Coastal Fresh Start Romance #1
Christmas in July at Harbor's Hope
She stopped trusting people. He stopped letting them in.
Event planner Margot Pine arrives in Harbor's Hope determined to make the resort's Christmas-in-July festival a success. After a devastating business betrayal nearly destroyed everything she'd worked for, she's focused on one thing: proving she can rebuild her life on her own.
Marina handyman Evan Cole knows all about loss. Five years after a tragedy changed his life forever, he's settled into a quiet routine of work, solitude, and keeping his heart safely guarded.
When a missing ornament collection throws the festival into chaos, Margot and Evan find themselves working side by side to uncover the truth. Between early mornings at the marina, late-night planning sessions, and a small coastal town determined to celebrate Christmas in the middle of summer, an unexpected friendship begins to grow.
But trust doesn't come easily to either of them.
As the festival races toward its grand finale, Margot and Evan must decide whether the past deserves the final word—or whether some gifts arrive when you least expect them.

Christmas in July at Harbor’s Hope is a heartwarming, clean, and slow-burn holiday romance. The story revolves around Margot, an event planner who is responsible for making the Christmas in July event a success. When a mysterious theft takes place, it adds an extra layer of intrigue and makes the story even more engaging.
My favorite part of the book was Margot’s character development. I also really enjoyed the slow progression of Margot and Evan’s relationship. The author doesn’t rush their romance, which makes it feel natural and believable.
The world-building and storyline are lovely, and I especially enjoyed the festive atmosphere and the strong sense of teamwork throughout the book. Lou, Jolene, Evan, Ray, Tessa, and Margot make a wonderful cast of characters, each contributing something special to the story.
The details are thoughtfully crafted, and the writing flows beautifully. Christmas in July, a charming harbor setting, a slow-burn romance, and a cozy small-town atmosphere—this book has it all. A delightful holiday read that’s a joy to experience.

A Romance I Really Enjoyed
It had been a while since I read a romance that made me this emotionally invested in the characters. Christmas in July at Harbor’s Hope surprised me in the best way, and I found myself becoming more attached to the story as I got further into it.
Margot & Evan
Margot and Evan were easily the highlight for me. I liked that they both felt like people with their own experiences and emotional baggage rather than characters created only to bring the romance together. Their individual journeys made their connection more meaningful, and I enjoyed watching their personalities gradually come through.
What I appreciated most was that their relationship wasn't rushed. There was room for awkward moments, uncertainty, trust, and genuine emotional growth. I found myself looking forward to their interactions because even the quieter moments between them felt important. The second-chance aspect added another layer to their relationship and made me more invested in seeing whether they could find their way back to each other.
The Overall Story
The gentle pacing worked well for me because it gave the emotional parts of the story enough room to breathe. I never felt like the romance was being pushed forward simply to reach the next stage. Instead, the characters had time to understand themselves and each other, which made their progress feel satisfying.
I also enjoyed having the mystery woven into the storyline. It gave me something else to think about while still allowing the romance to remain at the heart of the book. The small-town atmosphere added to the charm and made the whole reading experience feel warm and inviting.
My Final Thoughts
What stayed with me most was the emotional side of the story. I enjoyed seeing two people slowly become willing to trust, hope, and open themselves up again. It made the romance feel more heartfelt than simply being about attraction.
Christmas in July at Harbor’s Hope was a beautiful and comforting read for me. I loved the character development, the gradual romance, and the balance of emotional moments with a little mystery. It left me with that satisfying feeling you get when a book manages to genuinely make you care about its characters, and I’m glad I gave this one a chance.

I went into this book by expecting a cozy small-town romance, and while that’s definitely the part of it, there’s also a mystery running through the story that kept me curious about what was actually happening at Harbor’s Hope.
Margot was probably my favorite part of the book. She’s organized, stubborn, always making lists and trying to keep everything under control, even when things are very clearly falling apart around her. 😅 I also liked that she wasn’t written as someone who just needed romance to fix her life. She has her own baggage, her career, and plenty of reasons to be careful about trusting people again.
Evan is much quieter, and I really liked how naturally things developed between them. Their relationship grows through ordinary moments, morning coffee, working together, helping each other when things go wrong, and slowly becoming comfortable around one another. Nothing felt unnecessarily rushed.
Harbor’s Hope itself was another highlight. The marina, the resort, the docks, and everyone constantly appearing in each other’s business 😂 made the town feel genuinely lived in. The side characters added a lot to that too.
I also wasn’t expecting the mystery to pull me in as much as it did. I won’t say where it goes, but it gave the story a little more tension and kept me wanting to know how everything connected.
More than anything, I liked the way the book handles starting over. Margot and Evan are both carrying things from their past, and meeting someone new doesn’t magically make any of it disappear. It’s more about learning what to hold onto, what to let go of, and making room for something new.
By the end, Harbor’s Hope felt like one of those fictional towns you wouldn’t mind coming back to. ☕🎄

I had such a nice time reading Christmas in July at Harbor’s Hope. I picked it up wanting something easy and comforting, and it turned out to be exactly the kind of story I was in the mood for. There was something about the setting and the holiday atmosphere that made the book feel like a little escape.
The mystery involving the missing ornament was a fun addition. It gave me something to think about between the romantic moments, and I enjoyed wondering what was really going on. I also have to say, Harbor’s Hope was one of those fictional places that made me wish I could actually visit it. I could easily picture myself spending a few days there.
I found myself really caring about Margot as the story went on. She has already been through quite a bit, and watching her deal with one setback after another made me want to see her finally have something go right. I was definitely rooting for her. Evan took a little time to grow on me, but I ended up really liking his quieter personality and the softer side of him that gradually came through. I especially enjoyed the romance because it didn’t feel like everything happened at once. I liked watching Margot and Evan become more comfortable with each other and seeing their relationship develop naturally. Those gradual changes made their story much more enjoyable for me.
By the time I finished, I had that happy, cozy feeling I always hope to get from a holiday read. It was sweet without being overly complicated, and I genuinely enjoyed spending time with Margot, Evan, and the people of Harbor’s Hope. Definitely a book I’d recommend when you want something warm, relaxing, and easy to enjoy.

Christmas in July at Harbor's Hope is a beautifully crafted, 300-page contemporary romance that masterfully explores the delicate process of rebuilding trust after profound betrayal and grief. Set against the charming backdrop of a coastal town's summer holiday festival, the novel balances emotional depth with uplifting seasonal charm.
The story centers on two wonderfully complex, guarded protagonists. Margot Pine, an event planner reeling from a devastating professional betrayal, is entirely focused on self-reliance and career rehabilitation. Her path crosses with Evan Cole, a local handyman who has spent half a decade retreating into protective solitude following a life-altering tragedy. When a missing ornament collection threatens to derail the town's signature festival, the pair is forced into a close collaboration that gradually cracks their carefully constructed facades.
The narrative excels in its pacing, allowing the relationship between Margot and Evan to evolve naturally from professional cooperation to a deeply rooted friendship before shifting into romance. The author uses the unique "Christmas-in-July" setting to inject a sense of warmth and community, highlighting the therapeutic power of small-town solidarity and faith. Ultimately, Christmas in July at Harbor's Hope is a refined, inspiring, and emotionally resonant story about the courage it takes to let the past go and allow love a second chance. It is an exceptional choice for readers seeking a clean, meaningful romance.

I really enjoyed Christmas in July at Harbor’s Hope. It was one of those cozy reads that I could easily settle into, and I found myself looking forward to spending more time with the characters as the story progressed. The combination of romance, community, and a little mystery made it especially enjoyable for me.
I connected with Margot and genuinely enjoyed following her journey. I liked seeing how much effort she put into making the Christmas in July celebration work, even when things didn’t go as planned. Her relationship with Evan was another highlight for me. I appreciated how naturally their connection developed, and I found myself quietly rooting for them as their relationship grew.
I also really enjoyed the presence of Lou, Jolene, Ray, & Tessa. Their interactions gave the story a warm, welcoming feeling, and I liked the sense of everyone coming together to support the event. The harbor setting added to that feeling and made the story even more inviting.
The theft gave me something extra to wonder about while I was reading, and I enjoyed trying to figure out where that part of the story would lead. There were moments that made me smile, and overall, the book left me with that comfortable, feel-good feeling I look for in a holiday romance.
For me, Christmas in July at Harbor’s Hope was a sweet and relaxing read with a lovely cast, a gentle romance, and just enough mystery to keep things interesting. I’d happily pick up another book set in this charming world.

A sweet coastal romance wrapped in sunshine, salt air, and a touch of Christmas magic, Christmas in July at Harbor's Hope is a heartwarming story about healing after heartbreak. Margot Pine arrives at Harbor's Hope to manage a high-profile Christmas-in-July festival, determined to rebuild her career after a painful betrayal. There she meets Evan Cole, the quiet marina caretaker still carrying the grief of losing his wife. As mysterious incidents begin threatening the festival, the two are slowly drawn together, discovering that sometimes the strongest connections are built through trust rather than grand gestures.
What I loved most was the gentle pace of the romance. Instead of relying on instant attraction, the relationship develops through quiet moments, shared responsibilities, and emotional understanding. The small-town coastal setting is beautifully described, making Harbor's Hope feel like a place you'd want to visit. The added mystery surrounding the valuable ornament collection keeps the story engaging without overshadowing the emotional journey.
Overall, this is a comforting, character-driven romance filled with warmth, second chances, and hope. If you enjoy slow-burn romances, charming seaside settings, and emotionally mature characters learning to open their hearts again, Christmas in July at Harbor's Hope is a delightful read.

From the moment I dove into this story, I found myself completely swept away by its quiet warmth and genuine emotional depth. Following Margot as she attempts to piece her life back together by coordinating a major midsummer festival in a close-knit coastal community really resonated with me. You can feel the weight of her past betrayals, which makes the sudden disappearance of key event decorations and the unfair suspicion landed squarely on her feel all the more heart-wrenching. Rooting for her to clear her name and find a fresh start felt less like reading a fictional plot and more like supporting a close friend through a crisis.
What made the journey so deeply satisfying, though, was watching her partner with Evan. He brings a calm, grounded presence to the chaos, and their shared quest to uncover the real culprit creates a natural bridge between two guarded people. The author handles their relationship with incredible patience; nothing about their connection feels forced or hurried. Instead, you get to experience every subtle shift as past hurts give way to genuine trust and affection. The small-town backdrop adds an extra layer of comfort, weaving together themes of healing, second chances, and redemption into a rich, immersive narrative. It is an exceptionally heartwarming, slow-burn romance that leaves you feeling completely restored by the final page.

A refreshing and heartwarming summer romance, Christmas in July at Harbor's Hope brings a festive touch to a picturesque seaside setting. The plot follows event planner Margot as she navigates the high-pressure coordination of a major off-season holiday festival, only to be thrown a curveball when a sudden disappearance of property introduces a subtle, engaging element of mystery to her schedule.
Rather than hurrying the storyline, the narrative takes a delightfully measured approach. The story is further enriched by a vibrant supporting cast whose collective effort and camaraderie bring the small-town environment to life.

This was such a sweet little read. I picked it up because, were currently doing Christmas in July is in our reading challenge for SBBC and it ended up being the perfect cozy escape.
My heart really went out to Margot. She was just trying to rebuild her life after everything she’d been through, and then things started going wrong all over again. I couldn’t help rooting for her to finally catch a break.
I also really liked Evan. He was quiet, a little closed off, but you could tell he had a good heart. I liked that the romance took its time instead of feeling rushed, and it was nice watching the two of them slowly learn to trust each other.
The missing ornament mystery added just enough to keep things interesting without taking away from the romance, and the Harbor’s Hope setting made me want to pack my bags and visit.
Overall, this was just a cozy, feel good read. Nothing over the top, just a sweet romance with a little mystery, a charming small town, and all the Christmas in July vibes.

From the moment I met Margot, I felt an immediate connection to her journey watching her fight to rebuild her life despite every new obstacle thrown her way made it impossible not to cheer for her success. Evan stole my heart in the best way possible. He starts off reserved and guarded, but his underlying kindness shines through as the story unfolds. I loved that their romance was allowed to breathe; watching two cautious people gradually drop their guards and earn each other's trust made their connection feel remarkably genuine. The added puzzle of the missing heirloom ornament gave the narrative a fun, engaging kick without distracting from the central love story, while the coastal town itself was portrayed so vividly that I found myself wishing I could book a trip there immediately. It delivers the ultimate cozy blend of small-town warmth, sweet romance, and mid-year festive magic.

I’m not usually drawn to romance, but Christmas in July at Harbor’s Hope really surprised me. The mystery surrounding the stolen pieces gave the story an extra layer that kept me interested.
I especially enjoyed watching Margot take matters into her own hands. With suspicion falling on her, she refuses to simply accept the situation and starts looking for answers herself, following leads, questioning what happened, and trying to uncover who was actually responsible. I liked seeing her determination grow as she pushed deeper into the mystery while also trying to protect everything she had worked so hard to rebuild. Evan added a lovely emotional element to the story, and I enjoyed seeing their connection develop alongside Margot’s investigation. Overall, this was a refreshing romance for me, with enough mystery, emotion, and character depth to keep me turning the pages.

I felt instantly swept away by this beautiful story of fresh starts and emotional recovery. Following Margot’s journey to pull off a midsummer celebration on the coast while trying to move past a deep betrayal really touched my heart, especially as her path collides with Evan, a gentle local man silently carrying his own profound loss. What truly sets this book apart is how naturally their love story develops. Instead of relying on instant spark or rushed drama, the author allows their bond to take root through quiet, everyday teamwork and mutual respect. The subtle whodunit thread involving missing decorations adds just the right spark of intrigue to keep you turning pages, all wrapped up in a seaside community so charming you will want to move there immediately. It is a deeply soothing, uplifting read about learning to trust again when you thought your heart was closed for good.

Honestly I've read something like this after a long time and I loved it!!!
The character building of both Evan And Margot was actually beautifully done and I love how their relationship was portrayed!!
The second chance trope here, steals the show and you would definitely love it!
The romance is a slow burn, giving both characters the time and space to heal, trust again, and grow. While the pacing is gentle, it suits the heartfelt nature of the story. One of my favorite lines was, "For years, it had been nothing more than weight. Now it pointed somewhere." It's a simple yet beautiful metaphor.

There was something really comforting about Christmas in July at Harbor’s Hope that made it an enjoyable book for me. I liked the slower pace and the way the story gave me time to get familiar with the characters and the little community around them. The unexpected theft gave me another reason to keep turning the pages because I wanted to know what was behind it. I liked having that bit of suspense alongside the romance rather than having the story focus entirely on the relationship. By the end, I was left with a warm and satisfied feeling. This was a gentle holiday story with romance, friendship, a touch of mystery, and plenty of seasonal charm. It made for a pleasant read and would be a nice choice when you want something light and comforting.

Honestly, this book was a total breath of fresh air. I went in expecting a light summer romance, but Margot and Evan’s story hit so much deeper. Margot is rebuilding from scratch after a total betrayal, and Evan is silently carrying his own heartbreak. Instead of the usual instant-chemistry trope, their bond builds slowly through real teamwork while they try to figure out who’s sabotaging the harbor’s summer festival. The missing ornament mystery adds just enough kick to keep you turning pages, and the whole seaside vibe made me want to pack a bag immediately. If you want something cozy, heartwarming, and genuinely grounded, grab this one.

Christmas in July at Harbor's Hope is a warm and heartwarming story about new beginnings, hope, and love. The beautiful coastal setting makes the story feel peaceful and inviting. The characters are kind and easy to connect with, making their journey enjoyable to follow. I liked the mix of summer charm with the Christmas spirit, which made the book feel unique. Overall, it is a sweet and relaxing read for anyone who enjoys clean romance and uplifting stories. I highly appreciate the author and would definitely recommend this book.👌

Margot Pine rebuilds herself after David betrayed her. This is a fictional story but teaches so many important lessons throughout especially about trust, loyalty and rebuilding.
Margot is at Harbor’s Hope from Raleigh and she instantly feels home. Despite going through everything and enduring the bad attitude she sticks and stays stronger. Her character is so strongly built and she literally inspired me. Letting go, second chances and being easy with oneself is the main focus of this story which eventually affects us too.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I definitely recommend it.

This was my first time reading Angie’s work and honestly this is easily the best book so far I’ve read this year.. ngl, I had a crappy reading year this year and this book proved to be the knight in shining armour lol
Margot and Evan have a really nicely developed chemistry that brings you calm and peace while also makes your heart race..
The story about a theft at an event is something not too absurd or too complex so I enjoyed the overall refreshing light read and I really look forward to more books by Angie

Had so much fun reading this summery breezy book that has the best team and story. There’s a little crime happening in this too but you’re going to love it. There’s slow romance and it’s super clean so you can enjoy it with your teenage kids/friends too. The harbor was giving off old English vibes and I was easily able to imagine the scenes. I hope this gets recognised by some tv company and it turns into a movie. Great work Angie!

A sweet Christmas in July, seaside romance with a fantastic cast of characters. I loved how well the author structured this story where it didn't feel rushed even with an ornament collection mystery on their hands. I had to keep turning pages to see what would happen. At times it was emotional as the main characters, Margot and Evan learn to trust and heal. It was such a good read that was entertaining and heartwarming.

I really enjoyed how Angie Tompkins brings her characters to life and gives their relationships room to develop. I found myself becoming genuinely curious about their pasts, their choices, and what might come next for them.
The story has plenty of thoughtful details that add depth without making it difficult to follow. I stayed engaged throughout and enjoyed watching everything unfold. Overall, it was a fun and satisfying read that kept my attention from beginning to end.

Angie nailed it!
This book is a perfect blend of smooth, cozy, summery and mystery with a kick of seaside romance. I loved the characters, I loved the storyline, I loved the writing style, I loved everything about this book. Absolutely perfect!
The robbery of the ornaments and the way Margot calculates the time and everything is so unique and different from anything. Definitely worth your time and effort. Highly recommended!

Margot needs a fresh start. Evan is guarding a broken heart. Throw in an investigation at a midsummer festival, and you’ve got a story that’s impossible to put down. What makes this hit home is the restraint (no forced drama or instant sparks), just two mature adults learning to trust each other again. Set against a salty ocean breeze, it’s a sweet, comforting reminder that second chances are always worth the wait.

If you need a cozy escape, this book is like a warm blanket on a salty beach evening. Margot and Evan are both walking around with bruised hearts, but watching them slowly open up while trying to figure out who’s causing trouble at the harbor festival is just pure comfort. The ocean breeze, the midsummer Christmas lights, and the slow, steady build of real trust make it the kind of story you just want to sink into for a few quiet hours.

This was such a sweet romance. I absolutely loved Margot and Evan. The mystery of the stolen ornaments was a really great element in this story. I loved that it was romance, suspense, and mystery. And being Christmas time was even better. In such a huge fan of holiday stories. So this won my heart from the beginning.
