Amy Cross writes novels and short stories in a number of genres, mainly horror, paranormal and fantasy. Books include The Farm, Annie's Room, The Island, Eli's Town and Asylum.
3.5☆ Amy Cross is always good for some spooky reading. It has been a while since I read any of her work, and this one surprised me a bit. Paula had more body horror than what I remember Cross writing before, but I was up for it! I will never look at a certain kitchen implement the same.
I, personally, really like Ms, Cross's books, especially the Crowford series and, most recently, the London hours set. That said, this particular book was a bit too much for my taste. I would liken it to slasher films that use gore to forward the storyline instead of true horror. Sorry, Ms, Cross. This was too over the top for my taste.
I'm a big Amy Cross fan but this novella was really more graphic than she usually writes. I feel it was unnecessarily brutal in torture of the character. It was over the top in a sexual abuse scenario. I'm disappointed in Amy Cross for this.
