B.I.R.D.S. by Rowland Bercy Jr is an intense and relentless tale that has me nervously eyeballing every bird in my yard. The suspenseful and gruesome homage to the Hitchcock classic has a very modern, almost sci-fi twist to it that creates chilling undertones of Orwell’s classic 1984. Rowland’s compelling storytelling is at it’s best in this gripping tale. A highly recommended read!
Forget being afraid of what’s hiding in the dark… this book will have you watching the sky. B.I.R.D.S. is exactly the kind of horror I love fast, intense, cinematic, and packed with nonstop tension. Inspired by Hitchcock while carving out its own identity, this story delivers brutal survival, unsettling mysteries, and enough suspense to keep you turning pages (or listening) long into the night. Every chapter raised the stakes, and the creeping paranoia made it feel like nowhere was safe. The audiobook narration by Dash Shearer elevated every terrifying moment, making the panic and chaos feel incredibly real.
If you love: * Creature horror 🐦 * Survival thrillers * Conspiracy mysteries * Fast-paced action * Bloody horror
I really don’t like birds, but when I saw that Rowland was going to release a book with birds in the title, I knew I had to read it.
The plot is quite simple… There’s a new supermarket in town with no security whatsoever, but that doesn’t mean a five finger discount doesn’t come with a punishment… a very gory one!
This is a very fast paced story packed with humour, screams, and disgusting moments, especially if you listen to the audiobook, which I totally recommend.
Mr. Bercy Jr. has become one of my auto buy authors for a reason. It’s always a lot of fun reading his books!
Fck them birds! Gruesome and horrific to just hear bleh. If you don't like body horror def don't read as its literally describing these messed up "birds" attack these people.
Jones Mart and Hyper Mart are going head to head. James Jones is hoping to dominate the market! But they’ve no security whatsoever, what’s all that about? Well… fuck around and find out! I loved the narrators accents and all the lil sound bites! This story felt reminiscent of the movie The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock but with a 21st century twist! I loved it! At under 2 hours it’s a quick, satisfying listen!
What an absolute blast this was! So much creativity in Rowland's writing style. And this brings a new light of the conspiracy theories about birds not being real (wink wink) awesome story with tons of gruesome violence and blood. I listened to the audiobook and the performance throughout was fantastic and painted such a vivid picture of every scratch Peck and rip that these birds do on our victims. This book is relentless and tense and just an onslaught of body horror blood and a ton of fun!
