Picking up where 'Unveiled' left off, 'Confessed' has Ryker working on a plan to rescue Hattie. Still being held hostage by a rival cartel, Hattie is experiencing the poor treatment that she was spared with her first kidnapping. This time around, violence and the fear of far worse are a grim reality for Hattie.

While there continue to be some issues with this story, I do think that the author has shown some improvement with each book. This book was much closer to the "dark" romantic suspense that I had anticipated when I started this series, which was a big plus for me. The first book didn't deliver on the promises of dark content, but this book certainly did.

Although I did have many of the same problems with this book that I had with it's predecessors. The storyline seems to progress in a rushed, and often disjointed, manner. Major turning points in the story seem to warrant little more than a snap of the fingers and aren't fleshed out.

Ryker and Hattie's relationship also needs a little more work to be believable to me. I need more to support their connection if I'm to believe that they're as deeply in love as the book says. I'm not sold on their undying love. I need more.

That being said, this book did move at a faster pace for me. It had plenty of action to hold my attention. There was never a dull moment with this one.

Overall, this was an "okay" book for me. In fact, that is how I'd rate the whole series. It seemed to get a little better as it went along, but it needed a lot more work. Not one of the better stories of this type that I've read, but definitely not the worst either.

TITLE: Confessed
SERIES: (Vargas Cartel, #3)
AUTHOR: Lisa Cardiff
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: October 06th, 2015

MY RATING:5 STARS

This starts right off where the previous book Unveiled (Vargas Cartel, #2) ended..

I remembered fighting with that man on the street. I remembered him striking my head with his gun, but after that, everything is blurry like a fragmented nightmare. A long car ride with a musty pillowcase over my head. Arguments about where to take me. Being pulled out of the car as my knees scraped across the dirt. A phone call to Ryker, then nothing...until now.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

He was my weakness, my achilles heel, my krytonite, my everything..

This book like the rest in this series just keeps you on the edge of your seat with the grittiness of it, the angst, the what the f*ck is going to come at me next, are they going to get their HEA or is that just an illusion..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Loyalties shifted like the wind. money and power spoke louder than blood ties.

She'd always be my soft spot. My enemies wouldn't hesitate to use her to get to me.I had to eliminate them before they eliminated us.

I knew as soon as I hit half way that like the previous books this was going to be another 5 star read for me, mafia reads are another genre I jump on, this whole series has exceeded my expectations, it's got the blood, the gore, the romance, the grit, and at times a little bit of darkness was thrown in to spice it all up..

We need to expose their connections to the cartel. Then they'll be discredited or worse. Senator Deveron won't have any power to hurt you anymore, and you won't have to worry about Evan. ~ Ryker

Hattie, Hattie, Hattie - where do I start with this one? She's kind of the whole reason they're in this mess. I'm sure she means well, but holy fuck, someone sedate this girl otherwise she'll kill everyone around her. There are times to speak up and others to remain fucking quiet - this girl just does not get that concept. You tell her not to do something and she will do exactly fucking that. Honestly, she annoyed me beyond comprehension. I don't really know why I read the whole series. And LOL, everyone was so cute and naive for having lived in Washington their whole lives. Really though, that naivete was not real.

5 star cool cartel read

I liked this series a lot. I loved the heroes and their willingness to fight for their happiness. What seemed impossible at first became their hea. An action packed cartel novel that I recommend to everyone interested in this genre.

After all the twists...

After all the twists and turns it settles just like that poof. The whole series kept it ramped to 10 and then it just pitters out like no big deal.

I have to say I read till it was done on all three books. I didn't love them, but I didn't hate them either.

I had the pleasure of reviewing the entire series in one go, and I have to say I am very grateful for that. I don't think I would have been able to wait for the ending of Hattie and Ryker!! The entire series focuses on Hattie Covington, and Ryker Vargas. The daughter of a high-profile U.S. politician, and the bastard son of Ignacio Vargas - Mexican Cartel Drug Lord - makes for an interesting story if I do say so myself!

I feel that Confessed was completely different from The Bargain. This time around, Hattie is abducted by the rivalry cartel, and things aren't looking great. When she was abducted the first time I didn't feel the sense of urgency that I did in Confessed. This time around, Ryer was struggling to get what he needed, and in a timely fashion. Is he able to let her go for good when it all comes down to it? Does Ryker get what he wants? What sort of deals, and hoops will he have to jump through before enough is enough?

SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!

Lisa Cardiff once again throws her readers into the mind of Hattie Covington, and Ryker Vargas. I cannot get over this authors keen mind for keeping things interesting as she flipped between the two main characters. In Confessed we see a side of Ryker that I wasn't sure the reader would get to see. It was refreshing to see the "bad boy" get what he wanted, and what he ultimately deserved in the end. Hattie stole the show though with her own happy ending. Lisa did a wonderful job bringing this story to life, and for that, I award her an amazing FIVE bars!

This is the third and final book in this series and they must be read in order. I loved this book and it was a great completion of the series. Hattie has been kidnapped by the Alvarez Cartel because Rever and Ryker took Anna Alvarez. It doesn't matter that they didn't kidnap Anna Alvarez, that they were just doing what she asked them too. Ryker is going out of his mind, yet another reason Hattie is better off without him. He is determined to get her back and make this right. He makes the ultimate sacrifice to rescue Hattie; he agrees to join his father's cartel in order to get the help he needs to rescue her. Ryker is torn between what he has promised Hattie and the deal he has made with his father. He can't risk Hattie's life be in danger anymore. Ryker is learning that more is going on with his father's cartel than anyone knows. He may have to risk himself and Hattie to get the future they both want. Will everything work out? Is there a traitor in the cartel? This book is a bit less emotional than the others. However there was that one part where I was hesitant to read because you know Ryker is going to do something stupid that could end his relationship with Hattie for good. I have loved this whole series and look forward to reading other books by Lisa in the future. The characters in this series are great. I felt like I was pulled into the book and a part of their world. The books were wonderfully written and engaging. I can't say enough about this book or the series.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

An okay read and nothing special. I just wanted to finish Ryker and Hattie’s story. There wasn’t a lot of an action and the ending was short and meaningless. I don’t think I will be reading anything from this author again.

So I'm going to review the whole series. I really like the series. It was good but there were some errors. I read lot of people hated Hattie for missing a backbone. I actually understood why she was like this I mean she was kidnapped and Evan met her and saved her bla bla so gratification I would say. She grew a lot from book one to three that was good, I liked how everything slowly unraveled and how Hattie came out of her shell. Also smut was so good in a first book and then it kind of lost that oh wow with some smart intel on things like government, how cartels are working. Very fascinating!

What a powerful yet surprisingly sweet ending for a complicated and drama filled story like this one. I have enjoyed Hattie and Ryker 'so story so much it's difficult to put my feelings into words. I have cried, suffered and hoped with the characters and my heart just melted in the end. Amazing series .

This was a fantastic end to this series. Hattie and Ryker fought to be together and trust each other, it situation after situation made it look impossible. Their struggle was not only with each other but with both the Vargas and Alvarez cartels. I was on the edge of my seat at times and thoroughly this brilliant series.

“Silence ticked by, and I bit my lip, wishing I felt stronger, more confident. Instead, I wilted under his unreadable gaze. He exhaled and took a couple of steps back, his hands slipping from my shoulders. I immediately mourned the loss of his touch.”

5 lucious, sexy Cartel stars!!! I can’t begin to explain how much I loved this series, and I love the Vargas Cartel!!! Super sexy and fun series!!! Highly recommend it!!

The storyline flowed well and I really enjoyed the scenes between the two of them as they got more and more involved in every very intense action.  The story of Ryker Vargas and Hattie Covington was astonished full of betrayal, secrets, violence and mayhem. Hattie story was a little heartbreaking to me I just can not get her parents attitude out of my head especially her mother. The drama was at an all time high, and the mafia backdrop only heightened it's appeal and gives the reader more action. Overall, I recommend this to all the romance readers out there that like mafia alpha males in their books. If alpha males are not your thing, then I would suggest you stay away from this one. An Amazing Story!

Once again, Lisa Cardiff nailed it! The conclusion to Hattie and Rykers story was perfect!
From beginning to end .. This book had me drawn it with all things going on.. I didn't want to put it down.
Loving the fact that the series is written in Dual POV, it keeps you wondering what's going on with either Hattie when reading Rykers POV and vice versa. The angst, action and the unexpectentcies keeps you on edge.
So good! Five Stars!

No Disappointment Here

I have read this book twice already before I could write my review. The authors ability to make you believe you are in the storyline is indescribable. I laughed, I cried and I cheered when the bad guys got what they deserved. This is a great story about crooked politicians and Mexican drug lords that will have you wondering if this could possibly be true. Yet the best part of all was the two characters that found love in this mess. Bravo to the author.

What an ending

I really liked how things came together. The plot was complicated and flowed freely with the characters. I liked Hattie she persevere through the obstacles. The only thing that annoyed me was the wavering between Hattie and Ryker. At times I just wanted to strangle them. Overall the series was good.

The end of the series

Such a great ending for such a great and crazy series. I had trouble finishing this book because I thought it would end in a place that didn't feel right but after all the hard trials this couple went threw the ending was a great match for the beginning. I'm sad to finish but I plan to revisit this couple in the future! Highly recommend
