A girl's destiny should be in her own hands. This pick-a-path series allows the reader to make her own decisions and choose how the story goes!

When it comes to netball, Edie Thomas is a natural. She’s only ever played for fun and to hang out with her netball-mad bestie Tess. But when Edie makes the state team, it looks like netball will be taking centre stage.
Until…
1. Edie drops out of the team when she scores a lead role in Romeo and Juliet opposite her long-time crush, Freddy. But will the school play be all that Edie dreams it will be? And will Tess ever forgive her for dumping netball?
2. Edie begins to resent netball taking over her entire life. Can a cute distraction, in the shape of footballer hottie Finn, rekindle her passion for sport or will she quit netball for good?

I haven't read a "choose-your-own" story since I read the Goosebumps ones as a kid. It was fun and easy and I liked going back to see the other possibilities.

I thought Play the Game was an interesting book and I loved reading it because it was something that teenagers can relate to. I liked that you were able to choose where the story went and I believe that the choices made the book more enjoyable because they gave you a sense of power and control. I think that the choices made the book more relatable because you could feel how the character was feeling when you needed to make a tough choice. I would recommend Play the Game to 8 – 15 year old girls who don’t particularly like reading because it is a book they can really get into and enjoy. I rated this book 4.5 out of 5 because it is a book that is easy to relate to and a book you can really get into, enjoy and read as many times as you want.

An amazing pick a path book by Nova Weetman but even without the chose your own part it would be a really good book. Ellie’s got hard choices to make but the best bit is your never there going “ugh why didn’t she do this....” because you get to chose what she does. Also a bonus is unlike some pick a path books that I have read it is continuous no matter what choices eg. let’s say someone went off and you don’t know where and then you get to guess where wo you can meet them there. In another book one choice might say they went to the supermarket and the other choice says they went to a burger place but in this one they would of gone to the same place in both choices which is good so you can learn from your mistakes and try again. I really enjoyed reading it even if I finished it quite fast. Overall would recommend it cause it’s so fun to do as an activity or just when you are curled up at night 😀.
I would recommend it to ages 9-13 but of course it depends on you 😊.

I had forgot how fun a choose your own adventure book is!!! A really great book for tweens (and grownups who like netball and drama class!) Will definitely recommend this to young readers.

TEAM FREAKING FINN. is this one even a choice? like freddie does not exist to me. firstly because i ALWAYS choose the netball path. whether she stays playing netball or quits, she always meets finn. in EVERY LIFETIME.

her friendship with tess was such an important part in this book and of course, in the end i just want them to be good but i also want edies happiness. and if she doesn’t have happiness in playing like tess but finding happiness in her own identity, own hobbies and own interests is way more important. though i do love the path where she chooses netball only to quit, go and kiss finn in the movie theaters and to come back and make up with tess again.

i need a finn. he was so down bad for edie the moment he laid eyes on the sweaty netballer.

DNF. I only skimmed this book, but I can see how upper primary/lower secondary school girls would enjoy this book. The choose-your-own-adventure is something that appealed to me as a child, so it’s nice to this is still present in some of today’s books.
