Crave: The 2015 Atria Indie Author Sampler features summaries and excerpts from seven 2015 books by Atria authors.

The books featured are:

After the Rain by Renée Carlino
When You’re Back by Abbi Glines
Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle
Confess by Colleen Hoover
Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh
Black Iris Leah Raeder
Becoming Rain by K.A. Tucker

I am a huge fan of these samplers. It lets readers get peaks of books from their favorite authors. But it also lets readers get to see some new books and authors that they may be unfamiliar with.

I love Atria books. I am a fan of so many of their authors. I have read books by Colleen Hoover, KA Tucker, Karina Halle and Abbi Glines.

I have already read two of the books featured (Confess and Where Sea Meets Sky). And have Becoming Rain as one of my next reads.

Renée Carlino and Gail McHugh are new to me authors. So it was nice to take a look at their new books.

I was very happy to see Black Iris featured here. It is a book that I have been curious about reading. I think I would like to read it. The summary and chapters seem so intriguing.

Amber to Ashes sounds like a great New Adult college romance with a love triangle. After reading the summary and excerpt I think that I need to read this book!

If you are curious about Atria authors then definitely check out this sampler. It will definitely give you a good feel for what these seven books are about and maybe you'll find a new favorite author.

I received a copy via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review

To me there is no better way to be introduced to a variety of new authors than to read a collection or sampler. Atria offers up some brilliant authors on platter for us to experience in this collection of works by seven different authors. I will try to do my best to describe each story and give each author their praises without giving away to much because where would be the fun in that?

After the Rain by Renée Carlino

Having never read anything by Renee Carlino, I had no idea how much her writing would captivate me. Renee's takes us into the lives of two very different individuals, a country girl and a big shot cardiothoracic surgeon and peaks our curiosity as what kind of life these two could find together. She tempts us with the past of Avelina Belo and Nate Myers and had me ready to put down this collection and immediately immerse myself in the rest of their story in After The Rain. I cannot wait to follow up and see where their journey continues.

When You’re Back by Abbi Glines

I have heard nothing but absolutely raving reviews about this talented author and couldn't wait to indulge in an excerpt from one of her reads. Abbi soon has us wrapped up in drama between Reese, her love Mase, and his supposed cousin Aida. Now I am more than ready to read When You're Back and see where this little love triangle goes. Something tells me that Aida is going to cause a whole lot of problems between Mase and Reese and I want to be there for the show.

Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle

Having already experienced several stories by this amazing author, I couldn't wait to dive right in and fall for another hero and heroine penned by Karina Halle. Once again Karina didn't fail to draw me in in record time and have me salivating for her hero and heroine. She takes readers to a Halloween party in Vancouver and leaves us in the hands of two people dressed in sexy costumes who can't keep their hands and mouths off of one another. Where The Sea Meets is another book of Karina's that is most assuredly added to my to be read list!

Confess by Colleen Hoover

Having never read a CoHo book but knowing her worldwide fame, I was beyond excited to begin Confess and experience why everyone praises her writing so. Colleen Hoover introduces us to a young woman named Auburn and an enigmatic artist named Owen that is in desperate need of help. Colleen intrigues her readers with beautifully displayed art and anonymous confessions and a hero and heroine that just met but are instantly drawn to one another.

Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh

Whew! I cannot describe all the feelings that were flowing through my body while being introduced to three characters from Amber To Ashes by Gail McHugh. I just got a taste of the desire and intensity that are present in this love triangle. I could see myself with a heart torn to shreds by these three and plan on giving Amber the chance to do that by finishing their story. I can't even imagine how Amber will choose between Brock the handsome jock and Ryder the scorching bad boy...if only she could have both. Theirs is a college romance that I won't be missing out on!

Black Iris by Leah Raeder

Leah takes us into Laney's dark and twisted world to encounter one of the worst mornings of her life when she is sneaking back in the house just a little more corrupted from her night of rebellion. She faces one of the worst nightmares a daughter can face. Leah Raeder had me hooked and ready to embark on this less than savory journey with just a few pages of vivid imagery from Laney's story...Black Irish here I come!

Becoming Rain by K.A. Tucker

I was giddy to be introduced to a book by K. A. Tucker considering I have another one of her books sitting on my kindle waiting to be read at the moment. Tucker takes us into the world of the less than legit business of Rust's Garage to meet the handsome and impatient Luke Boone who has been waiting longer than he wanted to be handed the reins to a company that is on the side of shady which is what he suspects of his Uncle Rust. I can already tell he is going to be a hero that I cannot wait to tangle with. Now I will have to continue my exploration into this fictional world and meet the heroine Clara that I am sure is going to rock his world.

Atria brings us seven eloquent and talented authors to whet our literary appetite and tempt us to start on many new journeys with authors that we have yet to meet and ones that we love. I highly recommend Crave for a way to sample so many different worlds that you will want to venture into again after you are done with the first course of each story.

3.5 kisses

See the full review on my blog, the Book Whore

I was actually super excited to get into this, because this collection has some really great authors, but I didn't really pay attention to the Sampler aspect, so when the first book (which I was super into) suddenly ended after two chapters... you can imagine, I'm sure.

I’m going to go into this step-by-step, and one book at a time. I hope you find something worth looking into!

After the Rain by Renee Carlino

Recap: I was really into this one! It’s about a girl who’s racing her horse (and the undeniable connection she has with said horse) and she meets a charismatic cowboy the summer before her senior year of high school–and right before she’s forced to move to New York to live with her brother. What she doesn’t know is that first date will quickly turn into a marriage after only 3 months! Fast forward a few years, Nate Meyer is poised to become Mr. Important in heart surgery, but when his career is suddenly derailed he vacations at a ranch—where said girl now lives, years later. One who barely talks. What happened???

I was super psyched about this one, because of all the factors that I didn’t know–and it ending so abruptly killed me!

When You’re Back by Abbi Glines

Recap: This chapter sampler was super short, so I didn’t get much about it, but the blurb talks about how Reese is prepared to move on from her past and move in with hottie Mase. But a jealous cousin starts to make things difficult. Then there’s inescapable stranger, Captain…

Like I said, this sampler didn’t go for long enough for me to get a real sense, but I’ve always enjoyed Abbi’s writing I’m sure this one will be no different!

Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle

Recap: Struggling artist hooks up with well-rounded (in all ways) New Zealander and can’t get her out of his head even after she’s long gone. Before long, Josh backpacks across New Zealand to find her with only a first name to go on, “Gemma” (the most popular first name in NZ) and finds that Gemma was just as infatuated with him. But that’s only the beginning…

Okay, Karina Halle is someone I’ve been wanting to be introduced to for awhile now, and I was extremely disappointed with this one. Stupid pick-up lines were called “witty” and there was too much ‘dick’ commentary… Gemma sounded like a pornstar and it just didn’t give me good vibes. It didn’t help the first line was, “I got an erection the moment I first lay eyes on her.”
No.

Confess by Colleen Hoover

Recap: Auburn Reed needs a job and when she finds short-time employment, she doesn’t expect to have the immediate reaction to her boss, Owen, that she does. Except, Owen has a terrible secret, and the only way to save their relationship is to confess…

Okay, I realize that sounds super cheesy, but I actually really liked the overall idea behind this book. The studio Auburn works at has wall of confessions, for Owen to get inspiration from for his work. It’s an extremely cute idea that I can’t wait to see what comes from it!

Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh

Recap: Amber wants to start over on her first day of campus after her shitty life, but on her first day she’s meets two men (best friends) who light up her dark world. You have Brock and Ryder, “polar opposites” but really the same freaking person.

That’s my opinion, not part of the book. I found saw of this book utterly ridiculous and was hugely disappointed by it. The flirting wasn’t even outrageous, it was just stupid. I was rolling my eyes the whole time and I didn’t even remotely believe any of it.

Black Iris by Leah Raeder

Recap: Laney Keating’s world feel apart when her mom committed suicide the same moment she was giving a blowjob, and was immensely bullied by it. When she goes to college, she’s hoping for a fresh start, but when one of the instigators of the bullying arrives at her college, she vows to get her vengeance.

This book is supposed to be an anti-hero story, and I think it definitely had some great potential. I’m super excited to see what this story has to offer, and because of the shortness of the sample, I didn’t get a read much for it, so I guess we’ll have to see!

Becoming Rain by KA Tucker

Recap: Luke Boone doesn’t know exactly what his uncle Rust is doing that’s illegal, but wants in on it, and the life that comes with it. Clara Bertelli is one of the most successful undercover officers in Washington DC and has just been handed a career-making case. Her target? Luke Boone. Eventually, however, lines start to blur and they have to choose sides.

I did not read this sample, because I just read Burying Water, and am soon wanting to read this, and I want to read it at once. Burying Water was phenomenal, so I’m sure this will be, too!

I really enjoyed reading through this sampler, and the books it added to my TBR! Most of them, I’m super interested in what they have in store.

**Disclaimer: I only read a chapter (or two) of each of the above books, so please don’t take my negative reviews too harshly. I may have been completely wrong or they may get magnificent throughout the rest of the book. Who knows?

XOXO,
Kat

NetGalley Review
****ARC provided by via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.****

I'm going to try to touch on each of these samplers and if I will read the book (depending on, of course, the cost of the book)

After the Rain by Renee Carlino - I'm not sure if I would read this book, I'm not really sure exactly what it is, but I don't think I'd really care for the rest of the story. Also, currently as of writing this review the book costs $7.99 on Amazon. Way too much for a book I'm not even sure about!

When You’re Back by Abbi Glines - This one I will probably read. I have read only up to book #8 of the Rosemary Beach series so I have a few more books to go before I get to this one. This one is also expensive ($7.99) and since I no longer have a Scribd account and this series was there (I don't think they are anymore, though) I will have to see about borrowing from the library or from a GR friend or buy it when it is on sale.

Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle - I've not yet read a book by Ms. Halle, but I'm thinking this is probably not the book I should read first. I wasn't too thrilled with it since it felt a bit slow.

Confess by Colleen Hoover - I'm actually excited to read this book. I'm probably one of the very few people who has not yet read a Colleen Hoover book, though I know these books are rated so highly. I do have a few of her books already on my Kindle, but have not yet read. I did get them because they were on sale for $.99 so more than likely I will read those first, but this one is definitely on my list to read as well.

Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh - I'm really not sure about this one. I would probably pick it up if it was on sale or was on KU, but until then there are other books for me to read so more than likely I'll pass on this one.

Black Iris Leah Raeder - This one is not for me, I probably won't ever read this book.

Chasing River by K.A. Tucker - This is a possible read for me, though I usually like to start with the first book of the series and this one is the 3rd. I'll probably read the first two books before I get to this one.

This was a fantastic read. I got to read a few glimpses of books I have yet to read, and books that I have read as well. I like that each story is different from ya, na, and adult. It was very interesting to see each story and how each character met each other and fell in love. Some stories were heartbreaking, while others were just romantic. It was great to read

I was very happy to find this sampler on NetGalley. I'm a fan of Colleen Hoover and Leah Raeder, so I had high hopes for the other authors in this collection. I've also read K.A. Tucker's work, and I'm familiar with Abbi Glines. The other 3 writers were totally new to me, so that was exciting.

The first book, "After the Rain" by Renee Carlino, did catch my attention right out of the bat. It's about a rancher girl who, after just meeting a guy, ends up married to him three months later. And about the cardio surgeon who gets to meet her years after something has happened that let her barely speaking. The blurb let me guessing, and the sample showed enough to make me want to actually buy it, so I can get the full story.

The second book, "When You're Back" by Abbi Glines, was harder to get into since it's a sequel for "When I'm Gone". I haven't read the first one (which is already part of a huge series), so I was totally lost. Can't say I would read it simply because I don't like to jump in the middle of a series, so that wasn't really for me.

The third book, "Where Sea Meets Sky" by Karina Halle, didn't do much for me. I like the heroine, Gemma, because she seemed like a strong, adventurous woman, and even a bit funny. I totally dislike the hero, though. From the little we get in this sample he doesn't have much going on other than his boy parts...

The fourth book is "Confess", by Colleen Hoover. The sample is enough to hook you in and send you running to get this book. It's the story of a girl in need of a job, the new boss she feels a connection to, and his big secret that can ruin it all.

Book number five is "Amber to Ashes" by Gail McHugh. This is the story of Amber, who after a very hard and traumatic life wants to reinvent herself at college. She falls for two best friends, and apparently they all have dark secrets that will create lots of distress for this trio. I'm not into love triangles at all, so I will be skipping this one.

The next book is "Black Iris", by Leah Raeder. I'm a huge fan of Leah's book "Untouchable"! She can write characters that are flawed, raw and real, and she managed to do it again. In this sample we are introduced to Laney, a girl who's has been bullied but decides to seek revenge. It was a very short sample but enough to let you know this is going to be a dark read, and to leave you wanting more.

The last book is "Becoming Rain", by K.A. Tucker. I do like her style, but I just didn't really get into this story. The hero in this story is getting into some illegal activity, and the cop who is suppose to bring him down ends up falling for him. Also, this is the second book in the Burying Water series, and I'm not a fan of jumping in without reading the previous book (which seems way more interesting, by the way!), so that didn't help at all.

I appreciate the chance to read these samples, and I'm definitely buying a couple of the books. Thank you NetGalley and Atria for the opportunity.

Crave: The 2015 Atria Indie Author Sampler is the ultimate tease by seven amazing authors.

Atria books have some of my all time favourite authors. While I have read some of these books, for those who haven't it is a great start to get a feel on some amazing authors or books you have not yet read.

After the Rain by Renee Carlino
After reading Before We Were Strangers and Swear on This Life I was very interested to get a taste of what else Renee has written. After this small sampler it further spiked my interest in Carlino's writing. I look forward to reading this in full length and future work.

When your back by Abbi Glines
Ok so don't shoot me I am a Rosemary's virgin, I have read other books by Abbi but have not yet started this series. I feel a Rosemary's Beachathon coming up shortly!

Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle
I have not yet read any of Karina's books just yet but this sampler gives me reason to hurry up and push her books closer to the top of my TBR list.

Confess by Colleen Hoover
I have already read this book but reading this sampler again just makes me want to dive back into her books and do rereads. Colleen Hoover's draws you in and keeps you captivated.

Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh
I have previously read this book and I couldn't bring myself to read the sampler again, I NEED MORE!

Black Iris by Leah Raeder
I have heard so much about this book, this sampler has me intrigued. It's definitely a book I would like to read more of.

Becoming Rain by K.A Tucker
I will read anything this author writes, I love her storyline and style of writing, each book she writes is flawless I find myself reading from cover to cover. I am a huge KA Tucker fan.

This sampler is definitely worth checking out!

I received this from NetGalley. Crave is a book with samplers of seven stories from seven different authors.
The stories:
After The Rain by Renée Carlino
Many of my friends have told me to read this book and to be honest I have no idea why I haven't yet. I really want to read it after this.

When You're Back by Abbi Glines
I've heard very fantastic things about Abbi's books and it's shocking that I haven't read one yet and it makes me ashamed. The little sample makes me want to see for myself if I'll love the book. I'm sure I'll get this book.

Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle
I haven't heard about Karina but the sample made me want to read her books. Where Sea Meets Sky seemed very interesting to me and I know that I'll love it if I do read it one day.

Confess by Colleen Hoover
I love Colleen's books. Confess is one of her books that I haven't read yet but the sampler makes me want to get it ASAP.

Amber To Ashes by Gail McHugh
Omg. Ryder and Brock. I so wanna read this book. It intrigued me in so many ways. Like did Amber really really kill one of them? Gail is a new author and it's my first time hearing about her but from the short sample I love her writing style and how it keeps me wanting more.

Black Iris by Leah Raeder
I've never her of Leah but I liked Bkack Iris. I felt that with that short sample even if it was short, I connected with Laney and I can't wait to read this book myself.

Becoming Rain by K.A Tucker
I can't wait to read this book. I want to know what happens with Luke and Clara...

I am a huge fan of samplers like this. You get to read new stuff from some of your favourite authors but also get an introduction to some new ones.

The only two authors in this collection that I am familiar with are Abbi Glines and Colleen Hoover. I am a little bit obsessed with Colleen (I mean, who isn't?) And I see Abbi Glines work everything. Seriously, everywhere.
I have already read Confess and in all honest, I'm crazy in love. Colleen can do no wrong.
All the other books in this collection were interesting. They spanned different age groups and each of them had something different to offer. A great sampler for someone wanting to branch out and find some new great authors to pick up.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
To be honest going into it, I thought it would be a compilation of short stories, not snippets of longer stories. So I was kind of let down by it. Some of the stories really drew me in though, and made me want to buy the full stories to finish them. The authors included in this book, are some of my favorite so I loved that. I just really did not get the point of this. I would have bought this, and then I would have spent more money because then I would have to go buy the full version of the books later. Just seems like a money making scheme.

This book includes After The Rain by Renée Carlino, When You're Back by Abbi Glines, Where Sea Meets Sky by Karina Halle, Confess by Colleen Hoover, Amber To Ashes by Gail McHugh, Black Iris by Leah Raeder, and Becoming Rain by K.A Tucker. Some were more intriguing than the others. I am definitely adding Amber To Ashes and Where Sky Meets Rain to my To-Read list.

I really liked this sampler. It made me excited for books I already had on my TBR, and added a couple more to the list.

Previously, I had only read books by Colleen Hoover and Abbi Glines, the sampler introduced me to a handful of new contemporary romance writers, and I really want to read more by those authors.

I received this for a honest review from Netgalley and I was slightly disappointed. My disappointment was because I wanted MORE!!! I wish there was more to the teasers given. An ARC provided by Net Galley as a sampler of new books. I was disappointed that all the books weren't the same length, some books were quick short 1 chapters & some were 2 longer chapters. Each book should be the same amount of chapters to give you a fair look at each.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first chapters of seven books it is meant to be a teaser and a teaser it is. It leaves you wanting more so head on over to buy the books if you haven't already read them when you are done.

Some samplers were great some not so much but at least this sampler helped me to keep my eye out for a couple of interesting new books that stood out.

Didn't realize it was sampler and not novellas. I didn't like that aspect.
