This series is still okay...but it feels a bit too happy, if that makes sense? I'm a huge fan of Little House on the Prairie adjacent books and this certainly scratches that itch...but Logan can do no wrong. Even when he is DEFINITELY in the wrong, it is smoothed over and ends not having much of an impact.

A simple story, with larger print and easy to read words for young readers. Pictures on every page. The illustrations are great!
I liked that the book was very simple and family oriented. The brothers and sister sacrifice for each other and that the main character acknowledges that he loves his family. This held the interest of my preschoolers but is geared for a 7-8 yr audience.

The Tales from Maple Ridge are a great series for new readers. They each have a hidden value that they are trying to teach. This one is about honesty and working to accomplish a goal. I think they are fun books.

I had Catherine read this aloud to me in order to ensure she was reading correctly. I am super impressed with the series thus far. Excellent values, fun story. I wish these were more widely available, but as had to work hard to track down our set.

Logan Pryce and his family make their second appearance in this second book of the series, Tales From Maple Ridge. Short chapters, illustrated with pen and ink drawings on each page will make this historical fiction story appealing to younger readers. The plot centers around the need for every student in the one room schoolhouse to contribute money to repair the school.

Hopefully teachers will become aware of this series and use it in their guided reading.

Enjoyable children's fiction book, second in the series "Tales From Maple Ridge". Perfect for those readers who are looking for longer stories after making their way through the Early Reader levels. The lovely illustrations by Petra Brown add to the tale of young Logan and his family's daily life.
