“Hold Me until Midnight” was exactly like all the Brazen books, sweet, fun and sexy. Even the premise or the plot are not very original, the pace of the story was good and overall the story was entertaining.

The story is about a young woman, Scarlett Ashford who needs a date/bodyguard for her father’s wedding. So she wants to hires Jackson, who owns with his two brothers a bodyguard and security business. Jackson seems a little bit dangerous, so he’s exactly what Scarlett needs. But Jackson is reluctant at first to accept this odd job, especially since he knows this woman doesn’t need to hire someone to date her. With her blue eyes and wavy hair she’s beyond gorgeous.

However, he accepts. Even if Jackson is a professional, he has to remind himself more than once Scarlett is off-limits. But things change a little when Scarlett accepts Jackson’s offer to spend ONE night together. But neither of them expected the other to want more hot nights together or to want to spend some time outside the bedroom getting to know each other.

The story was quite enjoyable, but unfortunately nothing was remarkable. Like I mentioned before, the plot wasn't very original or ‘smart’. However the two main character are likeable and the chemistry between them is well done.

Scarlett was very easy to like. Even is her family has money she’s not a spoiled little b*tch. I goes without saying I really appreciated that. She’s a sweet and hardworking girl. She wants to help people and to make a difference and she’s kind-hearted as well. I have to say I enjoyed her character development. Jackson was sweet and sexy and I liked the way he was with Scarlett. I liked the fact we got to know a little about these characters’ past, but I would have liked to know a little more about Jackson’s background.

The dialogue was simple, yet enjoyable and the sex scenes were pretty hot.

This might work for you if you want something sexy, fun and easy to read without a complicated plot or characters.

4 - "I don't kiss ass, babe. I kick it." Stars!

I really enjoyed Hold Me Until Midnight, it is the first book in the Grayson Brother series, and the first I have read by the author.

”The Grayson’s rule… Never fuck clients.”

One thing that stood out from this book for me is that Christina Phillips knows how to write good sex, but also put it into a well developed story at the same time. The chemistry between Scarlett and Jackson was off the charts, and I loved that he took the somewhat abrupt and straight laced character, in Scarlett and turned her into a strong and confident woman, with his laid-back, devil-may-care and sexily arrogant attitude.

Jackson made this book for me, in that although he was a pretty strong character, he and his brothers (Alex & Cooper) have issues from their past that they are still very much trying to work through, as a set-up book for the rest of the series it gives you enough to keep you interested, but it doesn’t overshadow the story that is being told.

”Trust me you have no idea what I can do with my mouth…”
”I wouldn’t mind finding out.”

A really enjoyable read, likeable characters and an easy-going plot kept me interested and entertained until the end, and I hope to see more of the Grayson brothers and their very own brand of witty sarcasm, very soon!

”I may be wearing a suit, but just so you know, I’ve still gone commando.”

This is my first read by this author. I have luke warm feeling toward this book. The story is Scarlett needs a date for her father wedding. Enter bodyguard Jackson. Jackson is doing double duty as bodyguard and a date.

The insta lust ensues. Too much to be believable. I do not feel any chemistry between the characters. The sex scenes are mediocre. The lenght of the story is sufficient for the author to inject some drama or twist into it. But i can not find it.

The plot about the father is too mild. Overall i do not hate nor love this book. Again its a luke warm.

"You want to dance?" ...
"Like Dirty Dancing you mean?" ... His jaw grazed the soft skin of her cheek.
"I can do dirty," he breathed the words against her ear. "I just don't do the dancing." ...
"I can do the dancing." Scarlett's whisper was husky. "Looks like we're evenly matched, Jackson."

The story is typical and not very original. Scarlett is the daughter of a billionaire, a beautiful and modest socialite. Jackson is a middle class, tough and sexy guy who works as a bodyguard. Scarlett hires him to be her date/bodyguard at her dad’s wedding. For Jackson, she is a client and so she’s off-limits. From the moment they meet, he and Scarlett have an explosive chemistry. And it’s almost certain that whatever we keep on resisting, eventually we surrender to it with pathos.

What I enjoyed in this book wasn’t the plot itself. I loved it though for the relationship development, the pleasant dialogues, the narrative’s freshness, the plentiful erotica, the funny moments. I really enjoyed the characters and the way Jackson and Scarlett fell in love despite the obvious financial and social class differences. Their love affair was undermined several times, but at the end love conquered all.

5 stars from me just because I laughed, I had fun, I felt hot, and on turning the last page I felt super satisfied!!

4 ~ Growly Alpha ~ Stars!

I loved this one! Jackson was such a growly alpha! He was cocky, confident, and so sexy. The chemistry was instant, the sexual tension was palpable and the banter was sweet and steamy.

Scarlett was an awesome h, loved her. These two both had their issues and neither was looking for love but they gave each other a chance and loved that they communicated when misunderstandings happened. There was no unnecessary drama and even though it was a short novella, the relationship and the love doesn't instantly happen, they actually get to know each other over weeks and not days.

I enjoyed this so much and was sad to see it end. Highly recommended, especially since it's free (did I mention its FREE?!) for a limited time on the Amazon Kindle.

Safety: H is 26, h is 24, neither are virgins and condoms are always used until they aren't ;) This had a cute epilogue, no cheating, no separation, mild push/pull from the H and does end in a very sweet HEA.

I love Entangled Pub because they always deliver a sexy quick romance with OTT heat. This is a definite hit for me.

Hold Me Until Midnight was one of those enjoyable sweet, sexy reads. Though the plot of the story is not very original, I did however found myself enjoying the relationship dynamics of a socialite falling in love with an average joe. Scarlett Ashford needed a date for her father's wedding and so she hired Jackson Grayson, a bodyguard to be her date. But what she didn't expect was a hot sexual one night stand with Jackson. This one hot night turned out to be something neither Scarlett and Jackson expected or bargained for since something about that night made them addicted to each other. Like so many romance dealing with two complete people from opposites walks of life, they had to find a common ground and proved to themselves that love conquers all.

#HoldMeTonight

So if you are looking for a book where it is dripping with raw sensuality and chemistry, then I would recommend you to give Hold Me Until Midnight a try. The writing and story line was engaging to keep readers entertained as Scarlett and Jackson discovered that their love was the kind of love worth holding onto.

4 Major tongue penetration stars.

Scarlett Ashford is about to attend her father’s wedding, not any wedding though. Only Marshall Ashford, head of the Ashford Communications Media. As a consequence, she feels her future stepmother is intent on finding her the ideal chaperone, and Scarlett has had enough of her match making. Her idea is to hire not only a feasible date, but a bodyguard…and she knows just the firm.

Jackson Grayson finds himself dazed when Scarlett approaches his business. He’s up for what she proposes, but he is severely doubting his cardinal rule.

”Never fuck clients.”

The ensuing chemistry between these two characters was exceptional. From their cheeky dialogue, through to their sensual melding, was enchanting.

I was able to easily adore both characters very quickly. Scarlett for her reluctance to be the stereotypical socialite, and immediate attraction to the Thor like Jackson.

Jackson was a special character, who so wanted to relinquish the chains of his past, but felt slightly insecure about any future with Scarlett given their social and economical diversity. However, he more than made his presence known through his bold one liners, and obvious adoration for Scarlett.

This was my first read from this author, and I will definitely keep an eye out for her in the future. A most enjoyable, engaging read.

I love these brazen books. They are the perfect mindless smut after an angsty book or a NA jag just to get my mind cleared. Although ordinarily they are pretty forgettable this one was awesome.

I seriously am burnt out on the poor naïve virgin and sexy billionaire that seems to be the norm so when I read the blurb for this one I knew I had to read it and I seriously wasn’t disappointed.

And although there was the common as fuck bodyguard theme it was completely different and unique and I Fucking loved it.

Being such a short novel they got straight to the point and then they got straight to the point. And Damn was it hot. I seriously was fanning my self for some of the sex scenes.

I loved Jackson so hard but I have to say Idk if it’s just me or if romance as a whole is changing but it seems like I have been getting some seriously kick ads heroines in my recent reads and I Fucking love it.

Jackson is a naughty boy, "she felt him smile against the soft skin below her ear. “I may be wearing a suit, but just so you know, I’ve still gone commando." He's a romantic guy, "you look great.” He pulled a lily from her hair and brushed the soft petals along her cheek. She wasn’t sure she believed him , but relief tumbled through her all the same. “You look like you’ve just been effed up against a tree." He's so sexy when he's bossy, "get your a** over here.” It was a growled command as he undid his belt." I loved Jackson I enjoyed this book.

3.5 stars. That epilogue was GARBAGE. 🗑️

Safe; no virgins, heroine was a relationship girl, had never had a ONS, and it was implied that she had never given a blowjob before 😶 the hero was all excited that he got to be her first for so many things… 🙄 Hero has had many ONS and FWB (hold the friend) types of relationships only, nothing serious ever for him before the heroine. No OW drama, some OM drama, no scenes with OM/OW, no cheating.

I very much liked the premise of this story; the heroine hiring a date/bodyguard for her father's wedding. And Scarlett and Jackson create quite some heat because from the start, this book is filled with sexy-time.

description

There is more to this couple than the fact they are compatible in bed. Scarlett comes from a wealthy family and is somewhat the socialite, but is grounded with no airs and graces whilst Jackson is the opposite, yes he runs a successful business now, but growing up was tough for him and his two brothers. He has no inclination to settle down but Scarlett unleashes something in him. And he her, because she finds herself being rather honest around him.

"You promised I would scream. And I didn't."

Hold Me Until Midnight is an engaging read and Christina Phillips has created a likeable couple with a great chemistry, who are hot and sexy together yet not without their vulnerabilities. I think there was the opportunity for more in terms of Jackson's past; what we were privy to brought some emotion and it would have been nice to see this developed a little more, but that said there is scope in the future from his brothers. I also had issues with the time-hop and the fact it came from nowhere; It didn't really flow and I had to re-read to make sure I'd not missed something.

But on the whole this is very promising start to the series, Jackson's dynamic with his brothers was great, the foundations have been laid and I will certainly read Alex and Cooper's stories if we're given the chance. Plus I'd like to meet their Gran, who I actually thought would have been a nice inclusion to this story.

Once again, Phillips has crafted an interesting and heated novel. She combines sweet & sexy in a way that tugs at your heart. Phillips also works a number of touchy and heart wrenching subjects into the mix in a way that creates a much deeper tale.

Phillips works hot sex into her faced paced story. She does so in a way that enhances the storyline, highlighting the relationship with the main characters. They were well developed, likeable individuals who had fantastic chemistry between them. I loved getting to know both of them. The shocking differences between their situations in life make it all the more poignant.

This was a hot & sassy novel. Phillips held my attention from cover to cover & has created a world for this series that I will definitely be returning to.

4-1/2 stars.

This review also appears on Pretty Sassy Cool.

This story is basically all hotness. You might think you're tired of the good girl falling for the bad boy, but this genre is popular for a reason. And Hold Me Until Midnight is the perfect example done right.

Scarlett hires Jackson to be her date and bodyguard at her father's wedding. Despite the strict no hooking up with clients rule, Jackson can't resist the draw he feels toward Scarlett. He proposes they give in to one night of passion. Of course, you know what happens--one night isn't enough.

There was a little drama and definitely some meat to this story, but the shining star here was the smut. Yes, I liked Jackson and I didn't hate Scarlett and I wanted them to work it out and I was so happy that Phillips put so much history and chemistry and just bam! into these characters. When they got together, seriously. It was hot.

Damn It's Hot In Here

If you're looking for a fast, sexy read with a forbidden romance and characters you'll love, definitely give Hold Me Until Midnight a try.

The best line: "You promised I would scream. And I didn't."
Phillips delivers again with a great read about Scarlett and Jackson. It's a simple storyline and it really works well. A hero from the wrong side of the tracks and a wealthy heroine. Her family don't want him but the heroine is strong enough to make up her own mind.
I couldn't put it down.

Ok if you are brand new to romance and have never ever read a girl meets bodyguard, needs bodyguard services, has hot monkey sex with bodyguard and falls in love with bodyguard story, this may be really fresh and exciting plot for you. For the rest of us, it’s a very familiar story. This is an exception to the rule that familiarity breeds contempt, however, because this is still an enjoyable book.

Scarlett needs a bodyguard for a seriously dubious reason- like, I completely don’t get it. Jackson happens to be a bodyguard and answers the call. Scarlett is from a wealthy family and Jackson, not so much. Despite the vast distance between their socio-economic status’ they are instantly attracted to one another. They proceed to have what I like to call 4 star sex involving many interesting surfaces (some vertical).

Despite the predictability of the book, I seriously enjoyed the character depiction. Scarlett was interesting and nuanced and not just some rich socialite. She was strong, not overly angsty and funny at times. I particularly liked the fact that Scarlett was fed up with trying to please her emotionally distant Father and was venturing away from the beaten good girl path for the first time. Interestingly, Jackson has his own Daddy issues that have shaped the choices he’s made in life. The parallel between the vastly different fathers the main characters had was well done and added a lot of depth to the relationship in the story.

Jackson was also my kinda alpha male. He grew up in a tough environment and had the battle scars to prove it. As you might expect, he didn’t “do” relationships but instantly wants to destroy any man who looks in Scarlett’s direction.

Aside from the kind of predictable storyline the only other thing that could be a drawback in this book was the family drama…on both sides of the relationship. There was a lot going on in Jackson and Scarlett’s family and sometimes the drama threatened to overshadow the relationship. On the other hand, it alleviated some of the predictability of the plot line and gave the story some depth so it’s not all bad.

In summary: I recommend this book because it is well written, intelligent and funny with some great sex. You might feel a little ho-hum about the plot but hey think of it like a familiar face in a crowd of books.

Scarlett Ashford is a heiress who needs a date to her father’s wedding and not just any date, someone who can protect her from harm. She finds and hires Jackson Grayson to be her date/bodyguard for her dad’s wedding.
Jackson sees Scarlett and immediately there is a insta-chemistry and he is hooked. He wants her but he knows she is not something he can have-for she is a client. Scarlett is smitten with Jackson but knows nothing probably can come of it. There is so much attraction going on that they end up having a one night stand. And that one night stand led to something else between them, to which they did not know where it would be going.
Jackson and Scarlett feel so much for each other but are afraid to confess because they do know know how the other feels for each and do not want to say anything because if the other doesn’t feel the same, then it ends what they have and they have to stop seeing each other. There is so much going on that I could feel how they feel for each other. But they have to stop letting social structure get in the way and realize what they have is real . The two MC in this story are lovely people. Jackson is a definite ALPHA male. He wants to keep the people he loves safe from harm. Then you have Scarlett and she is a sweet woman who is full of fire and backbone yet sassy and sweet.
Hold Me Until Midnight is very engaging and sexy. Sweet and Fulfilling. I couldn’t get enough of the brother Grayson. I loved how Jackson and Scarlett finally realized only they mattered. There were some things I had some trouble with –( for ex something happened one moment and then we were 3 weeks later in the story line ). Other than that, this was a good story and I cannot wait to read more about the brothers and their love lives.
I loved how Scarlett found who she really was inside and that she found her happiness with Jackson. I loved how Jackson let go of his fears and let Scarlett be his happiness and not let money/social structure rule him with love.

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.

My Thoughts:

I've never met an Entangled Brazen book I didn't like... From the start, this book had me reeled in. I couldn't remember the synopsis when I picked this one up, so it was nice to see how it developed without knowing all the details.

Scarlett was the kind of woman who pulls no punches. She knew what she was looking for when she walked into Jackson's office and she made it clear without holding back slightly.

"And kissing? Will that be cheek contact only, a brief touch of the lips, or major tongue penetration?"

Grayson 1, Ashford 0.

"Major tongue penetration might be required. Does your standard fee cover it, or would that incur hazard pay?"

He gave her a slow grin, not bothering to hide his interest. She'd thrown down the gauntlet.

Grayson 1, Ashford 1

While Jackson isn't allowed to do anything with Scarlett since she's a client, the temptation is there, and neither one of them can avoid it when they have to fake a relationship. Once they cross that line, oh boy does it get steamy! Of course, social standing is in the way of their pseudo-relationship. He's middle class, she's wealthy. He doesn't think he'll ever be the kind of man she would choose in the end.

Hold Me Until Midnight was entertaining, sweet, and sexy. The dynamic between Jackson and Scarlett is hot--not just physically, but also in every other aspect. There's no denying the depth of their feelings. I enjoyed Scarlett's determination to get what she wants. There should be more female characters like her out there! Christina Phillips really brought it with this story.

My Rating: Very Good

This was a very nice and at times pretty steamy read. Jackson was a seriously hot, security expert hired to offer protection during a society wedding to Scarlett, the groom’s adult daughter and heiress to his media empire.

But it turns out it’s not the “usual” protection that Scarlett needs (as in bodyguard) but a hot, intimidating and irreverent date who could put her brand-new-step-mother’s cousin in place… as being told repeatedly that she isn’t interested in him is apparently not getting through to the deuche.

Unexpectedly and inconveniently attracted to each other, they decide to share a night of passion… something Scarlett has never done before, but something that Jackson is well used to.

But he will soon realize that Scarlett is not like every other woman, and not even close to how he expected her to be, and is reluctant to let her go. And this is where they decide to have a let’s-have-fun-while-it-last affair… that may well turn into nothing or happily ever after… if the people that keep getting in the way will only let it.

I have to say that Scarlett’s apparent spinelessness was not my favorite part of the book… not even close. I get being nice, polite and not wanting to cause a scene, or upset a loved one, but really! Woman if a guy doesn’t get the hint by the third time you tell him, in no uncertain terms to leave you alone, you knee him. Don’t just think about it.

Jackson had a bit of I-have-asshole-genes-from-my-daddy-so-I’m-not-good-for-anyone-least-of-all-you-as-a-boyfriend issues… and I’m not much of a fun of that either.

Still, I really enjoyed the story, the writing was fluent and well paced, their chemistry was hot and I’m surely going to be reading more from Ms. Phillips.

Hold Me Until Midnight  by Christina PhillipsMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Entangled is synopsis for steamy entertainment. In a nutshell Hold Me until Midnight fits all that criteria. Alpha male meets an equally take charge female who recruits him as her date/bodyguard for a family wedding. Neither expects that their flirty, tension filled relationship will end up flaming out of control. DUH!!!. Very sensual, highly entertaining but not very original. The premise of Hold Me Until Midnight had all the makings of being a really really good story. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it’s the first book in a new series about three brothers. Thus, when I got the book, I was excited to read it.

Unfortunately, I had some issues with the story. I like the characters of Scarlett Ashford and Jackson Grayson. Scarlett is more than the stuck up society girl the world sees. But I’m a little tired of the high society girl slumming it with the lower class guy storyline. And while I liked Jackson, halfway through the book, I still didn’t really know anything about him, his company, or what the company truly did.

Domestic violence plays a role in this book. Not with the main characters, but with their backstories. There is a scene that borders on domestic violence which society may not view that way but it is. I think the author and the publisher for that matter has failed to truly show that it’s not acceptable. I think it would have been appropriate to have information about getting help at the end of the book.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one as I’ve had mixed results with the Entangled: Brazen line of novels. The chemistry between these two was fantastic and I really enjoyed watching the sparks fly. I loved Scarlett and how real and genuine she is. She might have grown up in a life of privilege but she gives back, treats everyone with respect, and has a quiet dignity. Her compassion toward Jackson’s past was really sweet and she never doubts that she and Jackson are meant for each other regardless of their different lifestyles.

Jackson was a perfect growly, alpha male who can take charge but also respect the woman he’s with. For me, he’s just the right amount of alpha without being overbearing. He’s initially just in lust with Scarlett but slowly his feelings change the more he spends with her, especially when he begins to see the real Scarlett. There were a few times where Jackson thinks about something that used to annoy him but it doesn’t with Scarlett. It happens a few times and it’s just a small pet peeve for me in romance novels. Obviously when feelings are involved you feel differently about things but some of them were really early in their time together and seemed out of character for a guy who’s used to one night stands and keeping people at a distance.

This is exactly what I was looking for: sexy, easy read, low angst, low drama quotient. Probably wouldn’t be classified as a “classic” but sometimes you just want a fun, sexy read that doesn’t tax your mind.

HEA:

Standalone: Yes although this is the first in the Grayson brothers series. Can’t wait for Cooper’s story.

Scarlett, minus her interaction with the family friend (stand up for yourself, Scarlett!), is down to earth, sexy, and smart. Jackson is loyal and too sexy for words. A little on the rough side but Christina Phillips helps you understand why Scarlett wants him again and again. There is definitely attraction and sizzle between these two.

There were the typical communication pitfalls which are romance staples. Thankfully they weren't blown out of proportion or dragged out. They both went out on a limb emotionally here and there. Sometimes baby steps but they still ventured out. I liked that it wasn't always Scarlett or always Jackson.

What initially appealed to me about this book was the troupe of someone posing as a boyfriend for a wedding date. Scarlett hires Jackson to pose as her boyfriend while attending her father's wedding. Jackson doesn't get involved with clients but when Scarlett offers just one night together it's impossible to resist. I really liked Jackson and Scarlett together, their sexy factor as a couple was off the charts but the family drama from both sides kind of put a wet blanket feel over the whole story. At the beginning everything came together so quickly I would have liked more build-up.

I received this from Netgalley/ Entangled publishing in exchange for an honest review. This was a really good read. I laughed and just could not out it down. I just needed the main girl character to be a little stronger. She just let to many people walk all over her. Other than that this was a great read. It has a good mix of steam and an actual story.
