I thought my marriage to Clarissa was behind me, especially after she agreed to the divorce without much of a fight.
I thought I had finally moved on with my life.
The last thing I expected was for her to reappear and tell me I had a son with her—one I never knew existed…until now.
I know she's lying about something, and the deeper she pulls me into her web of lies, the more I realize just how many secrets she's been keeping from me.
Well I'll be the party pooper with my review, I just think the writing style of the authors is not for me. I did not like the story either, I feel like it was rushed. But don't let my review stop you from trying it for yourself, what one person dislikes may be another person's favorite.
Absolutely loved it!!!! The end was not what I expected and absolutely never would have guessed. Read on one sitting, i was hooked right from the start, each character had their own story that kept the pace going. Well done!!! Great read.
First things first… I LOVE when it book gives me a twist I didn’t see coming. And this one did that for me. It’s really hard to get a good grasp of who characters are in a novella; however, I feel like I got to know the characters well enough to keep me wanting more. The story was great. A little bit of a rushed ending for me, but I’ll for sure be reading the next one you grace us with!
This was a brilliant short book. The storyline and characters were great and had you hooked. I think I read this over a morning. This was the first book by AJ Guerrero and hopefully lots more to come.
This is a new author and this book is sooo good!! The only problem is waiting for the next one- easy and quick read with twist after twist that you DO NOT see coming-
This was my first by these Authors and it was a quick and interesting read. I never realized how conniving people can really be when money is involved. That Ex was a piece of work I was satisfied with the ending will be recommending to others.
I am not going to spoil anything about this book. Im just going to say it blew me away. Lol. No pun intended. Great short story. Congratulations to father and son on this one. It's a must read.
Absolutely LOVED IT!! Captivated me from the get go! Loved the characters, the banter and so many twists and turns just when I think I have it figured out! 🔥🔥
Before I knew it, I was completely wrapped up in Cole's story. Watching him slowly come undone emotionally as he tried to untangle himself from Clarissa's endless manipulation was both frustrating and impossible to look away from. Every time I thought things couldn't get any more chaotic, she found a new way to twist the situation to her advantage. She is one of those characters who will have your blood pressure climbing because she's so calculating, selfish, and infuriating. I swear I wanted to reach through my Kindle more than once just to shake some sense into her.
The pacing never lets up, with plenty of emotional tension, messy relationships, and enough twists to keep the pages turning. Even though it's a novella, it never felt rushed. Instead, it packed a surprising amount of drama and emotion into a short amount of time, making it incredibly easy to devour in one sitting.
This was my first experience reading anything by AJ, and I came away genuinely impressed. If this novella is any indication of what I can expect from his writing, I'll definitely be checking out more of his books in the near future. I'm always looking for quick, addictive reads that keep me fully invested from beginning to end, and this one absolutely delivered.
He's Not My Son by AJ and Spencer Guerrero is an easy, engaging read that helped get me out of a reading slump.
The story follows a gang family hiding layers of dark secrets beneath the surface. Clarissa traps everyone in her web of lies and gaslighting, while Cole is left dealing with the consequences. I really felt for his character.
As the secrets begin to unravel, the story becomes increasingly compelling, and I couldn't wait to see how everything would unfold.
The Guerreros have created fictional characters you'll love to hate, constantly making you question who is truly the worst. The plotting was well done, with twists that kept me turning the pages.
If you enjoy psychological thrillers packed with family secrets, this is definitely one to pick up.
I hate to one star a new author, but I fear this is an example of a book that was just not ready yet.
The dialogue was clunky and unnatural with ill disguised exposition. I found myself thinking "Thanks, captain obvious" as I read. It gave me the impression of a book that wasnt quite translated correctly. I never really understood "show, don't tell" in a book until this. Examples:
"You know how violent my dad gets when he doesn’t get money for his vices." He's naming the concept he wants to get across instead of providing examples and letting the reader reach the conclusion.
"I cut my hair really short. Now I look like a sergeant in the army instead of a hippie from the seventies.” Who talks about themselves like that? It would have made more sense to have someone else comment on the hair cut.
I hope this author is learning and growing. I wish him success in future projects.
I enjoyed this novella — Cole’s steady, emotional unraveling pulled me in, especially as he tries to navigate Clarissa’s nonstop manipulation. She’s the kind of conniving character who makes your blood pressure spike, the one I wanted to reach through my Kindle and smack. The tension stays tight, the drama stays messy, and it delivers exactly the kind of quick, addictive read I love. This is my first book from AJ and can’t wait to read more by him!
Once again, Spencer has done it…and with AJ too!! Like talent must just run in the family! I was so shocked at the end cuz like what! All that, for that?!?!?! I just love his work!! Love it down bad!!!! The surprises just kept coming at the end of the book. I could’ve sworn it was very cut and dry about him not being the father, but the plot just kept twisting and twisting. Please Yal, go read his work!!!
This was a short, fast read that was easy to fly through. It definitely had its share of family secrets, along with plenty of unexpected twists and shocking moments that kept the story moving. It was an entertaining, suspenseful thriller that kept me hooked from beginning to end. If you’re looking for a quick thriller with lots of surprises, this one is worth picking up.
The cover and description led me to believe this was going to be about a younger child/infant. This book was not what I was expecting at all. It turned out to be some time of Mafia short story. It was readable, it had twists, but I was not blown away. It was definitely a quick read. I could have finished it in one sitting but I was not really interested in the book once the plot started to develop so I had to put it down several times and forced myself to finish it.
I asked for whiplash, and I got it! This father son duo, has written an amazing novella that made me excited for the second one! I never saw the ending coming. We can obviously see where Spencer got his writing talent from!
I was super excited to read this because this author is hyped up so much online. I was sorely disappointed. This writing style is definitely not for me. Its stilted and all over the place. I don't think this author is for me.
This was a fast paced read and I enjoyed the ride! I did not suspect the twisty ending but it made for such a great story! All the drama and numerous lies made this book one I didn’t want to put down.
I really enjoyed this book. Poor guy going through life not knowing "who's my daddy." I do recommend any books written by either A.J. Guerrero or Spencer Guerrero. They are all page turners and very good reads.
This book talk about how secret ruin people life and the end what's shocking but it make perfect sense looking forward to reading the next book I felt sad
Started out a little slow in my opinion but lots of twists towards the end. Overall, a good read especially for AJ Guerrero’s first novella. Beginning novella #2.
