I have no idea what’s going on at this point but still pretty fun. This one was like a fun romp around in the past from a different character’s perspective (one of my favorites) showing new friendships, but with a lot of underlying inevitable sadness. The biggest plot development for me was definitely getting the origin story of the main character’s soda addiction, riveting stuff lol!

this gets more complicated and sadder with each volume - now that I know what is going on (manga+anime+LNs = some moderate level of comprehension in a Steins Gate sort of way) I think my head is going to explode while I cry my eyes out.

I kinda like how this volume focused more on Haruka and Shinatrou's friendship rather than on Haruka and Takane, and that the crush was a bit more subtle this time around. It's also fun reading scenes where the POV character has no idea what's going on, but as a reader you know what's up. Aaah poor Haruka, haha..

There were surprisingly many scenes I have never read or seen before in any of the other mediums that involves Kagepro, I had no idea some scenes would even exist! It felt weird yet also really fun to finally see something new, at least to me, for someone who has seen/read certain scenes and events so many times. And getting to know Haruka in this way, that was nice.

The Kagerou Daze novels has a tendency to just throw us a lot of information instead of continuing on like a normal story would. Kagerou Daze is not a normal story though, not quite, and the ending has once again made me mad I don't already have the next volume!

Definitely the most interesting book in the series so far. If you liked the previous books, you'll love this one!

This was an interesting read. We start the story with Shintaro who stumbles upon Haruka. Haruka then tells Shintaro his side of the story.

While some of it is familiar, it also gives new pieces of information and offers more insight into the boys' friendship.

It made me realise how bad Shintaro got hurt. It wasn't just Ayano going into the Heathaze, it was a pile up of tragedy: dead father, dead friend, dead crush and all this at 16 years old. No wonder he became a shut-in. Incidentally, this might be the first novel in which Shintaro isn't a whiny, annoying guy.

Franchise wise: some of this shows up in the others' stories but there is plenty that is unique to this volume.

There is a bit of overlap with:
Song: Konoha no Sekai Jijō (Konoha's state of the World)

Anime: episodes 7 Konoha's state of the World; episode 9 Ayano's theory of Happiness.

Manga: As far as I can see, this hasn't been covered in the Manga yet.

This is easily the best volume of the series yet, which is odd when you consider the plot is just a retelling of Headphone Actor from Haruka's POV. But this is the first volume where I've gotten to the end and felt like I learned something that actually explains the plot. It also helps that either Jin or the translator has improved their writing, and Haruka actually sounds like a distinct character in his narration.
