Full of gems for those in leadership position or roles.

I found three things in particular stood out to me.

1. You are your most important leadership assignment. And you are also the hardest one.

2. The more responsibility you have in leading others or an organization, the more intentional you should be in your own personal leadership.

3. The importance of managing our time effectively is of utmost importance in personal leadership. Schedule appointments with yourself and don’t miss them!

Interesting read for someone in a leadership role, I think this book was written for specifically the church context but if you are a believer you can find practical gems in this book to apply to your life.

This is a straight-forward book about 'self-leadership' or management. Akin to James Lawrence's Growing Leaders (although with a narrower focus), it runs alongside the Christian Leadership Programme - Arrow. It doesn't really break any new ground being rather a summary of the wisdom gleaned from being part of Arrow and then its director. There are some good illustrations, and quotations from other authors.

Excellent book on leadership, especially for those new to being in church leadership roles. The book was easy to read containing many practical examples, yet the questions and challenges put forth were great means of growth. There were plugs for the Arrow Leadership program, but they were done tastefully and out of the author’s experiences in the program. Good, practical resources for developing a vision statement and goal setting.

This is a great book! I highly recommend it for Christian leaders! It has a lot of practical and Biblical wisdom. I took a team of interns through the book and I believe it was helpful for all of us.

Such good questions! Thsi book gave me the chance to look at myself truthfully and see where I am at and spend lots of time in reflection and prayer for areas I need change in. Loved it and I would recommend for anyone in ministry leadership!

A small, practical and insightful book on the importance of personal leadership in life and ministry and how we are our "most important leadership assignment" and often our "most difficult one".

There are 8 key practices that deal with topics like personal vision, time management, personal health and more that Brown lays out for the reader. There are questions at the end of each chapter that often contain significant assignments to help the reader understand themselves and take steps towards personal growth.

If you put in the work that Brown gives, and if you desire to change and grow in your leadership and discipline, you will benefit greatly from this book.

This book would make for a great series of blog posts. And, without losing anything, could've been about 50 pages less.
