What’s an alpha to do when he’s found his fated mate, but she reacts to the news by kicking him in the balls?
Gretchen Halbmond became a diehard Daddy’s girl the day her mother ran out on them both. She doesn’t believe in love and isn’t looking for it, but when her ailing father is attacked and left bloody by wolves on the wrong side of the law, she goes out in search of what she does believe in: Justice.
Sheriff Talon Garde has way too much on his plate. Humans have breached shifters' carefully guarded privacy and are about to go public. If he can’t stop them, what happened to Gretchen’s father is going to be the least of everyone’s worries.
More importantly, despite Talon’s rep as a bad ass alpha whose growl strikes fear in the hearts of criminals, Gretchen’s scent makes him go all squishy inside. She’s THE ONE, he’s sure of it. There’s just that small matter of convincing Gretchen it’s pointless to fight fate…and surviving the way she fights it.
Standalone novel with NO cliffhanger.
SNIPPET
"What was that?” She pushed at Talon’s shoulders, trying to get him to pay attention.
“Huh? What was what?” He mumbled the words into her breast and then swallowed more of her nipple, his tongue going back and forth over the tip.
“Talon,” she said, fighting not to succumb to the delicious sensations Talon had stirred in her body.
“Yeah, say that again,” He said, his voice thick with lust. He’d given up on her belt and was now trying to cram his hand down her pants.
An animal chuffed in the dark, the sound as derisive as a human snort. The hair on the back of Gretchen’s neck stood up and a shiver crept up her spine. There was no mistaking that sound. A shifter was out there, watching them and thinking it was funny.
“Come on, Sheriff.” Not knowing what else to do, Gretchen whacked Talon on the head.
He winced and ducked. “Ow. Why do you keep hitting me?”
“Because when there’s no blood in your brain, it stops working. I’m just giving you a little kick start, so pay attention. Please.”

Gretchen Halbmond didn’t believe in mating. Her mother left both, her father and her when she was a child. They had been hurt so much that she didn’t want a mate. She loved her father and when he was attacked by a stray she came home to take care of him. She was threatened by the stray and she went looking for help to deal with that. Sheriff Talon Garde job was to deal with the strays and when he smelled and met Gretchen he knew she was his mate. Now, he needed to help her in order to gain her trust and accept him. This book was fast paced and packed with action and lots emotions. Personal issues between the characters. There was sex but the alpha sheriff had to work hard to get his mate. Some twists in the story made me think about the choices to deal with difficult situations. The vampire characters are an example of this. They presents the right or wrong in this situations. Sheriff Garde character was very well defined and his reasoning was clear and to the point. Liked the way the author developed the characters, the plot and how the story flowed making an interesting and thoughtful story. Received the ARC for an honest review
This was a sweet shifter romance. I really liked that the heroine was skeptical of the whole "mate" thing therefore she didn't immediately fall into the arms of her intended. I also liked the writing style. I'll definitely check out more of this series.
Here is the basic summary of this book. Warning, this contains spoilers.
In the beginning of the book, our heroine needs to seek out help from the "hero" (and I use this term in the literary sense only, because this jackass is certainly no one's idea of a hero.) Within moments of meeting, he decides they are mates and pretty much attacks her. She says an unequivocal NO and tries to push him away, so he traps her in a corner, restrains her hands, forces himself on her, and continues to molest her. She keeps saying NO and tries to get him to stop, even going so far as to bite him and knee him where the sun don't shine, and he still won't relent. He actually tells her that since they are mates, he can do whatever he wants to her and she doesn't have the right to say no. SERIOUSLY? This is the guy we are supposed to root for? I wanted him to get hit by a truck!SEXUAL ASSAULT IS NOT ROMANTIC!!!
I have to admit after that scene, I skimmed most of the rest of the book. Unfortunately, his behavior only deteriorates. He tells her if she wants his help to save her father's life (which is also his job as Sheriff by the way, so he should be doing that anyway,) then she must first agree to help him with a case he is working first, and she owes him several kisses. He takes several more opportunities to sexually assault her further, kissing her and feeling her up against her will. There are several more scenes like this over the next few chapters. You get the gist.
Cut to the climax of the book. She is kidnapped, beaten, shot, tazed, stabbed, and molested by someone who wouldn't even have known about her if our "hero" hadn't dragged her into one of his open cases and made a spectacle of her earlier in the book. He is responsible for her being in this position in the first place, but by the time he finally shows up to clean up his mess and eventually gets around to rescuing her, the only thought in her empty little head is "Please fuck me now." She does a complete 180 and decided to abandon all of her beliefs, when she previously hadn't had any positive thoughts about the guy except that he was attractive, and it made no sense at all.
I am pissed I spent an hour of my life reading this crap that I can't get back.

"Welcome to the wild side, little girl. You've got no pack, no one to care if you live or die and no place to call home. This is where hopes and dreams die long before your body is done."
Gretchen, a werrewolf shifter, goes in search for justice after her precious father is threatened and left beaten almost to death. She is at a turning point in her life where she has to choose her career or her pack. She has completed her schooling and wants to peruse a career in catering. Happy to be living separately from her pack as she staunchly believes that fated mates are things of dreams and make believe after her own mother abandoned her. Yet upon receiving the news that her Father has been a victim of a serious crime she returns home and as her sense of pack and duty drive her, setting her on a collision course with Fate.
Her own pack Alpha and town Sheriff call upon the help of another Alpha Sherriff who helps to control the strays; lone shifters that are shunned by their packs for criminal dealings. Talon immediately recognises the scent of his mate and goes on overdrive making no secret he wants to claim her. He has no issue with the mating bond and doesn't understand her rebuttal. He thinks he may be a victim of a grand scheme set up by the strays so he tests her integrity by taking her on a job.
Weave in an over zealous human who believes in things that go bump in the night and this story has many layers of drama, intrigue and suspense. The pace is fast and makes for an non stop thrill ride of a shifter read. Can instinct over rule her broken heart? Can Talon restrain his wolf nature to woo his mate and overcome her fears? Can they untangle themselves from the shady world of strays and humans that are plotting against them?

When Gretchen Halbmond was on the cusp of making her ream come true, she received a call that changed her course. Her father had been beaten up by a stray shifter and needed her help. When the bully calls for for a payoff for the next day, Gretchen believes she needs to act fast.
Sheriff Talon Garde is in charge of the strays. The shifters that were cast out for doing a crime. They have two paths they can walk, get their act clean and make a life for themselves or get the three strikes rule. When Gretchen storms into his office though all hell breaks loose. Talon quickly realizes that Gretchen is his mat and when he acts on it she knees him in the nuts. Gretchen has no intention of mating and the sooner Talon realizes it the sooner they can focus on helping her dad.
Had some really funny moments. Fast paced and Talon was pure alpha. Liked the dynamics in the story had a refreshing take on shifters.
What's a wolf going to do when his fated mate doesn't believe in fated mates?
Fight like hell for her that's what and that's exactly what Sheriff Talon Garde has to do to win Gretchen. At the same time he has to find those Rogues and put an end to their evil ways.
Gretchen is dead set on the belief that fated mates just does not exist because her mother walked out on her father and her when she was just a child. She fights Talon left and right on that point too, what she hadn't counted on was her inner wolf fighting along side that darn sexy as heck Sheriff. And he wants to use her as bait, who needs cooking right?
A story filled with lots of action fun as Talon fights to keep the wild strays in line and Gretchen too.
I received this as an ARC for an honest review. Now I may or may not post spoilers so read on if you dare!
This book was action packed, full length novel. Which does lead to the next book in the set! It was well placed had me cheering for both the sheriff and the young lady. From the head bashing to the kicking in the balls was so full of attraction.
I can not say JUST how much I enjoyed this book as I was reading it. I could not put it down till I finished it. From the weird Jeb, to Jeb getting his just rewards!
If you are looking for a action packed, full of sexual attraction with the girl fighting it every step of the way then this book is for you!
I fell in love with the characters in this book, Gretchen especially. She is funny, headstrong, loving, and protective of her father. All she wants to do is cook and take care of her dad, then she meets Talon after a tragic event and things start to heat up whether she wants it to or not. Talon is also funny, but he is very set in his ways and following the law until Gretchen comes barging through his doors. He agrees to help her, but he wants things in return from her never expecting fate to get involved. Things go from crazy to hot throughout this whole story. Michelle Fox as always kept me at the edge of my chair wanting more.
Gretchen is out to find out who exactly beat up her father and no one is going to stop her, not even drop dead sexy Talon, the sheriff of the stray shifters in the area. Talon calls to her wolf, but Gretchen does not believe in mating after what happened with her parents. Can Talon convince her that their love is meant to be, and find out what is happening with her father? I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Michelle Fox will grab & drag you into this storyline right from the beginning. Sheriff Talon has his hands full with renegade lone wolves, fanatical humans about to blow the cover on shifterdom and a mate who refuses to believe in what she’s feeling. Our heroine Gretchen doesn’t believe in the “fairy tale” mates-are-forever line she was raised with. All she wants to do is cook and has been going to school & working in the human world happily; until she has to return to the pack due to violence & threats of more violence against her father. What ensues is a roller-coaster of suspense, budding romance, action, humor and well-written surprises. I give a huge shout-out for books in a series (I love having familiar characters around like family) that are stand-alone reads like this! It’s such a satisfying feeling to (figuratively) close a book and have the contentment of HEA wash over you. There is no waiting for the warm n fuzzies in The Alpha’s Justice, just very well written non-stop action with plenty of simmering sexual tension, humor & who-done-its. Michelle Fox is a definite “go-to” author. Favorite lines from book: He winced and ducked. "Ow. Why do you keep hitting me?" "Because when there's no blood in your brain, it stops working. I'm just giving you a little kick-start, so pay attention. Please."
While hunting down bad guys, Sheriff Talon Garde finds his mate, but Gretchen Halbmond is fighting him tooth and claw in this mesmerizing paranormal romance.
Strong captivating characters demands the reader’s attention with lots of flying sparks, fiery passion and kicks to the balls and the reader can’t help but get caught up in this intense romance as Gretchen insists that there is no such thing as mates at first sight and she’s not looking for a relationship of any kind. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge with lots of suspense, action and passion while the sizzling encounters ensure that the readers want more.
There is never a dull moment as tension and excitement build throughout the story with escalating danger and from a couple of bad guys (one that was grossly underestimated) and from Gretchen herself because when she says no, the sheriff better listen. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the story to life while the well-orchestrated events draw the reader in and refuse to let go.
I have to say that Gretchen is a spitfire and a half but she has met her match with the sexy sheriff, which makes for a very spicy and passionate read and I can’t wait to visit Huntsville again.
I received this book as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
First, let me say I love shifter books and so far, Ms. Fox has not disappointed me. Her characters are strong and her storyline is always captivating, with more depth than just a bunch of heavy breathing. Although there is some of that here, thank goodness.
Gretchen is just ending a job interview when she gets a text that her dad's in trouble. She's hours away so she high tails it back to her hometown.
She finds him injured and in trouble he doesn't even remember getting into, and now she's being threatened.
Since her alpha and the sheriff aren't moving fast enough, she takes matters into her own hands and finds herself involved in some serious shifter drama.
Her only hope is another sheriff named Talon who is convinced he's found his mate in spite of her determination to reject his attentions.
All she wants is to find out who attacked her father and why. She doesn't believe in "fated mates" but Talon won't take no for an answer.
I couldn't stop reading! I highly recommend to all shifter romance lovers out there!
Gretchen is on her way back to her Huntsville Pack to take care of her father after he was beat up pretty badly. She doesn't understand why someone would want to hurt him, she is going to protect the only family she has left after her mother walked out on them she was young. After digging through her fathers papers she comes a cross some interesting information. Gretchen meets Sheriff Talon Garde to help her father in the situation he's in. When Talon meets Gretchen first thing that comes to his mind is mate. Gretchen doesn't want a mate now he's has to solve this case while trying to convince Gretchen they are fated mates. They end up finding more trouble than want and will they make out alive or will this be the end of their lives?
It's hard to redeem the male love interest when he disregards the female's "No" on first meeting and proceeds to deep kiss, manhandle and detain said female. To his mind, because he's her mate, it's OK to be a neanderthal jerk and use and abuse her. Never mind what she thinks or says. It isn't 'til two thirds of the way through the book that this knuckle dragging, mouth breathing twerp decides he should change tactics and maybe ask her out on a date. This is what passes for romance? Authors, get a clue. Dubious consent and non-consent are not sexy, not romantic and not fun to read. I can't believe the amount of 4 and five star reviews for this book. I won't be reading any more of this author's work.
I like that Michelle Fox's books aren't your typical shifter romance type books. This one was no exception. Once I started it I couldn't put it down and the story took quite a few turns I wasn't expecting. This is definitely one I recommend - especially if you want to get drawn into a story.
This is the first novel I have read by this author and I loved it! I thought it had an interesting plot and loved the two main characters. I plan to read the author's other books in the future.
Gretchen is a wolf shifter and doesn't believe in fated mates or wants one. Her Dad is in trouble and she goes to meet with Talon who is the sheriff where it appears her father got into trouble. Talon realizes Gretchen is his fated mate. Gretchen wants no part of it. She is terrorized and there are some surprising things happening. Great book. Loved it and couldn't put it down.
I really liked this instalment because there was more humour in it . Talon is a great alpha and he is fair to the strays working with him so even if it's not official it's really kind of a pack and they care for each others. Gretchen is a determined woman....very determined and she isn't afraid to give punch to Talon dismay ....
The story is great with good twists and the touch of romance needed. I loved how Talon gave Gretchen time too
I was really enjoying this book - but the ending really didn’t sit well with me. The heroine is kidnapped, tortured, and sexually assaulted - and then rescued by the Hero and they immediately have sex. No one else found that off putting or unrealistic that the heroine would want to have sex so soon - or have the hero go down on her - when the villain had just forcefully fingered her!??
Well anyway it bothered me and basically ruined the end of the book for me.
Whilst I enjoyed this book and the storyline was interesting, it really didn’t do anything for me and really was outside the Huntsville pack. Only have Cal, Chloe and Jackson in it a little bit. Interesting concept thing with the strays though, hope we get more about them. Did find it funny a wolf not believing in fated mates.
Omg! The Alpha's Justice is a fantastic must read in PNR that kept me on the edge of my seat not wanting to stop! This 2nd book by Ms. Fox is another even better than the previous one :D A different plot, great characters & twists and turns will keep readers engaged, and always the smoking romance :) I highly recommend this to adult fans of fiction and can't wait for more!
Talon is sure that Gretchen is his fated mate but convincing her that she is will be tricky as she doesn't believe in love. Ever since her mother left her as a baby with her dad Gretchen is convinced love is for fools. Danger however stalks her. Can Talon protect her and prove that they are meant to be together. I would highly recommend this book.
The only woman he did want kept trying to flatten his balls into pancakes. HOWLY HOTNESS WOLFMAN!!! Ya, okay, that was kinda lame play on words, but this story is anything but!!! I planned on reading for a few minutes to pass some time except I couldn't stop until I had to because I ran out of story to read!!! This is the exact kind of book I love to read! Well, excepting the fact that the vampires are not the main “heart throbs”, of course! LOL This story has it all - mystery, Shifters, mates, HOT hot moments, hilarity ranging from puns, to sarcasm to plays on words and this lightheartedness that helps to round out the serious stuff making it all a read you don't want to miss out on!! Of course, the fact that it is all perfectly fused together into a terrific storyline written by an author whom you can tell from the start is extraordinarily gifted, just makes it all the much more sweeter! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can't wait for more!! While I am waiting, I will have to go back and read book 1 The Alpha’s Mate since I think that somehow I missed it!?! I absolutely love how Michelle does the "internal wolf"!! It cracks me right up! For me, that is what makes a shifter well, a shifter! I love that the wolf does have its own “personality” as well, and that while it is one with its “human”, it still has its own thoughts almost, and the influence it tries to have over them, well it is priceless! Specifically with Gretchen! She doesn’t want Talon but her wolf sure does! I kept picturing it happening superimposed in my mind the way I think it is for the actual shifters, so when the wolf did anything like perking up, pacing, whining, drooling, etc. I could see it! Obviously that means one of two things - either proof that I've lost it or it is yet even more proof of just how gifted Michelle truly is! My vote is for Michelle! :-) I did find it a little confusing that Gretchen seems to have the Pack in general, as well as her Pack, up on a pedestal almost. Any problem that arises, or from stories she hears, the first answer or first place to turn is always to the Pack & the Alpha, but yet she scoffs at fated mates?!? I know WHY she thinks they are bull, but if everything else is Pack & Pack rules, customs, etc. then why should this be so farfetched? And who the bleep doesn't want their own Alpha? I am thinking that if you are reading these books, it is either because you already have an Alpha to call yours, you WANT an Alpha to call your own, or you just want some ideas to...well, you know what I mean! *wags eyebrows while giving a big wolfy grin* Regardless, after some of these lines it makes me drool & yearn even more for my own Alpha! Like this one for example "No one touches what’s mine. No one." Or how about "She smelled awesome, so what? She had curves that he would pay money to lick…" oh come on! That one makes me wet! I mean weak...as in weak in the knees. really. And I'm not too proud to accept help “his wolf started yipping with excitement" snicker. My point is that this the perfect blend of all things hot, spicy, sexy and romance with a terrifically meaty storyline. Almost makes me want to give up on waiting for my vampire mate to get on over here! I think an Alpha would do pawfectly!! All ruff and male and devoted and hot..and....Alpha....and sexy......and mind....blo...w...ing....ummmm, whew! Is it hot in here or is that just him? *naughty grin*
I was given this gift of a book to read and review. Yes I am calling my ARC a gift because I appreciate this opportunity to read this masterpiece by Michelle Fox. The Alpha Justice is the second Bad Boy Alpha Books I absolutely adored reading this book. Brilliant! My hat off to these three authors this is a phenomenal idea. The storyline is awesome, exciting, compelling and a book that I can and will read again and again. The characters are strong, hunky, fabulous, excellent, engaging and magnetic. Michelle Fox is one of the greatest authors who writes with a gold pen. This is a all round well written story.
Gretchen has dreamed of being a great chef. But in the middle of doing her interview she received a horrible text message. She has to rush back to her father because someone all most beats him to death. While she is at her father's home there is another phone call that threatening her life if the money father owes isn't paid to him. Gretchen decided to find out how and what her father owes to this person. When she finds receipts where her father had given thousands of dollars to a mystery person, she feels he must have been taken advantaged of, so ask the sheriff of her clan about what she found. Gretchen is told that it must go through the he pack leaders. But she thinks this takes to long and decided to take the material to the other sheriff for help.
Sheriff Talon has had a long night with little sleep and while he is eating what he calls breakfast doughnuts and a latte. Talon gets a whiff of some the delicious scent and looks up from his breakfast and the smell is coming Gretchen. Talon doesn't want to be helpful, but he feels a instant attraction to Gretchen that lets him know that he has found his fated mate. But Gretchen doesn't believe in fated mates.Talon knows she is the only one for him and he can barely control his being possessive and his sexual desire for her. The reason Gretchen doesn't believe in fated mates is because her mother who leaves Gretchen and her dad. Talon decided to get Gretchen to stay close to him hoping that the mating pull will make her want him. The dialogue and pace of this storyline is great it's suspenseful, steamy and HOT and you can't put it down, I was hooked this story from the beginning of the book. Michelle sex scenes are always the best it's Burning HOT and well written.
This is the second Bad Boy Alpha book that is Excellent Magnificent Shifter Romance You will Absolutely Love All Three!!!
So Don't Miss A One!!! This is as all three are Worth Reading!!! I Know I did!!!
