V Plague #8

Recovery

Rate this book
Tinker Air Force Base has fallen to the infected. Rachel's plane to Seattle has been shot down over a mountain wilderness in Idaho. Is she alive? It is up to John, Katie and Dog to race against time, invading armies, blizzards, herds of infected and vicious wild predators to reach the crash site. As they fight their way across the country, they must come to grips with the new reality of the world, and devise a long term plan for their survival.

Sweeping across a wide swath of North America, Recovery continues the journey of Major John Chase and the small band of survivors he's left with after the evacuation of Tinker at the end of Indestructible. New dangers abound as the toll from the battle to survive weighs heavily on John's shoulders.

The Adventure Continues

This series never gets old, and none of the books are filler books. There ius always something fresh and new for the characters to overcome. Love John and Katie as a team! Sorry still do not like Rachael, yes she is tough, but still too pushy about where she stands with John. And wishing he and Dog were with her after the crash, sorry came off selfish. Even with Katie accepting Rachel, I still do not feel she is the right character for John. I have read the series and know the future, but hoping for a return just like the surprise return in book 16. Read This series! Awesome.

Thrilling

How Patton continues to fill the story with twists and turns after 8 books still amazes me. This book was incredibly thrilling! I felt as if I was freezing, stalked by wolves, pulled in by a crying infected, and racing my way through this phenomenal story. These are the best apocalyptic books I’ve read. From the good man John is, to the ever developing female infected, you will be sucked in mercilessly.

Great Series

These books by Dirk Patton just keep getting better. John goes off to find Rachel, and Katie is along for the ride. What a ride it is! All of the usual dangers are all around, but new ones are also added. I stayed up late into the night to finish this book I have already bought the next book in the series, Precipice. It is the ninth book in the series. I highly recommend Recovery: V Plague Book 8.

Enemies abound and action

Non-stop action in the battle to retain sanity and life among the characters in the story from fighting the infected who seem like zombies. The race to save one of the friends who is snowbound comes almost to an end fighting wolves when an enemy helicopter arrives. More please!

Oh my goodness, talk about a page turner you will find this one is. Then there is the fact that the end of the book demands to be resolved, which of course means getting the next installment. As in the other books there is plenty of violence , but it doesn't overshadow the story.

Oh my goodness

Loved it! There's nothing left to say. Outstanding! I love to hate cliffhangers. I don't have time to write anymore, I have to get to the next book to see what happens!

Yet another stellar opus from Dirk Patton. I love the way the books begin with the zombie apocalypse scenario and, while maintaining the premise, also morphs into other plots and subplots. One can't help but get attached to the characters and sadly, similar to The Walking Dead, no-one seems totally exempt from death. Most series endeavors end up grinding down after the third or fourth book, but not so this series. Book eight's cliffhanger ending transitioned beautifully into Book 9. I highly recommend these books.

4/6/23 - Upon re-reading this book, I was surprised by the cliffhanger ending which I had completely forgotten. Again, equally as enjoyable as the first, I had forgotten so much.

This eighth book continues right along with the end of the seventh book, 'Indestructible' and Mr. Patton keeps up the intensity and overall pace of the series to date.

I don't want to give away anything to readers that might read this review before the other seven books, but this was another incredible addition!

The writing continues to flow so effortlessly through the accounts of different survivors still left in the U.S. and beyond! A great story with another patented 'Patton cliff-hanger ending'. I'll have to get started on the ninth book, 'Precipice' to see what happens next!

Another edge of the seat in the V Plague series. As the group works to get all their members back together, what is most likely to get one of them killed, the Russian, the infected, the weather, the wildlife or their choice of transportation. You will have to read to find out. This series is a must read.

I am really enjoying this series. I love the characters. Love Dog! Book 8 left off in a really "On No" place. Thank goodness I didn't have to wait to pick up book 9 and start reading. I like how the story continues on with no time passing between books. Kind of like one really big book broken up in to digestible pieces. Can't wait to see where they are headed!

With the insane cliffhanger of the last book, I was SO glad to be able to buy this one immediately. I can't imagine having to wait- it's one blessing to having discovered this series when it was so far in already.
Another great addition to a great story. Fans of this genre will not be disappointed with the time investment of this series.

It just keeps getting better!

As I near the end of the Voodoo Plague books I slow down. Trying to delay the inevitable. But it still happens. I am left breathlessly wanting the next volume. And dreading the wait. Dirk Patton my hat is off to you. I cannot wait for Book 9.

Continued Excellence

Again, the latest book in the "Voodoo Plague" series keeps the reader captivated and wanting more. A few grammar errors caused some distraction, but otherwise Book 8 is as awesome as the previous seven. Looking forward to Book 9!
