If you like two horny guys falling for each other lightning quick with an explicit scene at the end all against the backdrop of Mother Nature, then this 40 pages will be a treat.

I personally wanted something more contemplative and life affirming in the face of Dan’s midlife crisis. The way he and Ranger Parker meet and form a tentative friendship was very promising, but overall this was too quick and superficial to truly enjoy their budding romance.

However, this was a freebie (and still is) so if you want something short and explicit by Ms. Violet, then please one-click! Enjoy!

His True Nature is a really sweet read. It was a little too fast to get fully invested in the story, I really would have liked more because the characters are great and I would have loved to read a lot of the 'moments' and backstory for both of them with more detail. But, their meet-cute worked and I loved the setup to their relationship.

Very nice. The mc's were good and I liked them together enough to read the next in the series.

Cute picture prompt and the author did a nice tie in to it.
I only wish I had seen more of the budding relationship between the MC's, I saw a helpful ranger and another (slightly helpless and accident prone) MC who is still coming to grips with his family's reaction to him coming out to them.
Maybe a bit more time spend showing the reasons they were attracted and liked eachother other than convenience would have helped me see it.

Short and sweet story about Dan coming out to his family quite late in his life. Disappointed with their nonacceptance, telling him that if I just got married, I'd get over my attraction to men.

Leaving town and meeting Parker, finally kick-starts the life he is looking for.
The book ends with a HFN and I'm looking forward to read the next book.

I liked the idea of this story but the execution was a little bland. I'm not even sure this would be a HFN (much less a HEA) kind of story because nothing was alluded to for an ongoing relationship beyond a bit of summertime fun.

When the first word in the story is a curse word it seems like a cheap trick to lure potential reader to believe that some drama or action is going to happen. Just recently when I was checking LisAW stories and found another story that starts with a swear word. Is that some new trend? Hopefully no!

I din't enjoy this story- it wasn't that bad that I wanted to smash my laptop, burn my books and never ever again set my eyes on written word...*turns off drama queen mode*

It is simple guy-meets-guy-and-they-have-chat-and-sex. Is there better stories than this one? Yes. Is there worse than this one? Of course.

But I wonder how it can be possible to be 30 years old and be surprised by family reaction to your coming out? Didn't Dan knew his family at all? Didn't he knew what his family believes? Hiding his sexual orientation for over 15 years how it came that he didn't get any clue that his family wouldn't be supportive?

Starts off slow. I'm only at about 50% and still slow.

Egh masturbation/fantasy sex. Blah does nothing for the story and kind of a waste of words for a short story IMO.

I was hoping for more tension. This was they have dinner twice and fuck but it's "deeper" than just lust. But with how little they interacted and the only stuff mentioned was how hot the guy was its hard to see it as anything more than lust.

I skimmed the sex scene it felt like I'd read it before a million times. This was all about the physical attractiveness and I didn't see any chemistry here. We don't know the characters and they don't know each other

And the whole "I don't like labels but I don't sleep with women, but I do like to look at them and boobs give me a boner" what the fuck is that supposed to mean?

So 2.5 stars it was kind of cute but severely underdeveloped.

I'm normally a pretty big fan of the author's work, but I think in this case it just went too quickly. I always have issues with stories where upon first sight they spring a boner that won't go away and can't think of anything BUT the guy even if there is no indication of reciprocal interest. I just want to smack them upside the head and tell them to start thinking with their big head, not their little one.

So it was okay, but ended abruptly (I know there is a sequel out or coming). I was kind of the middle on this one.

A short novella about Park Ranger Patrick and newly out Dan, who impulsively purchases a camper and decides to spend three months on sabbatical away from his architectural job. There's some insta-love, some hot sex and a HFN ending. Short and sweet - 3.5 stars.

I’ve read this author before. This is a mm novella set in contemporary times. Main characters are Dan and Parker. Dan is an architect and just came out to his family, with a poor reception and Parker is a park ranger where Dan escapes too. Inst love and great set up for book two in this series.

There's nothing worse than trying to pretend to be someone you are not. What makes matters worse is the fact that when you do try to be truthful, to live an honest life, your entire family turns against you. This is Dan's experience in 'His True Nature' by Sylvia Violet.

Dan is a good guy but he's discouraged and thinks he wants to be alone, but what he really wants is for someone to love him for who he is. Everyone in his life wants him to be someone he's not and won't support him, so he goes off on his own to contemplate his situation and what he should do next. Fortunately for Dan, love has a habit of sneaking up on you when you least expect it.

Parker is a forest ranger who is also in-between lives. He's divorced and searching for something more as well, striving to be himself. He runs into Dan who is desperately in need of help with his camping skills, to say the least, and Parker graciously helps him. They become friends and find that they have a lot more in common that they had ever dreamed.

This is a short, endearing romance between two men who truly needed each other. The story is well paced, sprinkled with humor, and told with an honesty which is refreshing. As with many short stories, I wanted more of these two deliciously sexy men, but we will just have to hope for a sequel. I'd recommend it to those who desire a brief, but happy escape into a romantic fantasy. Thanks, Sylvia!

Great short story to read on a rainy day. This is book 1 in the Forestry series. My only problem was it ended to soon. I wanted more of Dan and Parker.

Nantahala Forest!!! There needs to be more books like this set in Nantahala, all I’m sayin’. (My home state. Many, many trips in my life to Nantahala, summer and winter.)

Very cute. Very short! I could have done with more camping mishaps, and flirting via mishaps, so that seems like a good sign, that I’d spend more time in these woods.

Dan's just had an unpleasant coming out to his family at his 30th birthday party. Looking to lick his wounds he takes a rushed sabbatical and buys a camper and heads for a national forest. Dan's a bit of a clutz with camping, and when the forest ranger, Parker, comes to his rescue he feels a real chemistry. Is there really something there, or is it just his imagination?

M+M Short

Coming out to his family at 30 saw him ostracized. Going camping in a second hand RV with no outdoor skills is almost laughable. Rescued by a beyond handsome park ranger the rest of the story is about their hookup.

Super short... actually just the beginning of a story. It could be cute though. I was disappointed when it ended, I wanted more.

Sweet, quick read

This story is fast paced and sweet. I didn't realize it was a short story, and not my favorite from this author, but it was charming.
