Bert Is Evil, a website created in 1997, “collected incriminating images and documents that prove that Bert is not the lovable harmless geek he so successfully makes us think he is.”
The site sent shocks waves across the Internet, from New York to Bangladesh. Bill Meeks tells the story of Dino Ignacio, a young college student who rocked the online world with his satirical look at Bert from Sesame Street. Ignacio becomes embroiled in conflicts a world away, dodges the Children's Television Workshop, and suffers attacks from journalists as one of the web's first superstars.
Bill Meeks is a creative storyteller in Los Angeles, CA with a career-long record of success engaging audiences in various mediums, such as videos and podcasts.
Bert is Evil is a retrospect of the early days of the internet. It doesn't seem that long ago that we all dialed up and jumped on the www train. It's the story of the one mans rise to stardom for his original viral hits and the fall out from his satire. Elaine Baden is fine as the narrator, though maybe a man would have suited this material better.(sorry) "I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com."
This is an engrossing short history about a website. I really liked the memories it brought back of how it used to be using the web. The only complaint I might have is I wish it was longer. I actually listened to the audio book version instead of reading. The reader's voice was pleasant but just not a good match in my mind.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Bert is Evil by Bill Meeks is a well told story about about how the hit viral website got started and what happened from there. The history and the story behind it is told in an interesting way that keeps the reader's attention. Great book.
