How can something so wrong be so perfect at the same time? Rule #5 – I'm going to show you some things that you'll never forget. It's wrong. Not just this, but everything. I knew it was wrong, but I thought I could get away with it. Why, though? I'm not like this. I'm good. I'm the good girl, the girl with perfect grades, the girl who does everything right, prim and proper. I don't cause trouble, I don't get into trouble, I don't... It's only a few days, right? That's what I thought when Ethan and I started our stepbrother with benefits situation. Apparently a few days can be a long time. A few days can change your entire life.

New Under Things and Exes

Ethan's arrogance continues to find a home but I also appreciate his honesty - with himself and Ashley.

It turns out that their parents unexpected return hasn't quelled their needs. It's hot and a dangerous game! 🔥💥🔥 Of course, one blunder creates a new rabbit hole. One that is worrying and potentially very, very bad.

I listened to an author's copy of the audio book with CJ Bloom and James Cavenaugh leading the charge. Both are well suited for the characters. If there was one thing I could change, it'd be that the characters maintained their voices throughout each chapter. ❤️ Second thing I might change would be Ashley's mom's voice. It sounds more grandmotherly than a woman likely in her 40s.

I knew they wouldn’t be able to stay away from each other (I mean, there are like 15 more books), but also—girl, what are you doing? No, no, no. Bad. No. I’m a little worried we’re heading straight into a miscommunication trope, which I really can’t stand, but let’s be real—I’m already addicted to this series, so I’m absolutely keeping going!

***A gifted copy was provided by the author for an honest review***

This story picks right up where book 4 left off with no recap.
OMG! The twists and turns in this story keeps the reader on the end of their seat AND there is a villain in this story now…I will not say their name BUT just think of who would want to hurt Ashley and ruin this relationship and you will know who it is.

This is so far my favorite installment in this series. Ethan gets his head out of his rear end and the couple is back on track. Everything is looking great and the couple is going to sneak away when lo and behold the villain strikes --While Ethan is taking a shower Ashley decides to send Ethan a sexy text along with a naked picture. She gets an answer back right away which doesn’t make sense since Ethan is in the shower. The drama really begins now and you really need to read what happens to find out what’s going on. I am so looking forward to the final story in this series to find out how everything works out.

This was by far one of the best of the series. Everything looked to be going well when the twists and turns occurred and I was on the end of my seat. It seemed my favorite couple cant catch a break. I really want my couple to get their HEA and now I don’t know if that will happen. Ms. Clark has a great story/series going and I am so hooked that I have to know how things work out for my favorite couple .The final story is due to be out shortly so not long to wait.

My Rating: 4.9 stars *****

Wow! Just when i thought everything was going to work out between Ashley and Ethan, Jake happens! F#%kin' Jake! Grr... I hope that douche dies a miserable and tragic death in the story. I cant believe how much i despise him! Every time he cursed at Ashley i gripped my laptop tighter and tighter. My anger got the best of me at times, especially when called her a b*tch. The story gets 5 mind-blowing-stars! *****

This is the weakest one of the series so far. I feel like Ashely is constantly initiating the same conversation over and over again. I get she still want some to be friends once they’re done hooking up, but does she really need to ask for reassurance from Ethan about if every 3 pages? Also, I’m not a fan of this new plot where Ashley send all those nudes to Jake, and blackmailing her into sex for a weekend, because it’s really just so disgusting that Ashley and Ethan are hooking up. It’s not like they’re related, it’s really not a big deal. But the fact that Ashley keeps referring to Ethan as “brother” (especially in the dirty texts) is a bit odd to me

Had a beautiful review typed up on my phone and for some reason when I hit ‘save’ it deleted it!! Wtf, never again on my phone!!! Here we go again, I know I’ll be forgetting some stuff…

First of all…. phew *fans face* HOOOOOTTTTTT!!! Not gonna lie, the best thing about these novellas were Ashley and Colton’s sex scenes, they burnt up the pages!! Colton was a very dominant (though, not in a BDSM-y way), take charge guy who knew what he wanted and went out and took it- literally!! Ashley was a little shy, but was curious and willing to try new things sexually, which Colton was all but happy to show her. While they didn’t get too crazy, wild, out-of-the-box in these first 6 installments, there was talk that promised we’ll see a lot more variety, in future novellas.

Colton was, by his own admission, an asshole and a prick. He was constantly calling himself a prick, cocky, asshole and bad-boy, saying that he’s no good for Ashley… well, get over yourself, kid! If you want this girl and you know that you are no good for her, well then fucking CHANGE SOMETHING!?! I have no time for someone with this kind of insecurity. I didn’t like that he swore waaaaayyy too much and used crude language often unnecessarily. He did soften towards Ashley eventually- ok, almost immediately- even if he didn’t want to admit it to himself!

Ashley was sorely lacking in competent lovers before Colton, the poor girl. She was curious and open to doing new things sexually and Colton was more than happy to show her the ropes. She was a little more touchy-feely than I think Colton was prepared for, “forcing” him to cuddle- the horrors!! She wore him down, though, and in the end he grew to want to cuddle, lol. As far as her character goes… we don’t get a lot of personality from her. She’s supposedly a good-y two shoes and a smart girl, but it’s kind of hard to see that when she’s getting down and dirty with her step-brother, lol. She was about to do a very stupid thing, though, at the end with Jake… how could she think that was going to work!? Basically she was

The thing I hated most about this book was how the author made the characters talk directly to the reader. There was a lot of don’t judge us, we’re only step-siblings so it’s ok, whinny nonsense. Colton was particularly fond of telling us that it’s none of our business, wouldn’t you like to know, “fuck you,” and lots of putting himself down. It’s not ok with me when all of a sudden the characters decide to “break the fourth wall,” so to speak, and speak directly to the reader and it happened at least at the beginning of every chapter and then interspersed throughout. You… yeah, you reading this right now. What the hell?! Why are you even reading this review, I’m nothing but a shitty writer who gives no fucking literary critique whatsoever, so you shouldn’t take me seriously. You don’t like it, well fuck you! ..... Annoying, huh? Yeah, it was a little like that right there (language and all- my apologies on that, btw, but I wanted to get my point across).

These were a couple great reads so far; although it was kind of lacking as far any deeper plot, I loved to see Ashley and Colton grow closer- not to mention their steamy scenes!! ;) I’m going to continue this series, but have some others that I am interested in reading first.

I love these two so much. This is by far my favorite in the series to date. Ethan and Ashley are put to the test. Are they able to sneak away and see each other? Is this right or wrong? They are both so twisted up in their feelings for each other, and then Ashley does what she does waiting for Ethan. I can't wait to see what Mia does to bring these two through!

- FMC: Ashley
- MMC: Ethan
- POVs Included: Dual POVs (Ashley, Ethan)

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

After Ethan and Ashley's parents have returned, things between them are tense. Ethan tries pushing Ashley away. But they decide to come back together and find a way to finish their agreed upon week of stepbrother with benefits.

Things are looking better between them, until Ashley accidentally sends a sext meant for Ethan to her ex -- a very detailed text about what she wants to do with her stepbrother with pictures. Now Ashley is freaking out because her ex is blackmailing her with the information.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
REVIEW:

Gah! This one was stressful to me. So many tense emotions going on. Made me really miss their week alone.

Just when things are looking up again and they start to kiss and make up (behind closed doors, of course), this whole text thing happens. For such a "smart" girl, Ashley is really dumb to accidentally send that text to her ex. If you're sending a text that risky, you are bound to check and double check who you're sending it to. I'm not buying that she would accidentally send that to him of all people.

I don't know how she is going to get out of it but I sure hope she talks to Ethan about it. She can't keep this to herself. It's not going to go well.

Overall this was definitely more angsty than the previous books so far. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I'm here to find out what happens next.

Book five was for sure a rollercoaster!

This time around we have a very different set up for Ashley and Ethan. Their parents are back home early and its time to put an end to what has been happening between them recently. We go straight into where we left off in book four as the two characters avoid being caught despite a very close call and far fetched scene and go off separately to spend time with their parent. We see Ethan having some bonding time with his father and Ashley shopping with her mum including picking up new underwear... Ashley is honest about her recent break up but when discussing moving on and heartbreak it's not about the boy her mother things she is talking about. It was nice seeing a little more of these characters away from one another and given the reminder of who they are especially for Ashley.

These two of course could not stay away from one another throughout this book despite the risks and their agreement and I did enjoy their romantic and intimate scenes.

The book took a slightly darker turn with the return of Ashley's ex boyfriend and the scenes there while I felt were important for the story felt rushed. The mean and horrible words from her ex hit but just felt over the top and rushed with a deliberate focus on trying to remind the reader he was a bad person without much really going into it to make it feel real. However, this turn in the book was a fresh direction and has me anticipating what on earth is going to go down in book six and how Ashley will get out of this situation she is now in.

Ashley and Ethan start things up again but then things get really bad for Ashley with the help of Jake (the jerk). Afraid to tell anyone, Ashley lets the family assume she's sick while she tries to figure out her situation.

General note:
Ethan is crass and vulgar. He has a predilection for using the f-bomb and talking dirty. If this offends you, this is probably not the series for you. This being said, he also has a sweetness to him he does well to hide but for with Ashley.

Ashley is intelligent and spreading her sexual wings, so to speak. She's still not sure she's doing the right thing, but it feels so good. Plus, she may have just fallen in love with her stepbrother...

One thing that's really stood about about this series is how directly Ethan talks to the reader as if in a conversation and/or reacting to them. I'm not sure I exactly like this approach to writing, but it hasn't put me off either. Prepare to be sworn at repeatedly and told to mind your own f**king business. Ashley doesn't do this so much. She's technically talking to the reader as well, but it doesn't feel like it so much. It's not in your face like with Ethan. It's not so much her interacting with the reader as it is a narrative. I tend to like this approach more, but I love reading Ethan's chapters and finding out what's going on in his head.

"I don't usually say this shit, Princess, but since you're my stepsister, I'll make an exception. You're beautiful everywhere. You're pretty as fuck, cute, and a lot of fun. Not just sex fun, either. You're the entire fucking package." -Ethan

Okay, I have to say...Ethan is kind of growing on me. Ashley too.

This book was a little different from the others...shit went down. For lack of spoilers, I won't say exactly what happened but what I will say is, Ashley's ex is an ass and if Ethan knew what he did, what he's doing, what he's planning to do, and threatening to do...he would probably hurt him pretty badly. Which kind of shocks me as to why Ashley doesn't just tell him.

But I mean...I kind of understand. She feels like she did something stupid and Ethan might hate her for it but that's just...not possible. Ethan could never.

In fact, the opposite. He loves the fuck out of her. That much is obvious.

So...Ethan and Ashley decided to resume their "stepbrothers with benefits" relationship until the week is over.

I have a feeling and a hope that it will last longer than that and I know I will be finding out pretty soon, considering the next book is the conclusion to the first series.

Please have a happy ending. And Ethan, please beat Jake's ass. Pretty please.

Ashley and Ethan – 5

With their parents arriving home unexpectedly early, Ashley is agonizing over the whole situation she and Ethan have gotten themselves into. She feels like everything is wrong and so out of character for her. Regardless, they eventually decide to go ahead and finish their week of exploration secretly because neither wants to stay away from the other.

When Ashley makes a mistake that lets her ex Jake find out more than he should, he can’t resist the chance to blackmail her. Because she feels even more guilt for messing things up, she attempts to get Ethan away from her. Will she obey Jake’s plans to control her life? Or will she share with Ethan what happened and try to fix things together?

The Audible version was narrated by: CJ Bloom and James Cavenaugh. They continue to do a good job and bring life into the story as they take on the personalities of the main characters. This is certainly an emotional ride for the listener, but the story will carry you forward into wanting to keep hearing their story.

Like an episode of a TV series episode 5 (part 5)

I liked this slice of life. It was entertaining and enjoyable even though it's more like an episode of a TV show than a book. A book to me has a distinct beginning, middle, and end while this book just stopped. The characters were interesting and you got to hear from both of them. Ethan and Ashley's agreement was reinstated. Unfortunately, a mistake allows someone other than Ethan and Ashley to know what they had been up to. Ashley wasn't sure how to deal with the situation and the possible consequences. Ethan tried to take care of Ashley.

I thought the story was interesting but I wanted more. The narrators did an excellent job, especially because of the way the story is written, it's as if the characters were talking directly to you as the listener (or reader). It's smutty and short but good. I recommend listening to this audiobook (or reading the ebook).

This is the fifth book in the series and as they are like little episodes, I highly recommend reading the previous ones before this as they pick up pretty much right where the last one left off. We are back with Ashley and Ethan and they are picking back up on the sexy times. Their parents might be back but they can't seem to stay away from each other. They know that there is more between them and can't seem to stop things early and are still in denial about how deep the feelings go but they are getting closer and closer to not being able to continue to deny them. They are getting to know each other better and getting a better insight into events and feelings from their past and getting closer every time. This story was hot, explicit and entertaining. It is a quick listen. It will be interesting to see where things go next with these two and how they figure it out.

This is book 5 in Clark's Stepbrother with Benefits series - while the first couple of books could be done as stand alone, as this storyline progresses and characters are further developed it's more pertinent to read / listen to these in series order. The storyline continues with Ethan and Ashley as Ethan is confronted with his attitude and actions with those he cares about and Ashley makes a mistake that has her spiraling. Looking forward to seeing what will happen next with these two! I love, love, love this dual narration which really does this book and these characters justice. Short, well done, steamy read / listen that keeps sucking you in and leaving you wanting more!

Pretty good

I started listening to this series on audible. And enjoyed it but stopped for some reason. I think because the parents got home. Now after a few years I found the actual book is on KU. And I liked it.

Now I do like Ethan because he is constantly pushing Ashley out of her comfort zone. Which is good. I’m a bit frustrated with Ashley because she is allowing her ex Jake to dictate her life. I would have definitely been like so what you got to do bruh because your not using me like no sex doll. I hope she tells Ethan what’s going on in book 6.

Ethan starts being a jerk again! It’s like he’s afraid to face Ashley and face his true feelings for her. But what happens when Ashley sends a very suggestive text to the wrong person? Ashley starts to doubt everything and starts to panic. When she is blackmailed, what will she do? Even though the parents are home, these 2 are still getting down and dirty. Ethan seems to be going a little soft and can’t seem to stay away from Ashley. Everything is still HOT, HOT, HOT! Oops! Just as things seemed to moving along smoothly with Ashley & Ethan a simple mistake which many of us have likely made, though not on the same scale hopefully) puts everything in jeopardy. A malicious adversary reappears. While some might not like the "breaking the 4th wall" way that the characters address the readers at times, I think it works well and gives more insight into their inner feelings, Ethan's in particular. Well written and expertly narrated.

I've been listening to the audio version of this book, and loving every minute. Ethan and Ashley are adjusting to the new normal of their parents being back at home. But Jake, her ex, is back, and intent on causing trouble for her. Narrators CJ Bloom and James Cavenaugh are perfect for the roles they're playing, and I love how Ethan talks to the reader. Great benefits!

I really like the tabooish stepbrother/ stepsister stories, so needless to say I really liked this one too. It's a series of short stories that males up one whole. So yeah, you have to but them all, preferably at once. Because if you're anything like me, you'll go through them really fast.

Jake needs to get his karma back

It’s so bad how the good people always gets the bad end if the stick. Jake is just a prick that is just after one thing and after he gets it he’s going to say forget her again. I hope Ethan kicks his but and fixes to where he cant hurt her ever again and makes his life hell

With Mom & Dad back at home, Ashley & Ethan find themselves sneaking around. Which, of course, only adds to the excitement. Unfortunately, another threat comes into play. With a drawn out story like this, I expected there to be some twists and turns along the way. I only hope my shouting at Ashley knocked some sense into her and she’ll do the right thing.
