The Maddox Brothers #3

Beautiful Sacrifice

Rate this book
Falyn Fairchild can walk away from anything. Already leaving behind her car, her education, and even her parents, the daughter of the next governor of Colorado is back in her hometown, broke and waiting tables for the Bucksaw Café. After every shift, Falyn adds to her shoebox of cash, hoping to one day save enough to buy her a plane ticket to the only place she can find forgiveness: Eakins, Illinois.

The moment Taylor Maddox is seated in Falyn’s section at the Bucksaw, she knows he’s trouble. Taylor is charming, breaks promises, and gorgeous even when covered in filth—making him everything Falyn believes a hotshot firefighter to be. Falyn isn’t interested in becoming another statistic, and for a Maddox boy, a disinterested girl is the ultimate challenge.

Once Falyn learns where Taylor calls home, everything changes. In the end, Maddox persistence is met with Falyn’s talent for leaving, and for the first time, Taylor may be the one to get burned.

I was probably one of the few among my GR tribe who liked Beautiful Redemption and had no problem with Thomas being hung up, at first, on the previous heroine of this series. So I had to give this a chance. Now, this book runs parallel to Beautiful Redemption and unlike BR, the second half of this book was a clusterfuck. Cheesy, predictable and boring.

Now I had no problem with per se. If it made sense and result in character development, I'm okay with it. In this case, it's what happened after that sunk this book for me. The

Cue eye-roll.

But that's not enough. Oh no. The

But wait...

I'm not yet done yet. After they got the Hurray for Taylor's magic peen. Basically, all the things that happened that was triggered by Falyn's insecurity of not being able to get pregnant was just that. DRAMA. Unnecessary and predictable.

I'm not even going to touch on how unlikable Falyn and how weak Taylor is because I don't see the point. There were too many underdeveloped plot devices that grated on my nerves, and I couldn't fully enjoy because of it. And I'm tired of seeing that wedding scene over and over again. Ugh.

1 Hesitant Star.

So basically this is the story of another of the Maddox brothers. He meets Falyn, a girl with his own past and problems, and they slowly fall for each other.
But as their ghosts and problems keeps getting in the way, they will realize their relationship will not be a walk in the park.

This is a review that really pains me to write. Mainly because Jamie is the author of one the books I believe to be one of the pillars of NA, “Beautiful Disaster”, as that book is also one of my favorites ever. I loved Travis Maddox from the first moment, but unfortunately the same isn’t happening with his brothers. The quality of Jamie’s books seems to be decreasing with each one in this series, and unfortunately, I believe this means the end to me. I will very unlikely will keep going with this series.
Let me just be clear. For me, the wasn’t the biggest problem. I’ve read books where that happens and I’ve rated them 4 and 5 stars. I just don’t understand the meaning for that, except for the adding of unnecessary drama and it was so badly developed it was painful to read. Too little character development, too much unrealistic drama, too much blame and secrets going and around. I can honestly say neither of the parts of this book was enjoyable for me, and believe, I’ve tried to like it.
However, this is my opinion and if you’re a fan of the author give this a try anyway. You will probably see it differently than me.

JAMIE HOW FUCKING COULD YOU

I am seriously heartbroken . Probably because I went in with high expectations. I mean it's the Maddox brothers, & they're addicting okay? But I was left completely disappointed.

Basically my single biggest pet peeve when it comes to stories was in this book (to some degree). I really am spoiling the plot if I say anything about it, but if you really wanna know it's that there was . The story started off pretty good. A little unoriginal if I'm being honest, but Jamie always makes any romance captivating.

Falyn is your not-so-typical riches to rags girl who lives and breathes working. She's built a quiet life for herself while living above the restaurant she works in, in order to save up for her ultimate goal. Despite her hurt and guilt from the past, she is extremely motivated towards reaching her goals and loving to the people who have treated her with kindness over the past couple of years.

Taylor Maddox, the temporary fire fighter in town, meets her at her job and is instantly intrigued by Falyn's hard to get attitude. Falyn doesn't have time for distractions from her ultimate goal, so she rejects him. He, like the rest of his brothers, doesn't deal well with rejection and he continues to pursue her. Falyn is pretty unfazed until she realizes he may be able to help her reach her goal with a little manipulation and so begins the start of them.

From the beginning until the "goal" is reached, everything is great and I was overall happy with it. But then I looked at how many pages were left in the book and I was barely halfway finished. I was wondering how much more she could add to their story and honestly I wish I stopped reading. Cause it was messy. Then came the unnecessary, weird insecurities that cause drama and fights, blah, whatever I didn't even mind that stuff honestly.

Then came the worst. My pet peeve. And I was so disappointed. It was so unnecessary and a little unrealistic in my opinion, and just depressing. I mean some people might not mind it, but I just felt for Falyn so bad and hated Taylor after that and the fact that people still wanted them to stay together had me ????? Plus her overall decision just made me unhappy too, all I kept thinking about was what the hell I would do in the position? And every time I knew it would be the opposite of what Falyn did. It just left me feeling depressed and I hate that.

I'm just so disappointed because I was SO excited to read this one and Jamie just let me down so bad. There was more unnecessary drama than the romantic stuff I love from her past novels and I was just sad after reading this. I might read the next one, but I'm gonna wait to read the reviews cause I can't handle another one like this.

I paid $14 (I had bought the paperback) for this so I'm going to be more honest, and perhaps, frank in the review.

this book!!

What the hell?!

description

Some of what went down in this book really ruined it for me.

Taylor is a douche.

What he did was unacceptable.

description

Falyn was annoying.

description

Some of the other characters in this book...did they really even have a purpose?

I swear, the Maddox brothers' stories are getting much worse. I loved Travis, Trent's story was debatable as there was that love triangle thing and unnecessary drama going on, and then Thomas or "TJ"'s was just 'meh.'

I was actually looking forward to the Twins' tales, I don't know why, but I thought I was going to love them the most.

Surprise, surprise, though, that Taylor managed to end up in my hate bucket as the most hated Maddox bro of all.

Sorry.

This book just highly disappointed me. I wasted my time and money that I can never get back.

Obsessed much over this series, KAS, you might be asking? Why yes, as a matter of fact I am! ;)

My swoonfest continues over Taylor Maddox, and just for extra yumminess, he is a hotshot firefighter, and loves to save damsels in distress in his free time

The lucky damsel he completely falls for is Falyn. She is a rude, potty mouthed, aloof waitress he meets at a local restaurant while in Colorado Springs fighting fires. Falyn wants nothing to do with him, but ... as fate would have it, ... she discovers he is her meal ticket to unveiling a secret, no matter how much it is going to hurt.

Taylor’s usual calling card reads ‘one night stands only,’ but Falyn has unexpectedly managed to get underneath his gorgeously tatted skin.

BUT Taylor is all too human and makes a big, I’m talking BIG mistake! I would categorize it as going from swoony and suave, to temporarily stupid.

“Fate” plays a huge role in this storyline, but I enjoyed it too much to quibble about it.

I have to say I don't know what's happening with these stories. When I first read "Beautiful Disaster" I loved the story. I adored Abby and Travis. And I was curious about the Maddox Brothers. Now that I'm getting the chance to meet them one by one nothing out of the extraordinary is happening. Don't get me wrong, the story is good but not "Beautiful Disaster" AMAZING.

Taylor is sexy. It's a Maddox so pretty much he can't help it. Falyn, our heroine, I kinda like her. Just a little bit. The whole "Beautiful Sacrifice"? This is where the problem is. . . it didn't take me by surprise. Was expected. I smelled it from far far away. Anyways, the writing is good and I laughed a few times, so I was happy at the end. AND I got to meet Tyler Maddox! That was the whole point, right?

I'm so disappointed. I couldn't really get into the book but I was still about to give it 3.5 stars until the twist near the end. It made me so mad I didn't even want Taylor and Falyn to have a HEA. I just... ugh. It all made me sick and I really don't understand how Falyn could be okay with it. Sure she was hurt, but then she just got over it and decided to . Personally I could've never forgiven something like that.

I got over the part since Taylor would've never done it if he'd known that Falyn hadn't broken up with him. But the whole

And anyway, the whole book felt rushed. It started in September, moved to October when Falyn and Taylor finally got together. And then the next chapter started in January, and moved to February within few pages. Then it was March, things blew over and suddenly it's June and then July. I don't mind a time gap or two, but the book basically jumped from one drama to another. It was just briefly told that they spent time together just hanging at Falyn's place etc, but we weren't shown anything but fighting.

I'm still excited for Tyler's story, and especially the America and Shepley's novella coming out in August!

Initial reaction: Nope, this book was the worst in this series so far, and narratively showed more of a decline in the writing style. No imagination in the plot or character resonance whatsoever. I'll admit there were a few moments when I genuinely laughed (the "Macho Pikachu" line was funny, dangnabit), but it was such a slog to get through this crap that instead of taking me hours to read, it took days.

The nicest thing I can say about it was that the colors in the cover scheme were nice. The inside on the other hand - different story.

Full review:

I debated a little while as to how I'd write this review, but for the sake of summary, this will be half discussion, half (constructive) venting.

I actually had more fun buddy reading this series with my bookish friend (with whom I've read the first two books in this series) than flying solo for this read. We had ideas and discussions about McGuire's expansions and New Adult as a whole that were food for thought, and I wish I could telegraph everything that we were able to discuss. She asked me if I was going to continue reading this series after the second one, and I said "Yeah, might as well - it's two more books. We can read it between us and discuss them when they release."

Well, two things happened in the time between me reading "Beautiful Redemption" and this book: my bookish friend moved away (she and her husband both got job ops in another state, which made me happy for them and sad at the same time), and another, I pretty much had to decide whether I'd still foot the bill for reading this. I did end up paying the $5.99 for this from a gift card I had on Amazon (which I assure you, I bought other books I knew I'd enjoy). Some might ask me: "Rose, you hated this series from the beginning, and you were still willing to give this series a chance?"

Well, considering I read K.A. Tucker's "Ten Tiny Breaths" series and hated all of them save for "Five Ways to Fall" - I figured there was a chance that my mind would change in the progression of a series (and I've been impressed since following K.A. Tucker's narratives from there). There were some reads that worked the same way with me for Samantha Young and other NA authors. I haven't completely written off New Adult as a category either, I've read titles I've really liked, but I've been hard pressed to find anything from McGuire that would suggest there's some narrative growth and resonance that'd connect with me personally. Was there a chance this would be different? Maybe, but I figured the only thing I had to lose was $6 and time. Some would probably say I shouldn't have even bothered putting money in the author's pocket, but considering I paid to read Raani York's "Dragonbride" earlier this year, I figured this couldn't be worse than that experience.

So the verdict: Not to sugarcoat it - it's the worst in this series thus far. The long and short of it was that this featured very bland, underdeveloped characters, dialogue that was drawn out with more self-insertion-y comments that made me shake my head, and for another thing: this was really...boring and tedious considering the scheme of events of the novel. I mean, it's hard to follow characters that you feel are pretty much being force fed to you from point one and that the heroine is pretty much Abby Abernathy 4.0 for voice and recounting of events. But the more vexing thing is that this devolved into a drama that was so over the top that I shook my head and said "Yeah, even if Jamie McGuire ends up writing five more books in this series or even a new one entirely, I'm not going to follow her as an author even if she co-writes with an author I actually do like." Reason being, the quality of the book isn't there for the price tag or for the time taken for the read.

First, there's cases of awkward writing that are more frequent than not:

"Before I had time to stop my expression, I narrowed my eyes and sneered."

"His lips baptized my skin in a line of tiny kisses..."

Then there are contradictions in the text, such as Taylor saying he has a master's degree in Women's Studies bud didn't go to graduate school. This was my comment on the matter for one of my status updates on Goodreads:

The reason I'm quoting this is because it's a contradiction: he says he doesn't have a graduate degree, but then says he has a masters in Women's Studies, but then doubles back and says he was kidding about the degree and then said he'd taken a few courses in women's studies.

Dude, what level of a degree do you think a masters is? It's graduate school, it's considered a "graduate" degree. Not to mention you pretty much contradicted yourself in the scheme of the conversation to Falyn. She should've seen through you lying because of the contradiction, but she didn't until you pointed out the truth.

Yeah...this likely didn't see a final edit for the turns of awkward phrasing and logic for conversational flow.

Another problem comes with the repetition for story elements/scenes: in this book, we have a laundry room scene (there was a similar scene in "Walking Disaster"), a scene where Taylor walks in the shower on Falyn and she giggles after the fact even when she tells him to get out (Travis and Abby did this in "Beautiful Disaster"), Taylor makes references to try to "bag" Falyn (Even though Falyn's like "No" -by this point I want to facepalm every time I see the word "bag" - it's such a stupid word for having sex with someone) and Falyn refers to Taylor as a stray puppy (which Abby made about Travis as well in "Beautiful Disaster." That's too many narrative references to be a coincidence, and it doesn't work as an ode to the original book because the nature of the inclusion feels repetitive. There are more references like that through the book, but think about how much of that is from the *beginning* of the story.

Taylor is just as much of a misogynistic jerk as his brothers. It's not made okay by the introduction that people "analyze him" unnecessarily and that he took a few courses in women's studies. Just because he took classes in that doesn't make him an expert in women or more likely to seduce women. Yet he seems to think otherwise. *sighs*

Eventually, after some lusting and bickering between the two, they end up going to meet Taylor's family and traveling back home (Falyn has her reasons for this, which she realizes she can use Taylor to get what she wants), and Falyn ends up in the middle of an altercation because

But really, that wasn't even the worst of things because in the last 40%, there's a lot of unloaded drama that comes in waves and continuous back and forth.

Drama #1: You guys remember little Olive from Beautiful Oblivion? Well, She had the child, gave up Olive to another family because her parents forced her to for the sake of her education, which she didn't end up pursuing because of their control. But Taylor arranges for them to make a single memory which seems...nice. But don't think that makes him a redeemable character. Nope, not by a long shot.

Drama #2: So, even considering the spoiler for the first notation, Falyn which I felt for her on. She and Taylor fight over this factor since it conflicts with his plans for the future, and she's ready to leave him to spare him the grief. He gets mad, walks out, and it seems they're apart for several days before making up.

Drama #3: Taylor is a jerk because Falyn, I thought, was entirely too forgiving of this entire scenario, especially considering what happens next.

Drama #4: 89% into the novel, which is uber, uber rushed for events, Taylor and Falyn discover This hurts Falyn because of spoilery events I mentioned in Drama #2. She's afraid she'll lose in a double scenario that happened to her before.

Drama #5: Taylor I'm guessing that was just thrown in for the sake of drama and making Falyn cry, as if the woman doesn't have enough to cry over.

Drama #6: So things get to a breakneck pace and for no reason at all but just to have an HEA, I almost would've respected the narrative more if Falyn had a coming to terms and trust that came with those events, rather than just the thrown in revelation.

I don't understand this rollercoaster measure of events. First it took forever to get to the central conflict of the novel in the beginning - coupled with all the misogyny and typical NA cliches, and then the latter part of the book heaps these events all on you in one go. There were some events in the middle that brought back the characters from the previous books (and Travis and Abby still felt like the standout characters, though they weren't in this book as much as previous ones), but it seemed to take up narrative space to divert from developing the ongoing issues between Taylor and Falyn.

For the record: I'm done. Last book of this series I'll read (because apparently the next book, "Beautiful Burn" won't be the last one, there's another which will be a sequel to "Beautiful Oblivion"). It's also the last book of McGuire's I'll read. It's just too much mishandling of sensitive and important issues and there's no rhyme or reason for these events, makes them seem trivial, really. I wanna feel for it, but not if it's just going to be handled in a hodgepodge, uneven way for drama. There was the potential for it to be better than it was, but since it was thrown in all in one swoop with very little gravity (some of it was, but it was hard to palpate and Taylor really didn't feel the gravity of what he'd done in all of it - how is he supposed to be a romantic hero?).

Not recommended. No more, I'm just utterly and completely done.

Overall score: 0/5 stars

*****SPOILER AHEAD********

DO NOT CONTINUE READING IF YOU DO NOT WANT MAJOR SPOILERS!!!!!!!

No, no and no the book had me up until he sleeps with another woman and his excuse is he thought they were on a break!!! Oh and he was drunk lets not forget that part. I believe what Falyn said was she wanted him to THINK about the future and if not having kids would matter to him, NOT go F**CK some chick you meet in a bar. Barely 4 days into this supposed break and he is hooking up with another girl who he gets pregnant. The next day he texts Falyn telling her how much he misses her and how he just can't wait to hold her in his arms, huh?!?!

Falyn was a bit too forgiving even going as far as to take some of the blame herself for suggesting he take the week to think about the fact that she can not have kids, which is ridiculous!! He couldn't even keep it in his pants for 4 days!!! Then when the girl shows up pregnant it all just fell too perfectly into place, the fact that she did not want the child and Falyn and Taylor could keep it for themselves.

Hey Falyn!! Heads Up ! You know the Hot Shot Firemen who breeze into town leaving broken hearts and babies behind that YOU complained about at the beginning of the book, well you just got cheated on by one. Can not believe this author made Taylor into just another one of them. As a Maddox who loves once and loves hard she could have really made Taylor a great character.

Taylor cheating added nothing to this story at all, especially since Falyn was able to have a baby in the end. It was a weak attempt to add drama that failed. I would rather have read a few more pages on Taylor doing laundry or better yet, Tyler and him trying to convince the dad that they are insurance salesmen and not firefighters, which is also ridiculous. I mean with all the tattoos, smoking, fighting, and good looks, I'm sure they scream "Local Statefarm agent". For being an ex-cop old daddy Jim sure is slow to catch on that most of his sons are lying about what they do for a living.

You could see the writing on the wall when he mentions that he can't remember if he used protection, and Falyn makes him get tested for STD, how romantic. Total turn off and made it very hard to like him after that no matter how much he apologized and claimed he loved her or that he could not imagine life without her.

I know Travis slept with 2 girls while Abbie was staying with him but even that did not bother me because they were not together, plus even drunk Travis remembers to use a condom!!! Hell, Travis even freaked out and went out to buy all Abbie's favorite foods and a hair dryer all to apologize to her, and Abbie wasn't even his girlfriend at the time. Falyn didn't even get pancakes from Taylor! By this point Taylor had professed his love over and over and then to pull this Ross/Rachel crap of, " I thought we were on a Break and I was drunk and made a mistake". Not even gonna mention the odds that she turns out to be Olive's biological mother, REALLY! She meets the one Hot Shot Fireman who happens to be next door neighbors and close with her daughter she gave up for adoption, in another state mind you.

Total turn off, even with the HEA ending, I just could not get past it. Falyn sat pregnant ( cause surprise she can have kids) in the hospital waiting room with Taylor while he paced the floor waiting for his son to be born from his one night stand.

Yeah not a Happily Ever After ,,, more like HSS Happily Spread you Sperm.

“I don't need you to save me. I just need a little help to save myself.”

This is my favorite so far in The Maddox Brothes series! I really love Taylor Maddox so damn much. Way more than Trenton or even Thomas. He's one of the kindest and the sweetest of the Maddox boys and much tamer in comparison. Though he really doesn't take shit from anyone, that's the Maddox way!! They are ALL badasses! Taylor was so swoony and I fell for him right away, plus he's a hotshot firefighter and I LOVE firefighters 😉. He falls hard for Falyn, a waitress who works at a Café in Colorado. Falyn is a very stubborn woman, has the mouth of a sailor and doesn't care about rules. I love, love Falyn! Like 100 times more than Cami and more than Liis. Finally a heroine in this series that didn't drive me nuts. Falyn story was so beautiful and Taylor stole my heart! I LOVE ♥Taylor & Falyn♥ together! Beautiful Sacrifice was the best one yet and it broke my heart so many times 😭😭. I was so enthralled and hooked from begging to end :) Definitely, an awesome book and this is a must read. If you haven't read this one yet do ASAP.

“I think it’s pretty obvious that I don’t just want you.” He laughed once, nervous. “I can’t stay away from you. That qualifies as need.”

“I want you. Just you. Nothing else. I’m not just content with that, Falyn. You’re not part of what I want. You’re everything I want. Anything else is a bonus.”

I'm just not feeling this book anymore. The heroine is too bitchy, secretive, and deceptive for my personal taste. And now that I've read some spoilers, I know that there are some actions by the hero that will not sit well with me later on so I'm cutting my losses. I don't want to waste my time on something that will end up angering or frustrating me, just don't have it in me to continue.

Okay, so when the reviews started coming in, I was a little hesitant to read this book, however, my curiosity won me over and I'm glad I did.

That doesn't mean everything is peachy with this couple...they are a little different and if you've kept up with the series, you know what Taylor did in Beautiful Redemption.

Taylor's a Hotshot, aka fire fighter who hikes in and fights wild fires. Basically that means he's only here temporarily, and everyone in the town knows that means stay away from them as serious dating material. And Falyn makes that only too clear to Taylor. Taylor, however, is pretty smart and decides to handle things from a different angle.

There's a bit of a twist, if you will, and a connection with the two to Taylor's hometown of Eakins, Illinois. I certainly didn't see that coming but I thought the whole story line made for some very sweet moments.

description

I really enjoyed Falyn's new "family" and how they all looked out for each other. And of course, I loved all the time with the Maddox family.

When things do come out in the open, they are a hot mess and the solution was a little cliché but what the heck? It certainly was romantic!

I did love the ending even though there were some liberties taken and not much of an explanation. We do get some page time for Tyler (Taylor's twin) and Ellison who will be featured in the next book.

I wish I could give a book zero stars. I get that these books aren't great literature by any means. Yet I have enjoyed them up until these past two books.

It really feels as if McGuire isn't in this for the story anymore, but to see how many books she can pump out. I really think moving from a publishing house to independently publishing her books has led to a horrible decline in the quality of her books. All of them are the same, have the same dialogue, and are rushed with nothing to really grab hold of your attention.

Thank god there is only one Maddox brother after this, because I can't continue on with these horrible books anymore.

I love the Maddox brothers and Jamie McGuire's writing style and I also loved this book. Because of my issues with cheating I had to deduct half a star from my rating so that's why this novel got only 4 and a half stars from me but I loved it nonetheless :D

Having a little insight into the characters from reading the other novels in this series I wasn't as shocked by what happened and I have to confess that the plot was a little predictable. But the characters pulled their weight throughout this book and made this novel a great one :D

description

Falyn left her privileged life for the chance to live like she wants so she goes from Ivy league student to waitress...but caries after her a painful secret. She doesn't want a relationship and especially doesn't want to be another statistic and fall for the ultimate bad boy ;)

description

Taylor is in town for only a while being a hotshot firefighter and all. He also wants what he can't have and goes to great length to get it. What he doesn't know is that even if Falyn keeps him at bay she still wants something from him but isn't willing to give something back. Being hot, charming and a walking wet dream isn't making things easier :P

description

I didn't like the cheating part and I felt that the novel could have been good even without that but what's done it's done and I liked it even despite that.

description

Can't wait for the next Maddox brother to get hit in the head by Cupid and fall fast and hard :P

★★★ 3.5 stars ★★★

I'm going to tell y'all a secret. A big one. A true one. A shameful one.

I really wasn't all that excited about reading Beautiful Sacrifice.

Don't get me wrong. I lurve me some Jamie McGuire. She's an instant one click. I have ecstatically followed the Maddox brothers series from day one, but for some reason the twins have never quite broken away from the periphery. They were funny in previous books, great secondary characters, but I couldn't quite bring myself to see them as anything else. Did I want to see them as anything else? Could they be anything else? I was apprehensive.

Apprehension be gone!! Jamie McGuire always manages to prove me wrong in all the best ways. I was wrong.

I think the best thing about this series, what keeps me coming back for more, is how each unique story is intricately woven with not only the stories that have come before it, but the ones that are to come. By doing that, Jamie McGuire is able to enrich a story that has already been published. Something I've already read, suddenly has new meaning. The story is always evolving, growing, changing. It has a life of its own.

Taylor definitely broke away from the periphery and became a solid main character, but most importantly, a solid hero. I enjoyed his character so much that I have this overwhelming need to go back and reread everything from Beautiful Disaster forward, in order to catch things about Taylor I might have missed, things I probably wasn't paying much attention to. Things I might not remember. I am now seeing the twins in an all new light.

Falyn was a solid main character, and reminded me a little bit of Abby. Her story is heartbreaking. She did manage to frustrate me at times, but minor nuances about her character were easy to overlook when supported by a strong (hot & sexy) hero such as Taylor. Did I mention that he's a firefighter? *Swoon* I loved the slow build of their relationship, but wish we could have seen more moments of their friendship in the beginning. Somewhere in the middle it did seem to slow down a bit, but it did pick back up and finished strong. That Jamie McGuire sure does know how to write the hell out of an epilogue.

Beautiful Sacrifice has me impatiently anticipating Tyler's story, but at the same time I'm a little scared to let these brothers go. By my count, there's only one brother left. Unless. Unless........Jim is a man. Men have penises. Penises make babies. Distraught men sometimes use their penises and accidentally make babies. Half babies. I mean, the babies are whole babies, but he could have made a half brother...or two. Three? Maybe babies he didn't know about. Troy? Trever? Tim? Tristan? They're out there Jamie!! Go find them ;-)

READ ON!

==>livro anterior (beautiful redemption)
"Thomas smirked. “He got dumped.”
The feeling of victory vanished, and guilt jarred me into silence. That didn’t last long when I remembered the yelping and wall-banging. “So, you slept with—” I almost slipped and said Agent Davies. “I’m sorry. It’s none of my business.”
Thomas couldn’t hide his relief.
Taylor took a long deep breath and blew it out. “I wasn’t going to bring this up until later, but I was really messed up over it and really drunk. Falyn and I worked it out, and she’ll be in St. Thomas, so I’d appreciate it if…you know…”
“Falyn is your girlfriend?” I asked." <==

--- nada demais, já li muito livrinho de banca com história muito melhor!

Highly disappointing.

I was actually enjoying this story until his cheating and knocking up his one night stand. Classy.

The h did get on my nerves somewhat, she was just too obsinate (without logic), but she still didn't deserve to be cheated on. Sadly, I actually really liked the H and thought he was a great guy until the big stuff up.

Also, the cheating just did not fit in with his character. He was so in love with her and she hadn't said they'd broken up, just taking a week apart (a break for a week) to really think about their future. So his response is to get laid? It felt very inauthentic to his character, like the author was just trying to add drama for the hell of it. I didn't appreciate the ruination of the story because of this "plot device".

This whole he cheats and she immediately forgives him scenario is so worn out, almost every author here uses it in someway. They show no originality. Just formula repeat. Really old.

And one more thing that should piss of every woman. How dare the author make the h feel like she's the one responsible for his cheating, she takes the blaim of HIS CHEATING on herself! are you kidding??? Because he couldn't keep it in his pants for a week, and was angry at her for actually trying to do something decent for him and for his future. Total dick move.

I am having a difficult time with this review and rating because I'm not entirely sure where I'm at. I have enjoyed the books in this series, but this book was not easy, and if I'm truly honest, it was very frustrating. I certainly do not want to reveal too much and spoil it for anyone else, but shit happens that I am just not a fan of that is just hard to move past. There is a lot of misplaced blame, repeatedly, that I just couldn't wrap my brain around. I didn't really like either of the main characters, they were both pretty damn awful. All in all, I am a Maddox brother fan and want to know Tyler's story and see how it all ends, but I think I will watch the reviews before I dive in!!

2.5 estrellas.

I don't need you to save me. I just need a little help to save myself.

Here we have Taylor Maddox, one of the twins in the Maddox family. He is a traveling hot shot firefighter that goes where the wild fires take him. Falyn Fairchild has dropped her old life in a riches-to-rags scenario and is now working in a popular diner in town and lives above it. Taylor comes into the diner for lunch with his coworkers and the rest is history.

My jeans don’t know your jean well enough to be washed together.

I really wasn't super surprised with what happened. I kind of saw that coming. It was weird and awkward, but wasn't a deal breaker for me because I have come to expect things like that from the series. I liked Taylor and I liked Falyn. A lot of drama and angst, but I think that's why I keep coming back.

Everything that’s happened since we met has led to this moment. There is only one woman I've loved before you, and there will never be another after you.

We only have one more Maddox to go! However, I feel like Jim needs a cute little novella to end the series right.

I didn't enjoy Beautiful Sacrifice anywhere near as the other Maddox brothers or Beautiful books. I think a major reason is because I just found that the story didn't grip me at all and that was very disappointing.

It's not going to stop me from reading more in the series, but I doubt anything will ever live up to my first (and second and third) read of Beautiful Disaster, and that is a tragedy that I'm going to have to accept.

On the plus side, I still completely love Jamie McGuire's writing. Her books are always ones that even if there are spelling/grammar/phrasing/whatever mistakes, I would never pick up on them because I am so drawn into the story, for better or worse, that they don't even register. I never get bored and, to memory, never don't read each book in one straight sitting.

I hope Tyler's story works out better for me!

These brothers just keep getting better

I was a lil worried about reading this book cause the reviews were very mixed but I 've enjoyed every one of these book an where Travis Maddox is I know I m goin to luv it I just luv that guy an his brothers r just as hot I actually didn't think Taylor would b so sweet I know it's hard to say a big fire fighter with tattoos is sweet but he really was I just fell for him straight away

Falyn as had to work very hard the last few year for what she has now she left her life that was full of fancy things like clothes cars an expensive holidays behind her she couldnt deal with the pressure from her parents they want her to b a doctor an do things there way but what she did was never good enough her mum would alway find a way to put her down so she left it al behind an started from scratch she had a plan that she had to stick to an she saved every bit of money she got from bein a waitress in the diner she at she was very close to the people she worked for an they were so nice people Falyn had her secrets an she kept them close an didnt tell anyone she didnt get close to any men she didnt date she just had to stitch to her plan that was until the very gorgeous Taylor Maddox came in the diner full of soot an smelling like smoke she did fall for hotshots but Taylor had never been told NO an he was goin to enjoy getting close to Falyn even if she did fight it

I really enjoyed this book I did find that it dragged a lil in the beginning but once it got started I could put it down I was dyin to know what was goin to happen to these to an if Falyn was finally goin to let Taylor in an tell him what her plan was an why she was doin it I did find that parts of the book were left open an I wanted to know more an about Falyn an Olive which I found was just left I understood why she did what she did but then it was just left an I was like WTF so that was a lil confusing but overall I enjoyed the rest of the story an just luvd Taylor's character so much I would recommend the book i have enjoyed the other books in this series an I a big fan of this author xxx
