A sexy new standalone from #1 New York Times bestselling author Vi Keeland, perfect for those who loved Under the Tuscan Sun and are ready to fall for Tuscany all over again.

Some people go to Tuscany to find themselves.

I went to escape—New York, my ex’s new relationship, and a career that derailed the moment I was passed over for partner.

My plan was settle my eccentric Italian grandmother’s estate, sell whatever wasn’t nailed down, and return to the life I’d worked too hard to lose.

Instead, I walked into a mess—a crumbling antique shop, two hundred acres of leased vineyard land, and one infuriating clause in the Live and work in the shop for three months, or inherit nothing.

Then there’s the neighbor I clash with instantly. Matteo Lucchese is the infuriatingly handsome winemaker who leases my family’s land and refuses to be impressed by my credentials—or my attitude. He’s rugged and stubborn, stuck living in a time that has long passed us by, and the word rush isn’t part of his vocabulary. Basically, we’re exact opposites.

But as the days stretch into weeks, Tuscany chips away at the armor I didn’t realize I was wearing, and Matteo shows me the appeal of slowing down, of staying rooted, of wanting something other than climbing the corporate ladder.

I came to Tuscany to escape.

But now that the countdown to going home was on, I wasn’t sure if I was ready to leave.

And the life I was falling for came with a looming expiration date.

The Fall Affair by Vi Keeland was such a fun, romantic escape to Tuscany! I loved how escapist this story felt. The Tuscany setting was absolutely gorgeous, and Vi Keeland did a great job balancing the romance with the emotional side of Allegra’s journey. There’s something really satisfying about watching a character who is so focused on her career and the life she thought she wanted slowly realize that maybe she wants something completely different. And of course, Matteo made that realization a whole lot easier. 😂 Their chemistry was palpable, and their relationship had such a great mix of emotional, sweet, healing, and spicy moments.

Vi Keeland also manages to pull off some sort of surprise or twist in her romances, which is no easy feat when you’re working within a genre where readers can often guess where things are headed. The surprise here worked really well for me and added another layer to the story without taking away from the romance.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Andi Arndt and Connor Crais, and they were fantastic. Andi can basically do no wrong in my book—she could read me the phone book and I’d happily listen. 😂 But Connor Crais absolutely surprised me with his performance as Matteo. His Italian accent was flawless, and he really brought Matteo to life. Honestly, his narration elevated an already swoony character even more.

Perfect for readers who love:

* 🇮🇹 A romantic escape to Tuscany
* 🍷 Vineyard settings
* 💕 Enemies to lovers ish chemistry
* 🌿 Healing romances & fresh starts
* 🔥 Plenty of spice
* ✨ Unexpected surprises in a romance
* 🎧 Fantastic dual narration
* 😍 A swoony, rugged Italian hero

Oh my gosh, this was such a beautiful, cozy, and fun story!

Allegra is a hardworking lawyer whose entire life revolves around making partner. Until she doesn’t get it. Instead, her world is turned upside down when she inherits her grandmother’s home in Tuscany. There’s just one catch: she has to live there for three months before the inheritance is officially hers. It quickly becomes clear that her grandmother’s final wish wasn’t just to leave her a house, it was to teach her how to slow down and truly live.

Watching Allegra settle into Tuscany was one of my favorite parts of the book. The setting was absolutely gorgeous, and it made me want to pack my bags immediately. Then there’s Matteo…and let me just say, Italian men really do it better. 😍 The chemistry between these two was effortless, and I loved watching their relationship unfold.

This story is filled with wit, grief, personal growth, love, family, and friendship. It had me smiling, swooning, and appreciating the reminder that sometimes the life we plan isn’t the life we’re meant to have.

If you’re looking for a heartwarming romance with gorgeous fall vibes, a dreamy Italian setting, and characters you’ll want to spend time with, definitely pick this one up. It’s the perfect book to curl up with on a crisp fall day.

It's always a delight to read a Vi Keeland book. Always. Without fail, she gets to play my heartstrings like a master harp player. Just tug and tug and tug. But I knew what I was signing up for, and I shall just dab my eyes with tissues and move on.
The Fall Affair is not just a story that happens in Italy, it's a whole another realm of feelings stuffed into 300 something pages.
And not to mention all the law talk and Allegra being a lawyer, woof. As someone who has gone to law school, all of this was like a music for my ears. And reminded me a little of Suits LA in a tiny way (Allegra in court felt a lot like Ted Black to me, oops). Matteo being such a good guy, and having his heart broken in the past by the one he loved since he was a teenager... I wanted to wrap both of them in a hug and not let go.
Nona knew what was up when she was deciding what to do right before her death. I loved her voice throughout the whole book.
And that twist that happened somewhere towards the middle of the book? I did not see that coming, but I love how it all came out in the end.
Thank you for the opportunity to read the ARC of this book, and listen to an ALC at the same time. I had a blast.
This book releases on August 18th, don't miss it. Highly recommend.

Well, I have a new favorite Vi book. Which I knew I would the moment I heard about The Fall Affair, as well as who was narrating the audiobook. I'm a sucker for accents in an audiobook, especially when they are done well. I have to say, Andi Arndt and Connor Crais just blew me away with their Italian accents in this story. There were so many times I truly forgot Connor wasn't an Italian voice actor speaking some English, he was just that impressive. This was the first time I have heard him do an Italian accent and I really hope I get to hear him do this one again. I also want to say that there were times I could truly envision that I was there in Tuscany (and I really wish I was).

Allegra is an attorney who has been working way too hard for way too long. She was hoping to make partner this time around but was unfortunately passed over due to things another attorney was doing that Allegra would never do. So, on a drunken whim, she quit. Then she finds out she must travel to Tuscany to settle her grandmother's estate. Which she thinks shouldn't take long and then she can get back to the grind that is attorney life. But when she finds out that she must stay in Tuscany, life and work in her grandmother's home and shop for three months, things are much different. She also wasn't expecting the burly neighbor, Matteo.

Matteo is always helping anyone and everyone, especially Sophia, Allegra's grandmother. He also leases the land for his vineyard. Matteo's life hasn't gone as he had planned, but he's making the best of it. He's drawn to Allegra, but he knows she isn't staying around so he's fighting as hard as he can to stay away from her and not fall for her. Too bad she is making that next to impossible.

I can't say enough how much I loved this story. I truly wanted to start listening to it again as soon as I finished it. Allegra and Matteo's story was something so special and beautiful and I just couldn't get enough. Matteo loved so hard and even though the thought of moving to New York was hard for him, he was willing to consider it for Allegra. Which just made me love him even more. And now I want to take a trip to Tuscany. Thank you Vi for writing such a wonderful story and choosing the perfect narrators for this story.

As usual Vi takes my breath away with this amazing beautiful piece of written art!! From the first chapter til the chapter I was hooked!! I couldn’t put my kindle down I needed to soak up every single word like I needed air to breathe!! Allegra and Matteo were so perfect together. And I loved how the grandmother played matchmaker from beyond the grave in a sense. The way they came together was so beautiful and sweet and the meet cute was so funny!! I don’t want to say much about this book because it is something you need to discover on your own and take in all the beauty of the story! And be able to devour it like I did in all its glory!! This will definitely be in my top 3 reads of 2026!!! I can’t recommend this book enough!!!

The fall affair is a remarkable story. Filled with sizzling chemistry, witty banter, heartfelt moments. Secrets buried long ago come to light. This was such an addictive romance that had me hooked from the first page, I was unable to put it down. I read it in one session. I absolutely loved it.

Allegra is a divorce lawyer, working too many hours trying to climb to the top & make partner.
She’s seen the worst of relationships & been hurt before so she’s solely focused on her career.
When she’s passed up for someone far inferior she quits.

This comes at a perfect time as she has to spend three months in Tuscany, closing her grandmother’s (Nonna’s) home & business after she’s passed away.

Allegra spent every summer in Tuscany growing up, her parents would come to visit for a few weeks, she loved spending time with her Nonna & would end up staying for the entire summer so she has very fond memories of her time there.

Allegra’s first encounter with her new (very sexy Italian) neighbour Matteo was hilarious. He loans land from Allegra’s Nonna so inevitably they run into each other & spend more time together.

Their journey is filled with witty banter, sizzling tension & heartfelt moments that kept me hooked.

Matteo was the complete package, he’s kind, humble & unapologetically romantic. He’s a little mysterious who is also carrying his own heartbreak.

Vi Keeland has given us a truly beautiful love story. I adored Allegra & Matteo's story. I just couldn't get enough.

This story is more than a typical romance, although it delivers this perfectly. It was also about family, secrets, grief, trying to find your place in the world, Questioning, what makes a life happy, fulfilling & meaningful.
Nonna also has a strong presence throughout the book, despite her passing. I adored the letters that would arrive. They brought a smile, a tear to my eye & a lump in my throat in equal measure.

I honestly can’t recommend The Fall affair highly enough. You could almost feel the Tuscan sun on your body or feel breeze in your hair, I felt transported to Italy whilst reading this incredible book.

Vi Keeland can do no wrong when it comes to contemporary romance for me! And this one takes place in my dream vacation destination—Italy! (The plans are already in the works and Tuscany is high on my list after reading this book!)

Allegra is a NYC lawyer working 80-hour weeks with her sights set on making partner. But when she gets passed over again, she finally loses it. Luckily, fate seems to be working in her favor. Her beloved Nonna has passed away and left Allegra her estate, with one catch: she has to go to Italy, stay for three months, and then she gets it all. Oh, that Nonna!!

The plan is simple: go to Italy, relax, recharge, and return to NYC ready to get back to being a lawyer.

Enter Matteo, the Italian neighbor who owns a winery (although “neighbor” doesn't quite cover it!).

What starts as a friendship slowly blossoms into something more, and once they both realize what's happening, the romance begins. We also get glimpses into Matteo's first love through flashbacks, which adds another layer to his story.

Matteo is truly one of a kind. He's the kind of person who helps everyone, and he also had a special relationship with Allegra's grandmother, which made his connection to Allegra even more meaningful.

Vi Keeland does a beautiful job of bringing Tuscany to life through Allegra and Matteo's eyes. I loved watching these two fall in love while surrounded by vineyards, beautiful scenery, and the Italian countryside.

I listened to the audiobook, and Andi Arndt is always a favorite of mine. This was my first Connor Crais narration.

And now for my possibly unpopular opinion… I am not a fan of Italian male accents done by American narrators. It just never sounds quite right to me! That said, my dislike of the accent definitely did not distract from how much I enjoyed this book.

A beautiful Italian setting, a sweet romance, and Vi Keeland doing what she does best. ❤️

Highly recommend!

The Fall Affair was basically a one way ticket to Tuscany, and I was NOT ready to come home.

This was such a fantastic audiobook experience. Connor Crais and Andi Arndt were phenomenal, and their duet narration made Matteo and Allegra feel incredibly real. And can we talk about Connor Crais’s Italian accent?! Absolutely EVERYTHING. The authentic accent and Italian dialogue added another layer to the story and made the whole experience feel so immersive.

But beyond the narration, I loved the heart of this story.

Allegra and Matteo both have their own baggage, wounds, and reasons for keeping people at arm’s length, and watching them slowly find healing, happiness, and each other was EVERYTHING. There’s heartbreak, family history, past trauma, humor, romance, and plenty of emotional moments that had me feeling all the things.

And then there’s Nonna.

Technically, we don’t get to meet her in the traditional sense, but through her letters and the memories she left behind, she became such an important part of the story. Somehow, this woman stole my heart without even being physically present.

I also loved how much the setting became part of the experience. I could SEE Tuscany. I could FEEL the slower pace. I could practically smell the vineyards and imagine the little antique shop. Listening to this while heading into fall made it even better because it gave me just enough cozy autumn vibes without losing that gorgeous Italian summer atmosphere.

This was one of those audiobooks where I kept thinking, “Just one more chapter…” because I didn’t want to leave Matteo, Allegra, or Tuscany.

Without a doubt, The Fall Affair is going on my Top Audiobooks of 2026 list.

[The Fall Affair]

I loved every single second of this book! It felt like I was taken from my reality and dropped into the most picturesque setting in Tuscany. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't actually dropped in Tuscany *womp womp*, but instead Allegra was. Her story is filled with vespas, winemakers, antique shops, outspoken grandmas, handsome neighbors, and an opportunity to find out what really matters in life.

Allegra's beloved grandma passes away and leaves her everything, but she must leave her busy life in New York City and come live in her small town in Tuscany for three months to inherit it. After a fallout with work, she takes the opportunity. After arriving, she meets Matteo, her handsome Italian winemaking neighbor, discovers that her sassy grandma left her a string of letters challenging her to find herself, and decides to fully experience all that the fresh start has to offer.

Vi Keelands books always have the most perfect balance between romance, banter, spice, emotional growth, and memorable heartfelt moments. This was no different. This book felt like a cozy comfort read while also having so much depth. The ending was also PERFECT. I'm obsessed!

The Fall Affair by Vi Keeland 🍂❤️

I absolutely loved The Fall Affair! This book was such a fun, heartfelt reminder that sometimes we need to slow down, step away from the chaos, and actually live our lives.

Allegra is a powerhouse New York City lawyer who is used to working nonstop and putting everything else second. But after her grandmother dies, she’s forced to take a step back and reevaluate what she really wants out of life. And honestly, Nonna for the win! ❤️

The characters were so lovable and easy to root for, and Vi Keeland did such a great job creating relationships that felt fun, emotional, and genuine. There was romance, humor, heart—and of course, enough Italian charm to have me thinking, Okay, where can I go find myself a sweet, sexy Italian man? 😂🇮🇹

More than anything, I loved the message woven throughout the story: life is happening right now, so don’t be so busy working and chasing the next thing that you forget to actually enjoy it.

Vi Keeland knocked this one out of the park for me. If you’re looking for a romance with lovable characters, plenty of heart, a little spice, and a beautiful reminder to slow down and savor life, definitely pick this one up!

This story was so much more beautiful than I was expecting. At its heart, The Fall Affair is about grief, loss and what happens when the life you thought you wanted suddenly doesn’t feel like yours anymore.

I loved watching Allegra navigate everything she had lost while slowly figuring out who she was outside of the life she had built for herself. And Matteo had his own grief and pieces of his past he was still holding onto. There was something so beautiful about two people carrying loss in completely different ways finding each other exactly when they needed to.

Their relationship felt like more than just falling in love. It was about healing, slowing down, letting yourself want something different and realizing that starting over doesn’t mean you failed. Sometimes finding yourself and finding your person can happen at the exact same time.

Such a beautiful, emotional story and easily a five star read for me.

Thank you Vi for the EARC and ALC. Thank you bloom for the proof.

Allegra's and Matteo's story was a bit different. They started as neighbors and kind of friends till they finally got together. It was a slow burner, you were constantly waiting for them to finally coming together. The image of the scenery was really beautiful, since I visited Italy a while back, I have the places in my mind while reading this book. It was a beautiful romantic story, with some unexpected not so nice curves.

Hands down one of my favorite books from Vi Keeland. Allegra and Matteo have such great chemistry. Their story pulls you in from the very beginning. The way it unfolds is beautifully told. Allegra is a hard working lawyer who receives a letter stating she has inherited her grandmothers home in Tuscany. There is a slight catch though. She must live their for three months before the property is transferred to her. When she arrives there she meets Matteo a winemaker who lives next door and leases a part of the property Allegra's grandmother owned to grow his grapes. From the beginning these two fight the attraction they have for one another. Over time they become friends first before anything else starts. Allegra learns to slow down from the fast paced life she has been living. She begins to see what really matters in life as she becomes friends with the people of the town. Matteo is so enamored with her and will do what he can to win her heart. I received an ALC as well as an ARC of this book and I Loved the audio of this book. The narration was amazing. I have heard Conner Crais narrate before but this was a whole new level when he did an Italian accent for Matteo! Wonderful story. With a great HEA. I know I will be listening to this one again.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC and ALC of this book.

Allegra escapes to Tuscany and what she finds is something unexpected. Including that her neighbour Matteo is utterly delicious! They’re drawn together in ways hard to resist. She came to Tuscany to close a chapter of her life, turns out that’s where she started a whole new life.

It was Bellissimo! Mentally I’m still in Tuscany…

Main trope: This is a contemporary romance.

✅Found family

Detailed spoilers/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below. There is a warning right before the spoiler and trigger section so you have the choice to proceed or stop reading.

Summary: The FMC is Allegra. She works as a divorce attorney for a busy practice in NYC, leaving very little time to just relax and enjoy life. When she is passed up as partner, something she was expecting, she quits her job. Just as that is happening, she is notified by the lawyer handling her late grandmother’s (nonna) estate in Italy that he needs to discuss something with her. She is informed her nonna left her everything, including land and an antique store, but there is a condition. She must live there for three months before she will receive it in her name. Since she doesn’t have a job anymore, she uses this as an opportunity to get some space from the city and figure out her next step.

Immediately she meets the MMC Matteo, as he was the neighbor to her nonna. Straight away, he begins to be a big help to her, all while sharing funny and endearing stories of the time he spent with her nonna. Through these stories as well as letters her nonna left her anticipating for her death, Allegra begins to feel connected to this place that once held a very special place in her heart. She also begins to get closer to Matteo, the more time they spend together, but is hesitant to explore a romantic relationship given she’s only there for a short time.

She has other reservations regarding romance as well, because of trust issues, and Matteo is the same. He was once married and things did not end well, and all of the details of what happened with him are told in past perspective chapters.

Secrets and truths unfold as the story progresses, just as the main characters are getting both closer to each other, and trying to push each other away, leading to a point where the FMC must make a decision of what she wants to do. The question is will she use her head or her heart to make the choice?

⚠️SPOILERS/SPICE/DETAILED TRIGGERS⚠️

*Discussion of dying and grief.
*Additional spoilers not shared as a condition of receiving the ARC but there are some secrets that get revealed that have a big impact on the characters so stay tuned.
🌶️:2/5

Final thoughts: What a treat this book was. It had me from the get go. First with all the angst and drama surrounding Allegra’s work. That was fun to learn about. But the part that had me feeling so connected was Allegra going back to Italy and her stories and memories with and about her nonna. I was raised by my grandmother so all of that was even more meaningful for me.

The setting for this book was perfect and helped to build the story in a way to allow an even deeper connection to the characters. This place helped the FMC become the person she was, either through the lived experiences she had when visiting her nonna or just simply it being where her family came from. There were times it felt like I was really there which is a testament to the author’s writing the scenery.

The MMC was a wonderful character who was kind and generous as he worked through his own grief and hurtful past. He was exactly what the FMC needed. I also loved all the secondary characters, and they added humor and important dialogue that helped build the story. I listened to this on audiobook and thought the narrators were fantastic. The male narrator was perfect as an Italian male, with the accent and using the language at certain times.

Overall this book had everything you would want. It was sweet, funny, romantic, endearing, and that last letter at the end from Allegra’s nonna was the perfect ending to this beautiful romance.

When Tuscany Feels Like Home

Somewhere between the rolling vineyards, the warmth of Tuscany and one unforgettable Italian man, I completely lost my heart.

This book gave me ALL the feels. From the very first page, I was swept away to Tuscany and completely invested in Allegra and Matteo’s story.

The tension between these two was EVERYTHING. Their chemistry was undeniable and I loved watching two people with such different lives slowly become something so deep, authentic and beautiful. They were opposites in so many ways, yet somehow fit together perfectly.

And when Allegra finally decides to take a chance on love… MY HEART. Watching her learn to slow down, let go of the life she thought she wanted, and open herself to something completely unexpected was incredibly moving.

And Matteo… THIS MAN. Bellissimo.
His charm, devotion to his family and grounded nature made him impossible not to fall for. But the way he loves Allegra? Something truly special. Steady, patient, genuine and all-encompassing.

And the spice? Between these two? Bollente!

I also loved the emotional thread involving Allegra’s grandmother. The letters, the tea set, and a secret that changed everything added such beautiful depth to her journey. Watching Allegra handle the unexpected with grace and an open heart was such a beautiful reflection of her growth.

And Tuscany itself? Absolutely magical. The small-town warmth, heartfelt friendships, and welcoming community made this story feel like a place I never wanted to leave.

And the romance between Allegra and Matteo? It left a lasting impression. Their story wasn’t just about falling in love…it was about finding yourself while learning to let someone else in.

This was a beautiful blend of self-discovery, healing, love, friendship and finding where you belong. Sometimes the life we think we’re supposed to have isn’t the one that will truly make us happy.

🎧I had the absolute pleasure of listening to the audiobook and it elevated the story in every way.

Connor Crais and Andi Arndt were simply outstanding. They brought Matteo and Allegra to life in a way that made every emotion even more vivid. Their performances captured the tenderness, vulnerability, humor, chemistry and heart of this story perfectly.

And come on… Connor Crais with an Italian accent🫦

I was already hooked the second I saw he was narrating, but that accent?! Mamma mia…I could have listened to Matteo talk all day.

Vi Keeland continues to impress me with every story she tells. She has this incredible ability to create characters that stay with you, romances that make you experience every emotion and stories that linger long after you’ve finished them.

This one wrapped itself around my heart and made Tuscany feel like somewhere I desperately wanted to visit.

A romance filled with heart, warmth, beautiful chemistry, self-discovery and so much emotion.

✔️MUST READ.
✔️MUST LISTEN.

And if you choose the audiobook… you’re welcome. That Italian accent alone is worth the listen, however, the performance is pure excellence.

Vi Keeland did it again and it is remarkable.

Some stories you read, some you listen to, but the truly special ones become a place you carry with you and Allegra and Matteo’s story will forever feel a little like home.

La dolce vita, indeed!

📚The Fall Affair by Vi Keeland
🎤Andi Arndt and Connor Crais

DUET NARRATION
4.5 ⭐

Thanks to Vi Keeland and Give Me Books Promo for a #gifted copy of the ARC and ALC. All thoughts are my own.

Vi Keeland is an auto-buy for me because the woman delivers every time. I LOVED this book, the characters, the setting and the story. A romance in Tuscany with a hot, swoony Italian MC? Um.. yes! Per favore and Grazie!

Allegra is a divorce attorney working in NYC. Her life is her work. She has very little time to relax and have fun. When she gets passed up once AGAIN for partner, she's had enough. She up and quits her job. Just as this happens, she's informed that her grandmother, who lives in Italy, has passed away. She's informed she needs to come to Italy to settle her grandmother's estate. She finds out that she's been left everything, including some land and an antique store her Nonna owned, but there's one condition....she has to live there for 3 months before she'll receive anything.

Since she's quit her job, she decides to stay and use this as an opportunity to relax a bit and figure things out and what her next step will be with work. What she ISN'T expecting is to meet her grandmother's neighbor Mateo, a very handsome, swoony wine maker who immediately jumps in to help her.

Despite not living there, Allegra begins to feel a connection with Italy, the people and the sexy neighbor she can't keep her eyes off. The more time Allegra and Mateo spend together, the more apparent it becomes that there's an attraction and connection there but Allegra is hesitant because she's only planning on staying there the summer.

Both Allegra and Mateo have trust issues because of past relationships. The past and secrets begin to unfold as the story progresses. What Allegra eventually has to decide is what she's going to do about work. Will she stay in Italy or go back to NYC and practice law. Her head is telling her one thing but her heart is telling her another and all the while Mateo is there calling her "Bellissimo", being a hot, sexy Italian and loving every inch of her! Gah!

🎤Let's talk audio: You guys! You guys! This audio is truly something unique! Not only is the DUET narration perfection but listening to Connor speak with that heavy Italian accent was a treat in itself. Andi is one of my absolute favorites and especially in Vi's books. She's so perfect voicing Allegra. BOTH she and Connor BLEW me away with their Italian accents. Andi's always on point with her comedic timing and makes Allegra so likeable. Connor as Mateo was FIRE! The accent, the charm and quiet presence he gives Mateo was "PERFETTO!" 🤌🏻The duet narration between these two made their conversations feel so intimate and believable. This is one that MUST be listened to. The narration just elevates this baby!

A quick shout out to the setting of this story because truly, it's kind of its own character. There's just something so dreamy about Tuscany and really makes this story all that more romantic. Truly, this is a book that should be made into a movie. No joke! It's has all the fixin's for a terrific cinematic experience. This is the perfect fall listen with a heartwarming romance, gorgeous Italian vibes and characters you'll love. Go listen to this people! PREGO!

Vi Keeland’s The Fall Affair reminded me that sometimes life has to completely wreck your carefully organized plans before it hands you exactly what you needed all along. Bloom Books and Vi Keeland, thank you so much for the gifted book and ALC.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Sometimes the world breaks apart, but in the wreckage you find something beautiful.”

I started this audiobook during my commute thinking it would be an easy summer romance to keep me company on the drive. Instead, I found myself sitting in my driveway long after I got home because I wasn’t ready to leave Tuscany—or Allegra and Matteo.

Allegra immediately felt real to me. She’s spent years chasing the next promotion, measuring success by long hours and impossible expectations, only to have everything she’d planned disappear in an instant. Watching her reluctantly trade New York City for her late Nonna’s little corner of Tuscany was like watching someone slowly remember how to breathe again.

And then there’s Matteo.

Can we all agree that emotionally mature men who make wine, cook dinner, fix just about anything, and somehow still manage to be humble should probably be protected at all costs? Matteo completely stole this story for me. He’s patient without being a pushover, romantic without trying too hard, and carries his own heartbreak with such quiet grace that I couldn’t help falling for him right alongside Allegra.

What surprised me most wasn’t the romance—although it absolutely delivered—but how much this story became about family, legacy, grief, and figuring out what actually makes a life meaningful. Nonna’s presence lingers through every page, and her love for both her family and her community gives the entire novel its heart. More than once I caught myself smiling…and yes, I definitely teared up before the ending.

The audiobook made everything even richer. Andi Arndt captured Allegra’s determination, vulnerability, and humor beautifully, while Connor Crais absolutely melted me as Matteo. That Italian accent? Let’s just say if he offered me a glass of wine and a vineyard tour, I’d probably cancel my return flight too. Their duet-style performance made every conversation feel intimate and incredibly believable.

If you love opposites attract, breathtaking Italian settings, charming small-town communities, found family, emotional healing, and romances that balance laughter with heartfelt moments, don’t let this one pass you by. It’s warm, hopeful, wonderfully romantic, and quietly reminds us that success doesn’t always look the way we imagined.

Now tell me…if you inherited a little antique shop in Tuscany with a handsome winemaker living next door, would you stay for three months—or never leave?

Visiting Italy has always been at the top of my bucket list, and reading The Fall Affair just ramped up my desire to finally visit such a beautiful country. Allegra and Matteo's story is a heartwarming story of two people who would probably have never met under normal circumstances but once they do, it was inevitable that these two would find a beautiful happily ever after.

When Allegra's beloved Italian grandmother passes away, she leaves everything in her will to Allegra with the stipulation that she stay in Tuscany and work in her store for three months, which works out perfectly for Allegra since she just quit her job after being passed up for partner at the law firm she worked for. I loved watching Allegra fall in love with Italy and the small town of Montepulciano. It didn't hurt that a gorgeous Italian hottie lived right next door because he leased land from Allegra's Nonna.

Matteo was the whole package! Gorgeous, Italian, a handyman, an all-around gentleman, a good cook and did I mention he owns a winery? Right from the beginning he was ready and willing to help Allegra with everything. Initially she drove me a little crazy with trying to be too independent. In one of the first scenes, she tells Matteo how long it took her just to get there, and all the mishaps along the way, and when he tries to carry a suitcase for her, she was immediately, "I can carry my own suitcase," and I was like, "girl, you just complained how tired you are, let the hot Italian man carry your suitcase, and walk behind him so you can admire his amazing derriere." LOL

Allegra and Matteo had several bumps along the way on the path to their happily ever after, and the scenes from Matteo's past really helped to showcase why he had the fears he had, but ultimately these two realized how important it was to grab onto the love they had for each other, and everything else would fall into place.

What made this book so emotional also were the letters Allegra, and Matteo, received from Nonna along the way. With just about every letter, I was left in tears and felt so sad that I had never met this amazing woman. Then I remembered she's a fictional character! But that's how real she felt to me. I loved the whole cast of secondary characters; they really rounded out the story. I was happy to see that Allegra finally learned to slow down and appreciate each day and all of the gifts she had, which was ultimately Nonna's wish for her. And to fall in love with Matteo!

Hopefully one day I'll get to visit Italy, it sounds like such a magical place!

On the surface, The Fall Affair by Vi Keeland looks like your typical gorgeous, swoon-worthy romance, but once you peel back the layers, it delivers so much more depth than expected. At its core, this isn't just a story about falling in love with another person—it’s a soulful, deeply hopeful journey about healing, self-discovery, and starting over when your world falls apart.

🍷Vacation romance
🍷forced proximity
🍷friends-to-lovers
🍷he falls first
🍷found family.

The story follows Allegra, a New York lawyer who has just walked away from her firm after facing systemic discrimination and professional burnout. When her late grandmother leaves her an estate in Tuscany—stipulating she must live there for three months to claim it—she packs up and heads to Italy. Enter Matteo: her grandmother’s charming neighbor who leases part of the property for his vineyard. As Matteo helps Allegra navigate her new surroundings, their easy banter, quiet moments working side-by-side, and shared connection to the estate spark a slow-burning, tender romance.
What makes this book stand out is the character development. Allegra’s decision-making at the climax isn't just driven by her love for Matteo, but by her love for herself. She learns that the most important thing in life is to live and love freely, independent of career expectations. Matteo, too, undergoes a profound transformation as their bond unexpectedly alters the trajectory of his life.
.
The Tuscan backdrop—complete with vibrant art, music, local wine culture, and close-knit community—feels like a character of its own.
.
The romantic build-up is sweet and organic. Matteo takes the initiative early on, and their banter feels completely natural. Matteo is so dreamy. There is a charming sweetheart behind his slightly brooding and grumpy exterior. Allegra unlocked something inside him. She had a lot of secrets and baggage to work through and she pushed him back quiet a few times. The banter, the slow burn, the heartache..everything contributed to make this a beautiful love story.
.
The detailed exploration of Matteo's past felt a bit heavy-handed. While I understand the author's intent—to establish his visceral fear of abandonment and lack of trust—the extensive backstory occasionally disrupted the romantic momentum Allegra and Matteo were building.
.
Overall, The Fall Affair is a beautiful, emotionally resonant read that balances lighthearted romantic charm with genuine personal growth.

I had this amazing opportunity to receive an ARC of The Fall Affair by Vi Keeland, and from the moment I started reading, I couldn’t put it down until I reached the very last page because I was instantly addicted.

I started reading this story convinced that I was about to dive into a sweet romance that would make me swoon and fall in love with the beautiful and breathtaking descriptions of one of the most beautiful places on Earth, the iconic Italian landscapes of Tuscany. But in reality, it was so much more than that.

I cried some serious tears while reading this book. I blame it on the old and sweet lady whom I dream of still having my own in my life every single day. I blame it on second chances in life and love. I blame it on forgiveness, of ourselves and of others. I blame it on finding new and amazing people throughout our lives. I blame it on the courage it takes to let go and the incredible strength it takes to leave everything behind and choose happiness. And, of course, I blame it on the red wine and the wonderful dream of owning a house in Tuscany, where life really does move a little slower. And I definitely blame it on Vi Keeland for making me feel all these amazing feelings.

What an amazing and beautiful life, and love story, this book was.

“Sometimes the world breaks apart, but in the wreckage you find something beautiful.”

Allegra and Matteo? Well, I hope they really exist in a small Italian town somewhere, living the most exhilarating life and still going to bed mad at each other sometimes.

“I know now that real love isn’t about being fearless; it’s about choosing to stay when we’re afraid.”

Thank you so much, Vi Keeland, for this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait for everyone to meet Allegra and Matteo 🖤, and I hope Nonna finds a place in their hearts just as she found one in mine.

“And to you, my darling girl—this will be my last letter. But know this: I’m still here. I’m in the wind that moves through the vines, in the laughter that fills your new home, and occasionally I’m in the storm that rolls in unexpectedly just when you’ve hung the laundry out to dry. You carry me in your heart, and that’s where I want to be for eternity.”

She went to Tuscany to settle an estate and return to her real life. She never expected to find the life—and the man—she didn’t know she was missing. 🇮🇹🍷💕

Read if you like:

🇮🇹 A romantic escape to Tuscany
🍷 Vineyards and small-town charm
💕 Opposites-attract chemistry
🌿 Fresh starts and emotional healing
🔥 A swoony, rugged Italian hero
✨ An unexpected twist
🎧 Fantastic dual narration

The Fall Affair was such a fun, romantic escape! The beautiful Tuscan setting, the crumbling antique shop, and the vineyard made me want to pack my bags and move to Italy immediately.

I really enjoyed Allegra’s journey. She arrives determined to complete the terms of her grandmother’s will and get back to the career and life she worked so hard to build. But as Tuscany—and Matteo—slowly chip away at her defenses, she begins to question whether the future she planned is still the one she truly wants. I loved watching her learn to slow down, reconnect with her family’s legacy, and become open to a completely different kind of happiness.

And Matteo certainly made the idea of staying very tempting. 😂 He was rugged, stubborn, incredibly swoony, and the perfect contrast to Allegra’s fast-paced New York personality. Their chemistry was palpable, with a wonderful combination of banter, sweetness, emotional healing, and plenty of spice.

Vi Keeland is so good at adding an unexpected element to her romances, and the surprise in this one added another emotional layer without taking the focus away from Allegra and Matteo’s love story.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Andi Arndt and Connor Crais, and they were fantastic. Andi Arndt can basically do no wrong in my book, but Connor Crais truly brought Matteo to life. His Italian accent made an already swoony hero even more irresistible.

The Fall Affair is a romantic, emotional, and deliciously escapist story about second chances, family legacy, and discovering that the life you never planned may be exactly the one you were missing.

Would you trade your fast-paced life for a vineyard—and a handsome winemaker—in Tuscany? 🍷🇮🇹

She’s counting down the days until she leaves Tuscany. He’s counting on making her stay.

Some people go to Tuscany to find themselves. Allegra Bianchi goes to escape—New York, her ex’s new relationship, and a career that derailed the moment she was passed over for partner.

Her plan is simple: settle her eccentric Italian grandmother’s estate, sell whatever isn’t nailed down, and return to the life she’s worked too hard to lose.

Instead, she walks into a mess—a crumbling antique shop, two hundred acres of leased vineyard land, and one infuriating clause in the will: live and work in the shop for three months, or inherit nothing.

Then there’s the neighbor she clashes with instantly. Matteo Lucchese is the infuriatingly handsome winemaker who leases her family’s land and refuses to be impressed by her credentials—or her attitude. He’s rugged and stubborn, stuck living in a time that feels long past, and the word rush isn’t part of his vocabulary. Basically, they’re exact opposites.

But as the days stretch into weeks, Tuscany chips away at the armor Allegra doesn’t realize she’s wearing, and Matteo shows her the appeal of slowing down, of staying rooted, of wanting something other than climbing the corporate ladder.

She goes to Tuscany to escape.

But now that the countdown to going home is on, Allegra isn’t sure she’s ready to leave.

And the life she’s falling for comes with a looming expiration date.

This book has all the feels. The slow-burn tension between Allegra’s big-city drive and Matteo’s rooted, unhurried way of life is so well done. Watching Tuscany gradually chip away at Allegra’s armor while Matteo shows her what it means to slow down and actually want something more than the next career win was pure magic. The setting is gorgeous, the banter is sharp, and the emotional payoff hits hard.If you’re looking for a heartfelt, enemies-to-lovers romance with gorgeous Italian vibes, strong character growth, and that perfect “I don’t want this to end” feeling, this is it. Highly recommend!
