Nothing says Merry Christmas like fake fiancés, family pressure, and accidentally falling for your ex's brother.
Nolan never met a spotlight he didn't like. As a major league baseball player with a filthy mouth, an ego the size of the North Pole, and zero interest in behaving, he's perfectly happy breezing into Christmas in Kringletown like the charming disaster everyone expects him to be.
Taran, on the other hand, has made an art form out of keeping the peace. She's polished, careful, and so committed to making everyone else happy that she's somehow agreed to a fake wedding with her ex just to keep her family's holiday from imploding.
There's only one problem: the ex in question is Nolan's brother, and Nolan sees right through her. He knows Taran deserves better than pretending her way through life.
And he'd really like 'better' to be him.
Now Taran is juggling family expectations, holiday chaos, and a man who is far too cocky, far too funny, and far too determined to bulldoze every wall she's ever built.
But with Christmas closing in, secrets snowballing, and one very fake engagement threatening to blow up in spectacular fashion, this holiday season is about to get messy. And someone's sure to end up on the naughty list.
When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since.
You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.
I currently reside in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.
This one started off strong with the funny narrator, but quickly became my least favorite of the series. While I enjoyed the characters themselves, I didn’t enjoy the story they were put in if that makes sense. They were all quirky and fun, but I wish the story went a different direction.
The fake marriage thing was so odd and weird, like who would agree to that? It just didn’t vibe well, because they kept saying they were doing it for their families, but what family would want to be fooled like that? Just was not a fan of that storyline at all.
Also, found it a bit weird the connection she had with her fiancé’s brother after they dated long term, were engaged for a bit, and just ended their relationship. Brotherly rivalry over the girl is fun, but here it felt wrong considering all the history there. For this to work for me, there would need to have been more time in between.
Overall, was disappointed in this and it didn’t have the same magic as the others. I wonder if this will be the last one or not.
The Christmas vibes were still good, so hopefully she does write another.
—————— Pre-read: Yay!! I love this series, so can’t wait! 💚
It pains me to DNF my first Meghan Quinn book but I just couldn't take it anymore 😩 the MMC is absolutely insufferable and doesn't have a single serious bone in his body. Meghan's books are always raunchy but this one was just excessive to the point that it ruined the whole story. Every interaction turned into a sexual joke or innuendo. Also the MMC was constantly flirting with the FMC when she was dating his brother which was weird.
Thank you Raincoast Books and Bloom Books for the ARC!
Here's the thing with a book like this. You have to know what you're getting into when you go to read it. It's nearly slapstick, has outrageous and ridiculous characters, and is as close to realism as I am to Mars. But all that being said, it's still a fun time. Absurd, yes, but fun.
This one features Nolan and Taran. Has a very National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation theme going from the invading family to the RV in the driveway. Except for this one, it's got a fake wedding, a brother in love with his brother's ex-girlfriend, and a town devoted to Christmas (which we've visited in her previous books).
I had a good time with this one. Definitely have a great Christmas vibe, good spice, and funny enough to not be taken too seriously.
Oh my NOG, this Christmas book was hilarious! It was exactly as unhinged and funny as I want an MQ book to be. I’m amazed every time I pick them up how I just keep laughing at these hilarious stories. Taran and Nolan had a sizzling chemistry and oh boy, opposites do really attract. Taran is torn between following her head and her heart, and Nolan knows exactly what he wants.
In this third book in the Kringletown Christmas series, we get to follow Taran as she is accidentally falling for her ex’s brother, Nolan, while she and her ex are planning their fake wedding to keep the family happy... Well, you hear how chaotic this situation is. And yes, it gets better, because Nolan is such an outspoken person. He is funny and drops one-liner after one-liner and always says what’s on his mind, even if it isn’t PG-13. I loved his unique and hilarious personality.
I devoured this book and the immersive reading made it the ultimate experience. Brandon Francis and Kelsey Navarro Foster were perfect for these characters and I think their narration made me love this book so much more.
If you want a laugh out loud romcom, look no further. Meghan Quinn always got you covered.
Thank you to Meghan Quinn and Good Girls PR for the ARC & ALC.
Thank you to Team Meghan Quinn for the gifted eARC and ALC! The entire cast did a phenomenal job! I’m always a fan of an entire cast — it brings the story to life!
I was so looking forward to this book, but unfortunately, it fell flat. Was the book funny? Definitely! Meghan Quinn always makes me laugh! What I wasn’t a fan of was our MMC, Nolan. He was very unlikable to me. He was raunchy from start to finish. And somehow our FMC, even though was annoyed with him everytime he’d make a raunchy comment, still ends up with him. There was no deep expression of love anywhere in their relationship, it was pure sex and I just wasn’t a fan. I think I’m in my slow burn/yearning era and I wish there was some of that in this book.
What I loved about the book? Well, Christmas Vacation is my favorite Christmas movie of all time so I absolutely LOVED all the nods to the movie! That was probably my favorite part!
One of the funniest MQ books I’ve listened to!! This audio was absolutely perfect!! Brandon Francis was so & Kelsey Navarro Foster was the perfect Taran!!
First of all, nothing beats a fake dating Christmas romance with humor & did someone say ex’s brother?!? 🤭 these two gave me everything I wanted & more!!
Nolan! This man was so hilarious! The one liners and the comments that kept coming out of his character!! I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing throughout this entire book! Taran!! I am so glad we got her story! Torn between what she thinks she should do and what she wants, her character growth was so good!!
The chemistry and way these two were so perfect for each other & exactly what they each needed, it made this one so much better. Meghan is always gonna write a Christmas rom com that sucks you in, makes you laugh, and what would it be without the spicy mix of a Christmas treat 🤭
I loved this book & having glimpses of some of my fave past characters! Definitely book you’re gonna want on your holiday TBR!!!
Thank you MQ & team for this early ARC & ALC! As always, it didn’t disappoint!!!
Of course this one didn’t disappoint! I absolutely loved being back in this little town, but Nolan completely stole the show for me. He was chaotic, hilarious, and had me cackling, especially with the banter between him and the narrator. But underneath all of that craziness, he was so observant. He truly saw Taran and knew exactly what she needed.
Nolan and Taran were the perfect Type B meets Type A balance. He pushed her outside of her comfort zone while still understanding who she was, and I loved watching that play out. And Aunt Cindy was such a hoot. That woman always knew what was going on.
But what really got me was Taran’s journey. Watching her finally stop trying to please everyone around her and choose what made HER happy hit a little closer to home for me. She finally chose herself, and that’s something I’ve been working on in my own life too.
thank you to Meghan Quinn + her team for the ARC & ALC, all thoughts are my own.
😳 I don’t even know what to say about this one 😅 Meghan's most wild one yet!
after rating the last 2 books in this series 5⭐️, it pains me to write this review.
I mean.. I did finish it? But I had many 😬 moments.
I absolutely loved Taran from the first book (How My Neighbor Stole Christmas), I found her very relatable. I still enjoyed her in this one, but I found it pretty hard to believe she'd end up with a guy like Nolan 😅 for me personally, he'd drive me absolutely insane.
I really struggled to get on board with Nolan as a character. I enjoyed him in Just for the Plot, and was surprised in this one. He was just TOO sexual, and it went past the point of entertaining for me.
there were absolutely NO boundaries in this book, and some scenes were just a lot.
I did enjoy the audio, the full cast is always fun and I think Kelsey Navarro Foster & Brandon Francis were a really great fit for Taran & Nolan.
Meghan Quinn really said, “Here, have a little holiday happiness!” 🎄❤️
I had such a good time with Christmas Staycation! Meghan has a way of making her stories so fun and entertaining, and I love how she can make me laugh while still giving me all the romance feels. This was such a fun book to get lost in, and it definitely delivered the kind of holiday reading experience I was hoping for. 🫶🏼
At this point, Meghan Quinn is an auto-buy author for a reason. I know I'm going to have a good time with her books, and this one was no exception. If you're looking for a festive romance to add to your holiday TBR, put this one on your list! 🎅🏼📚
Way too long….and just a little too over the top for me. This is my 67th MQ book I’ve read. Loved the majority of them, and enjoyed the other two in this series. But this one, despite a few good moments….just didn’t hit the mark. I wanted more believability in the plot, I wanted more character development, and some real romance. I think I enjoyed Nolan better in the previous book. While he had a good heart and was fun loving and outlandish, I think he could wear a person out.🤷🏻♀️
This was such a fun, festive read! The book had plenty of humour and romance. I loved the Christmas vibe, and the sweet moments between Nolan & Taran made it much more entertaining. The situa ion they were in was chaotic, but Nolan's one liners made the story feel very lighthearted. I even liked both of their families. However, some moments felt a little over the top to me. So overall, it was a quick and easy read.
Meghan Quinn is not regarded as a Queen of RomCom lightly! Meghan had me in stitches from The prologue! Yep that’s right… IMMEDIATELY LAUGHING OUT LOUD!… And once I started I never stopped!
❤️ Christmas RomCom 💚 Small Town ❤️ Ex-Fiancé’s Brother 💚 Forced Proximity ❤️ Opposites Attract 💚 He Fell First & Harder ❤️ Spicy Time With Holiday Treat 💚 Toys (Not From Santa)
The type of humour Meghan has packed into this book is my kryptonite, the witty one liners laced with innuendos and the filthy banter was absolutely top tier! Take a bow MQ, this was festive, hilarious and so HOTTTT!
Nolan was literally a laugh a minute, this guy had me in stitches as well as in the palm of his hand! He has a sweetness underlying the crass jokes and his love language is definitely “Acts of Service” (in every sense). The romantic gestures were swoon worthy just as much as the spice was hilariously sinful and sexy
As always beneath the humour there is a meaningful message, and some real heart warming moments! Taran doesn’t realise that Nolan has been pining for her since the very beginning, but he definitely shows her the type of man she really needs. Someone to take her out of her comfort zone yet someone who lets her be herself too!
Guy & Tatyana gave me “American Pie” movie vibes, and believe me that did not disappoint!! I absolutely loved the cameos from Storee & Cole and Max & Betty, and Aunt Cindy is an absolute legend! She is hands down one of my favourite cast characters ❤️
Thank you Meghan for the chance to read this book early! I’m forever grateful for these opportunities ❤️
Quinnmas time. I'm not going to tell you about this book you can read the synopsis or not no need if Quinn wrote it you should be reading it. I will ask you which color cover you got? because the question is not if you got a copy its what color copy you got? I heard her say this is her last Christmas book so I am sad but so happy I have this series to enjoy each year.
Nolan and Taran are hilarious! This book and series are hilarious. It amazes me how the author can come up with such great one-liners that literally make me laugh out loud. The stuff that is said and done is so true to life, or at least what I would want; but to be written into a story is just awesome and I’m here for it. This book was a great time and I highly recommend it!
This is my least favorite of the series. I did not like the MMC, he was honestly really annoying to me. I also just didn’t like the premise of the book and it made Story seem like such a bad sister Taran.
None of these characters had a backbone at all!! I didn’t like Taran’s parents or really anyone. By the end of this book, I was powering through.
Reading about a male stripper putting a strip show in front of his mom, his dad, brother and brothers future wife was sooooooo fucking weird. What parent wants to watch their child strip and dance provocatively. It was too much for me.
HO HO HO you hos. It's never fully Christmas until we've had some QUINNMAS! And a MQ holiday romance inspired by one of my all time favorite holiday movies?! YUP, I know this would be a wild good time. A man with zero filter, a fake christmas wedding, and SPICY EGGNOG?! MQ is a holiday menace yet again. Christmas Staycation is wild good time and a total riot!
NOLAN. Lol. This man is OUTRAGEOUS. The one-liners? The audacity? The complete inability to keep a single thought to himself?! I was CACKLING. And somehow, SOMEHOW, beneath all that unhinged energy is a man who has been gone for Taran for YEARS and knows exactly how to make her feel seen. SWOON.
Taran is busy trying to keep everyone else happy, her ex-fiancé included, when the universe decides to throw her directly into the path of the ONE BROTHER she absolutely should not be falling for. Oh, and their families are expecting a wedding. Fake wedding plans, holiday family chaos, opposites-attract chemistry, and enough ridiculous banter to keep me grinning from beginning to end.The romance is swoony, the spice is SPICY, and Nolan has officially moved from a character I wasn't sure about to a man I would happily spend an entire Christmas vacation with.
I did an immersive read with the ebook and audiobook, and this is exactly how I love experiencing Meghan's stories. The full-cast production adds so much personality to an already lively cast of characters, making the banter, comedic timing, and romantic tension even more fun. Kelsey Navarro Foster and Brandon Francis are fantastic as Taran and Nolan, and J.F. Harding as Guy is an absolute scene stealer. I cannot imagine anyone else delivering his particular brand of comedy quite so perfectly. The entire cast, including Shane East, Vanessa Edwin, and Teddy Hamilton, brings something special to the experience. The performances are emotionally expressive, hilarious and wonderfully suited to the story. The audiobook doesn't just complement the humor, it makes those absurd little moments land even harder. If you're considering listening to this one, DO IT. MQ audios are always ELITE.
At this point, three trips to Kringletown have confirmed that Meghan knows exactly how to make a Christmas romance feel like a holiday party gone completely off the rails, in the best possible way. It's my favorite holiday tradition. Christmas Staycation had me grinning, swooning, and laughing at things I probably should not admit to laughing at quite so loudly. Nolan stole the show, Taran's journey made me happy, and together they delivered a romance that was every bit as ridiculous and lovable as I wanted it to be. If you need a festive read that brings the laughs, the heart, and a healthy dose of absolutely unholy holiday spice, put this one under your holiday tree
What to expect in Christmas Staycation: 🎄 Christmas Romance 🎄 Small Town Holiday Setting 🎄 Ex-Fiancé's Brother 🎄 Fake Wedding 🎄 Forced Proximity 🎄 Opposites Attract 🎄 He Falls First and Hard 🎄 Longstanding Feelings/Pining 🎄 Slow Burn 🎄 Family Shenanigans 🎄 Hilarious Banter 🎄 Festive Chaos 🎄 Full Cast Audiobook
🔹Plot: Taran and Guy have initially decided that they were going to part ways, but somehow they ended up pretending to get married. Quite crazy! With a nosy family, Taran was forced to continue with the charade, even if she didn't want at all to do so. Things got more complicated when Guy's brother, Nolan, came in town for their presumed wedding. Why was that a problem? Well, he and Taran had a complicated past, and the tension and attraction present between them were more intense than ever! With all that craziness around the wedding, what will Taran decide to be best for her in the end? Will she continue trying to make her family happy or will she choose her own happiness for once?
🔹Impressions: Just like Meghan's previous holiday stories, this book was also super funny and extra spicy🤭. And you must be prepared for the spiciness, because you won't even realize what hit you😅. I laughed a lot thanks to Nolan, being a character who annoyed me a lot in the beginning with his cocky attitude, but somewhere along the way he made me change my mind, finding his personality super funny and appreciating his way of living his best life, without any regrets. Taran was obviously his opposite and that's why they were so right for each other, even if the situation wasn't exactly in their favor. Guy was another character who wasn't to my taste, because he seemed shallow and a bit selfish, not caring that much about Taran's feelings. It kind of annoyed me how he took decisions by himself, even if he wasn't the only one affected. The wedding situation being just one of those kind of decisions he took without thinking and without talking with Taran first. I loved that their families were so much fun to follow, that entangled situation of continuing with the wedding and the way Nolan was secret pinning for Taran.
This book was such a chaotic, beautiful mess, where the fun was always present. I'm so gratefull for being able to listen to this story, the full cast being amazing and making it super hilarious. Again, the actual "Narrator" from this book was extremely funny with his lines, laughing so much at his interventions. For me listening to this book made it even more funnier, the cast making me enjoy this story and be captivated by that "sort of" love triangle present in this book. Duet multicast narration by Shane East, Brandon Francis, Kelsey Navarro Foster, Vanessa Edwin, JF Harding, Teddy Hamilton.
Thank you so, so much Meghan and team for sending me the e-ARC and ALC of this book! Grateful for this opportunity!
Christmas Staycation 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 Meghan Quinn Narrators: Brandon Francis and Kelsey Navarro Foster with full cast including: Shane East, Vanessa Edwin, JF Harding and Teddy Hamilton
First of all, thank you for @MeghanQuinn for the gifted ALC/ARC of this book!
After last year’s book, Merry Christmas, You Filthy Animal I really didn’t know how their could be a third book but Meghan Quinn continues to amaze me and created this third installment in this series and it was literal perfection!
First of all, bring in Nolan from the Bay Area Players series was sheer genius and Nolan as our MMC just made me laughing from the very first words coming out in this audiobook! And this book is Taryn’s story (Storee’s sister) and these two are freakin’ hilarious together!
I definitely do not want to spoil anything for you as this book just had me laughing all along the way and you have to experience it yourself! If you are looking for a raucous, raunchy, da*n good time then you need to grab this book! If you can I recommend the audiobook as with it’s full cast narration just made the experience all the sweeter and grab yourself a candy cane, some popcorn garland and wash it down with a perfect egg nog latte and thank me later! IYKYK!
Meghan, thank you for starting off my holiday season with such a banger! Bravo!
This book is a Christmasy good time and exactly what I’ve come to expect from Meghan Quinn!
Nolan is completely unhinged most of the time, and I could not get enough of his commentary. At first, I wasn’t quite sure how he and Taran were going to work because they are literally total opposites, but somehow, it just does. He brings out her fun side, gets her to loosen up, and helps her enjoy the moment a little more.
The narration only added to the hilarity of the whole situation. Brandon Francis absolutely nailed Nolan’s wild, chaotic personality, while Kelsey Navarro-Foster perfectly captured Taran’s stressed out, somewhat rigid personality. Together, they made this audiobook such a fun listen.
If you’ve been loving this series so far, you’re definitely going to love this one too!
What to expect: *Fake fiancé / wedding *Family holiday dramatics *Ex boyfriend’s brother
Safety: Some OW/OM drama, only in the form of jealousy. No cheating, or spicy scenes with anyone but the main characters together. No third act breakup.
Review: This book was the funniest book I have ever read!! I loved every chapter! If you have ever wondered what National Lampoons Christmas Vacation would be like in a contemporary romance book, here it is!! We even get a little hint as to what Margo and Todd might be up to these days…IYKYK.
Taran first meets Nolan at a strip club and it was lust at first sight for him. She unfortunately ends up dating his brother, but after a few years Taran and Guy realize it isn’t working, they split up, and are going to announce their breakup after the holidays.
Unfortunately their families have different plans for them and chaos ensues! Be ready for RV spicy times, a mysterious sick aunt, and a raunchy family game night. There are so many great scenes in this book, I enjoyed every bit of it!
Thank you to the author, Sourcebooks, Bloom Books, and Edelweiss for the opportunity to read and review this book!
If you know anything about me, you know I love a Meghan Quinn book. This one unfortunately, was not my favorite. We are back in Kringle for the holiday season and of course chaos ensues and holiday treats are defiled. There are some good laughs and great spice which definitely made it an enjoyable read. However, while it had the potential to be a great read, for me it simply tried too hard.
Taran is very harsh most of the book in all of her actions but has zero backbone when it comes to her family. Nolan is just raunchy nonstop to an annoying level. It made it incredibly hard to take him seriously as a real love interest because he was just so immature. Guy was just cringy and the love triangle vibe felt really weird. What really got me with this one was that I just didn’t like any of the characters at all. No one cared to ask Taran what she wanted and everyone was just incredibly selfish. Tatiana, the Christmas lights display, and the whole plot just felt too random and unbelievable for me which made it feel forced. There were so great parts but as a whole I had a difficult time getting into this one.
With that said, a friend of mine also read this one and absolutely loved it! So while this particular MQ book wasn’t my favorite, it is worth the read as you may love it.
Thank you to Meghan and her team for this ARC in return for my honest review. My opinions are my own.
This was everything I wanted in a holiday rom-com! The banter, the chemistry, the fake dating, and the forbidden romance had me absolutely hooked. And let's be real, a man who falls first?! I'M SOLD.
I found myself smiling, laughing, and kicking my feet throughout this book. Meghan Quinn knows exactly how to deliver the perfect combination of humor, romance, and swoon-worthy moments.
If you're looking for a fun, cozy Christmas romance that gives you all the butterflies, this is the one! ❤️🎄
OH MY GOD! Meghan Quinn had me freaking DYING with this book! She nailed these characters. Wait, or the did the characters nail each other? Either way, this book was awesome!
From the prologue alone, I knew I was in for a good time. It was hilarious and so on par for a Meghan Quinn book. I absolutely love how she brings the narrator into her stories, and the humor throughout this one was absolutely ridiculous in the best way. I got funny looks listening to this on my morning walks!
But can we talk about Nolan?! Nolan, Nolan, Nolan. I freaking LOVE this man! He's so carefree, nothing seems to faze him, and he just keeps coming back for more. He's completely obsessed with Taran, and the poor girl has no idea just how long he's liked her. My heart genuinely broke for him at times because this man was all in before she even knew it! Then finding out why he can so easily be carefree makes your heart swell.
Taran has a little bit of that black cat energy, and I'm here for it. She's stubborn, gets stuck in her own head (way more often than she should), and doesn't always want to communicate. But Nolan makes her talk things through, lets her be annoyed, and doesn't take any of it personally. I loved that about him! I need to be more like him, on this. He doesn't care that she was engaged to his brother or what anyone else thinks. He wants her, and that's that. It was just that simple.
And don't even get me started on how secretly romantic this man is! The sledding, the surprises, and the absolutely unhinged things that come out of his mouth. I swear, Taran would never have a boring day with Nolan.
Between the charades, the whole Dale situation, the freaking JAM JAMS, and whatever Meghan Quinn was doing in chapter 39 (HOT HOT HOT), I was either laughing my ass off or completely swooning. So many feelings with this book.
And can we PLEASE talk about the audiobook?! Brandon Francis, Kelsey Navarro Foster, and the entire full cast were absolutely phenomenal with all the characters. They brought these characters to life in the best possible way! The way they played off one another had me genuinely giggling throughout the book. I seriously don't think a better cast could have been picked for this story. They made an already hilarious book that much more entertaining!
What to Expect: 🎄Holiday Romance 🎄Ex’s Brother 🎄Baseball Romance 🎄He Falls First and Hard 🎄Opposites Attract 🎄Spicy Romance 🎄Small Town Romance 🎄Rom Com
Meghan (and your team!) THANK YOU so much for allowing me to have a copy of this ALC/ARC. I am forever grateful to be on your team. I can not wait for what comes next from you!
Hilarious. Different. Refreshing. Hot. These are all words I would use to describe Christmas Staycation.
Meghan took bits and pieces of classic Christmas movies and intertwined them into a fresh, new story, and I absolutely devoured it. Like, finished in one day devoured. With how many romance books are available right now (I am NOT complaining!), it’s easy to read something and feel like you’ve already read a similar plot. Not with this book!
Taran first meets Nolan at a strip club, where he works as a stripper during the off-season from minor league baseball. Nolan is instantly smitten, while Taren would rather be anywhere else than having him thrusting in her face. Unfortunately for Nolan, Taran ends up dating his brother, Guy. For the next five years, Nolan secretly pines for the one woman he can't have.
When Nolan hears that Taran and Guy are suddenly getting married, he heads to Colorado for the wedding. Except, SURPRISE! The wedding is fake. Taran and Guy have actually broken up but are pretending to get married to keep their families happy at Christmas. Now that Nolan knows Taran is single, he's finally ready to make his move. And OMG, things get HOT.
I loved how Meghan took the fake relationship trope and did something completely different with it. Instead of two people pretending to be together and eventually falling in love, we have two people who have already broken up pretending to get married. And the best part is that neither of them is even our MMC!
Throughout the book, through Taran’s POV, Guy starts out seeming like an okay guy. But the more time we spend with him, the more Taran gets the ick, and SO DID I. Then we get chapters from Guy’s POV, and OMG. SO CRINGE. But in the most hilarious way. I still shudder thinking about some of those scenes. Haha.
And let's talk about Nolan. OMG. The ego, the mouth, the short shorts, and the tube tops. He was a wild ride, and I absolutely loved him. So charismatic, charming, ridiculously funny, and yet so completely down bad for Taran. He's my perfect MMC. And the chemistry between these two was INSANE.
The huge cast of characters only added to the fun. There was so much going on, so many hilarious interactions, and somehow Meghan made it all work without losing the romance at the center of the story.
There's so much more I want to say about this book and how everything turns out because the writing and storytelling were SO good. But that would mean giving away some of the best parts, and I'm not spoiling those for anyone!
Christmas Staycation is perfect for anyone who wants a Christmas romance that's hilarious, ridiculously hot, but still has depth and a genuinely great love story. It was different from anything I've read, and I loved every minute of it. My favorite of the three books in this series BY FAR!
What to Expect: - Holiday Rom-Com - Small Town - Baseball Player + Nurse - Ex-fiancé's Brother - Black Cat + Golden Retriever - Opposites Attract - Fake Wedding - Forced Proximity - Forbidden - He Falls First - Secret Relationship - Slow Burn - Multiple POVs - Duet Full Cast Narration
My Thoughts: I am a HUGE fan of Meghan Quinn, and I was really looking forward to this book. A nod to a Christmas movie I love + more of a character I've wanted more of = a recipe for success. Sadly, and it PAINS me to say this, this book just didn't do it for me. Were there some laugh out loud moments? YES! Did I appreciate the fun nods to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? Absolutely! I loved the bits of Nolan we got previously, and I was literally frothing at the mouth for more of him. In my opinion, the Nolan we get in Christmas Staycation didn't feel like the same Nolan we got in Just for the Plot. He was insanely over the top for a majority of the book and had me saying YIKES way too many times.
Taran and Nolan are complete opposites, and honestly, it was hard for me to believe someone like Taran would fall for a guy who makes everything sexual and rarely takes anything seriously. I mean, c'mon! This man wears freaking crop tops! But you know what they say...opposites attract, right?! I appreciated seeing his softer side and his ability to loosen Taran up. Somehow these two worked and were exactly what each other needed, but them having to go through all of the shenanigans to get there was a lot. Some scenes will definitely live rent free in my head. This book was chaotic, ridiculous, and completely unserious. I was here for the laughs and vibes, and that's what I got. There is always something crazy going on in Kringle!
What kind of name is Guystopher? 🙃 "Mother, may I?" - I can't with this guy 🤣 Eggnog is the best holiday drink. Period.
Narration: The duet full cast audio was so much fun. Kelsey Navarro Foster and Brandon Francis led the way as Taran and Nolan. They are joined by J.F. Harding, Vanessa Edwin, Teddy Hamilton, and Shane East. The narrators really brought the characters to life. I bet there are so many fun bloopers! I highly recommend enjoying this book as an immersive read.
Thanks to Meghan Quinn, Team MQ, Bloom Books, and Audibly Addicted Productions for the gifted copies. Opinions expressed are my own.
Book Title: Christmas Staycation (Kringletown Christmas book 3) Author: Meghan Quinn Publishers: Bloom Books + Meghan Quinn Out Now? Y Format: 🎧 Narrators: Kelsey Navarro Foster, Brandon Francis, J.F. Harding, Vanessa Edwin, Teddy Hamilton, & Shane East
🗣️ Quick(ish) Take: Possibly the messiest book of this series, Christmas Staycation takes us on a journey that is complete with lots of spicy scenes, a fake fiancé, and a VERY mouthy/dirty MMC. I faintly remember Nolan popping up in other Quinn books I’ve read, but this is the first time I’ve read something with him as the main focus, and it’s enough to make a girl blush. I can’t imagine ever being attracted to someone like him, but he was a great fit for Taran, and their journey to being together was hilarious. It is also the first time we have gotten a better take on Taran’s BF/fake fiancé Guy, and wow; he is such a baby!! 🤣 I much preferred Nolan for her, and despite his cockiness, he is also strangely charming?!
I was disappointed there wasn’t as much of our general narrator (IYKYK) in this one as in the other two installments. Still, I have to admit it made sense here, given Nolan’s personality and our dash of forbidden romance. The spice is spicing ✨as previously mentioned✨, and even though that is Quinn’s specialty, it just hits differently in this book. If you want a holiday read that will make you blush, laugh, and cringe in equal measure, this, my friends, is it!
🎧 The Audiobook: I loved every second of the audio, and it doesn’t hurt that it has a full cast that includes narrators from the other two books in the series. Nolan’s character is captured so completely that it made me feel an even wider range of things toward him than I would have if I had been reading with my eyes. Each narrator is perfectly matched to their character, and it made my listening experience utterly enjoyable in every way. I bought a physical copy as a shelf trophy, but I highly recommend the audiobook for an even more satisfying experience!
