This "Yoga in Daily Life" booklet describes all the exercises taught in the First (or Fundamental) Yoga Course of Swami Dev Murti Ji. This booklet was written in the 1960s by our Yoga Teachers, Jack Boulton and John More, who were Students of Swami Dev Murti Ji for over 25 years. During the 1960s, Jack & John also wrote a "Yoga In Practice" book which will be published as a Kindle version in the near future. Anyone who purchases the Kindle version of "Yoga In Daily Life" can request an A4 size PDF version (which is suitable for printing, for personal use only) by using the contact details below. This Kindle Edition was produced and published on 27 September 2014 for the fifth anniversary of Swami Dev Murti Ji’s passing away on 27 September 2009. Our Yoga Teachers Jack Boulton and John More passed away in 1988 and 1986 respectively. The original German Edition of "Yoga in der Praxis" and English Edition of “Yoga In Daily Life” were produced by Jack and John in the 1960s, inspired by the Yoga Teachings of Swami Dev Murti Ji. We hope that this Kindle Edition is useful to anyone interested in The Yoga of Swami Dev Murti Ji. Apart from the format and presentation, and a few extra colour photographs, the actual content is unchanged from the original (apart from a few necessary but minor typographical corrections). Swami Dev Murti Ji was the Great Grand Father of Yoga in recent times. Although he chose not to be well known and famous, he taught many Students who then set up their own Ashrams, Gurukuls, Associations, Groups, Societies, and Commercial Schools. (He once said in a lecture that his target was 1%, which we assumed meant 1% of the whole world population, not just India or UK or Germany.) Swami Ji was responsible for teaching most of the "big names" in Yoga for at least the past 50+ years, in India and in the rest of the world. He was a Teacher of Teachers and our Grand Teacher. He was relatively unknown to the world media, although when I was with him for a year (1987) in India, everyone seemed to know him wherever we went and they often talked about the "good old days". Swami Ji had often taught three or more generations in the same family! Swami Dev Murti Ji researched and developed the original Kundalini Yoga over a period of at least 25+ years in India and designed it for the ordinary person living today (rather than a Yogi living a few thousand years ago; which is the time scale of the classical Yoga literature). However, until recently, most people did not know about Kundalini (and some people did not even know about Yoga), so we generally referred to his system as just Yoga rather than Kundalini Yoga. It is our honour and privilege to be able to bring Swami Ji’s eternal timeless knowledge to everyone who is interested. Would have appreciated more information on the course
This booklet as mentioned in the introduction is clearly a companion piece to the course designed by Swami Dev Murtiji . It mostly describes steps in various asanas and kriyas and is quite to the point. While it's ebook has been released posthumously and publishers have stated that they didn't want to change the content of the original booklet, the change of format should have been considered. For example , all the photographs that are at the beginning of the booklet/ on it's cover etc can be referred to simultaneously while reading the booklet. Kindle form has a limitation that you cant look at the figures simultaneously unless they have been placed exactly on the page where their description was mentioned. All these factors should have been considered . Also would have appreciated if various links to contact yoga center / how to take this course would have been provided.
