I thought this book was going to be more of an autobiography than Be A Birder and perhaps it didn't work out that way. It was more of the same in a way although this time the structure has him stringing his personal experiences around types of UK habitat.

I'd be really interested to know how he worked with his writer Nathan Joyce (who features in one of the trips described) Although he talks about the impact of dyslexia, positive and negative, I'd've liked more about how he navigates life now in that respect.

What gave me huge pleasure were the sections about Ardnamurchan, his home (and the book is well titled) - not just the wildlife but also how he got himself settled in. It had me reaching for OS maps and remembering my one visit there.
