Jessica Perkins fought for her friend’s right to love, resulting in a divorce from her selfish, homophobic, cheating husband Toby in the process. The only regret she’s had since that fateful day in Chartreuse, Alabama is the fact she settled for way less than she deserves. Watching Kasen and Rowan’s relationship blossom has her feeling envious and a little sad, but that all changes when a handsome businessman steps into her life while she’s out for a birthday celebration.
Phineas Sharman comes from a hardworking family that owns an established and successful chain of restaurants on the east coast, but he knows better than anyone that money doesn’t make a man. Something has been missing from his life and he realizes exactly what it is when he meets the timid, sweet girl from Alabama.
Jessica has given up on the dream of a happily ever after, but can Phineas prove that everyone finds that legendary true love….eventually?
---------- This book CAN be read as a standalone, but it's better if you have the rest of the story. Chartreuse Eventually Ever After: A Chartreuse Story This Christmas: A Chartreuse Story
T.E. Ridener resides in Southeastern Kentucky with her husband and their furbabies, Cujo (dog) and Christine (cat). She's still writing up a storm, and hopes to complete some of her most beloved series before 2022 comes to an end. Stay tuned!
I was gifted this copy direct fom the author and the opinions here are mine and mine alone.
We met Jessica in Chartreuse, she stood up for Kasen and Rowan and it cost her her marriage. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, her ex husband was abusive. She just wants her own happy ever after, just like Kasen and Rowan have, eventually.
Phineas sees Jessica at her birthday dinner and she looks so sad! \he sets his heart on making her feel better, to make her smile, to make her his.
I loved Chartreuse, I really did and this, Jessica's story, is an equally beautifully written addition to hat series.
Jessica is full of self doubt, she must have done something to make her husband hit her? to make his have an affair? right?? Phineas is a breathe of fresh air, a true gentleman. But he is a scary prospect to Jessica, too. It all comes across too: Jessica's fear, Phin's love: every single emotion these two go through is displayed on these pages. Displayed in such a way that there was no other star rating I could give it but 5.
Some people will, undoubtedly, hate this book. Why?? its a sweet romance. Its got lots of lovey-dovey bits. Lots of those one liners we've come to expect forom Ridener. BUT ME?? I LOVED IT!! Sometimes, you just need a really REALLY nice book and this one here is awesomely nice!
Its a beautifully written (did I say that already??)love story, with some Kasen and Rowan thrown in. Because, I mean, we cannot go to Chartreuse and not have some Kasen and Rowan, now, can we??
Thank you, again, to Ms Ridener, for my copy, you should be very proud, long wait not-withstanding!
5 stars.

So happy to revisit the small town of Chartreuse. I loved that Jessica became a stronger person in this book. After a yr of being divorced from an abusive, homophobic jerk, it seems Jessica just can't bring herself to be happy. When Kasen and Rowan insist on taking her out for her birthday, she meets the gorgeous and wealthy Phinneas (Phin). It takes a lot for Jess to come out of her shell, and it takes someone with patience, understanding, and a selfless undertaking to do it. Through it all, it seems Jess's ex just won't leave her alone, she loses her job, and seemingly she can't catch a break.
The only part that really annoyed me was when Phin's father died and his behavior after. As Jess checks on him, he acts like nothing more than an animal, throwing her on his (late) father's desk and fucking the shit out of her. Some people would find that erotic. I don't. I don't care how 'sad' you are. Using a woman for your sadness is the same as raising a hand to her if you're angry. Jessica liked it though. Ok, fine whatever. BUT it was his douche bag behavior afterward that left a sour note. You don't just fuck a woman like an animal, then turn the cold shoulder and say you're going to have drinks with your family. Her fear came from him yelling, but really it's the using her part that should have upset her, too. He didn't just deserve her ignoring him for a week after. He deserved a punch in the mouth! I was all set to say this is how a man should behave, until this part. Sure, he felt awful, and apologized later, but that behavior is just inexcusable. OK, with this exception, this is how a man should behave...
Kasen and Rowan are obviously part of the book, and while they aren't in the forefront the whole time they definitely play their parts. Kasen especially is a great friend, sticking with Jess through thick and thin. Although I may never see Nutella the same way again (you have to read it to know LOL)
I liked Phin's brother, Dean, and glad he was there to talk sense into his idiot brother, not to mention save him in other ways. Go unsung hero!
p.s. Personal side note. Regardless of Jessica being on birth control, there really should have been some condom usage going on. I'm not a big fan of reading about men "spilling their seed", "releasing inside her" etc.And for two people who don't know each other well, the pill doesn't prevent from an STD. Some people find it erotic and love to say "it's just a book", but not me. I prefer some mutual responsibility- in books as well as in real life.
Within this book are parts that make you sad for some people, b/c there really are people that hate anyone different than they are (whether gay, female, non religious, whatever). Some people have really black hearts, and are willing to kill what they don't understand. I was happy that the villain got what they deserved, I just wish it would happen more in real life.
A gifted copy was given in exchange for an honest review. The author takes us again to Chartreuse to tell us the story of Jessica and Phineas. The book has all the ingredients you can imagine, friendship, loyalty, humor, empathy, and love. It also has bad things as it shows how hatred can destroy people’s minds and turn them so sick they are unable to see straight anymore and become monsters. The author mixes both bad and good things in a way that the result is a really great story. Every time I read a book by T. E. Ridener I just want to jump up and scream of happiness because her stories are totally and absolutely amazing. Her style of writing is refreshing and endless her imagination. She gives her stories so many unpredictable twists you never know what is coming next. I absolutely adore her and her stories.
T.E Ridener has done it again with the third book in the Chartreuse Series. This is how Jessica and Phineas come together.
We are first introduces to Jessica in Chartreuse when she stands up for Kasen and Rowan causing her marriage with fall apart. Jessica and Phineas are then together in This Christmas: A Chartreuse Story. Eventually Ever After shows us the battle the two must go through to be together but that love is always worth fighting for.
