Thank you Lolly for the ARC!
This book was so clever and unique. Its non stop action from start to finish and I was lucky to have a cameo in it!
Gory and exciting. I highly recommend this read!

I received this ebook as an arc from the author for my honest opinion/review.

Join Liam and his yellow suitcase at the book cons, where he needs to get signatures from the authors to feed the entity that's inside. I love how Lolly has used Indie authors names in this book but changed them to make you guess who's who 😂🫣 Will Liam get everything he needs or will he be stopped. This was a fantastic read I highly recommend it

I was lucky enough to be sent an ARC of The Yellow Suitcase of Demise by author Lolly Sparrow.

An introduction: Hi. I'm Liam. I have a TikTok account @liamlikesbooks and I enjoy going to indie horror book events and grabbing a bunch of books from authors and filming book hauls. I attend these events with my trusty yellow suitcase, which was initially introduced in Weston-super-Mare and then again in Liverpool, which I fill with books signed by authors.

That felt like important context to establish before diving into the book.

The Yellow Suitcase of Demise introduces us to Liam. He has a TikTok account and he enjoys going to indie horror book events and grabbing a bunch of books from authors and filming book hauls. He attends these events with his trusty yellow suitcase, which is accompanying Liam to Taunton, and which he will fill with books signed by authors and their souls.

I think it goes without saying that I might be a little biased when reviewing this book. Following a Facebook post I made when arriving in Liverpool for the Indie Horror Chapter 4 event, author Lolly Sparrow commented suggesting the yellow suitcase deserves its own story written about it, and I can think of no-one better to write such a tale than Lolly herself. Thus, the concept of The Yellow Suitcase of Demise was born. The wonderful and scary thing about posting on the internet is that you just never know what might happen. One day I'm posting about my yellow suitcase. Then Lolly posts suggesting a story should be written. And a few weeks later I'm being sent an ARC of Lolly Sparrow's newest book The Yellow Suitcase of Demise. The internet truly can be brilliant sometimes.

If I attempt to remove my bias, The Yellow Suitcase of Demise is a seriously fun book. Serving as a love letter to the indie horror community, while lovingly lampooning a handful of authors and readers, this story does an excellent job of capturing the buzz of book events, the thrill of meeting authors, the excitement of obtaining signatures, the sheer joy of stealing souls. Sparrow also isn't afraid to throw in some gruesomely dark moments - what happens after an author's soul is captured needs to be read to be believed. With Sparrow's wicked sense of humour, there's an excellent balance of light and darkness here, much like a yellow suitcase yawning open and waiting to be filled.

For those familiar with UK indie horror authors, there is great entertainment to be had in spotting the inspiration behind certain characters featured here. But even without that familiarity this is still a riveting read chronicling the battle of good and evil. Sparrow even finds time to squeeze in a few pointed barbs which will be recognisable to any fan of literature (those who rely on AI assistance, for example, do not meet the suitcase's approval), which made me smile.

The Yellow Suitcase of Demise is packed full of bloody good fun, and I'm not just saying that because I'm the inspiration behind the main character here. Sparrow has delivered a thoroughly enjoyable book that I couldn't put down - I read this in one sitting because I just needed to know what happened next. Easiest five stars I've ever given to a book. Much like the suitcase, this may be greedy, but I can't help but want more...

(P.S. to any authors reading this, I promise if me and my yellow suitcase see you at a future book con I won't steal your soul. Probably.)

5/5

Inspired by TikToker Liam Underwood and his yellow suitcase, Lolly Sparrow came up with a fun version of what's really going on with the suitcase: no, it's not filled with books grabbed at UK indie horror book events, to be filmed as book hauls; according to Sparrow's version, the suitcase plays host to an evil supernatural entity with a weak spot for unfinished stories - and it eats authors' souls in conventions! Liam is there to guide it to original creators (definitely not critics or reviewers lol): sign a book for Liam, get your soul stolen, spend eternity writing stories for the evil suitcase - using your own bones, on your own skin, with Blaze Jerzy's innards for bookmarks! Genius.

Guessing who the fictional authors in the fictional convention are based on was really fun, and it's not hard to guess which one is given the spotlight in the book! Apparently famous UK horror author Kelvin Victor Alberts has what it takes to deal with Liam and his yellow suitcase - or does he? Well, things do get heated once Kelvin notices Liam acting strangely, and the story does go bonkers once Kelvin decides to ignore all those insanely long queues of people waiting for him to sign their books! But will there be a final showdown between Kelvin and Liam? Read and find out!

"The Yellow Suitcase of Demise" combines horror satire with cult- and cosmic horror elements, conveying perfectly (from the inside) that elusive horror event feel of meeting authors and eating their sou.. I mean, getting their signatures. If you're even slightly familiar with the UK indie horror scene, you'll certainly enjoy it! Highly recommend!

**BOOK REVIEW**
BOOK: The Yellow Suitcase of Demise
AUTHOR: Captain Lolly Storm Sparrow
REVIEW: So, this book was a lot of fun! The best part, I make a cameo appearance! This book follows Liam, who is a book reviewer and a cult member with the Biblodonkadonks. He's on this holy mission to feed an entity in a yellow suitcase only known as The Curator. He feeds it the souls of the authors who sign their books for him. But can he be stopped? Read it and find out! This had everything! There were multiple author appearances in the book, and can I just say our afterlives were brutal! My fingers still hurt! I did a lot of laughing while reading this, and it just flew by! I can't wait to see what Lolly writes next!

Liam’s off to an author event but it’s not a book haul he’s after! Unbeknownst to others he’s a bibliodonkadonk and he’s after so much more than books. This book has definitely pulled me from my reading slump! It is funny, horrifying and it was an absolute delight to pair the characters with real people! Easy 5 star for me. Lolly’s writing is going from strength to strength and I cannot wait to read more from her!

This is the first book I've read from Lolly Sparrow and I have to say this was a fun read. Liam, a book reviewer, has to step into the world of book cons and try to get the souls of unsuspecting authors to feed the entity that is inside his suitcase.

It was fun trying to figure out who the different authors were. A few of them I knew exactly they were supposed to be in the indie horror world. A great combination of cosmic horror and comedy made this a fun read. I've never been to a book con before, but now I know to be on the lookout for a crazy man with a yellow suitcase, haha.
