About the author

The tarot has been a part of my personal and professional life for nearly twenty years. I first discovered the Tarot in college. Right from the start, the tarot intrigued me with its marvelous blending of mythology, psychology, art, history mystery, and magic.

My education in the tarot has been and continues to be broad and enlightening. I am grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to study under renowned tarot scholars Mary K. Greer and Rachel Pollack. I have also had the privilege to share the wonders of the tarot with all manner of wide-eyed, would-be tarot readers.

I enjoy giving a voice to tarot cards by writing the books that accompany decks. I have had the good fortune to write books and booklets for several decks, including A Guide to Mystic Faerie Tarot (Llewellyn, July 2007), The Gilded Tarot Companion (Llewellyn, September 2004), The Enchanted Oracle (Llewellyn, September 2008), The Mystic Dreamer Tarot (Llewellyn, September 2008), and Shadowscapes Tarot (Llewellyn, May 2010). Recently, I finished writing a new edition of Tarot for Beginners (Llewellyn, November 2010).

My articles on the tarot have appeared in several tarot publications and in Llewellyn's New Worlds of Mind and Spirit.

Over the years, I have been very active in the tarot community. I am a founding member of the Minnesota Area Tarot Symposium and have spoken at tarot conferences around the United States. In July of 2010, I had the pleasure of attending the Tarot Association of the British Isles (TABI) Annual Conference as keynote speaker.

In addition to teaching tarot classes and providing personal readings, I currently work as a consultant for tarot publishers Llewellyn Worldwide and Lo Scarabeo. I also contribute bi-weekly posts to Llewellyn's Tarot Pathways blog. I am very excited to be working on designing several forthcoming tarot decks as well as another book for tarot newbies on spread design.

This book is amazing. You can see how the interpretations are based on the traditional tarot meanings, but with unique perspective that really emphasizes the elemental aspects of the cards. The book offers a relatively short, but still detailed description in story style, of the symbols and images used in the cards along with the meaning for divinatory purposes. There is some solid info in this one. As far as the images in the book go, I loved that they were actual size. Also, even though they were in black and white rather than color, the image quality is really good. I loved this, since it allowed me to really dive into both the story and the photo.

The deck that accompanies this deck is also stunning. I am not sure if it is just me, but my personal connection to the deck is unlike any other. I have prated tarot for a long time, and have loved and been attracted to many decks, but none have felt as personal as this one.

I'm not sure that this will be the deck and book for everyone, but I can't sing it's praises enough. I do think that if you get the deck, then you should really get the companion book to go along with it. It will make your life easier. I think you could also probably use this book without the deck to get some alternative interpretation of the traditional cards. Who knows, it may make for some interesting readings. ;) See what I did there?

Artwork stunning but this deck needs this book. While the deck is largely based on portraits that are indeed very expressive, it is not so easy to interpret but the book is a perfect complement!
This is only one of perhaps 4 decks I bought this year but I am really happy with it.

This book is incredible. I think If you're any good at reading people and their faces the deck is a very easy deck to read and love. But this book is a magical gem in the world of tarot deck books and was a joy to read just for how it was written.

This is honestly my favorite deck. I really connect with humans and what they're doing in the images on the cards. The art work is beautiful. The only problem, and I think this is kinda major, is the lack of diversity. The people in the cards = all Caucasian. I feel uncomfortable using it for readings for others, the whiteness is so noticable. Too bad because each card is a gorgeous work of art.

This book, the descriptions of the cards, is very much Moore showcasing what can come through pathworking with the Tarot. I also found the beginning and ending parts that concern aspects such as elements, tarot philosophy, how to read and spreads, to be useful and inspirational for anyone working with tarot. In fact it inspired me to get more involved with working out ideas concerning the elements, for instance using Elemental dignities as a means of reading without set spread positions.

This is a great deck for personal reflection. It's honesty and opportunity to show you where you need to focus are unmatched! Good quality deck and the imagery is amazing!
