνει ο αναγνώστης την παραδοχή της φαντασίας, αδεία φαντασίας θα έλεγα, τότε όλα είναι αποδεκτά.
Επίσης, θα περίμενα μια πιο λεπτομερή περιγραφή της Χέδερ, εκτός του ότι ήταν όμορφη. Ενώ η περιγραφή του Λίο ήταν λεπτομερής για να μπορέσεις να τον σχηματοποιήσεις στο μυαλό σου, η περιγραφή της Χέδερ υστερούσε.
Τέλος, η πληροφορία ότι ο Adam Blake είναι ο γνωστός βρετανός συγγραφέας με προτίμηση στα κόμικ, ο Mike Carey, που κρύβεται πίσω από ψευδώνυμο, με εξέπληξε. Με έκανε να σκεφτώ πόσο διαδαλώδης μπορεί να είναι μια προσωπικότητα συγγραφέα ώστε να υιοθετεί στυλ που ενδεχομένως θα προκαλούσαν αρνητική κριτική για το πρόσωπο του. Από την άλλη ωστόσο, σκέπτεται κάποιος ότι αυτές οι προσωπικότητες που φέρουν το βάρος πολλών επιτυχιών για το έργο τους, φαίνεται να ασφυκτιούν μέσα στους κανόνες και θέλουν να "επαναστατήσουν" μερικές φορές γράφοντας εντελώς άλλα βιβλία.

Δεν μου άρεσε ιδιαίτερα. Από τη σελίδα 400 περίπου γίνεται καλύτερο και αρχίζει πιο έντονη δράση, αλλά αν είναι να διαβάσω τόσες σελίδες για να αρχίσει να με ενδιαφέρει τότε κάτι δεν πάει καλά ανάμεσα σε εμένα και ο βιβλίο. Το θέμα του είναι ωραίο, όμως μέχρι να αρχίσει να αναλύει το "θρησκευτικό" κομμάτι της υπόθεσης είχα κουραστεί. Επίσης δεν μου άρεσε η πρωταγωνίστρια, η Κένεντυ. Θεωρώ ότι έκανε παιδαριώδη λάθη που δεν αιτιολογήθηκαν ποτέ στην πλοκή σοβαρά τώρα, μπαίνεις μέσα σε ένα χώρο όπου πρώτα έχει μπει συνεργάτης σου, βλέπεις το αυτοκίνητο απ' έξω και δεν τον ψάχεις- ούτε εγώ δεν θα το έκανα αυτό σε συνάδερφο και δεν είμαι αστυνομικός .
Τέλος πάντων, αμφιταλαντεύομαι ανάμεσα στο 1 αστέρι και στα 2, δεν ήταν τόσο τραγικό ώστε να το αφήσω αδιάβαστο, έχω διαβάσει και χειρότερα βιβλία.

I will say first and foremost that this book is a slow read. It takes the term slow burn to a molassass level. I'm not sure why I thought this would be a good book to start mty year with, but it's done.

The prologue seems unrelated for almost half the book, which starts with twists of murder and revenge from the viewpoints of Kennedy and Tillman. What I can appreciate is the realistic view of woman in male-dominated fields; and how, due to a previous work incident, police deal with honesty vs team loyalty on an internal basis.

There does come a point where Tillman and Kennedy finally cross pathes and merge their individual goals, and I'd say that the story does get more cohesive from there. As you see the different strings come together and weave the story, you start to see the goals of the 2 leads and their respective approaches.

What threw me off was the addition of the perspective for the killers. They use them in limited stages until "Michael Brand" in the end, where Tillman's story get explained in full. Personally the ending felt as wrapped as a gift thrown into a bag. I understand that the ending closed the problems but it wasn't done in a fulfilling way

Ένα αστυνομικό με μία εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρουσα ιστορία που δεν έχει μόνο δράση και περιπέτεια αλλά και σασπένς και δόσεις μεταφυσικού. Οι δύο ήρωες που πρωταγωνιστούν είναι ενδιαφέροντες, δεν ανταγωνίζονται μεταξύ των και ω, του θαύματος δεν γίνονται ζευγάρι αλλά ούτε και πέφτουν στο κρεβάτι, στοιχεία λίγο σπάνια σήμερα. Το μόνο αδύνατο σημείο κατά την άποψή μου ήταν το τέλος του βιβλίου που δεν ανταποκρίνεται πλήρως στο στήσιμο της ιστορίας.

First thing I saw while I was at the library was the cover. It was saying: pick me uuup pick meeee uuupppp and I did just that. When I read the description at the back, I was expecting a mediocre book with some action to kill my free time.
How wrong was I....
This book was gripping. I held on to it whenever I could (I had to study, ugh right? xD)
It all started with a plane crash and I was immediately hooked. Then you're in London with sgt Kennedy and you forget all about the plane crash and sheriff Web. After that you get to know Leo Tillman, the mercenary. Enter the pale and weird looking people who are extremely good with martial arts.
They all start out as separate stories but they all get mixed up and how brilliant that was!
This book was fast paced, I can't say it was full of action but there was always something going on.
It will definitely make you question some things and after you are finished with it, it will leave you sitting there thinking for hours.

Nakon dosta knjiga koje sam u zadnje vrijeme pročitala, a bile su mi loše ili osrednje, konačno sam u ovoj u potpunosti uživala. Pustolovina u maniri DaVincijevog koda i jedan od meni najdražih žanrova. Ukratko, londonska detektivka se udružuje s bivšim plaćenikom u istrazi smrti troje povjesničara. Uskoro će se oboje naći na meti fanatičnih ubojica koji vjeruju da su potomci Judina plemena i koji ne prezaju ni od čega kako bi zaštitili tajnu skrivena gnostičkog evanđelja koja – prema njihovoj predaji – može promijeniti svijet. Napeto i zanimljivo štivo puno preokreta i dobre akcije. Također je to i jedna od onih knjiga iz kojih se može ponešto i naučiti, ovaj put o evanđeljima, posebice o svicima s evanđeljima pronađenim kod Mrtvog mora.

Que livro espetacular! Acabei-o há uns minutos apenas e ainda estou em choque com a magnitude de tudo e, especialmente, com a revelação final: Tillman matou os 2 filhos rapazes! Claro, sem saber que eram os seus filhos, desaparecidos há 13 anos; para ele eram apenas 2 homens, que faziam parte do inimigo e que estavam a tentar matá-lo. Saberiam os rapazes que tentavam matar o pai? OMG! Tomara que Tillman nunca venha a descobrir.

Só houve ali uma parte para lá de meio do livro mais "estranha", sobre o Evangelho que Barlow descobriu e a sociedade dos Filhos de Judas e os últimos capítulos que foram um pouco mais aborrecidos e descritivos. De resto, esta foi uma aventura completamente alucinante! Fiquei agarrada às páginas (ainda que páginas virtuais, do Kobo), para saber mais sobre o avião que se despenhou nos EUA, os homicídios na Inglaterra, Tillman e Kennedy, aquelas pessoas estranhíssimas, muito pálidas e todas parecidas que se moviam com uma rapidez tremenda e inabaláveis que apareciam em todo o lado... Alucinante mesmo!

Fico contente por Tillman encontrar paz no facto de Rebecca o ter amado mesmo depois de ter de regressar ao seu "povo" e em saber que os filhos estavam vivos - ou antes, ele pensa isso, mas na verdade só a filha é que está viva e ele matou os filhos...

M.C. Carey, writing as Adam Blake, sets up a fast paced thriller with lots of guns, explosions and action sequences but this is, at heart, a literary mystery which relies on codes and riddles to untangle what is actually going on.

While reading, I kept thinking "what a load if old tosh", but couldn't stop getting dragged into the depths of the absurdity at the heart of this Biblical Conspiracy. The ending is in the vein of the old James Bond novels and the novel doesn't so much conclude as stop. However, I've already downloaded the sequel ready for another deep dive into this strange world Carey has created.

This one's in the genre of Dan's Brown's Da Vinci Code and Origin, whereby there are guardians who have existed down through the ages protecting religious history relating to Christ, so without doing a spoiler, the heroes of this story get caught up in a trail of violence that relate to part of the Dead Sea Scrolls. There is a fair amount of violent action, again with a storyline that follows numerous threads and characters, to the perhaps somewhat predictable finale, but at least the reader gets a bit of a low-down on the guardians' reasons & purpose, which is wrapped up in a somewhat strange unimaginable twist to the story of Jesus Christ. All good stuff but a bit improbable in places, nonetheless a jolly good read anyway.

Great book. I am not a religious person or a believer in a higher power or supreme being but, stories about alternatives to bible or dispelling it are fascinating. This book did just that and added suspense, action and wonderful characters. I have already ordered Adam Blake's second book.

Μια ενδιαφέρουσα πλοκή με ένα μάλλον συνηθισμένο θέμα. Μια θρησκευτική σέκτα από την μία μεριά και δύο Βρετανοί τόσο διαφορετικοί ο ένας από τον άλλο στην άλλη μεριά. Μια σειρά από περίεργα ατυχήματα άσχετα μεταξύ τους αποδεικνύονται όχι ατυχήματα και όχι άσχετα. Η νεαρή αστυνομικός Χεδερ Κεννεντι συναντά τον περίεργο Λίο Τίλμαν, που κινείται περισσότερο εκτός νόμου και οι δύο τους ενώνουν τις δυνάμεις τους για να αντιμετωπίσουν τον άγνωστο κοινό παράγοντα των "ατυχημάτων". Το δίδυμο έχει ωραία δυναμική και αλληλοσυμπληρώνονται σε ίσο βαθμό.
Το μυθιστόρημα κινείται σε όλο τον κόσμο και έχει αρκετά δυνατή πλοκή όσον αφορά το εμφανές μέρος της ιστορίας, αυτό που λαμβάνει χώρα πάνω από το σεντόνι του μυστικισμού. Το υπόλοιπο κομμάτι είναι ένα μεγάλο ερωτηματικό. Πώς μια τόσο μεγάλη ομάδα να έχει διατηρηθεί μυστική για τόσους αιώνες και να είναι αυτάρκης από τον εξωτερικό κόσμο; Πώς καταφέρνουν να μετακομίσουν απολύτως όλα μέσα σε δύο μέρες χωρίς να υποψιασθούν τίποτα απολύτως οι αρχές μιας μεγάλης πόλης; Και αφού ο κύριος Μπραντ αφήνει πάντοτε πίσω του ένα νόμισμα και χρησιμοποιεί πάντα το ίδιο όομα κανείς δεν βρέθηκε μέχρι τώρα να τα συνδέσει παρά τις συνεγασίες που έχει η ιντερπολ;
Αλλά ας μην είμαι άδικη. Το βιβλίο ήταν διασκεδαστικό και διαβάζεται γρήγορα. Έχει ορισμένα κλισέ και μπορώ να πω πως κατάλαβα πως οι γιοί του Λίο ήταν μέρος της ομάδας εξόντωσής του ήδη από την σελίδα 300 (από τις 650 της έκδοσης). Μόνο που νόμιζα πως και η κόρη του ήταν εκεί. Ένα από τα στοιχεία που δεν κου άρεσαν ήταν η γλώσσα που θύμιζε έντονα αμερικανιές ενώ οι πρωταγωνιστές είναι Άγγλοι. Η μετάφραση είναι ωραία και νομίζω πως αυτό οφείλεται στον ίδιο τον συγγραφέα.
Κερασάκι στο όλο βιβλίο ήταν η αποκάλυψη πως το Adam Blake είναι ψευδώνυμο γνωστού συγγραφέα κόμικ. Πολύ εντυπωσιακό γράψιμο για κάποιον που ειδικεύεται σε άλλο τομέα.

The hook on the cover states "Everything you knew about the death of Christ is a lie!" Well as it turns out this boast and the whole book turn out to be a bit of a damp squid. If you're expecting something to rival The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie forget it.
The inside cover says Adam Blake is the pseudonym of a best selling British writer, we don't know who he is, apparently it's Mark Billingham. When an author decides to create an alias there is usually a very good reason. In this case the book it's not really up to the hype and he knows it. A bit like Sam Bourne. Sam knows that Jonathan Friedland (his real name) will not sell action books.
As a detective story this is not bad...I liked the little twist at the end. Well, without spoiling it the reason he gives for why the death of Christ is a lie isn't really that much controversial and some of his ideas about God in the old testament weren't really that new.
First and last Adam Blake for me...might try Mark if I'm ever stuck for a thriller. The detective part of the story was good, shame it was spoiled by the devious premise on the cover.

There is absolutely no way that this book was written by anyone who lives in or who was born in Britain. It all reads like an American thriller. I had to keep checking to make sure that the bits I was reading were set in England (a portion of the book is set in America) because the author had British characters saying 'goddamn' and using words like 'kindergarten' and the police infrastructure was all wrong, there was obviously minimal research done there (although at least normal police officers weren't all carrying guns.) It just knocked me out of the story every time an Americanism was used in a British setting. It's bad enough when people make that mistake in fanfiction but I expect better from a professionally published novel.

Moving on to the story, although I found it implausible, I didn't think it was more so than any of novel of its type. I didn't guess the ending early on in the book and the characters were okay. The problem was that everything was just okay. I wouldn't recommend unless you're an American who won't notice Americanisms out of place.

Such a shame about the ending of this book - bit of a damp squib. The premise of the book is quite intriguing and a variation on the other recent 'alternate biblical history' books I have read and indeed the book goes along at a good pace - not the best written but entertaining enough. Then the ending IMO is totally fudged. Without giving too much away - too many people knew what happened for it to be kept quiet and so the ending was a disappointment. But ok for a holiday read.

A secret cult, a new gospel, trained assassins, a cop in trouble, and an ex soldier searching for answers are a staple of books like this.

That said it is fast paced, full of the odd surprise and a thoroughly enjoyable read.

It has nothing new and is a typical genre piece in a well worn genre.

But I enjoyed reading it and was interested in the characters.

Well worth a few hours of your time.

Four stars, but a high four stars. I enjoyed this one quite a lot, though there were a few things lacking.

I had never heard of this book until I came across an AMA where Mike Carey (aka M.R. Carey) mentioned, very much in passing, that he had written a couple of books under a pseudonym (so we can add aka Adam Blake). He didn't seem especially proud of them, and notably commented that he had nothing to do with the book titles or blurbs, and that was it. Being, currently, in a bit of a Carey kick in my reading, I looked for the two books and found them, used, for pretty cheap, so gave them a shot.

This book initially comes across as a bit of a Dan Brown type of book, but with Carey's writing style. That said, I genuinely enjoyed it much more than any of the 2 or 3 Dan Brown books that I've read, and it is MUCH more grounded. Nothing as ridiculous as Brown does, no Vatican with jets that fly faster than anything in the real world, no excessively over the top secret societies (minor spoiler: I'm not saying that there isn't one present here, just that it is much more restrained). The characters have more depth and aren't just caricatures (or not anywhere near to the same degree, anyway).

All of that said, it definitely does feel more like Carey maybe got hired to do his version of a DaVinci Code type of story, and the majority of the plot, roles of characters, and more action-oriented storytelling follow those types of stylistic elements... and Carey makes it entertaining.

Overall, I enjoyed it, and it was well-written but also a pretty light read.

Unfortunately, there were some downsides here.
As is typical of Carey, we spend a long time getting to the end, and then it just happens really quickly, and ends up (not always the case, but it is in a few of his works) leaving you a bit disappointed and underwhelmed. A lot of build up for an ending that resolves things a little too quickly and cleanly.
Additionally, the big background thing that is the (macguffin) secret is just... not really a big deal, or much of a secret. If we go back to the DaVinci Code, it's really about keeping what REALLY happened with Jesus secret, lest there be societal repercussions. Here, the big secret just isn't that major, despite the front and back cover blurbs, and there's a real world version of it that no one really cares about, and... the book just seems to go on its own momentum, and you don't really care about the big background in it, or the little twist (or two).

Despite that, I still really enjoyed the read, and still think it deserves the 4 stars.
Looking forward to the next book under this pseudonym, and a bit bummed that we didn't get to see the same evolution as Carey has had as a written applied to the Adam Blake style of Biblical adventure books.

Oh yeah, the title? The blurbs on the back and front covers? They really are bad, and really have virtually nothing to do with the actual book. Whoever came up with them either didn't actually read all the way to the end of the book, or just wanted to get airport bookstore sales.

Când dispeceratul a sunat să îl anunţe pe şeriful Webster Gayle despre accidentul aviatic, acesta se afla la sala de bowling, pregătindu-se să cufunde o lingură într-un bol enorm cu îngheţată. Unul dintre gândurile care îi treceau prin minte în timp ce asculta veştile, alături de sentimentele de milă pentru cei morţi şi pentru rudele lor rămase în viaţă şi groaza la gândul rahatului în care avea să intre din cauza asta, era acela că îngheţata lui imensă la pahar, cu sirop şi frişcă pe deasupra, de şapte dolari, avea în mod sigur să se ducă pe apa sâmbetei.
— Aterizare forţată? întrebă el, asigurându-se că a înţeles.
Îşi făcu mâna căuş pe telefon ca să acopere zgomotul popicelor care erau doborâte şi apoi aşezate la loc pe pista alăturată.
— Nu, zise Connie pe un ton categoric. Nici nu a fost vorba de aterizare. Avionul s-a prăbuşit pur şi simplu din cer şi, la impactul cu solul, a dezlănţuit iadul. Nu ştiu cât de mare era sau de unde venea. Am sunat la cei de la controlul de trafic aerian din Phoenix şi Los Angeles. Te anunţ când primesc veşti de la ei.
— Şi eşti sigură că este pe teritoriul nostru? întrebă Gary, agăţându-se de o firavă speranţă. Am crezut că avea culoarul de zbor înspre vest, spre Arcona…
— S-a prăbuşit chiar lângă autostradă, Web. Pe cuvântul meu, văd şi fumul de aici de unde stau. Nu e chiar pe teritoriul nostru, dar e aşa de aproape, încât ai putea ajunge pe jos de la Gateway Mall. Deja i-am transmis şi lui Doc Beattie. Vrei să mai fac şi altceva?

Και παραλαμβάνω αυτό το τούβλο των 654 σελίδων από ταξίδι και ετοιμάζεται να αλλάξει χέρι μετά από μένα και μένω άναυδη. Δεν το περίμενα και ένα ωχ αργοσχηματιστηκε στο κεφάλι μου.
Ξεκινώντας και περίπου μέχρι τις 100 σελίδες είμαι meeeeh.
Μετά όμως φίλε μου πήρε φωτιά και μου έβαλαν νέφτι στον κώλο να δω τι θα γίνει παρακάτω.
Αναπόφευκτα σου δίνει ψήγματα και δεν γίνονται οι αναττοπάρες, αλλά αυτό δεν το κάνει να υστερεί σε κάτι.
"Μεταμφιεζουμε την βαναυσότητά μας με τελετουργιες προκειμένου να κρατήσουμε μακριά την ίδια την ζωώδη φύση μας. Και η Μαριάμ ποτέ δεν υπήρξε πιο ευγενική ή πιο συμπονετική απ' όσο τις στιγμές που σκότωνε.
Ένας χαμένος κώδικας και ένα κρυμμένο Ευαγγέλιο. Μια χιλιοειπωμενη ιστορία, που όμως έχει και κάτι το διαφορετικό μέσα της.
"Χρησιμοποίησε τούτη τη φρικτή απεικόνιση για να έρθει στα συγκαλα του : το κόκκινο, τα χαλιά του και την επικίνδυνη πραγματικότητα. Προτίμησε αυτα, αντί για την καθαρότητα ενός αιώνιου τίποτα."
Πόσοι φόνοι μπορούν να γίνουν για μερικές λέξεις? Και πόσο πόνο μπορούν να προκαλέσουν μερικές παραδόσεις?
Λογικό είναι να υπάρξουν και μερικές ατασθαλίες στην επιμέλεια, με πιο τρανταχτή, το σπασμένο αριστερό χέρι, που ξαφνικά γίνεται δεξί στο νάρθηκα.

Not a bad book. Really interesting title, some really good fast moving sections of the story, but a fair amount of slow and ponderous parts.
Heather Kennedy is a detective sergeant in the police and is on restricted duties due to her involvement in the death of a colleague when on the armed response unit. She's given a three week old case to look into, which quickly turns into a triple murder.
Leo Tillman is an ex soldier whose wife and three children disappear off the face of the earth, leaving a note saying they're not to be followed.
Eventually, Tillman and Kennedy join forces to try and solve the puzzle of an obscure sect who send people out to increase their gene pool and others who seem to act as executioners.
We travel from Britain to America and down to Mexico on the trail of the assassins who are killing anyone who finds out about a codex that appears to shed a different light on Christ's Crucifixion.
The culmination of the story comes in Mexico, when the sect has moved out and one person is found as he's flooding their old home.
The ending falls a little flat and left me wondering why I'd read the book.

“… este testamento não será lido ou conhecido por ninguém, fora da família, nem entregue a outros de forma nenhuma. Mas, se vierem a conhecê-lo, eles serão abatidos… ”
“… e sua bocas serão detidas, e seus dias, contados. Pois a barganha Dele não foi para com eles, mas para conosco, que recebemos nossa vida de Judas, de Caim e da serpente, seu pai”.


Bem, por essa citação já deu pra perceber com que espécie de pessoas Kennedy e Tillman estavam lidando.

O que achei super bacana no livro são os relatos históricos e bíblicos que dá até um ar sobrenatural e nos faz questionar: Será possível?
Eu comprei este livro na Bienal de 2016 e só depois que terminei de ler que descobri que tem continuação, embora o final tenha sido satisfatório.
Por fim é impossível não comparar Manuscritos do Mar Morto de Adam Black aos livros de Dan Bronw até mesmo por causa do tema histórico e religioso com a mesma narrativa empolgante, cheia de suspense e ação.
