Luna Hayes is a South African Indie author who writes closed door ( 3/4 closed) romance novels. She loves custom bookish themed scented candles and eating way too much chocolate while she writes- usually with a cat on her lap. When she's not writing she's having conversations (in her head) with her characters while milking her goats or watering her garden.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book which had me hooked from the start.

Melissa and Ryan meet on a date and apart from the start it goes well, Ryan gives her a T-shirt to wear as her clothes got wet with the rain. They exchange numbers. But no contact is made.

Years later, Melissa receives a call to say that her mom has had an accident, she’s not been home for a long time, she takes leave from work and goes home. When she arrives she and Ryan meet, Melissa had no idea that the person that her mom spoke about was him.

Slowly they begin to spend time together and Ryan explains what happened all those years ago. She then meets his daughters, who were so cute.

Melissa meets up with her friends and they talk about their lives. Melissa hasn’t mentioned her secret to anyone. She’s a ghostwriter for a famous celebrity, but gets no credit for it, Melissa is in a dilemma, does she carry on as she is or go it alone?

Then when she takes the girls out to buy plants, one of them goes missing which results in Ryan ending things between them.

Now, Melissa feels like there’s no reason to stay. Then an incident happens in her mom’s field and the whole village rally round to help.

Will Ryan and Melissa clear the air and make a fresh start or will Melissa go back to her old life?

I loved the relationship between Melissa and her mom and her friends and Ryan’s daughters. It was also lovely to see how her friends and those of her mom rallied round to help in times of need.

It’s a story of new beginnings, family, friendship and love.

I highly recommend this book.

Charming and sweeter than sugar, as honey is.

The wide cast of characters gives the book such a friendly, community feel. They are all individuals and, as someone who has read the series, it's nice to see them again.
The love story was heartwarming and they seemed meant to be together. I liked watching them grow closer and seeing how other people meddled. The humour was fun, bringing it to life.

It was interesting to visit locations outside Lockhart Falls. They were very nicely described.

I recommend this to readers who like their contemporary closed-door romance sweet with a strong small-town feel and some heart and humour.
