Five Dates from Hell: A Gay Romantic Comedy

Milo Bennett wants one normal date.

No surprise relatives. No fake photos. No men who move into his apartment after one night. No double dates that collapse into public relationship autopsies. No emotionally devastating voice memos sent to the wrong person.

Unfortunately, dating has other plans.

After five increasingly catastrophic dates, Milo is ready to accept that love may simply not be worth the evacuation routes. But when one final disaster introduces him to Eli, a man who can laugh without turning Milo into the punchline, Milo has to face an even more terrifying

Maybe the right person does not make everything go perfectly.

Maybe he just makes the disaster feel survivable.

Five Dates from Hell is a sharp, funny, heartfelt gay romantic comedy about modern dating, chosen family, emotional boundaries, and finding love after every possible exit has failed.

Five dates. Zero dignity. One chance at something real.

After Date #1:
Quote:
"I leaned back against the brick wall and laughed. Not because it had been fun. Not because I was not disappointed. But because sometimes the only thing standing between heartbreak and survival was a best friend, a back exit, and a stolen breadstick in an alley." (the author)

I can commiserate...not that I've had exactly this kind of date, not exactly... but one time the date I was on was so cringe-worthy and the guy so tenacious and obnoxious, that I excused myself to hit up the bathroom and walked all the way back into the kitchen, startling the crew, explaining that I needed to go out the back door for my own safety, so they showed me out, no problem. At least my truck was parked out back, fortuitously, and I had left nothing at the table! My answering service got a couple of calls from him and then nothing more and thankfully he had no idea where I lived since I drove myself to this first date. Yeah, a dating app, lol.

But I digress...

Humorous romp through bad date nightmares, I liked the way Milo rolled through each disaster and didn't let those dating disasters get him down for long, nor turn him into a jaded asshole!

His best friend, Tessa, was a bit OTT supportive in unexpected ways, but she always had his back in a crisis!

Five disastrous dates, all ending in dramatically unexpected scenarios!

I loved how the sixth date played out!

Charming storyline; I'm still smiling!

Two thumbs up! 👍👍

Great balance of romance and comedy

Every date is a disaster, but more than just the universe being absurd, there is a reality underneath the ridiculous that makes it worth staying.
