You ain’t gonna like the male character, he is not a nice exemplar of humans. But you will believe that he is real, and you will want to know what will happen with the ‘perfect’ couple. And that end. Yes! This is how it should be.

I thought the premise of this book was interesting, and it was a quick, easy read that held my attention. But the typos and grammatical errors were a huge distraction for me. This book needs to be proofread and edited.

It is hard to believe that this book was written by a woman. The way that Paul Davis described women (for what seemed like every chapter) was appalling and overall unnecessary to get the point across that he doesn't respect them. Additionally, the beginning of the book felt to drag on describing the exact same scenarios over and over again. With that being said, the ending was rushed and predictable. I finished this booking hoping that throughout the chapters it would redeem itself but it never did. 1/5 stars is generous.

I received a free copy of, A Beautiful Couple, by Leslie Wolfe, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I read this book as part of CampNetgalley. They might be a beautiful couple to look at, but they are ugly on the inside, especially Paul. I did not like the language in this book, but it was a wild ride.

I actually don't know how to write a review about this. I hated every single second of reading it. It's not the first time reading about an absolute pig of a character but Paul was truly on another level. He made me crave violence and I'm not a violent person. I wasn't interested in anything else except for him to be thrown in prison. What absolute trash of a man, no puns intended (for the trash of course)

My mother taught me to say nothing if I have nothing nice to say, so, I was going to say nothing, but I'm compelled to warn others about the gross misrepresentation in the ratings. This book read like a 16 year old "with a passion" for writing sat down one weekend and pushed out her first "novel". Drivel. Don't bother.

insane plot, and insane how everything played out. i certainly did not see a lot of things coming. the writing was very addicting and makes you not want to put it down. unfortunately all of the characters were so ungodly unbearable. and the ending/ last two chapters were laaameeeee. great ideas, i just think they could've been executed better

After leaving a star-studded event at which Paul enjoyed several drinks and was the keynote speaker, Paul confidently climbs behind the wheel, even though Amanda said she should be driving. His hubris will be his downfall. On the way home, a figure shrouded in darkness appears before them, and before Paul can react, the pedestrian is dead.
Thinking only of himself and his reputation, Paul coerces his wife to help him move the body, tossing it down a ravine. Has he just made Amanda his accomplice?

I so enjoyed the trickery and seeing a certain someone get what was deserved. This book is available now on KU and in paperback.

Not very good. I struggled with this one. Almost DNF’d. The characters were flawed and it was extremely unrealistic even for fiction. The MMC was Paul Davis. Famous news anchor in LA, extremely handsome and narcissistic. He was emotionally abusive towards his wife and other women. He was entitled and downright awful. Then there is the wife Amanda. An ER nurse who was weak. She was afraid or terrified the entire book, so annoying. One fateful evening after a big fundraiser an event happens that changes their lives to live on edge and not trust each other. Amanda was already done with Paul prior to this happening. But she lived more in fear instead of just moving out and taking her son with her. All Paul does is throw his pathetic “fame” around and use people to his benefit. At one point Amanda decides to cheat on her husband only to be almost r@Ped but the guy falls down the stairs and died. Instead of calling the police and explaining self defense, she calls the man she’s trying to divorce????? It made about zero sense. The story only continues to go downhill from there. It was choppy, strange and boring. Two thumbs down 👎🏻 👎🏻

In A Beautiful Couple, Wolfe proves Miguel de Cervantes' statement well, "Tell me your company, and I will tell you what you are" (Don Quixote). People increasingly resemble the people they surround themselves with- terrible news for Amanda because Paul is a horrid human being!
I had to sit on this review for a while, pondering the ending. Did the denouement justify the disgusting irony, weak female main character, vile male main character, and crimes along the way? My conclusion is no. Secondly, as someone who knows and cares about facts and police procedures, this book made soooo many eye rolling errors. And finally, readers who like to root for *any* character in a story will find this book frustrating as everyone is a trash human. The conclusion attempted to reconcile the issues presented, but it too falls short of satisfaction, leaving readers discouraged and uncomfortable. Let's break it down! Definitely check triggers below- its own novel- if you're concerned about content warning.
A Beautiful Couple is a dual POV story of criminal couple ER nurse Amanda and famous TV personality Paul Davis. While there are many flashbacks dispersed throughout the book, most of the story follows the Davis' post-accident, attempting to justify Amanda's crimes while painting Paul in an increasingly unstable light. The flashbacks prove Paul's character in direct opposition to the book's description. As for Amanda, I hated how Wolfe tries to explain her choices away as if she's a victim. She's just as guilty as Paul- technically more IMO.
What went right: I love that paranoia increased throughout the book. That aspect brought good tension and a sense of urgency to the plot. Wild that Wolfe has Paul do a specific news report.
What went wrong: while reading, I could not reconcile Amanda being a capable ER nurse and so stupid. Should we be concerned that nurses are that dumb? Wolfe tells us about their relationship history and yet Amanda doesn't record anything? She doesn't plan better? Seek help? Run away? Amanda, no matter how often we're told otherwise, does not want to leave Paul. Going to the police and turning him in would have given her full custody to cut and run. Especially after he continues to make horrible choices! Paul's job would not care about Amanda, so that plot line was felt forced. Also, Amanda's second act actions? Seriously? Survival skills of a guinea pig! Twice! Does she have a death wish or is Wolfe trying to convey just how unintelligent Amanda is?
Technical issues: Most cars with lane assist will call 911 if the sensors detect an accident. Police would have inspected the front of a vehicle for accident damage if they saw the windshield damage described. Most officers are well trained and not lazy. That officer wasn't lazy because he stopped them when he could have let them go. Tiny note, but broke my suspension of disbelief, vehicles are on, in neutral, for these automated carwashes. Paul would not need to turn it on at the end of the wash before driving away. And hilarious that Wolfe tries to convince readers that these two "beautiful" people (who seem to have no other skills) can successfully change 8 tires with no calibrated torque wrench. Too funny.
Final opinions: described as "twisty psychological thriller", this novel falls short of that entertainment level. "Amanda begins to see a side of Paul she’s never known"- what do you mean? He's been abusive for a while now?! There is no "love, loyalty, or trust" in this abusive, scheming relationship. There's loathing, blackmail, and double lives. How could Amanda make the decisions she did without understanding the full scope of her actions for herself? Should we be worried about the mental competency of all nurses?
Troupes: villainous MMC, weak FMC, unreliable narrator, unlikeable protagonist, criminal justification, marriage strife, troubled detective, red herring, big reveal

A Beautiful Couple was my first Leslie Wolfe book, and it definitely won’t be my last. Amanda seems to have the perfect life until one terrible accident changes everything. As she gets pulled deeper into lies, manipulation, and secrets, she starts questioning the man she thought she knew.
From the very first line, “I killed a man,” I was hooked. I kept trying to figure out the twist… and I was completely wrong! This one had me turning pages late into the night because I just had to know what happened next. If you love psychological thrillers with plenty of suspense and twists you won’t see coming, I highly recommend adding this one to your TBR.

I’ve read a few of Wolfe books. I really like this author. It’s a simple theme yet it pulls you in for the ride. The arrogant husband hits and kills a woman while drunkenly driving home after a huge fundraiser for drunk driving!! There is a really good twist at the end!

This was no bueno.
The characters were insufferable. Paul was awful and Amanda had no depth. Leave your husband. Okay so he has a video of you puking bc you drank too much? Leave him! That shouldn’t hold so much power over you.
And then so many loose ends. Uhh Amanda goes home with some guy, kills him, stuffs him in a freezer and we don’t hear what happens? She’s off easy peasy bc of the deal?
Ugh I just didn’t like this book. How is it 4 stars?

This was sitting comfortably at a solid 4-star read...and then that final reveal happened.
Yep. **Five stars.** 🤯
From the very first chapter, I was completely invested in watching this disaster unfold. Every time I thought Paul couldn't possibly make the situation any worse, he somehow found a brand-new way to dig the hole even deeper. Seriously...what a dumbass. 😂 Amanda and Paul spend so much of the story trying to stay one step ahead, covering their tracks and convincing themselves they can control the chaos. Watching everything slowly unravel was impossible to look away from. Every lie led to another lie, every decision made the situation worse, and I couldn't stop turning the pages to see just how long they could keep it all together. Just when I thought I knew where things were heading, Leslie Wolfe pulled the rug right out from under me. That final reveal completely changed my opinion of the book and elevated it from a really entertaining domestic thriller to one I'll be recommending.
If you enjoy psychological thrillers full of lies, manipulation, toxic relationships, and watching people make one terrible decision after another, this is absolutely worth picking up.

3.5 stars rounded up. The premise of this one immediately hooked me. A husband kills someone, his wife is the only witness, and suddenly they’re both trying to keep their perfect life from completely falling apart. I couldn’t wait to see how everything was going to unravel.
I will say, though, that while this is described as a fast-paced thriller, it felt a little slower than I was expecting. I flew through the beginning, but the middle lost some of that momentum for me. There were also a few side storylines that didn’t feel like they added much to the overall mystery.
Paul was definitely the kind of character you’re supposed to hate, and I found myself constantly wondering what he was going to do next. Even when the pacing slowed down, I still wanted to know how everything was going to play out for Amanda and whether she’d finally be able to break free from everything she was caught up in. The ending picked the pace back up, but I was left wishing it had gone just a little further. I would have loved a bit more closure because it felt like a few things wrapped up pretty quickly.
Overall, I enjoyed this one, even if it didn’t completely live up to the fast-paced thriller I was expecting. If you enjoy domestic psychological thrillers filled with manipulation, toxic relationships, and plenty of suspense, I think this one is still worth picking up.

Amanda ve Paul çifti bir davetten çıktıktan sonra eve giderken arabayla bir kaza yaparlar, çarptıkları kişi ölür. Arabayı Paul kullanıyordu. Amanda hemen polisi aramak istedi fakat Paul izin vermedi. Zaten evlilikleri sallantıdaydı, şimdi Amanda tamamen çıkmazda. Paul manipülatif, bencil, gözü dışarıda, aldatıyor ve TV yıldızı haber sunucusu herkes ona hayran bla bla bla.
Paul bu şan şöhreti kaybetmek istemiyor, boşanmakta istemiyor karısını oğluyla tehdit ediyor bu yaptığı kazanın üzerini örtmek için Amanda ile birlikte çalışıyorlar. Fakat Amanda böyle olacağını bilmiyordu. Gittikçe sıkıştı, hapiste gibi Paul'a daha ne kadar katlanabilir?
Karakterlerin açık açık düşüncelerini okuyoruz, Paul'u okumak sinir bozucu olabilir kabul ediyorum zaten bu tavırları sebebiyle ne kadar ileri gidebilir böyle insanlar var mı vs diye sorguluyorsunuz ve hikayeye kapılıyorsunuz. Tempo yüksek, ne zaman yakalanacaklar diye merak etmekten yerimde duramadım, kusurlu hasta karakter hayranları sevecektir. Ben sevdim. 🤌

Karakterlerin açık açık düşüncelerini okuyoruz, Paul'u okumak sinir bozucu olabilir kabul ediyorum zaten bu tavırları sebebiyle ne kadar ileri gidebilir böyle insanlar var mı vs diye sorguluyorsunuz ve hikayeye kapılıyorsunuz. Tempo yüksek, ne zaman yakalanacaklar diye merak etmekten yerimde duramadım, kusurlu hasta karakter hayranları sevecektir. Ben sevdim. 🤌

I am really becoming a fan of Leslie Wolfe for their psychological thrillers. This is the second one I have read and absolutely loved. I loved to hate the characters especially Paul just the epitome of mysoginistic ass. However, I did enjoy both of their careers for characters in a novel as I don't see Emergency room doc and a news anchor all that often. FMC is awesome and awful at the same time but I can't say I wouldn't do something similar in her situation. Great ending.

I absolutely loved this book! Great plot and characters. I felt invested in the storyline and it definitely kept me guessing throughout the book! I also enjoyed the quick chapters, it was easy to finish!

I mostly liked the book? It was a fast read. Paul sucks. Amanda is kind of frustrating lol. I don’t get why some parts of the book were included and I did not see the ending coming. I didn’t hate it and I didn’t love it.

I thought I was going to enjoy this book more than I actually did. Now, don't get me wrong, it's pretty good, but the depths in which this couple was messed up and disturbed just got on my nerves, lol! They partly stressed me and partly just irritated me. 😤 The ending is what made me round up the stars to 4!! I loved the ending!

Oh boy. Another thriller that I want to skip to the end to find out what happens but at the same time I know that you aren't ment to have dessert before your main course and guess what? you are in for a real treat with this book. I love how the author sucks you into the story with everything that the characters are going through, it means you can't put the book down until you find how they are going to get out of it. There is always a twist that you don't see coming and no matter how many books by this author you have read, she always manages to surprise you with the ending and keeps you thinking about it long after you have finished reading it. I can't wait for the next book.

I've really gotten into physiological thrillers over the past couple years and am always impressed if I can discover an author who can come up with an original idea and make it work. Leslie Wolfe has accomplished this and I will definitely be reading more of her work. I was thoroughly engaged in the story and in the back of my mind was struggling to see how this was going to get resolved as it seemed impossible. However she did it and it was a plausible ending. Happy to have found a new author to enjoy!

I couldn't wait for this one to be finished and I don't understand all the 5 star reviews. No doubt Amanda's husband was a total jerk but who would believe that he could take her son away, there wasn't any reason to. What happened to the hunky doctor? suddenly he was written out of the book. Not interesting definitely not as advertised
