"Garden Girl" Gloria Rutherford is having a bad day. A really bad day. Just when she thinks it couldn't possibly get any worse, it does.
The sleepy little town of Belhaven has just been invaded by a swarm of federal authorities sent to investigate the local post office and it's postmaster, who just so happens to be one of Gloria's best friends, Ruth.
When Ruth is put on temporary leave pending the outcome of the investigation, she asks Gloria if she can come and stay with her until the crisis is over. Gloria doesn't have the heart to turn her down.
With Ruth underfoot and the uncertainty of not knowing how long the "official investigation" might take, Gloria has never been more motivated to solve a mystery!
Knowing she'll need every trick up her sleeve, plus a little help from her friends and from the other Garden Girls, she'll do whatever it takes to help her friend and save her own sanity!
Can she get Ruth back to work and her cozy life back to normal - or will Gloria have a new, permanent houseguest?
This is book 5 in the Garden Girls series and can be read as a stand alone. I have read several of the books in this series but not all. Gloria opens her home to her friend Ruth after the feds start investigating the post office for drug distribution. Someone is doing a job of framing Ruth and it's up to Gloria and the rest of the gardening club to find out who. Easy to read and many a smile makes this a fun quick read. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
So far, I’ve read five books in Hope Callaghan’s Garden Girls Series and have thoroughly enjoyed reading each one. There were many scenes that had me laughing out loud and other scenes where I could feel the tears trying to spill. Besides writing a great Whodunit, Ms. Callaghan gives enough information about the characters to allow readers to get to know and love them and yet still manages to include all the relevant mystery solving facts. All Ms. Callaghan’s stories are Christian based, and do not include any offensive language, graphic violence or sexually explicit scenes. This is a book the entire family can read and enjoy.
Ruth loved her job as postmaster, and getting the latest gossip, now the doors are locked, who is she talking too. Ruth later tells Gloria she is out of a job, and investigation was going on. She loved Ruth from a distance, not as a houseguest. Only person she could think of was a real nosy woman started coming in awhile back. What was going thru this small office, The garden girls are busy getting for a yard sale. The talk in town, is busy, when will Gloria have the answers and .ruth can go home. Her books are always easy, enjoyable and fun to read.
Hope Callaghan does it again. Gloria and Ruth have their work cut out for them in this one while the DEA and FBI are investigating drug trafficking. Ruth is staying with Gloria and seems fixated on the post office, having put up a survaillance camera illegally, she sits all day watching the goings on at the post office while Gloria is doing some investigating on her own. Read to find out the antics and the real culprit to the drug trafficking.
You never know what can happen in a small town, but Hope Callaghan sure thinks up some of the most tantalizing Mysterys that keep This small town garden club busy.Gloria and her friends seem to be cotup in the middle of things and having to figure out what's really happened before one of the garden club caracters is hurt or halled of in handcuffs. This storey is a marvelous example of one of her fabulous array of cozey mystery reads. Kat
This was another fun adventure with Gloria and the girls. This mystery involves drugs- who, what, where, when, and why? It was a fresh break from a murder. I did have a question about Dot's part time help changing and we were not given a reason why. But it's a detail I prob noticed that most people didn't. Recipes included!
I like to read Hope Callaghan's books because they are clean and the main characters go to church, pray, and even read the Bible. These Garden Girls books are about Gloria, an elderly woman (probably in her 60's) who, with her friends, are able to solve mysteries in their small town of Bellhaven, Michigan. I would probably give it 3 1/2 stars. It was enjoyable.
As usual, Hope Callaghan gives us a good cozy mystery. This time Grace works to clear her friend Ruth. The story flows well and you are entertained. As usual you get a little more at the end in the form of a recipe. On again to the next book.
It seems impossible that the storylines and characters could get better and better! You end up growing with the people and Gloria. It is like you are all best friends working together to help Gloria solve the mystery! I love it!
Gloria helps clear Ruth of suspicion in drug trafficking at the post office. She also gets together with the girls to run a huge sale at the same time, as well as comfort her boyfriend, who has troubles of his own. Fun clean cozy mystery.

In the meantime Gloria decides to have a garage sale and invites her friends to join in. They have a lot of stuff. Gloria and Ruth investigate the Post Office. A good story with a great outcome.
