KAYDEN

I’m a sinner by default, but corrupting a Little Demon wasn’t in my cards.
Until my father announces he’s getting remarried, and she shows up with his future wife.
Madelyn is innocent, fragile, gorgeous, and when we’re introduced—it’s hate at first sight.

I’m used to being on my own, and her sticking her nose in my business and seeking my attention
unleashes a beast in me. But the more I push her, the more I realize that despite her good girl
image, Madelyn knows how to play bad.

So, I take the bait. I play her game. I become obsessed.
I’m no good for her, and it’s too late now. I’ve got no intention to stop.
I’m going to make her beg me to make her mine.

Make You Beg is an enemies-to-lovers, new adult, forbidden dark romance. It's the first book in
chronological order of the Hide and Seek duet. It serves as a setup for Make You Mine, and ends
on a cliffhanger.

This was such a fun, angsty, forbidden read.

Maddy and Kayden have so much tension between them, and I loved their constant teasing, pranks, and undeniable chemistry. Their dynamic had me hooked.

I really enjoyed how layered their relationship felt. Kayden’s struggles and Maddy’s inner conflict gave their connection more depth, while their softer moments showed that there was more underneath all the fighting. Their push-and-pull kept me invested from beginning to end.

And that ending?! I am SO glad I had the next book ready because there was no way I could stop there. This was a great introduction to their story, and I am absolutely ready to see how it all unfolds.

I am already turning the page because I need to know how this plays out.

See you in Book 2!

A huge thank you to Mia Goode for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨

I enjoyed reading this and getting some background on Maddy and Kayden. I’m looking forward to seeing where they go and how things proceed from where this book left off. While it may not be necessary to read before Make You Mine, if you want a little back story on these two I’d start with this.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC copy for me to review! /ᐠ. 。.ᐟ\ᵐᵉᵒʷˎˊ˗

Ahhh, Maddy and Kayden. Kayden and Maddy. Where do I even start? These two are each other's drug; their addiction. Especially Maddy. Kayden gives in so easily to her pull but Maddy fights him every step of the way even though she wants him just as badly.

It started off a bit slow, but once it picked up, boy, did it pick up. I ate this book up! Kayden is a bully, but Maddy becomes his soft spot. They have a lot of push and pull. Mostly Maddy pushing and Kayden pulling. She loves to hate him, and he loves to antagonize her. Honestly, he falls first. Yeah, he 100% falls first. In the beginning, he definitely bullies her because he has a lot of animosity towards her, but as the book progresses, those feelings grow into something a bit softer. But only a bit. Don’t misunderstand. He’s a bully throughout the entire book, but he’s a bully that cares.

And Maddy...oh, Maddy. My girl is going through it. She dislikes Kayden as soon as they meet, but that’s because he makes absolutely zero effort to be anything but a bully. And that sets a precedent for what happens at the end of the book. Maddy never truly forgives him for it, even though they start to connect and share softer moments with each other. She wants him, but she fights her feelings and in doing that, she assumes a lot about Kayden’s actions near the end of the book. Her actions reflect these assumptions and Kayden’s actions end up being a reflection of hers. She pushes him and he pushes her back. An eye for an eye. Except it wasn’t Kayden who took her eye in the first place. Someone completely sabotages their budding relationship. But I must say, Maddy truly gets the last laugh here because- damn. She sets our man up for one hell of a repercussion.

This is the first book in a duet, so it does end on a cliffhanger. This book does have spice, but it’s minimal and happens once they are in college. I’m looking forward to the next book! I need to know who did it! (Never thought I’d say that about a romance, but here we are.)

That’s how this started and ended ?!?!? Seriously ?!?!? I am sooooo glad that I had the next one to start it right away because what ?!? There was no way that I would be able to wait any longer to read it. These two. Playing pranks on each other. But also being able to sit down and be their true selves with each other. These two can’t stand each other but the attraction can be felt through the book. I cannot wait to read the next one and see what comes next 💥

ARC review ❗️❗️❗️ okay!!! So this was actually insane. I don’t usually read the slow burn romances, but this started off crazy and ended even crazier 🤣 From a house fire on page 1 to what goes on in the last chapter, I was hooked. Maddy and Kayden just became some of my favs and I can’t wait to see what happens with their story next.

This was very interesting to read, and I really do feel like it is important to read this before Make you mine. I mean the other can be read alone but this truly does help give a history of their relationship. How far it progresses and why it fails. I am actually a big fan of stepbrother tropes. I find it really interesting, it is more angsty and passionate I suppose. I really felt for Maddy and Kayden and the struggles they felt. I get why Maddy feels how she feels about Kayden and his behavior. She struggles with the attraction she feels towards a guy who is her stepbrother and how wrong it is. Technically it is not wrong because they did not grow up together from a young age as siblings, so I feel that they were not in the wrong. I was irritated by Kayden and his dramatics at times, but I can see why he did and felt as he did. His father is quite a piece of work. Very abusive man and beat him all the way until the end of this book. I did not understand why the video was loaded into her project, but it did Kayden a favor in the end even if it separated them.
Kayden was very troubled and did not understand how to process his feelings ever since his mother died. He seems quite torn by a battle going on inside him and he took it out on Maddy. He is obsessed with her and wants her but at the same time hates what she represents.
Maddy has a deep desire for Kayden and does not know how to get past it. She tests him at every turn then when he gives in to her, she pushes him away ashamed and vice versa. He does not react well and treats her like crap in turn. She is not a weak girl by any means, and she gets back at him hard. I hate what her mother goes through in her marriage, and you only briefly get a feel for that. Maddy plots vengeance on Kayden by making a deal with his dad and this ends up being a huge turning point for multiple characters.
I highly recommend this dark romance, and it is just a taste of their story. Read on to find out the conclusion to their story in Make You Mine.

A really quick, spicy, forbidden read.

Maddy is a good girl, loves her mother & wants her life thought out after high school. They may be struggling financially, but it’s been them against the world since Maddy’s dad walked out when she was 9. So why does her mom insist on taking her to meet Lucas, her new boyfriend?

Kayden is a year older than Maddy, and nothing but trouble. At least that’s what his dad has made him feel all these years. And it’s just been the two of them since that accident last year, the one that made them move. Usually his dad wants nothing to do with him, so why is he being forced to attend this dinner?

Maddy wants nothing more than to break up her mom & Lucas. Kayden wants nothing more than to break Maddy, his new step sister. And the more she tries to call a truce & get to know him, the more she unravels him. And the more that Kayden unravels, & reveals pieces of himself the more Maddy wants him.

The slow burn on this, it builds. And when it crashes for Maddy, she definitely feels it. The banter between her and Kayden is good. You feel for Kayden when it comes to dealing with his dad. There’s something there, something that goes back to the beginning of the book that is missing & why Lucas acts the way he does.

The book ends on a cliffhanger. Why does Madeline stay? What happens when Kayden leaves? Who planted the USB? Do we find out more about the fire & his twin?
I can’t wait to read the second book and find out!

I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy & I’m writing this review voluntarily.

I wasn’t sure what I was getting into with this one, all I know is I saw step-siblings and jumped head first. This is the first book / prequel to Make You Mine, the Hide and Seek duet by Mia Goode. In true enemies to lovers fashion, this book had me hooked from the very first page. Mia did an amazing job capturing the animosity between Maddy and Kayden. From the typical antics of step-siblings to the secrets behind closed doors I couldn’t put this book down. Sitting at 192 pages it was the perfect amount to captivate me and keep me wanting more at the same time.

When Maddy’s mom finds herself in a new relationship that quickly turns into a marriage, Maddy finds herself with an unsuspecting enemy, her step-brother Kayden. When all Kayden’s life he’s been thrown upturn after upturn, he finds himself in the throws of his father latest quest, a new family. All Kayden wants is to play hockey and get away from his father’s grasp, he makes it known, he doesn’t need some “little sister” to bother him. Trying to keep her away he ups his antics and makes himself a constant itch in Maddy’s life. Maddy gains some courage and decides she not going to shy away from the battle Kayden just started. Planning her revenge becomes the sweetest treat she can imagine.

This ends on a very minor cliff hanger, and I can honestly say I can’t wait to jump into the second book! Make You Beg is out now! Make You Mine; the second book releases Sept 2nd.

Okay, this one was definitely a wild ride! 😳 Make You Beg is a dark, taboo stepbrother romance centered around Madelyn and Kayden, and the tension between these two is intense from the very beginning.

Kayden is supposed to be the last person Madelyn should want. When their parents decide to marry, they’re suddenly thrown into forced proximity, and instead of becoming one happy blended family, the two develop a serious hate-for-each-other dynamic. Kayden is constantly pushing Madelyn’s buttons and tormenting her, while she does her best to stand her ground.

What really got me was that Kayden’s behavior isn’t as simple as just being cruel. There’s an obsessive, possessive side to him, and underneath all that bullying, there are hints that he may actually be trying to protect Madelyn in his own messed-up way. That made their relationship so frustrating but also impossible to stop reading.

The story moves quickly, with plenty of angst, forbidden attraction, secrets, and that constant feeling that something is about to blow up. The step-sibling/forced-proximity and mutual-hate setup definitely gives this one an extra layer of tension.

If you like your romances dark, complicated, morally gray, and full of characters who make questionable decisions, this one is worth checking out. Just definitely check the trigger warnings first because this is not a sweet romance.

This was such a fun read but also with so many emotional moments...

The beginning of the book caught my attention immediately and it never let go. I loved Kayden and Maddy since the first moment and it was so funny to see their interactions!

This book was exactly what I needed. The FMC might look innocent on the outside but she is a true smut reader at heart. And then we have the MMC… sarcastic, funny and absolutely unhinged. And we can all say we hate his father, right?

And the way he calls her "Little Demon"? I think it's my new favorite nickname! 🖤

Underneath all the incredible tension and amazing spicy scenes, there is a beautiful emotional core. Both of them are just searching for that one person who will truly choose them and see them for who they are. The MMC’s vulnerability, his fear of showing her his true, dark personality, and his realization that no one has ever cared for him as much as she does completely won me over.

And when people ask what you're reading and you have to hide that it’s pure literary porn?… 🫣 We have all been there and Make You Beg captures that exact hilarious panic perfectly!

And that ending?! I need answers immediately! So glad I already have the sequel ready to go!

Thank you so much Mia for this ARC!

I ate this right up 😮‍💨

4.5 ✨ 3 🌶️
This is the first book chronologically in the Hide and Seek duet! The books can be read in any order, but I chose to do this one first.

The book starts when Madelyn and Kayden first meeting as teenagers when their parents announce they are getting married. Enter lots of tension and forbidden romance because *step siblings* 😅

Madelyn is a dark romance girlie so she enjoys Kayden’s antics. I loved the banter and the tension between the two.

And then the spice 😮‍💨
“Not God. You know my name. You can say it while **** you with my 👅”

The ending 😅 I’m starting book 2 immediately. Overall, this felt like a solid beginning to what I’m assuming is about to be a super spicy second book.

This is great for those who love dark romance, bully romance, “oh no, step brother,” hand necklaces, trigger warnings, etc 🙂‍↕️

Release Date: August 26th

THIS BOOK IS WHAT YOU NEED TO GET OUT FROM A READING SLUMP🫶🏻💖

I just finished it a second ago, and it’s simply the perfect stepbrother dark romance.

I loved every minute of it. Maddy is so sweet and cute—I love her—and I really want her to have a happy ending.
Kayden is a dream with horns. Since we know his backstory, it makes sense why he does what he does.

My feelings of love and hate alternate as the story unfolds.

I love the author’s voice, and I love the characters who, as teens, are trying to balance good and evil.

If you’re in a reading slump, READ THIS! The plot unfolds so effortlessly, with the two main characters at the center. I could relate to them right away.

I’m so grateful that the author entrusted me with her story even before it was published, and now I’ve finally gotten back into reading.

I’m rushing to read the next part because the ending, man, was a real cliffhanger—it just leaves you wanting more.

This book has all of the elements that make a bully stepbrother romance good. It has the irrational hatred the stepbrother feels for the stepsister, the bullying that makes even her friends turn against her and the sexual tension that makes it so hot. What differs here is that the FMC, Maddy, isn’t a pushover that cowers and allows her bully to intimidate her. She doesn’t let her stepbrother, Kayden, get away with anything. The whole book is filled with pushing and pulling until eventually Maddy and Kayden give in (somewhat) to their desires. And then, of course, everything explodes. When it does, we are left with a cliffhanger that makes you want to dive into the next book immediately. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. This book has a lot of dark themes so be sure to read the trigger warnings if you have any.

First book in a duet with secrets, forced proximity and forbidden love. Kayden who can not live up to his father’s expectations since his mother passed away. He has endured many beatings and defies his father at every chance. Maddy whose father left when she was younger and now is just her and her mom. Maddy’s mom and Kaydens dad are now together and end up married.
Maddy can not get away from Kayden and the thoughts she has about him. She is intrigued and annoyed at the same time.
Kayden does not want a sister and now has to protect her from her father’s ways. But now has feelings of obsession when it comes to Maddy
There is humor and sensitive subjects so check your triggers. This book had me reading till the end to see what happens and can not wait for book two to come out to see how the story continues to unfold.

This was a good intro to our fmc and mmc. I like that we get to see how Maddy's mom marrying Kayden's dad forced a change on how she dressed and acted, which really showed his abuse and control without actually touching Maddy. Then we see the actual affect that Kayden's dad has on him, in his behavior and mentality with how he sees others and views life. I liked the development between Maddy and Kayden, the reluctance turning to something more over time. Not too much spice, I think the author kept it tasteful for the ages of our characters.

This is a good way to understand the next part of the story, and I know that the author said you don't really need to read this to read book two, I do think there is important background to understand book two better and would recommend reading this book first.

ARC review of Make You Beg - thank you Mia Goode!!💕

If you love a forbidden, step-sibling romance with a slow burn (I’m looking at you - Little Stranger fans), then you’re going to want to read this duet!
Our two main characters Madelyn & Kayden meet right as their high school years are coming to an end and forced to get along with each other when their parents plan a very last minute wedding. The pages are full of teenage angst, jealousy, and forbidden attraction, but our characters are still young and don’t quite know what to do with their feelings for each other..

This was a super fun, quick read, and was really well done for a debut novel!

⭐️I read the books can in chronological order, but they can also be read in reverse order if you love a good mystery 👀

I ate this book up in one sitting! This is the first book in the duet, and it’s the perfect stepbrother, bully dark romance. The story starts with the main characters as teenagers, when their families are thrown together following the announcement of their parents’ engagement. From the very beginning, this book is packed with tension, forbidden desire, and that delicious push and pull between the two of them.

The banter was so much fun to read, and I loved watching their relationship develop as they constantly pushed each other’s buttons. The spice comes later, but trust me, it was worth the wait.

And that ending… OH MY GOD! I will be running straight to the next book because I NEED to know what happens next!

I love a book where the main couple start off as enemies such as Kayden and Maddie. Their parents marry and force proximity on them. The chemistry is there but neither of them want to really pursue a relationship except that Kayden keeps aggravating Maddie to force a response.

He finagles his way into being allowed to attend the same college as she does and that doesn't go well for her. The push/pull of their relationship, as such, ends in a disaster that gets them both suspended. Maddie thinks that Kayden betrayed her, but he is adamant that he is innocent. Maddie doesn't believe that and she comes up with a way that they go their separate ways.

This is how book one ends and I'm glad we had some insight to the beginning of their relationship. Getting ready to start book #2.

Make You Beg is an impressive debut from Mia Goode. From the very beginning, I was drawn into the story and found myself invested in the characters and where their journey was headed.

The storyline was engaging, with just the right mix of romance, emotion, and tension to keep the pages turning. While there were a few moments that kept this from being a full five-star read for me, I genuinely enjoyed the overall experience and appreciated how well the story unfolded.

For a debut novel, this was incredibly strong, and I'm excited to see what Mia Goode writes next. If you're looking for a romance with an engaging plot and memorable characters, Make You Beg is definitely worth picking up.

Madelyn & Kayden
Madelyn and Kayden are about to become step siblings. Before the wedding even happened, the hate between each other started. As time goes by, Kayden continues to bully her. Eventually, things escalate between them, and bad things happen as a result. Secrets are kept until some are exposed.
Kayden torments Madelyn, and she tries to fight back, but he just gets meaner. But, then again, in his own way, he is trying to protect her.
If you like the taboo of step siblings that hate each other in forced proximity, you will enjoy this book.

ARC Review 3.5/5

I love a good taboo step siblings and throw in hockey ( I wish there was more hockey talk)

Kayden is a year older than Madelyn. He's a hockey player and has some dark secrets he's hiding and it might just be because his dad sucks.

Madelyn is the good girl, but she fantasizes about things a good girl shouldn't. Oh and she loves a good smutty book (like the rest of us!)

Make You Beg gives you some back story on Mady and Kayden before you get to book two! If you like step siblings who prank each other because they "hate" one another then you'll enjoy this one.

It does have some spice, but it is a slow burn for how short it is!

I devoured this book in a few hours! Forbidden, Bully romance It had me hooked from chapter 1. Kayden and Maddy met as teens when their parents announce their engagement. This is instant attraction between the new step siblings. However, Kayden takes to bullying Maddy instead of accepting her. Eventually they find a way to break down their walls and get to know one another. They both do not want to admit their feelings are more. There is this constant push and pull with them. By the end Maddy is embarrassed in front of a college class while giving a presentation and she vows to ruin Kayden’s life.

Read this book if you’re in a reading slump, because I promise you, this book will kick that slump straight out the door. 📚🔥

Step-sibling trope?! YES, PLEASE. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and absolutely loved both Kaden and Maddy.

Maddy is super cute and sweet, but she definitely has a dark side. And with everything Kaden has been through, you can understand why he is the way he is.

Half the time, I wanted to slap some sense into him, and the other half I was thinking about climbing him like a tree. 🥵

It’s the perfect novella to lead into the second book, and now I NEED to know what happens next!

Where do I start? This was so freaking good! It has a good story going! I loved every bit of this book! I kept thinking about it even after just reading it lol. It had me so hooked that I had to know what happened next. I wanted to keep reading..

I feel so bad for Kayden! He is deranged but also what he has to deal with, is horrible. I couldn't stop smiling and blushing at all the things he kept saying to Madelyn. The nickname he has for her had my heart racing lol..

This whole story had me feeling things and thinking things. This book will have you wanting to stay up late and read when no one is around. Read the triggers first!

In make you beg you get to meet Maddy & Kayden. Maddy & Kayden become step siblings at age 16 & 17. Once Kayden lays his eyes on Maddy at Lunch w/ their parents it’s over. She is HIS, she just doesn’t know it yet. Make You Beg had me giggling kicking my feet throughout the whole book!
Just when I thought Maddy & Kayden would have a break through NOPE, I was WRONG. Oh don’t get me started on the Cliff Hanger at the the end.
That was just RUDE of Mia.

If you enjoy, Step Siblings, Enemies to Lovers (and I do mean ENEMIES), Forced Proximity, New Adult, Morally Grey X Inexperienced FMC. This is for you.

I’m such a sucker for an MMC who is a little bit (a lot) broken and Kayden definitely fits the bill. This book has a little bit of everything... bully step-brother (a favorite trope of mine), a psychotic father figure, an FMC who just wants to live her life and a tenuous, sometimes unhinged, sometimes hot, sometimes hot AND unhinged relationship between the FMC and MMC. This was such a FUN read that ends in a bit of a cliff hanger and ready to read book two!!! I am so happy I was selected for this ARC, it has been such a great ride so far! Go pre-order this duet. 😉

Mia Goode is a new-to-me author, and I came across her Instagram post looking for ARC readers. After reading the tropes for this book, I instantly knew it was going to be a good one! And let’s be honest… I’m a sucker for a step-sibling romance. 😏

It’s definitely a slow burn, but trust me—the wait is SO worth it for the buildup. The tension between the MMC and FMC was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 and had me completely hooked!

I’ll definitely be reading more of this author’s work. 🖤

First of all, I need goodreads to get with the program and give us half stars already because this definitely deserves that 4.5! Make You Beg is a forbidden dark romance with step-siblings. Kayden is morally grey and enjoys pranking and tormenting Maddy who is very inexperienced but gives it back to him pretty good. My only complaint is that it wasnt longer! But that ending? Quick, spicy, and forbidden!! That’s all you need to know. This quick novella draws you in with the story of Kayden and Maddy. This book sets the stage of the past they have together and how it all started for them. This is the perfect first part to the duet as it leaves you on edge and READY for the next book. This book is full of forbidden tension, difficult parent dynamics and full of Easter eggs for the second part. Such an incredible debut book for Mia Goode!Thank you for the chance to ARC read!!!
