Passionate about reading and writing for as long as she can remember, Stephanie was inspired to create her own literary worlds by the books she has lost herself in over the years (some of her favorites include: the Harry Potter series, The Road, 1984, Wool and Station Eleven).

Stephanie writes speculative fiction in the wee hours of the night after her children have gone to sleep. She particularly loves writing stories about characters who find themselves in unusual or challenging situations, and exploring how they deal with the fallout.

Having lived on several different continents over the last ten years, Stephanie is also an avid traveler. She married her British husband in Las Vegas with Elvis as celebrant, which was just as fun as you would imagine.

SHIFT - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

When Ferrovore-9 'safety' devices made by Aurexis cause devastating national consequences, law and order soon break down, in Stephanie Mylchreest and Mike Kraus' epic survival-thriller SHIFT.
The MCs' diverse situations are related in a stimulating, engaging way, as ex-paramedic Melanie Keene and her neighbours form a local defence group, while she waits for her ex-husband Billy and their deaf daughter Jessie's return home from Boston.
ASL teacher Noah Brown narrowly escapes as nearby buildings collapse. Will he find his sister Helen, or be forced to leave without knowing her fate?
And can elderly Ida protect Jax and Mira who are in her care and reunite them safely with their families?
These intertwined story
threads kept me reading almost non-stop, by emphasising the dangers each group faces while trying to help those in need.
In the last chapter a new character, Aaron is introduced...and he's a man on a mission.
Riveting stuff - you simply must read SHIFT as soon as you can... it's an unputdownable survival thriller that could teach us all a valuable thing or two!

How Do We Survive Without Iron?!?

Shift, Nothing Left Standing book 2 continues the story of the world, suddenly left to pick up the pieces after a lab created bacteria which rapidly oxidizes any iron containing metals. Noah is still helping Jessie get to her family after her father's death in the first minutes. Melanie struggles to stay at the homestead instead of going on a rescue mission and Ida is still aiding the group of four troubled teens get back home. The relationship between Noah and Jessie and how Jesse's loss of hearing early on when the bacteria destroyed her hearing aids and how brave and capable she is and that ASL fluency could be an aid to survival in an apocalyptic scenario. A world without iron is the toughest apocalyptic scenario I've read, far more difficult than surviving a plague or EMP/CME scenario, and I love the creative means by which people are reinforcing failing structures and objects without most metals! Overall, 5/5 stars, highly recommended to fans of apocalyptic survival thrillers, disaster thrillers and any reader looking for an intriguing and unique read!

I am so in love with this series! Reading the Nothing Left Standing series has been an adventure I can see actually happening. The shift in the world, the greed of people who want the admiration of the world and the madness it causes.
As an scientific discovery gets loose in the world, it starts small and then begins rolling down hill faster and faster. The lives of the world full of people is so impacted, the loss of anything metal down to the very small nail we hang pictures with to cars to buildings to lives that are lost and for what! For the very reason a man became too greedy for the praise and admiration for the idea that the scientists he hired to discover the fact that to break metal down could be a great advantage for many reasons. The lives lost because he refused to listen to the warnings of the scientists that this could become dangerous.

If you love end of days thrillers, you will love the writings of Stephanie Mylchreest and Mike Kraus and you will love this series.

I did enjoy this part of the series, it's a well balanced post apocalyptic thriller, with interesting characters. I like the storyline so far, terrifying idea & a real possibility considering the direction of research at the moment. Some exciting moments, with good tension which makes it a good fun read!
